from Duty as Squadron Captain.

[WOMAN SOBBING]

My son...

How can you leave me like this?

[PIGS SQUEALING]

MAN: Grab the hind legs!

Excuse me, please. Thank you. Excuse me.

Excuse me. Thanks!

Don't lose them!

MAN: Who's in charge here?

These guys suck!

Gosh!

Looks like the captain is only as good as his men!

Who's your captain?

Eh? I am!

Do your higher-ups think a countryside brigade

is only good enough for rejects like your lot?

Come on, hit me.

Hm?

Let it go. Get those pigs. Go on.

[♪♪♪]

One, two, three, four!

ALL: One, two, three, four!

WEIGUO: Special Brigade Squadron One!

ALL: Every member counts on the road to victory!

WEIGUO: Attention!

Eyes left!

Turn right!

Eyes left!

Eyes front!

- [GRUNTS] - [TRAINEE LAUGHING]

What the hell are you laughing at?

Like none of you ever fell before?

[SIGHS]

Captain.

Zheng Zhi. Your discharge is coming up, right?

Yes, captain. Three more months.

So that's why you're so casual now, are you?

- No, captain. - Come here!

[CHUCKLES]

One hundred push-ups.

Ready!

[SIGHS]

Start!

Zheng Zhi. Everyone's doing it with you.

For every push-up you miss,

everyone gets 10 more.

- This is your fault! - Blame my mother!

She forced me to join the military.

I wanted to be in Special Forces,

but they put me in the Fire Brigade!

- Just shut up. - Do your push-ups, man.

- [BABY COOS] - [TOY SQUEAKS, RATTLES]

Honey.

- Have some food before you go. - Dad.

Dad, don't smoke in front of the baby.

[SQUEAKING]

[TOY RATTLES]

If Jiang Liwei hadn't left,

you think you would've been promoted?

[COOING]

Are you disappointed I'm captain now?

[BABY CRIES]

Look over here.

No matter what I've accomplished,

you've never spared a compliment.

- Look here. - Over here.

Sorry for disappointing you.

- Let me. - I think he's hungry.

Come, don't cry.

[♪♪♪]

[BOAT HORN HONKS]

[IN ENGLISH] Is the valve broken again?

Tell them to change to another one.

[IN ENGLISH] Should I tell the Chinese?

Don't talk to the Chinese.

We'd lose a lot of time.

[CLANKS]

[♪♪♪]

Danger! Restricted Areas. No Unauthorized Entry.

[IN MANDARIN] We're good.

Put in the right amount of desulfurizer.

It removes the vulcanizing agent in the crude oil,

helps it move through quicker.

If you get the wrong amount, the oil will explode.

LIWEI [KNOCKING]: Sir!

- Mm, sit down. - Yes, sir.

I have the results from your psych evaluation.

Mm.

According to the doctor,

you should retire from the force.

You're unfit to be a firefighter.

[♪♪♪]

Ten years ago, when I was still in the Squadron,

an old lady protesting for back pay

jumped off a crane, right in front of my eyes.

After that, whenever I see a crane,

my heart sinks.

Later on, I learned what I had was...

post-traumatic stress disorder.

[ONLOOKERS APPLAUDING]

[♪♪♪]

What's wrong?

- Mm? - I'm fine.

This is the first time you've come to the school.

Look at your son.

He looks like he's celebrating Chinese New Year.

When other people celebrate holidays,

firefighters stay on duty.

Go be with him.

Go on.

Off you go.

Go for it! Go for it!

[CHEERING]

This is my dad! He's awesome!

He's a firefighter. Captain of a team.

Your father isn't awesome.

- He got someone killed. - He never got anyone killed.

My dad said so!

Other classmates know too!

The teacher won't let us say it.

Your father got someone killed.

My dad has never gotten anyone killed!

- What do you think you're doing?! - Ah!

- Don't you touch my son again! - Miao Miao!

- Let go of my dad! Let him go! - Liwei! Liwei! Stop!

Calm down!

- Let him go! - Let him go, Liwei.

- Stay calm. - What is wrong with you?!

Dad, did you really get someone killed?

Jiang Miao!

Tell me the truth, Dad!

