Original subtitles

I'm looking at going swimming in the middle of winter Tasmania.

To make a break, I have to try everything I can. If I don't, I will

just starve out here.

One mistake here can just snowball in the chain of events that takes me out.

I want the fat that I have to last me two more months.

It won't. There's no way.

I need an animal.

I do want someone here.

I want a hug.

We're going for the big move. There's no going back now.

So let's hope it pays off.

Ow. It's a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity that comes at a cost to my

family.

Oh, my heart.

We're halfway to the South Pole. We're going to be totally alone.

It's Tasmania, it's cold, it's rain, it's snow.

We're all going to leave changed forever.

Holy fuck.

Yeah! What is this place?

It's like a camp trip from hell.

Mother Nature's kicking my ass.

Oh, man!

This experience... Oh, you fucker!

..is just as much a...

mind game as it is a survival game check it out 250

000 prize would change my life this is persistence

this is giving you everything i'm over it holy holy

We had our first frost overnight.

It was sub-zero.

I wasn't sure if it was just my metabolism was down or something, but it

was freezing.

No wonder I felt freezing.

Frost.

Frost. Frost.

Frost. Frost. Frost.

The blue skies just disappeared.

And it feels like it dropped about 10 degrees in about two minutes.

No matter whether you've been in your shelter for days or weeks, today's going

to be tough on anyone.

I'm just glad we had some almost nice weather for getting here.

We're moving camp.

It's a huge investment.

I can only hope it pays off.

My body did get a lot more drained during that. I probably lost another

kilo or so.

It's getting close to pushing and I'm not going to be healthy.

I'm just wandering back and I saw this little kind of hole where the water

falls in.

It's a bit deep.

Just thinking, maybe just pop a rod in just for a few seconds.

Just test it, test out the waters.

At my first spot, I felt like I set up well, but got nothing.

Let's hook for our rod.

That's what this spot's chosen for, fish and then eel in the creek.

Let's have a spot of fishing while the sun's out over there.

It's a bit snaggy in there. It might cost a few hooks, but if we get a meal,

it's going to be worth it.

I thought I had a bite, but it was just a snag, I think.

I hope to do better here, but I haven't done well.

I haven't caught any fish.

Do I keep going, just hoping that the others are starving and not catching

fish?

Funny thing is, I've just got no appetite.

I don't want to invest the time anymore either.

I just feel so hopeless trying to find food.

It's a bit disappointing not to be able to have made some more progress today.

It's not over yet, but it's not looking good.

I wonder if moving to this new spot was the right thing or not.

We'll tuck in and wait once again.

I always feel a little bit nervous about these things for some reason. I don't

know why.

Maybe you're going to get some news that you don't want to hear or something. I

don't know what it is.

I don't know. You're just worried about the unknown.

Because I'm in a good place right now, you know.

Whilst it worries me, it's completely outside my control what

they perceive the danger area to be.

So... I've just got to do what I've tried to do since I first got here,

which is get as much food as I can in.

I came in here with 30 kilos to lose.

I put on 19 just to get here.

Like, I feel like I'm at about the 72 kilo mark.

But I don't know.

I've been starving for 30 days.

I know I've lost a lot of weight.

It's already too long.

You are dropping weight, but at this point in time, things are looking more

happy. Okay. In the medical perspective, okay?

Mm-hmm.

So, we just had a med check.

I really wanted them to take me.

I don't know.

I don't know.

It's just tough.

I'd been fudging the med checks for a little while already anyway.

I'd been gulping down the water beforehand and trying to make myself

heavier. I had enough of that.

I'm ready. If they say it's time to go, I'm ready to go.

And I was actually pretty disappointed that they didn't take me.

I was expecting to come away from that bed shake with them going, oh, that's

great, you're getting food, okay, great, no worries, see you later.

But, no, it's a bit of a flip out, not knowing how you're

going.

So, I don't have a mirror, so I just want to have a look at myself to see how

my fat's going.

And I could do that a little bit in the viewfinder.

Otherwise, I'm just looking down at myself.

Maybe it's worse than I thought. I don't know.

I

can't really

see very well there.

Right. That is still skinfold. Like, that's normal for me.

That amount of skinfold.

And that too.

Look at that. See?

That's still a reasonable amount of skinfold.

You know?

Look at that new muscles.

There's a couple there.

So, yeah, this is what I thought I looked like.

And I think I'm normal weight.

I also can't see the scales, so I'm only guessing what my weight is.

I don't think the dock's going to let me stay here for another 30, unless I'm

really pulling some more fish, but I don't know.

