and he's now coming forward
to say I saw something.

I experienced something.

I witnessed something
that was remarkable.

It'd be really interesting
if he corroborates

some of the pilot's testimony.

Kevin Day is the
very first person

who noticed these anomalous
things in the sky.

The further away we
got from the city

and the more remote it became,

the more I realized
that this is a person

who decided to get away,

and get away for a long time.

are on their way to interview

a third military eye witness

to an alleged mass UFO sighting,

a Navy veteran who
says he has critical

new information about the event.

school with the pilots,

getting into the fight and
back without getting shot down.

Kevin Day
was the Chief Radar

Specialist on the USS Princeton.

Kevin Day was a senior
enlisted guy in the Navy,

and you do not get
the rank he got to

unless you're very, very good.

The intent of this interview
is to get your perspectives.

Of course, we don't wanna do it

at the sacrifice of
national security,

so I won't ask you
anything classified.

I won't ask you to
provide any information

that's classified or sensitive.

So from beginning to
end, tell me your story.

I guess this is the
best way to jump in.

We were off the
coast of San Diego,

Nimitz Strike Group getting
ready to go on deployment.

The
Princeton was part

of the USS Nimitz
Carrier Strike Group

on a training mission
Southwest of San Diego

when Kevin Day
dispatched two pilots

to intercept an unidentified
craft he picked up on radar.

It didn't fly
like an aircraft.

It was about 40 feet long.

It's white.

It has no wings.

It has no rotors.

It has no control surfaces.

It's literally, think
of a white Tic Tac.

This image of
the Tic Tac shaped object

was captured by an F-18's
weapons systems camera.

It was so unnerving because
it was so unpredictable.

But the story
began four days earlier

when Kevin Day says he started

seeing strange
tracks on his radar.

Right around the evening
of the 10th of November,

all these contacts were
popping up in my radar coverage

right off Catalina
Island up by Los Angeles.

At first there was
like 10 or 12 objects.

Watching them on
display was like

watching the snow
fall in the sky.

Day says
the ship's system

tracked the
unidentified objects,

dropping down from
the upper atmosphere

and then flying south in what

appeared to be an
organized formation

at an altitude of 28,000 feet.

Their relative position
didn't change from each other.

It went real slow,
28,000 feet at 100 knots,

which is extremely weird.

Usually things that high
don't travel that slowly,

'cause they'll fall
out of the sky.

Do me a favor.

On this piece of paper, pretend
this is the screen, okay?

Sure.
Tell me what you're seeing.

So you got the carrier,
you got the Princeton,

the Chaffee and the Higgins.

And up here by Catalina Island,

I see these objects like this,

look kinda just like that,

and they're all going 100
knots, tracking to the south.

If you added 'em all up,

there was well
over 100 contacts.

According
to Kevin Day,

an entire fleet of UFOs
was flying unimpeded

through the Navy's exercise
warning area off the west coast.

The Princeton was equipped
with the military's

most sophisticated radar system.

Known as the Aegis
SPY-1, it provides a 3D,

360-degree view of the
entire battle space.

The USS Princeton,
if you will,

is the eyes and the ears
for the battle group.

The SPY-1
can simultaneously

track hundreds of air contacts

and can identify virtually
anything that flies.

It eliminated the fact
they could have been

friendly aircraft of some kind,

or enemy aircraft of some kind.

Nothing really fit.

There's no recognized
signature

that you're picking up?
Nope.

It's becoming evident that
these things are really...

UFOs. They are unidentified
flying objects.

I didn't have a
better word for it.

Right.

I was just
chompin' at the bit.

I just wanted to
intercept these things.

So Captain JL Smith
comes down into combat

and I said sir, I think we
should intercept these things.

I reached out and I
hooked one of them

on the large-screen
display, but all of a sudden

this object drops 28,000 feet,

down to the surface
of the ocean,

and I figured it out later.

It was at .78 seconds.

If Kevin Day's
calculations are correct,

the object he saw
would have been moving

at the astounding speed
of 24,000 miles per hour,

over 30 times the
speed of sound.