Did you really get someone killed?

Did you really get someone killed?

[♪♪♪]

[CRYING, SNIFFLING]

[IN ENGLISH] Captain! The tank is empty.

[IN ENGLISH] Don't you know that tank Z is full or only half? Damn it.

I think that we should report this.

[SIZZLING]

Let's move out!

Let's go!

[♪♪♪]

[CELL PHONE RINGING]

Hello?

I'm on my way.

DISPATCHER: Special Brigade Squadron One, get ready.

The fire is at Bingang Oil Depot.

Send one command unit, one foam tender and four water tenders.

[♪♪♪]

Bingang Fire Department

[SIRENS WAILING]

DISPATCHER: There were explosions at the oil tank area.

We've been told that there are over 20 oil tanks in the depot.

The largest one is 100,000 cubic meters.

WEIGUO: We've received an order.

There is a fire at the oil depot.

Everyone in full protective gear. Be careful.

DISPATCHER: We have mobilized the first wave.

Fifteen squadrons are mobilized.

Reinforcements will be called in if needed.

Smile into the camera.

Relax. Good.

Miss! Miss!

- You can't leave with the dress! - I'll pay you back.

[GASPS]

- Be careful. - Careful with me or the dress?

- Wang Lu. - Hurry up!

Crap, the oil tanks have exploded!

We have to get home.

Major explosion at the Bingang Oil Depot

Hi. This is Fire Inspector Wang Lu.

Ask the port manager to wait for me. I'm on my way.

"We'll take it one step at a time."

What the hell does that mean?

I asked you about our future.

What do you mean, "one step at a time"?

I mean, we'll wait and see.

- Xu Xiaobin! - Yes, ma'am!

I'm listening, ma'am!

Go to hell.

[SIRENS BLARING]

This is Jiang Liwei of Dongshan Squadron.

Please report on the scene of the fire.

Hurry!

WEIGUO [OVER RADIO]: Listen up. We're on the scene now.

Put on your protective gear.

Have two trucks ready to pump, get four hoses.

Two water, two foam.

Hey, Wang Lu!

I'm...

Wang Lu!

COMMAND CENTER

[♪♪♪]

How are we doing with remote water?

One second.

[WANG LU TYPING]

The remote water supply is in position.

COMMANDER: Fenglin Squadron!

MEN: Go!

Move!

- On the double! - Come on!

Hurry up!

Come on! Hurry!

- Get those hoses laid down! - Yes, sir!

Move it!

- Move it! - Move it!

- Move it! - Hurry!

Follow me!

This way.

Truck one, activate remote water supply. Right now!

Roger that.

[WHIRRING]

[♪♪♪]

[OVER RADIO] Command, come in.

Water supply is in place. All functions normal.

Hurry!

There was an explosion in the pipe under Tank A01,

causing crude oil to spill.

The fire dike collapsed.

Uneven terrain has caused a spill fire.

Command is ordering you to contain the spill

as quickly as possible and put out the fire.

We're dividing the scene into four zones:

East, West, South, and North.

The Assistant Chief and I will take full command.

The Chief of Staff and three Deputy Chiefs

will each be in charge of one zone.

All squadrons will be led

by the commander of each zone.

Make adjustments if you're understaffed.

Ensure sufficient foam and water supply.

Fire Prevention Department is gathering intel.

If there's any problem,

- report to Command immediately! - ALL: Yes, sir!

Li Hong'en, General Manager of the Port.

Do you have anything to add?

No, sir.

What I'm worried about right now...

is Tank A01, which is the closest to the fire.

It is quiet now, but the fire has been heating it up

all this time.

That tank is 100,000 cubic meters in volume,

80 meters in diameter and 20 meters tall.

No one knows what it's capable of.

But right now, we need to let it know

what we're capable of!

ALL: Yes, sir!

[♪♪♪]

Special Squadron, move in!

ALL: Yes, sir!

Attack here!

Go!

Move in!

Over here!

Move in!

Here!

Get in there!

Keep going! This way!

The spill fire is under control.

The area of the fire is getting smaller.

Good.

[♪♪♪]

[WHISTLING]

[COMPUTER BEEPING]

WANG LU: Fire shooting out of Tank A01.

