I'm pretty stoked, because for the first time,

it's all about the actual studio audience to vote.

And our audience is special. We've got super fans.

I've been watching the show since Season 1!

And we've got "Voice" alumni here.

They know what it's like.

They know the pressure of this situation.

It's a responsibility to not take lightly.

This is very difficult.

Like, some of these artists are going to be selling out arenas.

I'm happy it's out of my hands.

It's in the hands of people in the audience who are going

to see this happen in real time. It's really cool.

Tonight, the stakes are higher than ever,

so we had to invite somebody who knows

how to play high stakes games.

I've been on this journey since I was 14 years old.

My dad is a pastor. Grew up in church,

Our very first season, Vicci Martinez, Dia Frampton,

Erin Willett, Chris Mann, Jamar Rogers, Nakia.

Vicci, you were finalists.

What advice do you have for our artists tonight?

You know, I feel like what the world needs now is healing.

So if you're going to come, bring us to church,

you know? Take us to church and heal all of us.

Heal the audience, and we'll let you go forward.

Oh, great advice. I think we're off to a good start with that.

with Team Kelly's pop singer from Indiana

who's showing a more emotional side.

Here's more from Mikenley Brown.

During the All Star show, I had someone, like, come

all the way across the stage and put lipstick on me.

I was like, I feel a little too bougie for--

to be asking for that.

It's crazy that I went from delivering people's food

to now singing on stage for the world to see.

Mikenley, I don't think there's anyone like you.

Thank you. Even down to, like, your wardrobe.

You came out here, and I was like, I want that sweater.

I was like--

One of the biggest things

that Kelly has taught me is to be myself.

You and your cute sweaters.

I definitely feel empowered, but I feel like I have to deliver

the performance of my life to get into the finale,

and I can almost taste the win.

I can almost taste it.

It's the semifinals, right?

Well, our team is lucky 'cause of

Girl Named Tom and Jake winning us another slot.

So kick ass is what you need to do.

I'm going to do my best.

Mikenley picked a really strong song for a competition.

But also, she definitely makes it her own.

And she does it in such a cool,

unique way that she's going to stand out.

So she's a hard one to beat.

Do you think that I should sing both choruses in my chest voice?

I love how you go in and out. Okay.

I love how you put this rasp.

It reminds me like a little bit of Adele.

Like, it's beautiful, but it's also

like you might key someone's car.

Yeah. Your runs are really cool,

but they're everywhere. Like, even on like "hurts,"

you don't need to do a run there.

Look, we're voting differently this season. These are

the people in the audience that are voting if you make it

through or not. So you've got to be able to reach them.

It's hard to reach them if you're doing runs the whole time.

Don't take them all out.

But just like 3/4 of what you were doing.

Okay, cool. If she just dials it back

a tiny bit, and then it creates more space

for it to really be able to sit with the song

and be in the song with her. Instead of

her singing at people, they become a part of it.

She just has this factor about her.

You just want to like, what kind of record would you make?

Mikenley, I am beaming over here.

This was easily your best performance.

I loved the crackle in your voice.

That rasp? That rasp. It was really beautiful.

She said, "And I know, and I know, and I know."

I think you might have snuck up on people

and shown them something that they may not have expected.

And that was so well done. I absolutely loved it.

I'll just add on to what Mr. Legend was saying.

I think this was definitely your best performance.

It was a lot more of what we, I think, all loved about you

when we first turned around for you in the blinds.

It was really, really beautiful and definitely snuck up.

I'm using all of his sound bites. Sorry.

I say awesome things. You can say them, too.

You do, you do. So I'm basically

just repeating what he said. It's okay.

So I'll try to find one thing he didn't say,

which is your head voice into your falsetto,

the way you dance in there is your superpower as a singer.

It's so beautiful.

Believability is a huge thing for me,

because a lot of people come out here and sing great songs,

but I don't buy it. And I buy it from you.

where I'm impressed by you in rehearsals.

and I was like, I know I'm supposed to say something here.

I did say something, though,

because you were doing those incredible runs,

and I love that you held back on some of the runs,

and you made them more special. It was so perfect.