Aye-aye can't go
overhead Mother Eagle seven.

So the captain said
yeah, let's intercept one,

and I was like hell yeah.

After tracking
the strange objects for days,

on November 14th, 2004

the Princeton's radar group
finally took control.

We grab one
of the flights

that was doin' a check
flight on the carrier.

It just happened to be
Commander Fravor's flight.

The Princeton control
comes up and says,

"Hey, Fast Eagle 110,
this is Poisoned."

"We're gonna suspend training."

"We have real-world tasking."

Commander David
Fravor and his wingman pilot

had been on a training run

when they're receive the
order to intercept.

They got into an area,
what we call merged plot,

where the pilot is
in the visual arena

with whatever
they're intercepting.

It was so
unpredictable.

High G, rapid velocity,
rapid acceleration,

so you're wondering how
can I possible fight this?

And all of a sudden
over the radio we hear,

"Oh my god, oh my god!

"I'm engaged, I'm engaged!"

I'm thinking
I'm gonna be watching

a disaster here.

Day says he watched

as the Tic Tac escaped
the fighter jets,

climbing with an extraordinary
burst of acceleration.

Right back up to
28,000 feet.

Day says
the dramatic encounter

was just the beginning.

At that point, forget
about your other aircraft.

They're launching off a carrier, and all
these other intercepts are happening.

One of
the jets was able

to capture this video that would

go on to make headlines
around the world.

Before I knew it,
I had these objects

raining out of the sky.

It was raining UFOs.

This former Navy radar specialist

Claims he watched
an entire fleet of Tic Tac UFOs

evade Navy F-18's

Not only do you have,

the pilots seen this Tic Tac

but you have another eye witness

that is 20 miles away in another ship

You have to ask yourself,

Are the radars being
spooked or cameras faulty?

Every time this things
get in the visual arena,

They fall out of the sky.

Wait tall, the interceptor had
left, and they'd pop right back up to

28000 feet, right back where they were,
and continue going 100 nots.

It was as if,

they want to be left alone.

Later on shore,

Kevin Day says he spoke
with Commander David Fravor,

a pilot who went head-to-head
with the Tic Tac.

I was asking him
what the hell, man?

What happened?

He said "Mako I gotta tell ya,

that thing kicked my ass."

And that kinda spurred me.

I said okay, that's enough.

I'm gonna write an
after action report.

I gotta document this.

But when Day says

he tried to document
what happened,

he searched the ship's
computers for the radar data

and communication recordings.

Well, strangely enough
all the comms were gone.

All of our external
communications

for that whole
intercept were gone,

which is supposed
to be impossible.

So either someone took the
old disk and replaced it

or somehow it was
actually erased.

But the time code is there.
Yeah.

But the recordings are not.
Right.

So I'm trying to understand.
Burned out.

Yeah, that's really...
Wow.

I don't have a good answer.

I don't know.

Day claims
the files were gone,

but he was able to write

down a critical
piece of information.

These things were
going somewhere.

They fell off my radar envelope

down off the coast
of Baja, California.

Okay.

There's a little
group of islands

down off the coast and right
there they disappeared.

Several hundred miles.

They are all going
to that same lat and long?

They all went
to the same spot.

I can tell you the lat and long.

The
geographic coordinates

where Day says the
Tic Tacs disappeared

off his radar lead here,

180 miles south of San
Diego, off the Mexican coast.

Kevin Day adds a
layer of expertise

that we didn't have before.

With those electronic eyes,
Kevin Day can see things

that the naked eye cannot,

and he adds an entirely new
dimension to this investigation.

Did the captain seem
concerned or agitated or...

What was his reaction?

He, I can only guess
that he was thinking,

but he was, didn't seem
concerned at all.

I think he was trying to resist

the idea that they were UFOs.

Mmm-hmm.

Why?Let me ask you, why
does anybody in the Navy, ah

want to resist the idea of UFOs?

'Cause they don't
wanna get scoffed at.

They don't wanna
get made fun of,

especially for a guy trying
to make admiral, you know?