The staircase has collapsed. The emergency water pump is damaged.

All strike teams!

Get ladders and foam hooks ready.

Put out the fire on top of the tank.

Ladders are set. Ready to extend.

Hooks up!

[♪♪♪]

They're close enough.

All battle zones, on my signal... Go!

[♪♪♪]

[METAL CREAKING]

COMMANDER: Strike team one in position.

Team two, stand by!

Pull again!

It's going to explode.

Run!

Fall back! Fall back now! It's going to explode.

Listen to me! Get out of here! Get out of here!

Go! Stop climbing!

The tank is going to explode. We need to retreat!

- You may be afraid, but I'm not! - Get these men out of here!

- I'm not going to be a coward. - Trust me.

Let it go!

[ALL SCREAM]

Whoa! That's scary!

[GROANING]

[GROANING]

[SCREAMING]

Get everyone out! Help the injured!

[SCREAMING]

Help the injured!

The fire! The fire's coming, run!

Fall back! Fall back!

Get everyone out!

All units, enact defense procedures!

Get the injured out.

Retreat! Run!

Get back!

[♪♪♪]

Hurry up!

Be careful!

Authorized personnel only Wear protective clothing

NURSE: There are severe burns on the face.

We have to treat them immediately.

- Get me gauze and salt water. - Don't touch it.

Don't move, you'll be fine.

I don't even have a girlfriend yet.

- You'll have one, don't worry. - Come with me right now.

All the other squadrons are heroes.

Look at him.

He's a hero.

And him. He's a hero too.

But you made us stay back.

[GASPING]

The entire Dongshan Squadron are cowards!

Look at him.

If all the commanders are like you,

then we'll all die in vain.

Like that rookie of yours.

[SHUDDERING]

[♪♪♪]

[♪♪♪]

Don't cry.

Remember to bring my father's medicine

and get as far away as you can.

Don't wait! Or you won't be able to leave. You hear me?

Why won't they be able to leave?

[EXPLOSIONS IN DISTANCE]

I'll tell you the truth.

Before the workers could close the valves,

the control center went up in flames.

All the valves in Oil Depot One

and in the pipes between the tanks are still open.

What you're saying is that all the oil in those tanks

is flowing towards Tank A01 and out through the pipes?

Yes.

Get to Command and tell them the truth right now!

[♪♪♪]

HONG'EN: Commander, all the valves

between the tanks in Oil Depot One are open.

We're in grave danger.

Why didn't you say so when I asked you?

I...

I thought you'd put out the fire quickly!

But right now...

Tank A01 isn't the most dangerous.

Look.

The most dangerous place

is the chemical-tank zone across the road.

It stores large amounts of benzene,

xylene and also...

cyanide.

Benzene is a Class-A fire hazard.

It can numb the nervous system.

When cyanide is inhaled in large amounts,

a person loses consciousness in seconds

and breathing capabilities in 15 minutes.

If the chemical tanks explode...

All 8 million people in the city are in danger.

Secretary Fang.

[PHONE CHIMES]

Stop eating.

I've barely started.

My friend says we have to leave.

His uncle's friend who works at the oil depot.

He says the explosions are escalating.

- Are you serious? - Why would I lie to you?

Get your stuff. Let's go!

[CAR HORNS HONKING]

- Taxi! - Taxi!

- Taxi! - Hey, taxi!

- I'll report you! - Let's take the subway.

Mom, I booked you a plane ticket.

I'm coming to pick you up.

Sources tell me about a thousand firefighters are on the scene.

And the province's foam reserve is running out.

- Any truth to these rumors? - At this moment,

it's true that only Bingang's fire brigades

are on the scene right now.

However, they won't be fighting alone.

Brigades from cities across the province

are on their way to the fire right now.

[SIRENS BLARING]

A little boy is hurt, so the ambulance showed up.

[CELL PHONE RINGING]

In the ambulance, there are...

Hello, Liwei?

Honey?

Tell our son that...

when I get out of here,

I'll take him to school every day.

- What's happening? - Don't ask.

You know I can't tell you.

[PEOPLE CLAMORING]

Hey, are you all right?

Don't worry. I'll come find you when it's over.

