- Where did he run off to? - Don't know.

This little Silver Gong needs two Bronze Gongs to go look for him.

Xu Qi'an.

Ningyan.

He didn't take it.

Ningyan.

- Ningyan. - Ningyan.

Xu Qi'an.

Ningyan.

Ningyan.

Ningyan.

Ningyan.

It is now clear that Song Changfu, the governor of Yunzhou,

colluded with the Wizard Cult

and smuggled tax silver to support the rebel army.

Silver Gong Xu Qi'an cracked the case alone

and led his men to strike hard at the rebel army.

Nearly 150,000 taels of tax silver has been recovered.

The conspiracy of the Wizard Cult was uncovered.

When capturing the remaining traitors, he was ambushed and died.

I admire his loyal and righteous courage.

He worked tirelessly to the point of exhaustion.

I boldly request a posthumous title for Xu Qi'an.

Wei Yuan hereby petitions.

Xu Qi'an is indeed a talented individual.

Such a pity.

Minister Wei wants to request a posthumous title for him.

What do you all think?

Your Majesty, Xu Qi'an made outstanding contributions in this campaign.

I believe he deserves a reward.

Your Majesty, I disagree.

Although Xu Qi'an has merit in solving the case,

let us not forget his origins are humble after all.

At most, grant him some extra compensation.

There's no sense in ennobling him to nobility.

I beseech Your Majesty to reconsider.

Your Majesty, Minister Xu speaks sensibly.

Xu Qi'an is just a minor Silver Gong.

Dying in the line of duty is his responsibility.

If even he qualifies for posthumous ennoblement,

wouldn't that mean even ants could shine alongside the sun and moon?

I think this precedent must not be set.

Everyone, do you not agree?

Right.

Exactly.

How can one act rashly?

This reward violates the principles, right?

- Right. - So this just can't be done, can it?

Mr. Wei, Xu Qi'an is just a minor Silver Gong.

Give him some extra reward upon his death.

You…

You…

Your Majesty, Wei Yuan struck people in court,

showing no respect for Your Majesty or the law.

Please, Your Majesty, issue a decree to execute this official.

What are you laughing at?

Your Majesty, I saw you laugh, so I laughed.

Mr. Wei.

Mr. Wei, the body of Mr. Xu has been brought back.

As per your instructions, it has been sent to the Xu family.

Rou,

within three days, I must obtain

the defensive layout map of the Wizard Cult in the southwest.

After the autumn harvest,

I will attack the Wizard Cult

at all costs.

[Spiritual Tablet of Beloved Son Xu Qi'an]

Fortunately, it's not yet the end of the year.

The old gentleman from the east of the city hasn't returned home yet.

Otherwise,

I really wouldn't know whom to turn to for this.

Ningyan has been away from home for so long.

He is too tired

and should rest now.

[Spiritual Tablet of Beloved Son Xu Qi'an]

Lingyue,

help your mother back to the room to rest.

I'll stay here and keep watch.

No. I want to stay here with Qi'an.

Darling,

you haven't slept for days in a row.

I'll help you back to the room to rest.

You rascal are the sliest.

Are you playing tricks on us again?

Right?

I'm telling you,

don't play dead with me.

You're trying to trick us into tears again.

Didn't Ningyan leave any last words?

My condolences.

Ningyan

died young.

What a pity. It's a pity.

It's from the colleagues in the yamen.

Mr. Wei has instructed,

if the Xu family faces difficulties in the future,

you can seek the Guardians for him.

There is no need to send a message ahead.

Many thanks to Mr. Wei.

He really died like that?

Miss, what are you doing?

I just want to make sure again.

He wrote me letters when he was in Yunzhou.

He said once the tax silver is recovered,

I wouldn't need to go to Jingzhao Administration anymore.

Unexpectedly, the tax silver was recovered,

but he died.

Everyone,

let Ningyan be buried as soon as possible.

Wait a little longer.

Cijiu. Cijiu has not returned yet.

Wait a bit longer.

Wait no more.

Let him be buried.

Quick, stop that cat, it might arouse the dead.