Sure.

There's a lot of emotion

and there's a lot of
feelings behind this issue.

There's a lot of stigma.

But it was this guy, Kevin Day,

who had the courage
to come forward

and say "boss, I don't
know what these are."

"Let's figure this out."

You know, I was
looking around, I was like:

All the years, all the money,

and all the expertise,
and all the talent,

everyone around me
in this strike group,

and there's nothing we can do.

If these things are
hostile, then we're screwed.

I'm telling you, it was the most
humbling experience of my life.

This is a guy
who's been long retired,

and you just look at him.

And he still, I mean, he
still has the Navy haircut.

He still presses his shirts.

I mean man, the guy's
still in the Navy, man.

He's still serving his country.

Out of all the things
I've heard about the Nimitz

I have not heard there
are up to a hundred craft.

That absolutely blew my mind.

A Top Gun graduate using the
most advanced technology

...It doesn't get better...
on Earth.

It doesn't get better.

And he's the one that
called for the intercept.

Yeah, and you
know what else too?

He's got the lat
longs he provided us

on where these
things may have went.

We don't know if they've
kind just fell off the radar

or if there's something there,

but either way we
gotta check it out.

Back in
Southern California,

Elizondo is updating the team

on his extraordinary
interview with Kevin Day.

Tom and I went to
go visit an individual

who was in the radar room at the time

of the Tic Tac event.

He was the senior
most individual

responsible for that radar.

So here's the bottom line.

It wasn't an event.

It was events,

and it occurred

over a longer period of
time than we thought.

The other thing that
was really interesting

is he says there's
data somewhere,

at some other server, and

he goes, "Find that data."

Former
Deputy Assistant Secretary

of Defense for
Intelligence, Chris Mellon,

has tried to track
down the records

from the Nimitz
fleet for that week.

One of the
frustrating,

but very intriguing
things about this

is that when
I suggested to someone

on the Hill that they try
to obtain the deck logs

for the Princeton
for that date,

the National Archive
said Princeton logs

for that date are missing.

Those deck logs should be there,

and we know officially
now that they're not.

And it's not due
to classification.

But...

Unfortunate, because if
they had been there

that might be another way

to corroborate some
of these reporters.

What I would like
to do in this case is

be able to corroborate this

with another witness from
Right, absolutely.

the radar room.
Yeah.

I think it would be
much to our advantage

to find a second source.

With the deck
logs allegedly missing,

Kevin Day's testimony
may hold a key

to unlocking a larger mystery,

one Elizondo was
unable to answer

when he was at

the Pentagon.

Why were these strange
craft appearing

just off the west coast,

and where exactly
were they heading?

It takes week, but
Elizondo was able

to find another witness
from USS Princeton,

a radar technician who
served with Kevin Day.

There was nothing usual about this, man.

I mean, there was nothing
normal about the whole situation.

Wow.

Let me ask you something.

Would you be available
to talk to you in person?

Yeah.

We tracked it going from
30,000 feet down to sea level,

like within no time at all.

Sonar said they got a hit.

My hope is that
we'll make a serious,

credible effort to
acquire and analyze data

which could tell us
whether this UFO issue

actually does involve
some other civilization,

or reveals a breakthrough
on the part of adversaries,

or even potentially an ally.

It's just sort of
inexcusable to me

that we don't make
the small amount

of effort required to answer
such a profound question.

Navy eyewitness

UFO encounter.

And so Chris Mellon,
being a former

very senior person in the
Department of Defense,

I knew he would have some
really good perspectives.

Voorhis was a technician

onboard the Nimitz's radar
ship, the USS Princeton.

He's never spoken
publicly about the strange

events of November 2004,

and what he has to
say might provide

a missing piece of
critical information.

Well,
Gary, thanks again

so much for taking the time.

Yeah, without a doubt,
it's definitely...

There is something going on.

What was the first indication

something unusual was occurring?

The first indication
that I heard.

Voorhis'
story begins four days

before the pilots
intercepted the UFO.

