Before we do, may I have the Temi Bio files?

[Episode 18]

Let me verify your claims on my own.

I need to know whether I was misled by Temi Bio's Publicity campaign.

Look, Temi Bio belongs to the past.

Don't bother wasting your energy on old files like those.

Maybe it's not the past. It could be history.

Temi Bio is where our bio division began.

Shouldn't I find out for sure?

What's with her fixation on Temi Bio?

The lab results are in.

Chloe.

She's not really Baek Jin Ju, right?

Your interest in Adele Group's history flatters me.

Truly,

the Temi Bio files aren't something I can share.

Every last one was destroyed on my orders.

Totally worthless, all of them.

Understood, Chairman Park.

Well, then why don't we call it a day?

About the interview...

All right, everyone, we are done for today.

We appreciate your time, Sir. You are a busy man.

Come on, Chloe. Everybody, let's pack it up.

Let's finish here.

Wait!

The bio division of Adele Group

was not born from Temi Bio.

Make sure that's something

none of you forget.

Noted.

Consider it remembered.

My approval came with one condition:

You would handle this discreetly,

yet you stormed his office unannounced.

Totally unacceptable behavior.

Here in Korea...

is the chairman's office at Adele that sacred?

Overseas, meeting with CEOs was routine for me

and dropping by their offices was never an issue.

We are not overseas.

At Adele Group, we do things our own way.

Okay.

Frustrating as it is, I will adapt.

One more thing I need to clarify:

what draws you to Temi Bio?

Is your connection to Temi Bio personal?

Does interest in Temi Bio

break the rules here at Adele?

Both you and the chairman get so guarded

the second Temi Bio comes up.

As the chairman noted,

the merge was a failure,

which makes it a sensitive topic for everyone.

Going forward, keep that in mind.

So many landmines to navigate at Adele...

Let me get going.

Still... is that how you see it, too?

Can you honestly say Temi Bio

had zero value?

Absolutely.

None of its technology has been put to use so far.

I hope that together, we can finally leverage

Temi Bio's technology

and shift how the chairman

and others view it.

Working here used to be dull but cozy.

Now? Pure adrenaline, nonstop.

We are watching a blockbuster unfold, right?

Sir,

was Chloe always this intense,

leading that crew right into the chairman's office?

That's my style,

exactly the kind of thrill I've craved.

Direct, fearless, no hesitation.

My Chloe is always wired that way,

gutsy, unafraid, and no sugarcoating.

Her success came from tackling problems head-on.

People love to call her a born genius.

Truthfully, she earned it by sheer hard work.

She is brilliant and relentless about her goals.

I knew it.

She is absolutely my type.

How about we go grab something to eat?

I'm sorry, worst timing ever.

What?

What happened?

Honestly, my mom's moves make no sense to me!

Let me go find out what she is after.

Forgive me for bailing on you.

Next time, I'll do everything to make up for it.

See you.

Until next time then.

May I say one thing?

No.

Go ahead and say two things, not one.

Okay.

Hear me out as Chloe's agent, not her dad.

You have probably noticed by now,

that Adele Group's chairman isn't easygoing.

Do what you can to keep Chloe on his good side.

Does she really have you that concerned?

Everyone benefits from this.

With that, I should go.

Without what occurred, those two would be perfect.

[Humangen Diagnostic Center]

Join forces

to unlock Temi Bio's full potential;

could that actually bring me revenge?

I figured you would be gone by now.

Choi Yu Na...

grabbed...

the DNA results.

[Humangen Diagnostic Center]

[Chairman Park Tae Ho]

Chloe's agent, James,

said he is her father so I had a DNA test done

with a rush put on the results.

[Test Results]

[James Lee's paternity of Chloe Lee has been confirmed.]

James is Chloe's biological father,

which rules out any chance that she is Baek Jin Ju.

Choi Yu Na must have gotten the results.

After grabbing them,

she likely ran straight to Chairman Park Tae Ho.

Exactly... what we predicted.

Everything is falling right into place.

Our samples came

from a real father-daughter pair at work who are doppelgängers,

and the test was guaranteed

to come back positive.