Xu Qi'an. Wake up.

Where is this?

Why is it so noisy outside?

Who is calling me after all?

Mr. Wei.

Follow me.

Yes.

Where exactly is this?

The Battle of Linyuan Pass.

Who are you?

[Shenshu]

Who am I?

Who am I?

How did I end up at the Battle of Linyuan Pass?

The Battle of Linyuan Pass.

The Battle of Linyuan Pass.

What is it?

Wasn't it you who said it?

I said it.

Who am I?

You're a big fool.

I remember now.

Master, I was just kidding.

What is this?

This is

from his world of memories.

He? Who is he?

This is him.

Get out!

Go away.

Get out.

Get out!

There.

Here.

Get out!

A walking dead.

He became a walking dead.

Water.

Give me some water.

I'm so thirsty.

Qi'an, do you have any last words you haven't said?

Or is it that you feel unwilling to let go?

Last words?

Not a walking dead. There's a heartbeat.

The Qi Observation Technique shows a response, it's real.

- Well. - Well.

Xu Qi'an has really revived.

Ningyan.

Ningyan

Qi'an.

- Ningyan. - Pingzhi.

All that crying for nothing.

It's all right now.

Ningyan.

[Wizard Cult]

Mr. Wei.

He's been drifting in the canal for more than ten days.

His body shouldn't be kept for long.

Let his relatives

bury him.

Mr. Wei, Xu Qi'an is not dead.

Could this be a dream?

Why would I have such a strange dream?

Xu Ningyan, did you come up with that half line of poetry for me?

Almost.

Didn't you say you'd think of it after the case is closed?

A whole ten days have passed. Where have you been?

Why didn't you reply to the messages?

I was dead.

Xu Ningyan.

Buddy, since when did you pick up the bad habit of transforming into a cat?

Don't mind these trivial matters.

How did you get here?

I heard today you had sacrificed yourself in the line of duty.

I didn't believe it. So I came to see for myself.

Sure enough, even though your body showed no signs of life,

there were clearly subtle spiritual fluctuations.

I simply lent you a hand

just so that your spirit could return to your body sooner.

Lucky that you arrived just in time.

Otherwise, I really could have been buried alive.

Indeed.

Buddy, you truly are my lifesaver.

Equal exchange.

You owe me once.

Of course, sure thing.

By the way, during this trip to Yunzhou, did you see Number Two Li Miaozhen?

She wasn't in Yunzhou. I've asked her.

She said she was already on her way to the Capital City.

I originally intended to seek her help and use her influence to solve the case.

If she had been there to help,

I suppose I would not have encountered this disaster.

It seems it was fated

you were meant to suffer this disaster.

No need to see me out.

Oh, right.

What's up?

Nice figure.

[Guardian]

Summon Mr. Xu immediately.

Mr. Wei wants to see him.

Yes.

You know how to read the room.

To the unknowing, it would seem like Mr. Wei has acknowledged another godson.

Why don't you give up your place?

Why didn't you die in Yunzhou?

Managed to dodge it?

How is that possible?

Mr. Wei.

Greetings, Mr. Wei.

Come.

I've read the report from Song Tingfeng.

It says you disappeared after disarming the rebels and was killed by them.

But I know with your skills, ordinary people can't kill you.

I'm not sure what it was.

But it definitely wasn't the rebels.

Xu Qi'an.

Xu Qi'an,

do you have any last words?

Mr. Wei, I don't understand.

Was it Zhu Yang who actually tried to kill me?

Zhu Yang is busy tallying the Guardians' evidence of crimes at the Ministry of War.

How could he kill you?

Mr. Wei, His Majesty urgently summons you to the palace.

Ministry of War, Zhu Yang?

That's right.

In these three months you were in Yunzhou,

Zhu Yang defected to the Ministry of War.

As a Gold Gong, he exposed to His Majesty

the Guardians were corrupt and abused the law inside.

His Majesty ordered a thorough investigation of the Guardians.

Two Gold Gongs together with more than ten Bronze Gongs

were all thrown into the prison of the Ministry of Justice.