- Talk to Miao Miao, then. - Sure.

EMERGENCY GENERATOR TRUCK

Wei Lei?

Miao Miao, it's your dad.

Talk to him.

Be good, talk to him.

Dad.

[WATER DRIBBLING OVER PHONE]

Huh?

The only solution is to shut down the two sets of valves

that lead from Tank A01 to other tanks.

This will stop the fire from spreading to the chemical tanks.

How do we do that?

Secretary Fang.

All we need to do is get someone in there

to turn on the power to the valves.

I've called in a generator truck...

but the technician refuses to go in.

I offered him 200,000 yuan.

He says he doesn't want to die in there.

One of your firefighters said he'd talk to the technician.

I don't know how it went.

- What are you doing? - What the hell?

Get back!

Let me go. Ah!

Are you scared to die?

Is he right about the effects of the explosion?

WANG LU: It'll be worse.

According to our estimates,

the magnitude of the chemical explosion

would be equivalent to 20 atomic bombs...

combined with the fallout from toxic chemicals.

If the crude oil in the tanks spills into the ocean...

and if the spill fire on the water gets out of control...

LIWEI [OVER RADIO]: Command, come in.

- This is Jiang Liwei. - I'm laying the cable.

Wei Lei and I are heading to Zone B to close the valves.

And the money?

But the money you promised him,

it needs to be paid.

Of course, definitely.

All these years, I've been telling you to wait for orders.

You never listened.

Make sure Wei Lei is safe.

Roger that.

I suggest we ask the provincial government

to request additional manpower and supplies

from the central government.

The Governor and the Provincial Party Secretary

are already on their way here.

The Air Force is also sending helicopters to assist.

To all of you,

to us and everyone in this city,

tonight will be the greatest challenge we'll ever face.

Miao Miao, pack these up.

Take this too.

Put the asthma medicine in the side pocket

so you can reach it anytime.

Help me think of what else we need.

- Dad's stuff. - What?

This is the most important thing to your father.

Take it.

- Keep it safe for him, all right? - Mm.

Put it away.

[♪♪♪]

WEIGUO: Come again?

Come again?

Do you copy?

Command, Command.

This is Ma Weiguo of Special Brigade Squadron One.

Why is our elite unit being pulled back?

We should be at Tank A01 fighting the fire.

Who are you to give me orders? You listen to me.

You stay in front of the chemical tanks

and keep the area clear.

Keep the tanks safe and don't move a damn inch!

[♪♪♪]

- Special Brigade Squadron One! - ALL: Here!

We're to hold this position. Don't take a step back.

Check your gear and stick to your orders. Clear?

ALL: Yes, sir!

Zheng Zhi. Zheng Zhi!

- Yes, sir! - You've got nothing to do?

Think you're on a damn field trip? Go get me some foam!

- Yes, sir. - Go!

On my way, sir.

Start running!

There are four valves on each set of switches.

Two in, two out.

We have to close all of them

to stop the oil from flowing into A01...

and to stop the burning oil from getting into other tanks.

How do we know they're closed?

Once the power is connected,

the screw will turn automatically,

closing the valve.

See that up there?

- Turn the power on! Turn it on! - Roger that.

We're okay.

[SQUEAKING]

We're almost out of foam, get more over here.

- We're out of foam, get more. - Wait! Let me have those two.

- Get the ones over there. - Where am I supposed to go?

[GRUNTING]

Fire Department

[♪♪♪]

[TIRES SQUEALING]

Hey! Help! Hurry! Somebody help!

Here we go.

[♪♪♪]

- How's it looking? - Lots of garbage down there.

Clean it once an hour.

Make sure the pump keeps functioning. Come on up.

Hand me the trash.

Get up here.

Hang on tight!

[GRUNTING]

Are you okay?

[SNIFFS]

NEWSCASTER [OVER RADIO]: Attention, drivers on the road.

There's been a major fire in the port area.

The government has mobilized fire engines

from across the province.

LI FANG: I'll pay anything for a ticket!

MAN: I wanted to try my luck at the airport,

but people were running away.

Stop it, Miao.

[♪♪♪]

[METAL CRUNCHING]

[HORNS HONKING]

Are you all right?