The SPY guys came out and
was like oh, we got clutter.

The SPY guys in
terms of the radar systems?

Yeah, the guys that
specifically work

on just the SPY-1 Bravo Radar,

they came down and asked me

to reset all the
computer systems.

The
Princeton had already

picked up three strange objects

their Aegis SPY-1 Radar
couldn't identify.

Thinking that the system
was malfunctioning,

the technicians
rebooted the computers.

Brought it all back up

and lo and behold,

they're there still.

And then we started
getting confirmation

from the other ships
that they were seeing it.

What were you
seeing at that point?

We were just
seeing three tracks.

Three tracks.

Were they hovering?

Sometimes they were only
going a couple hundred knots.

Sometimes they
seemed stationary.

Sometimes they moved
relatively fast.

The way that they
kind went around us,

it was almost like they
were just monitoring us.

Senior Radar
Specialist Kevin Day

says he watched as many as
100 of the mysterious craft

fly through the Navy's airspace

with impunity over
the coming days.

It was raining UFOs.

Finally,
on the fourth day,

he scrambled two F-18s
to intercept one of them.

And when one of the pilots
arrived on the scene,

she says she spotted a single
UFO hovering over the water.

There was
something in the water.

There was a churning.

We were all clamoring
to get on the radio.

What the fuck, is that?

We tracked it going from
30,000 feet down to sea level,

like within no time at all.

And the sonar said
they got a hit.

Voorhis claims
the ship's sonar operators

had seen something
else extraordinary.

The object plunged
into the ocean

and it accelerated to a speed

twice as fast as the Navy's
fastest attack submarine.

According to one
of the sonar guys,

they were going 70-plus
knots under the water.

The USS Louisville,

a 6,000-ton
nuclear-powered submarine,

was patrolling just
below the surface.

Voorhis says he spoke
with the sub sonar team

to try to understand
what was happening.

You heard firsthand
from the sonar technicians

that they got a hit?
Yeah.

Do you have names
of those individuals.

None of them want to talk about it. You've
reached out to them? They don't want--

Pretty much, you got who
will say anything.

Okay.

And it was only one sonar
guy I could get ahold of,

and he doesn't
wanna go on record.

He doesn't want
anything to do with it.

As a matter of
fact, he had asked

me not to contact
him ever again.

Let's talk about how

the tapes are normally handled.

Well, strangely enough,
all the comms were gone.

Day claims the
Princeton's communications

for that week were erased, but
he doesn't know how or why.

Voorhis says something
even stranger happened.

A helicopter arrived.

People got off the helicopter.

They came in and then they

requested all the
data recording.

And right after
that, I was requested

to hand over all the
data recording tapes,

and anything that wasn't
recorded on during the event

I was to erase,

just in case there
was anything on it.

And um, and why was that?

Were you provided
an explanation?

No, no. I wouldn't have
been privy to any explanation.

It was just expected
of me to do it.

How unusual was this request
to destroy, erase this data?

It was completely
unprecedented.

I'd never been asked
to destroy data, ever.

And there was no scuttlebutt

about where these
tapes were going

No.

and for what purpose,
or anything like that?

Basically it was just
understood that they were going.

Gary
Voorhis corroborates

important details of the other

eyewitness's dramatic accounts.

But his story raises an even
more troubling possibility,

that the Navy was
involved in a coverup

of a potential threat
to national security.

It's very curious, rather
conspiratorial almost,

the idea that a
helicopter landed

and he was asked to download
the data and hand it off.

That raises a whole
host of questions

about what's really going
on behind the scenes.

The department of defense did
not respond to repeated requests

for comment on the claims made
by Kevin Day and Gary Voorhis.

I am aware that there
are other incidents

that occurred involving
military assets

in and around this area.

Before the USS Nimitz, and
frankly after the USS Nimitz.

So the question is how
significant were they

and is there an explanation
for what is being

encountered in and
around this area?

Lue Elizondo is on
Santa Catalina Island,

47 miles off the
coast of Los Angeles.

He's come here
searching for answers

to why a fleet of UFOs

allegedly first appeared
off the islands shores.

