Survivor's a really interesting game.

Think about it. We spend all this time

designing a game, and then just as much time

searching for the people who are gonna play it.

And then, my favorite part

and the riskiest part,

is we turn the entire game over to you.

And from that point forward,

we have no say in what happens.

Absolutely no control.

You're in total control.

We're merely there to witness it.

And I'm telling you this

so you don't forget when you're out there,

this is your game.

You decide how it's played.

You decide who stays. You decide who goes.

You decide who wins.

So don't ever wait for permission

to play your game.

he was a really good teacher.

I do negotiations as part of my job.

As a game designer,

I love cracking into things,

thinking about the smartest way to handle

things that are thrown my way.

And so I know I do not want

want to get some credibility here

that people trust that I know how to do things.

build a staircase.

I wasn't really impressed with Aaliyah

People I'm working with primarily,

the core three is me, Jelly and Dev.

I think I'm in a good spot in the game right now because

all of us have a lot of hands in every jar.

So, I think

we're running ship.

I knew going into the challenge,

Jenna was on people's mind.

So it's pretty easy to think

we're gonna go Jenna tonight.

But in my perfect world, a woman

is not going home tonight.

Because at the challenge,

what I saw is a lot of men

overpromising and underselling.

- I mean, Brady is our muscle. - Yeah.

But he only pushed one box.

- Yo, and he was pissed, right? - He was pissed.

He was really aggressive in the challenge.

It's so crazy because he's so,

oh, goofy-go-lucky, right,

at camp? But he really kind of

showed himself today in the challenge.

Like, I was kind of, like, taken aback a little bit

of how aggressive he was.

Jelly and Aaliyah were talking about Brady.

Frankly, we were all talking about Brady in the water.

No, no, no, no.

Yeah, yeah, yeah.

But he's not on the chopping block.

The only name I've heard is Jenna.

But watching her

take on that puzzle,

she was focused, she was determined.

Like, I saw that,

and I thought, like,

I don't want her to go home right now.

- Yeah. Give it to me straight. - I get the sense that

the guys have felt

- that you are closed off, and... - Mm-hmm.

- Like... Yeah. - Oh, me? Oh, that's...

Hold on, hold on. I know.

Patt told me the tea,

which was not good for me.

It's a blow to the ego

to be like, "Okay, people

don't trust me."

That I'm giving bad vibes.

It's just a lot to process.

The main reason I've just been

so closed off is

I'm recently,

you know, divorced, and it feels like

I'm in a whole new identity of my life.

Um...

Like, I haven't been...

...single, I guess--

like, that word even feels so crazy to me,

that feels like the craziest thing to say--

...since 18 years old,

and I'm 30.

And I think that sort of

caused me to close down,

and I think people felt that.

Then,

you know, it just...

All it takes is one little whisper

of "This girl's playing too hard.

"She's probably not a wedding photographer.

She's hiding something."

And listen, I'm not.

I am a wedding photographer, you know?

We got shutter speed, we got ISO, we got aperture.

I like to shoot at A7R5 or A7R4

because it shoots in a 4:3 crop,

which is exactly how the Contax 645 shoots

because I like to shoot everything

as close as possible to film

because that's what I learned on,

and that's what I like to edit with. Ugh!

So now,

I just have to

see what troops I can gather

and see what I can get done.

It is time to work.

- Really? - Really?

- Aaliyah was ... talking me? - I-- It's stupid

- and kind of crazy. She was-- - So what did you say?

she was just saying that it, like, it was intense

in terms of, you know...

Me shouting and stuff? Oh, yeah.

Aaliyah said I was aggressive

and intense.

Too intense? Have you ever competed in your life?

It's ridiculous.

When Aaliyah brought me up--

oh, man, did that light a fire. I was,

"Oh, you're gonna come for me?

I'm gonna dominate you."

Aaliyah was talking about me down there,

and how I'm overly intense

and how I could probably be the one to go.

Apparently, Aaliyah decided to say,

"I didn't like the way Brady talked to me."

Wha-- Who-who cares how Brady talked to you

during the challenge? We're headed to Tribal.

You don't say a thing about Brady. What are you doing?

Yeah, dude, I-- I mean, I'm gonna tell you something.

- Yeah. - I can get her tonight.

- Okay. - And I probably will, with that information.

Why?

Why the hell would you say his name?

Cool. Nobody was even thinking about you.

And now, you know what I got to do?

All this work.

Like, I would love to, you know, like, work with you,

I'm almost positive, Brady is going for Aaliyah.