- What's wrong with you? - I wasn't paying attention.

Forget it, let's take the subway.

[♪♪♪]

Take my hand!

Let's go. Don't let go!

Hurry.

Don't push!

- Don't push! - Mom! Mom!

Mom! Mom!

There are children here, stop pushing!

Turn the power on now!

Let's get a selfie.

Pretty sure I won't be doing anything like this ever again.

I'll brag about it for the rest of my life.

[SHUTTER CLICKING]

Once we close the valves,

I'll brag for you.

Thanks.

- There you go. - Ha-ha-ha!

Command, come in. The valves in Zone B are closed.

We're heading to Zone A to close the remaining valves.

Watch out!

- Miao! - Mom!

Miao Miao!

My son!

Stop pushing my son! Ah!

GUARD: Get behind the line! Behind the line!

Miao Miao!

Miao Miao!

Miao Miao! Miao Miao!

- I'll get off at the next stop! - Mom!

Mom!

I'll come back from the next station for you!

Mom!

I'll come back from the next station!

Mom!

[♪♪♪]

Get out of here!

[YELLING]

Run!

Help me!

Move it!

Get up there! Go!

Fire! You're on fire! Ah!

Let me go! Ah!

- LIWEI: You can't leave! - We need to leave!

Or we'll die here!

I don't care. You need to close those valves.

Have you lost your mind?

The generator truck is gone!

The road is blocked!

I don't want to die!

If I'm gonna die, I'll die with my family!

[♪♪♪]

[HELICOPTER WHIRRING]

PILOT [OVER RADIO]: Command Center, come in.

We have arrived on the scene.

Permission to drop powder on the fire.

Permission granted.

[PANTING]

Dry powder's here!

CHENGUANG: The helicopter is about to release powder.

All firefighters retreat to safe shelter.

[♪♪♪]

[COUGHING]

[YELLS]

[GROANS]

Retreat!

Find shelter right now!

The spill fire is coming!

It's on the way!

The fire is pushing towards the tanks!

Protect the dike! Protect the tanks at all costs!

Special Brigade Squadron One!

We will stay here, and we will fight till the end!

ALL: Yes, sir!

Hit it!

Forward!

Over there!

Bro...

Come with me.

I know the way out.

I can get us out.

Maybe we can get out alive.

Don't you have a wife and child?

Go home and get them out of town.

There's still a chance.

Firefighters are people too.

Come with me, man.

Do you hear me?

If this place explodes, so does the whole city.

Let's go, man.

We have to go!

[♪♪♪]

Come on.

We have to go!

Bro! Come back!

Bro!

Can you hear me?

As long as I'm alive...

I'll remember you!

Even if we send another generator truck,

it won't do any good.

Look, Secretary Fang,

Tank A01 is surrounded by fire.

The oil pressure is too high,

and there's so much oil in that tank.

If you ask me...

it's not going to hold out for long.

Only we stand between the people and this fire.

We have to hold out, no matter what!

Assemble all the commanders.

WOMAN [OVER SPEAKER]: Due to the explosion

at the Bingang Oil Depot,

all exits are closed.

Please leave the station.

Open the door! Is anyone there? Anyone?

Open the door! Open the door!

Anyone there?!

What are you doing?! Put down that rock.

Put it down.

My son is inside! Open the door!

- Calm down. - Open the door!

OUTPATIENT EMERGENCY

[SIRENS BLARING]

Excuse us!

Excuse us!

Right away.

[SCREAMING]

DOCTOR: Calm him down. Hang in there.

Those of you... who are Party members

or have siblings,

please step forward.

What are you doing up here?

- Step back. - Sir...

- I said, step back! - Sir!

Step back!

Your mission

is to protect the chemical tanks!

Party members, you have an obligation.

Those with siblings, your parents are taken care of.

So you will form a strike team.

To be honest, it's a suicide mission.

Go in and manually close the valves at Tank A01.

The road into the fire is blocked,

but we will find a way to open another path.

Sir.

Please send me in.

I've been in there.

I know where the valves are.

I'm the best man for this mission. Trust me, sir.

Bring another man with you. The strike team will escort you in.

I want Dongshan Squadron to open the path.

