Two Athenas?

No...

It was Metis...

The other Athena.

Metis?

Zeus's first wife and Athena's mother.

That's the Metis you mean?

Yeah...

In the other world,

that old man Susano told me about her.

Metis? I didn't know that...

Yeah, she's likes to mess around quite a bit.

She tries to swallow the heavens.

Swallow the heavens?

Alongside her daughter,

she, too, is actually a Snake.

Snake goddesses control the underworld,

goddesses of death and darkness.

She wants to swallow the sky whole,

plunging everything into darkness.

Then this is the prophecy of the Starless Night's realization...

It would make sense to assume so.

Once Athena retakes her true form, this world will fall into ruin.

The Athena in the prophecy of the Starless Night

really referred to Metis.

Sharpen it

Slash it up

CAMPIONE!

What do you want to know?

Hey, tell me

Prayers don't make it to Heaven

You smiled and all you said was that

You wanted to protect me

The usurper that forces people to know

What it means to be strong

Tell me everything about your soul

Within all the words that make up this legend

There are all of these feelings that connect us

The blade that showed your courage

Open the door and take the miracle

Tale of the God-slayer

Tale of the God-slayer Guess I wasn't in time.

Guess I wasn't in time.

I wanted to recover the Gorgoneion somehow, but...

I'll really have to hurry now.

Erica!

I'm fine...

Hold on for a second, Athena.

This won't take long.

Ena's Ama no Murakumo!

That's the God-slayer, huh?

I'll play with you!

Godou Kusanagi.

I'm fine.

But shouldn't a Snake goddess

have trouble with a Steel sword tied to a hero?

How can she swallow Susano's katana?

Susano Wo No Mikoto...

Perseus.

While it's true that heroes aligned with the sword

kill Snakes, the goddesses' avatars,

those heroes could never have obtained their swords without the Snakes or goddesses.

Susano Wo No Mikoto slew

Yamata no Orochi in order to save Princess Kushinada.

And from its corpse, he drew the sword Ama no Murakumo.

Now that you mention it,

Perseus used Medusa's head as a weapon,

and he rescued the captured princess.

You could say a hero's swords and tools of war

are the power bestowed by Snakes and goddesses.

So essentially, they're all the same!

Then she is...

I guess you could say she's a Snake that devours Steel.

Godou, take Athena and run.

If Metis swallows Athena,

the world will definitely end.

In that case, I'll fight her!

You take her-

Can you fight her?

I doubt you can deal with her,

as you've already used your Golden Sword.

But...

Godou, you are our last bastion.

I can't permit a foolish act like using our trump card before trying all else.

Go forth, Godou Kusanagi.

It is the duty of a King's knights

to shield the King until he regains his power.

And it is a King's duty to respond to the wishes of his knights.

Ama no Murakumo belongs to Ena.

I won't let you stop me.

Liliana...

Seishuuin...

Quickly, this way!

Godou...

You guys...

Don't worry about me.

I plan to resume our kiss where we left off.

Mariya!

I can't just leave them behind and escape with you.

Mariya!

You could have just gone with him.

I said that I'd allow him to have one mistress.

Unfortunately for you,

I believe Godou and my relationship will go beyond mere friendship.

I have a feeling.

So, then you'll become his official wife?

I'm not sure...

But I think our relationship will grow in that direction.

So you can finally say it.

Making a woman reveal so much, Godou...

But that's why he is my Godou.

She's coming!

Now I...

Dodge!

The blackouts happening worldwide

continue to grow in size...

The world is being plunged into chaos. continue to grow in size...

The world is being plunged into chaos.

Should I continue in this direction?

Yeah, keep going straight.

Where are we going?

Our country's largest power spot.

Power spot?

Yes, the sacred mountain Fuji.

A shrine there has special protective spiritual power that should help,

if only slightly, to hide our presence.

Godou Kusanagi?

That was my Snake, was it not?

I just can't get used to how you say things.

Are you sure you're Athena?

Athena...

Is that my name?

Looks like she's lost her memory.

That Snake is me...

No, what I used to be, right?

Seems she really has...

Part of Athena resides in the Gorgoneion,

and it took the appearance of her mother, Athena's archetype.

And that's what we're calling Metis.

Metis wishes to swallow everything,

and bring destruction to this world.

And to accomplish that, she needed to absorb Athena.

Then, Athena has no memory because...

Metis may have taken it,

along with Athena's godly powers.

Currently, Athena has no memory or power.

She's like a god's cast-off skin.

Cast-off skin...

Oh? Interesting.

I didn't know humans like you existed.

That's...

I can feel Godou...

Fly, Boots of Hermes!

Godou's breath, Godou's warmth...

They're all within me.

She managed...

...to push back a god?

I'm happy, Godou.

I may never feel greater happiness

than I feel right now, not even until the day I die.

That's how happy I am.

And that's why, until it fades...

Until Godou's power fades from me...

Lili?

I wouldn't wish to lose to you.

If I go away to the sea,

I shall be a washed-up corpse.

If I go away to the mountain,

I shall be a corpse in the grass.

Huh? What's going on?

Hurry!

We can only stop her for a short period of time!

My power's back.

I guess a day has passed.

Erica, Mariya, Liliana, Seishuuin...

I can't tell how they're doing from here, can 1?

Godou Kusanagi...

Am I a god?

I don't know.

But you did call yourself one before.

A god...