I'm looking
on the radar

and up here by Catalina Island

I see these objects like this.

They're all tracking
to the south.

Navy Radar
Specialist Kevin Day

told Elizondo a
mysterious fleet of UFOs

was first tracked over
in the Catalina Channel,

and then flew south through
the Navy's training area.

I had these objects raining

out of the sky.

Why is there an interest here

in and around these waters?

Catalina Island, apparently
it is attracting these UAPs

for whatever reason
we don't know yet.

Parts of Catalina
are off limits to the public,

so Elizondo has met
up with Hillary Holt

who works for the
island's Conservancy.

So this area, called the
Continental Borderland,

is kind of this hodgepodge

of continental crust
and oceanic crust.

Everything to the west is on
the Pacific tectonic plate.

Don't think I could
ever get tired of that view.

Catalina was
formed millions of years ago

when two giant plates
of the Earth's crust

collided violently.

That geology helped shape the

three thousand foot deep channel

that isolates Catalina
from the main land.

This is an actual geology map.

That pink backbone right
there, is the tallest

backbone on the island.

Interesting, okay
and so wildlife.

I know it sounds like a
crazy question to ask but,

are there any large
indigenous birds?

Condors anything like
that you in South America,

around here?

I mean, my point being
Yeah.

Is it normal to see
a flock of 50 birds

heading down South.

I don't know if I
see flocks of 50 birds,

but absolutely tons of
migrants come through here.

And, there is a lot
of history to be told.

Both around Blackjack here,
as well as the airport.

We're already,
gonna be at 2000 feet.

You pick up something on
radar, well you're not

taking off from the ground you're
picking up something from here.

We know that there's these
weird refraction phenomena

that occur with radar
over the, over the water.

Sometimes radar signals bounce,

and you can be picking
something up really really

far away that looks close,
or picking up something

really really
close that looks far away.

Could some of these tracks
that they were picking up

on radar with an image,
actually be local aircraft

taking off from the mountain
top here on Catalina island?

Is it possible?

Yeah it is.

But is it likely? That's
what I'm gonna find out.

And then we are, I
believe, if you all wanted

to head down to Little Harbor.

Which it's Little Harbor
was where we have the

oldest archeological
evidence on the island.

And then we want
to head out here

to the Ben Weston overlook.

Which we, there are some old

army signal corps installations.

I would love to see that.
Yeah.

Orient me here for a second.

I'm looking here and I feel like

I'm almost surrounded
by mountains.

So LAX is over here.

Exactly.

LAX is pretty close.

You got a populated
metropolitan area right there.

Back in 2004, US Nimitz
Carrier Battle Group

was right out there.

Lights are being
picked up in the sky

on radar and
visually over there,

most of the time at 30,000
feet coming in over the water.

Sometimes you're
literally going from that

side of the sky to
that side of the sky

in seconds.

Historically, there have been
several events right here.

From a national
security perspective,

our job is to own
the battle space.

If we don't know
what's in the sky

and we don't know what's
going on in the water,

then that's a problem.

And there's things that
are right around here

and we don't know what they are.

We have an obligation
to try to figure it out.

Catalina
has a secretive history

that dates back to World War II

when the military built a
network of fortifications

to protect against an
invasion of the mainland.

There's absolutely
different places

across the island where
you can find evidence

of past military operations.

And during World
War II, Toyon Bay

was a training
center for the OSS,

the precursor to the CIA.

You can go down the
road and there are old

radio towers and radio bunkers.

Being down here um, is,
it just reinforces to me

the idea that Catalina Island
is a strategic location

and is a point of interest.

When I was talking with
people about doing this show,

even just in the last week,

I had a lot of people say "oh,
I've seen something weird.

I've seen something before."

There was something,
or is something,

in this area that may be of
significant strategic interest.

Now is that what's
bringing UAPs?

I don't know.

And unless I look at it for
myself, I'll never know.

For decades,
Catalina has been a hotspot

for reports of unidentified
aerial phenomena.

