SOMEWHERE IN ALASKA

HEART OF THE BEAST

Let's go son!

Odin is on the alert..

Come on!

Calm down, son.

Hey... really?

Go away!

Come on!

Come on, move.

Well done my son.

Let's go, son.

It's not that urgent, Odin.

Get out of there, you fool. You're scaring the fish!

Oh no, you can't!

You first.

You caught it.

You should enjoy it.

I miss you.

Yes.

Ok.

PATH

Odin

Odin, it's okay.

Everything is fine.

I know, I know.

Ok. Hey! Hey!

Ok.

Calm down, son.

Calm down, we're not there anymore.

It was just a bad dream.

It was just a nightmare.

Ok.

What a good dog.

What a good dog.

Hey.

Delta One to Omega Two.

Omega Two, 30 seconds.

Understood. Fast.

Critical landing. two enemies, 60 meters left.

Contact is on the left, at 9 o'clock.

Here is my son.

Ok.

Odin...how about you go look for trouble?

And in this corner three legged dog!

King of three-legged creatures.

And let me tell you He is mine!

That hurt!

Run.

Damn, you almost ripped it off.

Stop it.

This could destroy you.

A hawk.

Mottled.

504 left.

Hello.

I'm sorry, I didn't mean to scare you.

I saw your plane.

I thought I'd take a look around to see if I could find it.

Odin... sit down.

Ok.

It's a truly beautiful animal.

Watkins, that's what they call me.

Well, you're not one for small talk.

I can respect that.

Do you have a name?

James.

The case is closed. You are safe.

Well, James...

It will be dark soon.

I'd better get back to camp.

I rowed 300 km along the river. I still have 100 km to go.

I've been here many times.

And you're the only one I've ever seen make it this far.

This region. Almost no one cares.

I swear they don't know what they're missing.

There's nothing like the silence of nature.

The whole world belongs entirely to you.

Do you understand?

Yes.

I...

I pitched my tent almost next to yours.

I hope you don't mind.

Don't get stuck. I will set out before dawn.

It's like I was never here.

Damn.

Are you planning to stay here tomorrow?

I think the weather will be terrible in the afternoon.

Let me tell you, I don't mind a nice spring storm at all.

It somehow makes us grateful for the sun.

Wow! Certainly.

Well done son.

Thanks.

Woww..

Wowww!

Man, this is so special.

What kind of beer is this?

Brown Ale. Belgium.

A taste I acquired abroad.

Now this is a real drink.

What are you doing, James?

Army Special Forces. 30 odd years. Retired.

I see, Green Beret.

It's truly impressive.

I bet he was a soldier.

You have a calm and stern appearance.

When did you retire?

A few years ago.

You are now here to enjoy a simple life.

I retired too. Damn, it's been four years.

All my life, every kind of thing imaginable,

I did the odd job.

I was a farmer in my thirties, it wasn't bad.

I guess when I was about your age,

I founded a gold mining company.

And this...

It was the job I did for the rest of my career.

I bet you're a gold miner.

You have a slightly crazy, hopeful look.

You're a witty man, James. Witty and clever.

I appreciate it.

Do you miss it? Metallic?

Do you miss the war?

I was good at mining, dammit.

To me it was the most beautiful thing.

I was in love with him.

However, these feelings changed over time.

This is a dirty business, James.

Lots of shady characters.

I'm glad it's over but...

I confess, I have a strange nostalgia for the past.

It's funny how things turn out.

Hey, am I wrong or does your dog have something metallic in his mouth?

Titanium.

Titanium!

My god! This isn't something you see every day.

It must have a story.

Odin was a conflict scout dog.

He went after the target and the enemy hit him in the mouth with a brick.

- He popped his teeth. - Damn!

So... they had to change it.

What kind of son of a bitch would do something like that?

This is so scary.

I hope you didn't just stand there.

I shot him in the head.

Of course you hit it.

He was shot in the head!

Was it the same asshole who ripped off his leg?

No, it was someone else.

Tell me you shot him too.

I shot.

After that we retired.

Thank God. That was a wise decision, James.

It's okay, son.

Ok. Everything is fine.

James...

Thanks for the Belgian beer.

I hope you don't mind, but I took another from the cooler.

Please accept this book in return

I think you will like it.

Just for tonight.

Ok.

I know, son.

I don't like it either.

Damn it.

Damn creatures.

I'm sorry son.

I was hoping for a nice walk in that valley, but...

Maybe it would be better to deviate from the path.

Yes.

No problem.

I won't lie to you, son. This sucks.

Wait.

OK son.

It was supposed to be easy terrain.

Damn it.

I'm stuck.

Authorized to attack.

Enemy on the left, contact on the left.

Nice split.

The enemy is at twelve o'clock!

Doctor! Doctor!

To the landing zone.

The soldier was shot. We have losses.

Send rescue unit. We are looking for survivors.

One last mission.

The greatest joy of my life.

I love you very much.

Are you friendly?

What are you doing here?

Where is your owner?

Is there anyone?

Is anyone there?

Come here.

Yes. Let's look here.

You need a vet.

Hey?

Dear stranger; My name is James Belmont.

If you're reading this, It means I'm dead.

I had a heart attack a few days ago

and take the plane from here about I dropped it 80 km away.

I tried to bring it back

but this land has prevailed over me.

In front of you is Odin.

He is very educated Special Forces dog

Please take care of him and find a home for my dear friend.

Odin knew war and many great challenges.

More than any living being should ever have to face.

In this chaos

discovered our best aspects...

and our absolute evil..

But this monster has a big heart.

I showed Odin the battle.

And he reciprocated me with love and trust.

Now is the time for him to know peace.

Sometimes Odin has nightmares due to post-traumatic stress disorder.

They are scary and you will definitely be scared.

But if you talk to him in a calm voice, he will calm down...

and you discover an extraordinarily

loyal, intelligent, and loving friend.

Behind the page

You'll find a list of the various commands it recognizes.

As you will see over time, their intuition is very strong.

I ask that you not use the "bite"

command unless there is extreme danger.

I was always a soldier.

Odin made me realize that I am more.

Odin has great passions typical of a dog.

Dried bison meat, He loves to

scratch his neck and play fetch.

Make sure he gets these little

joys in immeasurable amounts.

I have no family other than this idiot.

I added my ID, personal information,

bank accounts.

All this goes to whoever deals with Odin.

I just want you to take care of her as best you can.

Don't mourn for me and don't look for me.

My body is at peace in the desert.

And my soul is with my martyred brothers.

Tell Odin I'll be waiting for him when the time comes.

With deep appreciation and gratitude,

James Belmont, Sergeant Major, retired.

Odin...

Come on.