But I'm, like, Jenna-- she's really scary to me.

Sometimes when you're in the middle,

Devin is my number one guy, but he's my biggest

competition at the moment.

Brody, this is for a million dollars,

maybe even two million. If my mom

came to football practice, I'd lay her ass out, too.

Me and Brady are now wanting two different things.

He wants Aaliyah, who I love.

I want Jenna.

What do you do?

This is the open era.

You can have alliances with people

and strong bonds and not vote the same.

The old way of thinking is that you have to always be

on the same page, and I'm like, "No, you go,

I'll go, and may the best man win."

Wow. This is incredible.

Oh, my God.

Absolutely epic.

- Look at the bones. - What?

Behind each of you is a torch. Go ahead and grab a torch,

dip it in and get fire.

This is part of the ritual of Tribal Council, because

in this game, fire represents your life,

and when your fire is gone, so are you.

Sad to say,

that is gonna be the case tonight.

So, I'm always struck

when a new group of players walk into Tribal Council,

which is where death in the game happens,

and yet, you have these big smiles.

Maggie, walk me through what you're feeling right now.

Oh, it's real.

It's so real. We're here.

And it's real. It's happening. Like,

the fire is burning,

and we're all so anxious but excited at the same time.

It's real, Jeff.

And Jeff, I know there's people

saying, like, "Oh, they're not really living outside.

"They're not really dealing with the elements.

They're not really that close on day three."

Well, I'm gonna tell you this right now.

We are that close. We are living outside.

I've eaten maybe a coconut in three days.

And so the stakes are real.

Well, one of the things

that hasn't changed in the open era is that

this isn't just a game about survival.

It is about social relationships,

because it is the impressions

that you make that determine your fate.

So, Patt, what did you notice in terms of relationships?

It's been fun watching that. Like,

looking at, like, Brady and Devin,

I feel like they come from different worlds.

They've been, like...

But then, they get here,

they're huge personalities,

and you think, like, huge personalities sometimes clash.

So, like, you never know.

And then, like,

they love each other. It's-it's fun to watch.

Um, if I could say

one more thing. Brady's this,

like, big, hunky wrestler dude.

I'm this big, hunky, gay dude.

- You know, like... it's... - Cycle.

Cycle guy. You know, and, like,

we got here, and we immediately

started bonding, even though

we are, like, two different sides of a coin.

And Jenna, when you have a group of strangers

from different walks of life, sometimes,

difference is what draws you.

Sometimes that difference is what pushes you away.

What else have you noticed about relationships forming?

Um, well, I

struggled, at first,

to be, like, open.

And that maybe gave people the impression that

I was playing really hard or hard to connect with.

And just to be so real with you,

I feel like I'm kind of in a hot seat tonight.

Because of

- the impression you made? - Yes, very much so.

And when that happens, it can be really

- tough to turn the tide. - Jelly,

when you hear that, do you think, "Well,

"if it is Jenna who's in trouble, that's great,

"but here's a human out here

- who's not connecting with anyone"? - Yeah.

I think with this tribe,

there's strategy, and there's social,

but some people were slower

to take, and that's difficult, because you have to admit

that it is hard to connect with them.

So you're talking about Jenna?

Yeah, I'm talking about Jenna.

Kilby, were you aware that Jenna

was struggling to connect and now feels

she might pay the price tonight?

Yeah, I mean, I look at Jenna, and I'm like,

"There's something about her. She's not being fully honest

with me." I couldn't figure out what it was.

I think just that sometimes being a human being,

it's hard to open up, so, I, uh...

I don't know about all that.

Jeff, the way I'm playing this game-- everybody

knows at this point-- I'm an honest to God guy.

Like, I'm coming in here, I'm telling you

exactly how I feel, I'm telling you my thoughts about you.

And Jenna is, to me, somebody who, I feel,

if she makes it through this night,

is making it to the end of the game.

Like, she is smart, she is cunning.

And so, I want people to know,

I am going in that room

So, you have to rest on the conversations that you've had.

What I know to be happening is

when radical honesty enters into a stage

where people are prepared to be

so secretive and guarded and hold things next to their chest,

about every single person has

their own personal feelings about

who to go with, who they feel closer with,

who messed up this, and who did that.

And I'm gonna move forward in this game,

always, with what I believe to be true.

Like, someone's feelings on a certain person

or a certain situation-- you can't tell 'em they're wrong,

especially with all the permanent uncertainty

we're dealing with, you know, so,

right now, I'm kind of trusting

still be friends. We will still have this relationship.