My true identity is safe now.

Exactly.

[Humangen Diagnostic Center]

[Chairman Park Tae Ho]

Thinking she could be Baek Jin Ju was absurd,

given that the woman should be dead.

Even without proof, it was clear.

Sure, there is a slight resemblance,

yet the ways they act and talk

are nothing alike.

So they are two totally separate people?

Before we do,

may I have the Temi Bio files?

Temi Bio is where our bio division began.

Shouldn't I find out for sure?

Even hard evidence isn't enough for you?

Proof doesn't get any more solid than this.

Evidence aside, watch her closely.

The second she does anything off, tell me.

Of course.

Chloe won't leave my radar

while you work on fast-tracking my wedding.

Always circling back to this wedding,

is nothing else driving you?

My next move depends on getting married first.

Aigoo.

[Adele: ₩251,000 ($170)]

What?

What is going on?

Why the big grin?

You look like a lottery winner.

I basically did win the lottery.

Word is Adele Group hired some big shot from abroad,

and the stock has been maxing out daily!

Forget the stock when I'm about to lose my mind.

Over what?

Money is the only thing on your mind.

Aigoo...

Can't believe I swore to marry you.

Ever since that witch from Adele yanked out my hair,

my mouth has to stay shut

because their stock has risen tremendously!

Oh, relax. It wasn't that terrible.

Just let it go!

"Let it go"? Don't count on it!

Just wait until the wedding.

That vermin will get what is coming to her.

Watch me.

Babe, get over here.

Forget it!

Kim Myeong Hui is about to become president,

yet nobody has a plan to block her?

Chloe was her hire,

and shares keep climbing nonstop,

plus the bio division rebrand is going smoothly.

We have nothing to use against her.

Then make something up.

If Chloe causes trouble, get rid of her.

Isn't that why I pay all of you?

Man, what a temper she has.

But honestly,

maybe...

her fire is part of the appeal.

Mr. Song.

Sh-She drives me insane.

What happened with Mom? Why did she...

cut off all my credit cards?

What's this all about?

Head on in. You will see it's all fine.

What?

Clearly,

they are devising a plan in there.

Well...

Mr. Song,

honestly, you have let me down.

Let you down?

Mom doing this is one thing, but you, too...

Do I betray you?

Never in a million years.

Oh, but you did.

Then explain why I am standing here.

Dinner is spoiled; my plans are ruined,

and my whole evening is gone.

Wait, no dinner?

For real? How did you...

Just go.

Don't worry about it. And what about Mom?

Let me handle the fallout for you.

You deserve at least that much from me.

Okay, I'll go.

Good. And hey, go eat something.

Mr. Song!

Where is Hyun Jun?

Some business magazine interview?

Playing president before the title is even yours?

Over my dead body, not on my watch.

What did you do again?

So curious? Go ask the chairman yourself.

Is my appointment as president delayed?

Concerns were raised by the board.

People are skeptical

about whether a jewelry background is enough

to lead the bio division.

Which is exactly why Chloe was brought on.

Bringing her aboard was supposed to seal my promotion!

Breaking my word isn't the plan. Caution is.

Whether Chloe is an asset or a liability remains unclear.

Should she prove herself, the title is yours.

But if she is a disaster,

everything will shift.

Trust me. Chloe is going to deliver.

Her expertise and track record...

Spare me the accolades.

She will be tested on my terms.

"Tested"?

Here.

[Bio Division, New Symbol Evaluation Plan]

You know about next week's new symbol evaluation, right?

Of course.

Options A and B were developed in-house,

with shareholders picking through a blind vote.

For Option C,

let Chloe bring her own design to the table.

A single week barely gives her any time.

Should she succeed under these tough conditions,

her talent will speak for itself.

Plus, the presidency will be yours for recruiting her,

no matter what the board thinks.

Should Director Kim Myeong Hui get the presidency,

would that serve our plan?

Has that been weighing on you?

Knowing why Chairman Park targeted Temi Bio

and what he was after

meant swallowing the humiliation

of watching my father's name get destroyed.