This is to take revenge on me.

Were you implicated?

No.

Then I am at ease.

Mr. Wei was taking advantage of the situation.

When Zhu Yang was accusing the Guardians,

he thoroughly cleared out the internal buildup in the Guardian Yamen.

If it wasn't Zhu Yang,

what exactly did I see?

An illusion.

An illusion?

The Wizard Cult's third rank, Linghui Master.

Adept at killing with illusions.

Once affected,

past thoughts, fears, and angers

will all turn into illusions at his disposal.

Linghui Master.

Mr. Wei, I'm just a minor character.

Why would this so-called third-rank Linghui Master

stoop to deal with me?

If he really wanted to kill you,

would you still be sitting here?

Mr. Wei, I still can't figure it out.

Don't bother yourself.

As a Guardian, you just need to stick to your duties.

Remember, if the sky falls, I will protect you.

Yes.

By the way, how did you come back to life?

It was Jinlian from the Tiandi Society…

It's the Rebirth Pill.

You have taken the Rebirth Pill of the Bureau of Astronomy.

If someone asks you, just answer this way.

Do you understand?

Understood.

Farewell, Mr. Wei.

Wei Yuan, stop talking nonsense.

Xu Qi'an miraculously came back to life.

How could it be because of the Rebirth Pill?

The Rebirth Pill is worth a fortune.

Even His Majesty cannot obtain it.

How could the Bureau of Astronomy give it away casually?

Whether it's true,

Your Majesty can send someone to the Bureau of Astronomy and ask them.

Alright.

Then send someone to the Bureau of Astronomy.

Besides, the matter of granting nobility

is hereby withdrawn for the time being.

Let's discuss it later.

Where have all the people gone?

We are good buddies usually.

Yet no one even came to see me off at my funeral.

Go for a drink after work is done.

- The theater. - Definitely the theater.

Have you heard it?

Just now, someone saw Xu Qi'an.

Xu Qi'an? Impossible.

His funeral is today.

It can't be the ghost of Xu Qi'an.

Ghosts can't enter the yamen.

- Buddies, I have a question. - Wait a moment. We're not done talking.

Let me tell you, I simply don't like Xu Qi'an.

Can't outplay him at the game of colors.

Can't outdrink him.

And can't outperform him in handling cases.

He deserved to die.

Exactly.

- Who is this? - Acting all mysterious.

Who is this?

Xu…

Mr. Xu.

Mr. Xu became a walking dead.

Go!

Walking dead.

Who said I deserved to die?

It's him.

It's you.

I'm sorry.

Alright.

Mr. Xu, haven't you already died?

Right.

I forgot to introduce myself.

I am the younger brother of Xu Qi'an.

I'm Xu Ba'an.

I'm ordered by Mr. Wei to take over my brother's duties.

Let me ask you something.

Where are the people of Chunfeng Division?

They seem to have gone to Yunzhou.

Yunzhou?

What are they doing in Yunzhou?

Mr. Yang and Mr. Li heard your brother died in Yunzhou.

They are overwhelmed with grief and indignation.

They blame themselves deeply.

So before dawn, they gathered everyone of the Chunfeng Division

and set off for Yunzhou.

They say it's to avenge your brother by quelling the rebel forces,

and to exterminate the Wizard Cult.

Everything is ready.

Ningyan, rest assured.

On this expedition to Yunzhou,

we are determined to eradicate the remnants of the Wizard Cult

to comfort your spirit in heaven.

Mr. Yang, everything is ready.

Let's set off.

Robbing homes, right?

Bullying the weak, right?

Acting tyrannically in the countryside, right?

Kidnapping men and bullying women, right?

Let me tell you,

if this continues, I'll break your darned legs.

We wouldn't dare.

Heroine, please spare us.

Scram!

Alright.

You've got quite the nerve.

Still daring to play with knives?

No more.

Master, you're so formidable.

Of course, let's go.

Congratulations to you for the 88th act of justice on the road.

Be more exact. It's the 89th time.

I took action twice on the journey to Wushan.

You are powerful.