I hadn't really seen Mikenley be

That was very special. I'm so grateful for this experience.

And now I have another level of confidence as an artist.

It's like the soundtrack to my life.

When you're traveling as a background vocalist,

you get to see so many artists,

and I got a chance to meet Babyface at the BET Honors.

That inspired me so much

that I moved to L.A. to pursue music.

My niche is those classic love songs, and this is one of them.

'90s R&B is making a big resurgence right now.

This has to be a really proud moment for you,

'cause you're like, okay, finally I get to have my moment.

Jeremy, you make it look so easy, starting out so smooth,

and then going in that

that little-- It was so nice.

Sing, Kelly. And it was so pretty.

You have like so many gears to, like,

not only your voice, but your energy.

And the thing is, is you're so humble about it,

and it's almost a shame that you make it look so effortless,

'cause it looks like you were just like, walked out

of your damn house and you're like, so I think I'll do this.

But I really want people to know, like,

what you're doing is incredibly difficult.

It's a beautiful thing to behold.

It literally is like being at an award show.

This is my favorite performance of yours in this competition.

I feel like everybody's stepping up to new levels today,

which is the right time to do it, by the way,

because it showed all the things that you have in your toolbox.

You were smooth and perfect

and pristine and clean at the beginning,

but then you growled and were passionate by the end,

and I felt like it was a really well rounded performance.

Jeremy, I feel like you accomplished

in this performance, in my mind,

exactly what you set out to come here and do.

You had to kind of like get out of your head

and be that visceral singer that does growl

and does do that big moment that lets it go and unleashes it all.

I think, for you. I'm just so proud of you, man.

It's gonna be hard to choose the winner for sure.

I am so enjoying this.

We just get to sit here and watch them sing.

We don't have to even decide who goes to the next round.

I love peers voting. I absolutely love that.

I think that's genius, 'cause they know what's up,

they know what it takes, and they're in the room,

which is hugely important.

I truly believe our alumni are going to be really fair,

and they're going to do what's right for the music

and right for the artists...

'Cause they've been in their shoes.

...and pick the best person.

Hopefully we'll get some really good finalists.

It must be really hard for you guys,

'cause only one of your people move through.

You don't understand our plight.

Yeah. You wouldn't know. I wouldn't know.

I did not expect to get this far,

so just being here is an absolute blessing, so...

My dad says when you pay for experience,

you should always keep the receipt.

It's too expensive to pay for twice.

I love that.

It feels so cool to be in the semifinals.

It's very humbling knowing

that there's so many talented people around me,

and I get to be one of them.

I always expected to be in the semifinals with you.

You've consistently been a stellar vocalist.

But I want us to think about the feedback

we got in the last round.

You don't have that part that captivates you

that makes me want to cry, which you are capable of.

That's the only connection I'm missing from you.

Everybody knows how incredible you are.

Question is, are you able

to speak to their hearts? Yeah.

Your mission now is not to be the best singer.

It's to be a great, meaningful, impactful artist.

Yeah. It's scary for me

to have that emotional connection

for fear of being rejected.

When my parents got divorced, I was 10, 11.

I feel like that's where it stemmed.

I unfortunately do not have a relationship with my father,

and that has definitely bled into my music.

And that's a real problem,

because I want to be vulnerable on stage.

So for this round, I'm excited to finally let go and do that.

This is the number one song that I wanted to sing when I started,

so, I'm singing "Soulshine" by the Allman Brothers Band.

First off, it's Southern rock, which is my bread and butter.

I mean, that's what I love to do.

I love the Lynyrd Skynyrd, the Allman Brothers,

and it's got soul, man. You know, it speaks about

finding light where there is none,

you know, when you feel lost and you got nothing to live for,

and, you know, you find the light in your soul.

This song is perfect for the semifinals

'cause I really get to put my heart and soul

I was in the Navy from 2012 to 2016.

Spending so many months at sea, it'll wear on you.

When I was gone for months at a time,

I could always give my dad a call,

and he was really my guiding light,

because he's been through that.

You know, he's been on multiple deployments.

He knew what to say to kind of keep me reeled in.