What is a god?

You think I'd know that?

I see...

It's just...

I used to think that gods were these mighty,

omniscient beings, with ridiculous powers.

But now that I've actually met them,

they seem more childish than anyone,

more aggressive and pure...

Sometimes, I think

they might even be

more human than humans themselves.

So much I'd consider some as friends.

Godou Kusanagi!

Found you!

Athena, where are you?

Oh?

So the god-slayer was still around?

Unfortunately for you, I'm quite resilient.

Godou Kusanagi...

You stay there.

But...

Don't worry about me.

You've seem to have forgotten,

so I'll just tell you.

I am a god-slayer.

I'll just put this out there.

I am a pacifist.

If you release the world from darkness,

and go back inside Athena,

I won't do a thing.

Go back?

Athena will be the one to go back.

Because her life is mine.

You're her mother, but you don't own her.

In that case,

I choose to save my friend.

Friend?

Without her power, Athena is your friend?

Yes.

I fought her once before.

She is my friend.

Godou Kusanagi...

That's fine, then.

I'll take her by force.

Godou...

Get out of here...

Die!

Was that all?

The Camel won't work, either?

Godou Kusanagi!

A-Athena...

Hurry and use this chance.

Damn you.

Athena...

Immortal Sun, lend me a quick, shining steed!

A steed?

Quick and ethereal Horse,

your master demands your immediate presence!

Athena, dodge!

Did we do it?

This is all over.

Athena!

Athena...

Not yet...

I'm not done yet!

You're not done?

What else can you do?

I've already

regained...

...my true form!

Not yet.

No matter what anyone foretells...

No matter what type of god you are....

I will not give up!

Neither will I.

What?

Please close your eyes.

You should be fine now.

Mariya...

Now that this is the situation, we'll just have to defeat Metis.

I know.

Me?

Defeat me?

Now that I've regained my original form,

you think you can defeat me?

Before you laugh,

you might want to have a look here.

Take care of her, King.

What is this?

The master of that sword, Susano, is the god of storms.

Even if you can swallow Steel through the Snake's power,

you cannot steal his ferocious wind.

How dare you...

Erica... Liliana...

We'll need to restructure the sword like we did before.

My King, Liliana Kranjcar renews her oath.

The one who slew Metis, Athena's mother,

was the sky father, Zeus,

for fear of a prophecy.

It said that should Metis give birth to a boy,

the son would become a god to surpass the father.

Zeus was fearful,

and he swallowed his pregnant wife, head-first.

Later born of Zeus's body,

Athena was a daughter, identical to Metis.

She endured as her father's loyal daughter,

as the goddess of wisdom and warfare,

forgetting even that her mother had been killed!

Enough... Stop this!

Stop these accursed Words of Power!

Your hatred and desire for vengeance stem

from betrayal by your husband and his selfishness.

That is why you swallowed the heavens that Zeus rules,

trapping the earth in darkness.

And that is what truly lies behind this Starless Night!

It seems you no longer require external knowledge of gods.

What I offer you now is my pure love.

So go forth, my Campione.

Godou, now!

Got it.

Everyone, lend me your strength!

Godou...

Godou Kusanagi...

King...

That which protects the righteous, I summon you...

That which holds up the heavens and spreads throughout the earth...

Show me the proper path, for I am noble!

Shatter her back, pull out her bones, her hair, her brains.

Punish her for breaking the contract!

What tenacity.

The Boar...

Athena!

This is bad! I won't make it!

Godou... Godou Kusanagi.

Athena...

You took longer than anticipated.

This is...

Given what made you this way, I do sympathize...

But I'm sorry.

You must return to your proper place now.

We need this world.

Vanish... Vanish!

Vanish and be gone!

Do not forget, Athena.

You are the darkness...

Queen of the world of darkness.

You sure took your time, Godou Kusanagi.

What are you talking about?

Well, it's fine.

I had a lot of fun.

Let us meet again, my god-slayer.

Did she deliberately let Metis absorb her?

She is the goddess of wisdom, after all.

Godou Kusanagi!

Godou!

Is he okay?

Godou...

He's fine.

Of course he is.

He's a King.

I never would have expected him to receive a god's blessing.

That's my Godou for you.

It wasn't me...

I didn't do anything.

What's this?

Erica Blandelli's rightful place is nowhere but by your side.

I'm here because Godou needs to straighten up.

It is a knight's job to escort the King.

Give me some rice.

No, seriously...

Godou...

King, please eat more.

Erica, you're clinging to him too much.

I've had enough of this!

Godou Kusanagi is the Campione!

"Campione" is the title given to those who succeed in killing a god.

He is the King of Kings.

He is a demon that cannot be controlled by anyone.

This is the unending story of a young man, who has become a Campione,

and the women who surround him,

along with the still unseen gods and demon kings

that exist throughout the world.

CAMPIONE!

A paradise with flowers to pick

All caught up in the wind

A shadow passes through the light

Our simple days change in a flash

The etude has begun and the wings begin to unfold

Where do you want to fight?

Are you going to run away because you're scared?

Which is it? What are you going to do?

You'll ask yourself and decide

Love is a song that won't quit

Love is a door that guides you

Someday you'll overcome

The gods that give you trials and test you

We'll become stronger, raise each other

Move the person who kisses you with emotion

And awaken

With the nameless overflowing power that you have

The era of the rose, fit for a new age

Will become legend