Ultimately,

my father died at his hands, only for

Adele Group to thrive.

Once Choi Yu Na becomes an obstacle to that success,

he will dispose of her too.

Director Kim Myeong Hui can't be allowed to take over.

Our goal is to tear Adele Group apart,

and she would only defend it.

But she is the only one who recognizes Temi Bio's worth.

With Director Kim in control,

shining a light on the tech my dad created,

couldn't his legacy somehow be redeemed?

Part of me wants that.

When temptation strikes, stay sharp.

What someone truly feels is never fully visible.

Maybe Director Kim isn't who we believe her to be.

Helpful or harmful, keep your eyes on her

without getting too close.

Not too close...

Near enough to leverage her when she is useful,

yet ready to cut her loose the moment she is not.

Am I reading you right?

Chloe isn't Baek Jin Ju.

[DNA Parentage Test Report]

[James Lee's paternity of Chloe Lee has been confirmed.]

Wait.

You actually did a DNA test?

To check if James is really Chloe's dad?

The point was to make sure she wasn't Baek Jin Ju.

Quit being absurd.

Nobody comes back from the dead.

Quit chasing ghosts and get a grip!

Our wedding should be your priority.

Whether or not Chloe is Jin Ju,

going ahead with this wedding

won't change a thing between us.

Park Min Jun!

Then it's official.

Chloe is just Chloe after all.

Chasing a ghost?

That is not what this is.

All I wanted was for you to return,

no matter what form it took,

believing that was all I had.

No matter how unlikely, it was always going to end this way.

Today,

my lie was flawless.

Wearing those shoes you gave me,

a more convincing version of Chloe

came alive.

At this point,

Baek Jin Ju must be the furthest thing from your mind.

But for me,

is becoming Chloe something that brings me joy

or sorrow?

[Request for Proposal and Statement of Work]

Wasn't next week's symbol review already settled?

Chairman Park wants you to design and submit a symbol.

A design from scratch with just one week to go?

He hopes I will quit, fail, or get embarrassed.

Clearly the chairman isn't thrilled I'm here.

Consider it a trial run.

So he wants to test what I can do?

My judgment in hiring you is what's on trial.

What happens if I say no?

The bio division leader will not be me,

along with any shot at using Temi Bio's tech.

Asking so much isn't fair,

but please, don't walk away.

Back in my jewelry days,

they tested me nonstop and made me earn every inch,

which is how my reputation and position at Adele were built.

But this time, I can't do it solo.

Without you, proving myself becomes impossible.

[Bio Division, New Symbol Evaluation Plan]

None of this is helpful.

Show me every file on the rebrand first.

Does that mean...

Evaluations, tests, proving my worth,

basically, they are picking a fight.

Walking away from a fight like this? Never.

And losing? That hasn't happened yet.

Let me pull those files for you immediately.

[Kim Myeong Hui]

Here you go.

Wouldn't this one work better?

How about checking this one out?

Well, this is kind of...

Director Kim gets this one, and that one is yours.

And no swapping them around.

Calm down. I won't.

All that work killed her appetite fully,

yet she will eat what only you make.

Given the chance, my lunch would go to her, too.

Hello.

Is all that food for someone special?

No clue.

Thoughtfulness isn't really his thing.

[Consultant, Chloe Lee]

Now I see why you get all the hype.

Even the person beside you gets excited.

With my pride at stake, nerves are expected.

Right.

Work pressure, nerves,

not exactly the excitement I meant, but...

Whatever you need from me, name it.

Nobody comes back from the dead.

Quit chasing ghosts and get a grip!

Never mind.

Today is the day for the symbol vote, right?

That's right.

All the preparations are in order, right?

Why bother preparing when the result is a foregone conclusion?

Let the evaluation speak for itself.

No mercy for that witch, understood?

My sentiments exactly.

Fairness based on today's result is all I ask.

[Consultant, Chloe Lee]

Keep your expectations low.

Getting your hopes up

makes the disappointment worse.

Let's find out, shall we?

Soon we will know who ends up disappointed.

Ms. Choi!