The most credible sighting
was reported by Kelly Johnson,

the founder of Lockheed Martin's
legendary Skunk Works division

and the mastermind of
the SR-71 Blackbird.

and the mastermind of
the SR-71 Blackbird.

Johnson filed this official report
with the Air Force,

in which he and two test
pilots describe seeing

a large craft flying
north of Catalina.

Kelly was at his
ranch and the other

gentlemen were up
doing flight tests.

So they saw it
from two different

vantage points,
which is interesting.

It wasn't just from a
single vantage point.

Steve Justice
spent 31 years at Skunk Works

as one of its top
aviation designers

and is now a key member
of Lue Elizondo's team.

In light of Elizondo's
Nimitz investigation,

he's taken a fresh look at
his predecessor's account.

The most significant
part of Kelly's memo

is the fact that it
was profound enough

that he felt compelled
to write it down

and send it to the Air Force.

That tells me he considered it

to be really, really important.

The Air
Force concluding Johnson

saw a rare cloud formation.

Justice says that explanation
doesn't make sense.

I've read a number
of analyses online

where they conclude it was
lenticular clouds or something.

There are some clouds
that look that way,

but they don't move that way,

and that's why it
sticks in my head.

So what
explains the reports

of UFOs in this same
area 50 years later?

The answer may lie in
Catalina's strategic location.

180 miles north is
Vendenberg Air Force Base,

home to some of the military's

most advance aerospace programs,

and recently Elon Musk's
private SpaceX rockets.

Due south is the Navy's
Whiskey-291 Warning Area,

where the 2004 Nimitz
encounter took place.

Could the unidentified craft
that appeared near Catalina

be part of a top
secret military test

and were the pilots
unwitting test subjects?

Bryan Bender was one
of the first reporters

to reveal Elizondo's
secret UFO program.

There's this
reasonable hypothesis

that these are advanced
military aircraft

that only a very few number

of government
officials know about,

and they're being tested,
and they're being seen,

and they're being reported,

and that could explain
why the government

sort of doesn't
wanna talk about it,

because they wanna
shield these secret

military aircraft programs.

One of the
pilots who encountered

the Tic Tac-shaped UFO
during the Nimitz event

questioned whether
what she was seeing

was part of an
experimental aircraft test.

When I got back
to the ship,

when I was frustrated that
nobody was taking it seriously,

'cause I was part of AATIP

and, you know, I don't wanna
give the false conclusion

that I'm trying to find an
answer that I already have.

But truth be told, I had
access to a lot of information.

I can tell you,
there are several

antenna arrays here that
are absolutely connected

to some sort of
government activity.

So, the question is did they
play a role in the 2004 events?

his team member, Steve Justice,

one of the most respected
aviation experts in the US.

Got a couple
questions for ya.

As the Director
of Advanced Technologies

at Lockheed Martin Skunk Works,

Justice led the
highly-classified development

of America's F-117
Nighthawk Stealth Fighter.

Elizondo wants to
explore the theory

that what the pilots
from the USS Nimitz

and others witness was in
fact a top-secret government

test that they hadn't
been briefed on.

Steve Justice worked
at Lockheed Martin,

which is entrusted with
billions of taxpayer dollars

to build some of the most advanced
weapon systems in the world.

It's possible in this
case that there is some

very secret military
aircraft program

that is so secret and is
shared with so few people

that Lue Elizondo
doesn't know about it.

So Steve, I can't
completely eliminate

the fact that those
type of velocities

potentially, potentially
are achievable

with certain
technologies we have.

In the
2004 Nimitz incident,

a Tic Tac-shaped UFO had
allegedly reached velocities

as high as 30 times
the speed of sound.

Does this technology
look like anything

you worked on while you're
at Skunk Works,

and could this have been
one of those technologies?

No, I'm not gonna
talk about anything

I did with Skunk Works.

While his work

at Lockheed Martin
is classified,

Justice is aware
of a test flight

that happened the same week
as the Nimitz incident,

when NASA launched a
hypersonic, unmanned craft,

the X-43 Scramjet,
in the same airspace.