I know they can do it.

Everyone else, remain in your positions.

If the first wave fails,

those who stayed behind will take their place.

ALL: Yes, sir!

We will succeed, sir!

What are you thinking?

Guess.

You think you're hot shit now, don't you?

[CHUCKLING]

Hey.

Got a cigarette?

We're at an oil depot. You wanna die?

I want a cigarette before I go in there.

Come on. Give me one.

It's wet.

- Here, take this one. - That one.

They're all soaked.

Can't light a cigarette in a fire.

Hmm?

Is it not lighting up?

[SNIFFS]

[SIGHS]

I'm going in.

[♪♪♪]

Jiang Liwei! Let's get a drink when you come back!

[♪♪♪]

Starting today,

all of you can say with your heads held high:

We're Dongshan Squadron!

ALL: We're Dongshan Squadron!

We're Dongshan Squadron!

We're Dongshan Squadron!

Are you ready?!

ALL: Ready, sir!

- Move out! - ALL: Yes, sir!

[♪♪♪]

[SIZZLES]

[CREAKING]

Miao Miao!

Miao Miao!

Miao Miao!

Miao Miao!

Have you seen a child about this tall?

MAN: Go find him yourself!

- Miao Miao! - Miss! Miss! Give me a hand?

- My wife's in labor. - Ah!

Can you help me take her to the hospital?

But I'm looking for my son.

- How will you...? - Miao Miao!

How will you find him? It's total chaos.

A lot of people are in hospitals.

You can ask about him there.

Honey, it hurts.

Please help us.

I beg you.

Let me in!

[ALL SHOUTING]

I have a ticket!

Let me in!

I have a ticket, let me in!

Let me in!

Let me in!

The last three tickets.

MAN: I'll pay double!

When are those tanks gonna blow?

First, they say it's half an hour.

Now they say the tanks already exploded.

How unsettling.

How much did you spend on the tickets? Huh?

I worked so hard to save money.

I told you to leave him.

Everyone else in the station did.

We're in a crisis.

And his mother abandoned him!

That's not true! My mom didn't abandon me!

[TOY SIREN BLARING]

See?

We have to get rid of this kid.

A little more to the front.

Stop.

How is everything over there?

WANG LU: Command to Fenglin Squadron, Xu Xiaobin.

Please report on the status of the remote water supply.

- It's your fiancée, Xiaobin. - I know.

She's throwing a tantrum.

She wants me to say something nice.

I'll only have a few hundred bucks left after the wedding.

There's no point talking about it.

If I want to give her a comfortable life,

I need to work my ass off.

You'll get it when you're older, ha!

Command to Fenglin Squadron, Xu Xiaobin.

Please update the status of the remote water supply.

Command to Fenglin Squadron. This is Wu Chenguang.

- Come in when you hear this. - Give me the radio.

Come in, Command.

This is Xu Xiaobin of Fenglin Squadron.

I was busy cleaning the water pump.

The remote water supply is doing just fine.

But it does have a bit of a temper.

A little improvement will make it perfect.

Over and out.

[CHUCKLES]

Looks like this fire has come at a bad time.

[♪♪♪]

[ALARM BLARING]

- Captain! - Yeah?

I'm almost out of oxygen.

I'm getting the alert too.

- Take it off. - All right.

Command, come in.

We've been at this for 45 minutes,

why aren't the valves closed yet?

[♪♪♪]

Didn't you say that they can be closed in 10 minutes?

What the hell is going on?

I don't know.

They've never been manually closed before.

All I know is that...

80 rotations...

is one click.

And it needs 100 clicks...

to close one valve.

Why the hell do you keep lying to us?!

I...

I'm not lying!

I'm still here, aren't I?!

This port has been around for a century.

It can't die on my watch.

A lot of people in this city rely on it to make a living.

If I tell you everything,

who'd have the guts to go in and put out the fire?

How will the port be saved?

You don't know a damn thing about firefighters.

[RADIO CLICKS]

Each valve...

takes 8000 rotations to close.

Fuck.

Captain.

Can we really do this?

Whether it's 8000...

80,000...

or 800,000, we still have to close it.

[GRUNTING]

Hang in there.