So I really hope I get a bloody eel tonight.

I need one.

I just think the only thing that's going to work, particularly for the eels, is

worms.

Like, I'd love to just get a couple.

If I could, please.

Anybody? Worms?

Such wormy-looking soil.

It's full of really good nutrients. It's dark.

I should have dug up 10 in that lot.

If I can't get worms, I have no viable bait.

I don't know what to do if I can't get worms.

It's tiring doing this work and I quickly get the sense that I'm wasting

my time here.

Come on, there's gotta be freaking worms here.

They're just not here.

I have done my best to get worms out of this place.

And I haven't managed to get one for about five days.

Gap feel is I know I'm not going to find any.

And if I can't get worms, it's a good chance I'm not going to win this.

I've been starving since day one.

My body's wasting away.

I'm only getting worse.

I'm not going to be well soon.

I just want to go home to my family healthy and know that emotionally

I am done.

I need them.

I'm going to go home to my beautiful family.

I miss Steely.

It's going to be nice to hold my

wife's hand.

Hi. I'm ready to go home now.

I've got a beautiful family and I've just been away from them for too long.

I just miss them too much. I don't want to be part of their lives again.

Can you just work on getting me out of here, please?

I don't think I've been so happy in five weeks!

Woohoo!

How you doing?

I'm feeling very relieved.

I just want to be home and I'm so glad to be working towards that.

And yeah, I just want to be back with the people I love.

You know, starving until the doctors came and took me away, I was okay with

that. But um...

Just, yeah, just my heart's pulling me away from here and I can't stop it.

I would have liked to end the journey on a medical tap out.

I think it would have looked better for trying everything, but I realise that a

medical tap out means you're going to hospital and I'm not ready to go to

hospital. I'd rather be back with my family than go to hospital for another

week without them.

I don't know why I did this when I knew I'd miss them.

I guess it was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity and we just took that

sacrifice and I'm ready for it to be over.

I like us being close, needing each other, being there for each other. Just

give me such peace.

So out here I had my faith backing me.

I spent my time here with Jesus, and I'll keep spending my time with him

afterwards.

He wants you to ask for what you need.

He didn't give me what I asked for, and that's okay. For him to know that I

trust in him is important.

I did want to win. I did want to go all the way to the end.

But I'm ready to come out of the furnace.

The amount of weight that I'm losing is a concern.

I haven't been playing smart.

I've just been enjoying myself.

It means I have to really change my strategy and do a lot less and stay a

lot warmer.

But first I have to get my shelter warm.

That's number one.

If I basically made a frame, you could then get the source edge and weave it

really tightly to make a door.

It's got a layer of debris, oil brush, air spaces, some heat retention.

They'll keep the wind out.

The first phase was just like the emergency survival stuff.

Can I get a shelter and can I get a source of calories?

It feels like this is kind of like phase two. They're kind of like the bedding

in.

There we have Dool.

I want to be the first woman to win.

I want to be an example for women to show that anyone can survive in the

wild.

If I leave, I won't be that woman.

So everything now is about preserving the fat that's on my body in every

possible way I can.

I need some new fish heads for my fish head soup.

Can't believe I'm still drinking this one pot of fish bits

after 11 days.

I've had this on the go for 11 days.

But the pot of fish head soup has reached the end of its life.

I can't risk giving myself like the vomits or the trots at this point.

Sad day.

It's a sad day indeed.

Yeah, one of the things that I keep thinking about is the disappointment of

being told you've got to go home.

I want to win this, you know.

I could do with the money, basically.

I really want to win this money so my wife eases the stress on her about money

and that kind of thing.

So that's a lot of money, $250,000.

There's so much riding on this.

And I feel like I've wrung the crap out of it, you know, like just doing

everything I can.

I need meat and I'm not getting it.

What haven't I thought of?

I mean, there's been paddy melons bouncing around and I just keep going

over in my head, how can I get them? How can I get them? This is ridiculous.

Like, I can't hunt them.

with a club at night because I've got a torch on my head and they can see me

coming.

But, last night, there's a paddy mill and I hear something

around camp.

I think there's two.

I started to see some ice shining.

I figured I could deal with a lot of ice.

I managed to pressure it up the track, which was my intention.

And it did run through the clearing where I put the trail cam because I

checked it on the trail cam.

You know, maybe it is worth putting a drop net trap there.

So that's my new purpose in life out here is to make this drop net.

This gives me a new focus.

This paddy melon, if I can get it during this method, there's a good chance that

I'll make the difference between being the last person out here.

So I've got to do everything to get it sorted as quick as I can, really.

