because the crab don't stay

in one place, right? They move.

After trading his opilio crab quota for $1.3 million worth of

notoriously hard-to-catch Western bairdi this winter,

Captain Rick prepares to haul 135 pots in deeper waters,

betting they'll reveal fertile grounds

that he can call his own.

I don't think anybody's been out here

this far west.

I want to stay a step ahead of the fleet.

We are still gambling because this is new, fresh ground,

but it'll be our ground.

We got a really good quota this year,

which is exciting, because...

You know, I'm just trying to stay optimistic about it

and get this done.

One of the new guys, Adam, he's gonna go on the stack

for a little bit.

I typically don't like to have a new guy up there,

but got to learn some time.

And hopefully, he becomes an asset.

destabilizes the vessel.

After a safety camera reveals water flooding

the stern compartment and with their bilge pump

not functioning, the Northwestern crew carves

their way to the access hatch...

...to find the leak before 2,000 gallons of seawater

capsize the vessel.

The primary doesn't work. It's still not pumping.

You need to get in there to see what's going on.

The hatch was covered with a lot of pots, so we had to

throw them in the water in the blind.

Clark managed to get splash zone in that area.

It's holding the leak, but it's still leaking water.

And then that primary pump

that we have down in the engine room isn't working.

So, we do have a secondary pump.

There's a vent back there, so he's gonna see if he can

get through that and just have it plumbed and ready to go.

The whole plan here is to be able to have all

the hatches secured,

but still have a way to pump out that laz using

the secondary pump.

Oh, it just fits.

- You got it? - Yeah, hold on.

- Keep pushing it through! - All right.

Hopefully, we'll be fishing here a little bit.