Come here, take a seat.

[GROANS, PANTING]

Sir! Please open the door.

She's in labor.

- Please open the door. - There's no room. Go away.

- Please help us. Open the door. - We're out of room.

- Sir, she's in labor! - I know.

- Miss! Her water broke. - Ah!

Hang in there.

- Sir, her water broke. - Just go away!

Don't you have a mother? Don't you have kids?

I've got no room and no kids. Just go away.

Sir!

[SCREAMS]

Miss!

Let's go.

One, two, three!

- Why? - They've all boarded the ferry.

Why won't you let us in?!

Why?! Why?!

[♪♪♪]

Don't you dare run away.

I need your parents to pay us back for your ticket.

The ferry's already overloaded. Let them wait for the next one.

Let's go!

[FERRY HORN BLOWING]

What's wrong? What's wrong with you?

Does he have asthma?

He won't make it if we don't get him to a hospital.

[HORN BLOWING]

[CHATTERING, YELLING]

Oh, no! The ferry's leaving!

Why is the ferry leaving already?

[WHEEZING]

Look...

I mean...

we've already lived here our entire lives.

Why don't we...

stay here?

Let's get him to the hospital.

Okay.

MAN [OVER SPEAKER]: All citizens, please remain calm.

Please follow the instructions of the police

and go to government shelters in an orderly manner.

The provincial government has already requested

manpower and supplies from the central government.

The military has also mobilized reinforcements.

The central government has also ordered

that lives and properties must be protected at all costs.

Mix the concrete and block the fire.

Hurry!

[ALL GRUNTING]

Go high, over there!

[EXPLOSIONS]

Move forward! Go!

Zheng Zhi! Zheng Zhi!

I know, get some more foam.

- Move your ass! Go! Go! - On my way!

The temperature in Tank A01 is rising again.

Attention, all battle zones. Tank A01 may explode again.

All efforts shift to lowering the temperature.

Buy more time for the strike team.

[♪♪♪]

[COUGHING]

[GROANING]

[YELLS]

I think my valve is closed!

[GRUNTING]

[CLICKS]

This one is closed too.

The valves across the way are the only ones left.

[♪♪♪]

We'll have to climb over.

Yes, sir!

Let's go!

[EXPLOSION]

Captain!

[SCREAMS]

[GRUNTING]

Hang on tight.

Don't let go!

Steady!

Watch the steps.

- Doctor! - Somebody help!

- This way. - My wife's in labor.

Come with me.

Come on, take a deep breath. Relax. Relax.

[SCREAMING]

[GROANS]

Excuse me, have you seen this child?

He's wearing a red cap and blue vest. He's about this tall.

- This is my son, Jiang Miao. - There are many kids here.

Go ahead and look for him yourself.

Doctor,

I'm stuck because I can't move,

but why are you all still here?

Well, you want to operate on yourself?

Don't even think about it.

How is he doing?

His breathing and heart rate are normal now

Good. Don't worry, kid.

We asked the police to look for your parents.

They'll be here to pick you up in no time.

[CURTAIN CLOSES]

[♪♪♪]

These two valves are almost closed.

- Captain. - Huh?

Have some water.

[SPITS, COUGHING]

Foam water tastes like crap. Why didn't you tell me?

[METAL CREAKING]

Captain.

Do you hear that?

Listen.

It'll be okay, don't worry.

It's okay.

It'll be fine, man.

[SOBBING]

Guys,

from the day we became firefighters,

we have prepared to make the ultimate sacrifice, haven't we?

I know I've been tough on you.

I know I can be harsh.

Especially on you. And you.

But I can tell all of you today

that I am damn proud of you.

Each of us should leave

some parting words for our families.

If we die here, we should let them know what we've done here.

If your parents are still around, tell your parents.

If you have kids,

then tell your kids.

Go ahead.

Mom...

I want to go back home for a few days.

I want to have hot pot with you guys.

I miss you.

[SNIFFS]

Mother...

it's Yilun.

Don't you always complain...

If we meet again in the next life,

I'll take care of y'all for sure.

Pa, Ma...

y'all take care of yourselves, you hear?

Let me give you a proper salute.

[♪♪♪]