But Master, you've been fighting all along the way.

When will we arrive at Dafeng?

Originally, it would take three days by riding flying beasts.

Now, look at this.

A full three months have been wasted.

Wasted?

How can this be considered being wasted?

Coming down the mountain this time was for the purpose of worldly experience.

Worldly experience?

I thought it was for my sake.

It's also for your sake.

Of course, it's for your sake.

Number Three?

Right, my four friends took a boat to Yunzhou.

Help me keep an eye out.

Later, I'll tell you about their physical features.

Yunzhou has not been peaceful recently.

Exactly.

They plan to raid the Wizard Cult.

What are they thinking, you tell me?

If you find them, quickly tell them that Xu Qi'an is not dead.

Tell them not to act rashly

and to return to the Capital City quickly.

But I will be arriving in the Capital City soon.

It's alright, I can send a pigeon with a message regarding your matter.

That'll do.

By the way, when you get to the Capital City, I have something I need your help with.

How can I find you?

Find me?

How come, you're not willing?

Don't forget that you owe me one.

I know.

But recently, the imperial examinations are imminent.

I'm currently secluded and studying in the academy.

I really have no time.

How about this? You go directly to my elder brother.

Your elder brother?

My elder brother, Xu Qi'an. He is a Guardian.

He is much more formidable than I am.

Quick-witted. Exceptionally astute.

Moreover, he is handsome and charming, elegant and dashing.

Okay. How do I find him?

Just go directly to the Guardian Yamen.

Qi'an, Miss Caiwei has come to see you.

I have something else to do. I won't talk to you anymore.

Remember the favor I asked from you.

Number Three?

Why is this Number Three so unreliable?

We went to great lengths to help him.

But he just pushed us off onto strangers.

How infuriating to brush me off like this!

Xu Qi'an, right?

When I see him, I'll show him what I'm capable of.

Go, find some thugs to vent my anger.

Okay, the 90th time.

Caiwei, how did you get here?

Here.

I have two things to do here today.

This first thing is,

do not go to the Bureau of Astronomy these days.

Hearing that you came back to life,

the entire Bureau of Astronomy is in uproar.

All wanted to come and investigate.

Fortunately, I managed to suppress it.

So, how did you come back to life?

Because…

Because I took a Rebirth Pill.

Rebirth Pill?

Do you know what that is?

The Bureau of Astronomy can only refine a Rebirth Pill once every 60 years.

If one encounters a fatal disaster, taking this pill can save their life.

After reaching the seventh rank, taking this pill

can break through realms and temper bones.

How did you, a minor Guardian, obtain this amazing medicine?

Because

I…

Because I…

Because I have brought it to you.

This Rebirth Pill was a reward from my teacher when I joined the Bureau of Astronomy.

It's been in my little bag ever since.

It's been with me for ten years now.

So it was yours.

So the second thing for today is this Rebirth Pill.

Now it's yours.

I don't know why, but my teacher asked me to give it to you.

So I just followed orders.

Remember my kindness.

When you invent something like the chicken essence in the future,

remember to tell me. Equal exchange.

Definitely, thank you.

This is so delicious. Send me the recipe later.

- No problem. - I'm off.

Oh, right.

What is this?

After taking the Rebirth Pill,

your body will undergo some minor changes.

Remember to take this medicine.

It helps where you're lacking.

I'm off now.

After taking it, will I be missing an arm or a leg or what?

Mr. Wei stated to His Majesty

the Bureau of Astronomy gave Xu Qi'an the Rebirth Pill.

This action is to test you.

It doesn't matter.

Since he asked, just give it to him.

Xu Qi'an's revival needs an explanation.

After the Sangbo case, you feigned illness and did not appear.

Later, you allowed the demons to be sent to Yunzhou.

After all this,

presumably, Mr. Wei may see through your intentions.

It doesn't matter.

He is also waiting for someone.

It seems that you and Mr. Wei share a similar insight.

But today,

I see Xu Qi'an running around

as if he doesn't remember anything.

Well, he will remember.

Xu Qi'an,

do you have any last words?