There's nothing else, really, that's more important.

Man, after spending ages getting this thing untangled, the winds come up and

it is just a diabolical mess.

So I'm going to move this whole thing into the shelter where it's less windy.

Fucking hell.

It's fucking ridiculous.

It's just so frustrating.

I mean, I've been doing this for hours this morning.

The last gillnet was 2,400 knots.

Third knot.

Oh, just the wind. Yeah, that's great. Good on you. Thanks.

Fuck, I can't even do this fucking knot.

So I'm not really looking forward to the next couple of days of really

frustrating net making.

That's gonna suck.

Last night I laced up the perimeter of the

trap.

Yeah, I'm pretty spent, you know.

I've put a lot of effort into this trap.

And at least it should just be there working for me each night now and I

don't need to do any more work other than maybe reset it if it gets windy.

Putting this thing up. It's a couple of hours of work.

So now it's time for the trigger mechanism.

I've got the wire here runs to a weak point here and a stick that's been cut.

Any pressure on the trip wire will break the join here.

Yeah, that's good.

Net comes down in the patty milling.

Now, this is a bit I've been dreading most. I've got to get the string under

pressure to come off that tree, down through here, tie a knot in it.

There's all this tension on the line.

I can't raise it anymore and I can't take the pressure off to tie the knot.

Unless I do it with my teeth.

Can my teeth hold that amount of pressure?

Oh, this is not good.

I've got a lot of fucking eyelashes.

And I can't really see what I'm really doing because it's too close to my

fucking eyeball.

For fuck's sake.

Fucking ridiculous.

Gosh, for real?

Trying to bite my fucking neck.

Come on, get in there, you fucker.

You fucker.

Fuck's sake.

Get fucked.

Live trapping, they said.

Yeah, yeah, just trap them live. Yeah, yeah, and then kill them. Yeah, don't

set a normal trap. Just catch them like you're at the fucking zoo or something.

Fucking over it. It's fucking bullshit.

Fuck, see them?

Pretty bloody tired, right?

In all sorts of different ways, and it is showing.

Look, I just set it.

Nobody breathe.

No one flinch.

I find that pretty much all my waking thoughts are about food now, about

how to get food.

now i need a wee damn it i didn't even have a drink till like after

four i should have had all my pays by now

Alone Australia is brought to you by Kia.

,000.

I need a wee.

Damn it.

Sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry.

I got a wallaby.

I got a wallaby.

I got a wallaby.

He's just right there and I jumped on him and holy fuck, I got him.

Oh, darling, I'm so sorry.

Oh, I'm sorry.

Holy shit.

Holy shit.

Oh, wow.

Oh, wow.

Oh, you beautiful thing.

Holy fuck.

Holy fuck.

I'm sorry.

I'm sorry.

Okay.

I gotta, I gotta do things.

I gotta, I gotta, I gotta, I gotta dress an animal now.

Wow, okay.

Let's get you out of your skin, my friend.

I reckon there's probably about five kilos of meat on that beast.

And considering I probably have eaten a total of one and a half kilos of protein

fish.

in 35 days oh my god

so good for my poor

protein and nutrient starved body a pelt

and a scone wallaby

Oh, my goodness.

The meat.

Mm.

Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.

Mm. Thank you.

So I'm feeling...

Really, like, lots of things. Like, I'm feeling really activated and excited and

grateful and just that, you know, that

my prayers were answered.

I've been the last few days going, if I don't get an animal, I'm done here.

And then I get an animal.

It's just like, how does that even work?

I mean, I was having a pee.

I wasn't expecting a bloody wallaby to come by.

My body just launched onto it.

And then I donked him.

Bugger off, fly.

It's not for you.

I reckon that animal will keep my body going for at least another

three weeks, which is fantastic.

Because I've cut the pieces quite thick, the salt's going to help to dry them

out, suck the moisture out.

Thank you, Wallaby.

Thank you, Mr. Wallaby.

All your deliciousness.

I just heard some

thumping. I think it's about

Out there.

I'm gonna scare it to the right.

There.

Can't wear this on.

What the hell's going

on?

Oh, the trap's down.

Let's see if there's anything on here.

It's me.

There's a paddy in there. What happened?

This was at 7.48.

He's just on the far side of the trigger mechanism.

Come on, man.

I reckon his nose is on the triple wire.

Is he touching the wire?

What?

Oh my goodness.

He's just got out of the way by that much.

That was it. That was my one freaking chance, man.

I'm not going to reset it now. I'm just going to go to bed and cry.

Man, that sucks.

Get out of bed.

And just... It starts to rain.

I've decided to pull out the family photo for the first time because, yeah,

I'm feeling a bit low.

I kind of was subconsciously saving my photo for that kind of thing because I

find when I look at photos too much, they don't have the same impact when I

look at them.

So, yeah.

Yeah, it's a good photo.

Yeah, I can't wait to get on.

Goodnight. It's not much fun out here.

It's getting harder.

Why am I starving out here?

I could be eating chocolate and peanuts in two hours if I just pick up that sap

bone.

Alone Australia is brought to you by Kia.

Experience the ultimate human endurance as 10 contestants battle to survive

alone in the Tasmanian wilderness, with the winner taking home a prize worth

$250,000.

you probably want to see what i'm doing don't you okay then it's not like me

just going it doesn't mean anything when you like you want to see that it's all

that's left look

Who can't resist a Flintstones moment?

All right.

I need to save some for later, right?

I mean, this has to last me three weeks, at least.

It's just the same stuff, just the day numbers change.

I'm screwed.

That's probably my one shot at that paddy mill.

I've made

Two traps, heaps of effort, and it's all been a waste because

it's not going to come back.

There's a lot to process from this, a lot.

It's hard to motivate myself to get up and do stuff because I'm tired.

And, you know, I was that close to getting a paddy mill.

It works hard to get that failure.

But, you know, I've got to keep doing it.

Oh, there's a big worm.

Look at that.

That's a good bait worm.

That is a celebration right there.

Check that out.

I kind of feel I'm better off spending my time

foraging for bait.

You know, if I can get maybe one or two more worms.

I think there's a reasonable chance I could get a fish, get an eel.

Oh, this one.

I've got a small, small worm.

Barely big enough to bait a hook, but I can probably just get away with it.

Yes.

That is a monster.

Just got a good worm.

Thank goodness.

All

right.

First line, smallest hook, smallest worm, unweighted.

So I'm just going to put it out there.

It doesn't need to go any deeper than that.

All good.

That's one done.

All right, lucky dip. Which worm?

worms has disappeared.

Fucking shit in me. Where's my fucking worm?

Fuck!

Anyway, I'm pretty pissed off.

Pissed off and over it.

Doesn't look like a wallaby anymore.

Get it into nice shape for a, um, for a floor rug.

You know, I have a little floor rug here.

This is when I miss a village.

You know, I just...

I love, like, sitting around where people are just doing things with their

hands. Like, we'll be making pots.

The clay.

To me it just feels like craft is a village thing.

Yeah, I think I feel a bit lonely doing it on my own.

Huh.

I hadn't realised that.

I just got that right then.

It's true.

I feel lonely doing this hide of my own.

Right now, I just want there to be other people here.

I miss them.

Just making, doing this hide, I really miss them.

I miss them.

I miss my people.

I

miss

my people.

i keep coming back to the fact that i think everyone else is getting fish um

regularly i don't know why i'm thinking that but i do i

probably should stop doing it because it um i don't know it doesn't really matter

does it it matters what

i get that's what matters it matters what i get and

How long I last, that's it. It really makes no difference. I just got to keep

telling myself that.

Hey, hang on.

Yes, something's on there.

Freaking beauty.

All right.

Do not stuff this up.

It is a trout.

All right, come on.

Yes!

You bloody beauty.

Oh, that is fantastic.

Oh, thank goodness.

Yes, I got a trout.

I freaking needed this trout.

It's going to be one of the best things I've tasted in my life.

Oh, that looks so good. Yes, it does.

That, oh shit.

That is a slab of meat.

Yeah. Oh, it tastes so good.

Man.

Oh, there's its little heart, see?

See that little triangular thing at the top there?

It's a morale boost overall, you know? 18 days is a bloody long time to get any

meat, no fish, no eel, nothing.

So I've broken that drought, thank goodness.

I could be on the cusp of a week of good fishing.

That could help me win. I could win if I get a week of good fishing.

Yeah, that's good.

No, I'm out of bed.

I know I've dropped weight in the last week.

I still need a whole bunch of other stuff in my diet that I'm not getting.

Oh, for fuck's sake, really?

They're piling now.

This place bangs over the head so hard with the weather, you just have to

expect the worst.

Fucking hell, I want to pain the fucking ass.

I have to do everything I can to win this.

I keep meeting the no.

What the fuck?

And at some point...

The red line will get crossed.

What is that?

Oh, there's a snake. Oh, my God.

I absolutely want to be the last woman standing.

There's no freaking way I'm going to be giving up on this thing.