Well, the X-43's interesting.

You know, the fact that it flew
in this timeframe

can make it a suspect.

Let's sit back and analyze
it from several perspectives.

Here's a photo from
NASA of the X-43,

hanging on the wing of a B-52.

You can see the work crews.

Well, they said they
saw a 40-foot vehicle.

Whatever this Tic
Tac was was 40 feet,

and that is backed up
by radar and the video.

So the speed itself.

The X-43 was hypersonic,

which means it was
Mach 5 or above.

So here's what it
takes to accelerate.

That's a huge signature, man.

I mean, that's just...

Everybody's gonna see that
thing for a hundred miles.

So that, to me, disqualifies.

That's a disqualifying
element in and of itself.

What altitude?

Well, here's the strange part.

It was seen at a
lot of altitudes,

anywhere between 80,000
feet down to sea level.

Okay.

Hypersonic vehicles
that we work on today

wanna be above 50,000 feet.

As we step back and look
at all the different

pieces of evidence that
we have in this image

that we have from that incident,

you don't see any
exhaust plumes,

and they would show up
in this type of image.

Um, the shape is wrong,
the flight regime,

the point of the sky
that it flies is wrong.

How it flies is wrong.

Now the parts that we have right

are some hypersonic velocities.

Without going into
specific technologies,

you did a lot of work
for the Skunk Works

and I'm just kinda curious.

Does this scenario
fit a common pattern

the way you guys test
your classified programs?

I'm not even gonna talk about

how we test classified stuff.

It's possible but it means
that somebody would know.

Doesn't mean
everybody would know,

but some people would know

that you're gonna be
operating near that area.

So it's, it's possible.

Um, you know if,

if the admiral in charge
didn't make a report,

it could be because

you know it was an
operational test.

Not everybody gets
to know everything.

I would love it
if it turned out

that these were
secret US aircraft

that were developed
in some remote,

underground facility
and that we've achieved

that kind of technological
breakthrough.

That would be fabulous.

Here are the reasons
that we don't

think that is in fact the case.

We do not operate test aircraft

in the vicinity of
carrier battle groups

without some prior coordination.

It would be completely
uncharacteristic

of the military to operate

in such a strange,
haphazard manner.

If that did happen,
it would probably

happen only once.

Those people would be
replaced in a hurry.

It's hard to
conceive

of a secret military test
program

that explains all
of these instances,

not just here in The United
States but around the world.

I would love it if it
turned out to be the case

that these were
secret US aircraft

that were developed in some
remote underground facility,

and that we've
achieved that kind

of technological breakthrough.

That would be fabulous.

Here are the reasons
that we don't think

that is in fact the case.

First of all, the videos

that were released
were declassified,

and went through a formal
declassification process.

If those were secret
US aircraft vehicles,

they wouldn't have survived
that scrub of that review.

Secondly, we do not
operate test aircraft

in the vicinity of carrier
battle groups, as a rule.

Certainly not without
some prior coordination.

The military is
extraordinarily careful

to avoid incidents and mishaps.

So, it would be completely
uncharacteristic

of the military to operate in

such a strange,
haphazard manner.

Thirdly, myself
and my colleagues

have pulled every thread
and run every trap.

I was on the committee that
reviewed all those programs.

There was nothing like that on the
drawing boards when I was in the Pentagon.

Steve worked at the Skunk
Works at Lockheed Martin.

He's not aware of anything
remotely like this.

Lue ran all the traps
in the Pentagon,

checked with the Army, Navy.

Everybody said those are
not ours, definitively.

So while we can't
prove the negative,

the evidence we have suggests
these are not US vehicles.

You've been out on
the road a lot, okay?

And it seems like more
people are coming forward.

Anything change your mind?

No, it's only reinforced
our original position

to be honest with you.

We've come a long way
in just eight months.

A real long way.

We have all the pilots
that flew that day

that were involved
in the alleged

Tic Tac incident
have come forward.

I think that's huge.

Lou
Elizondo, Tom DeLonge,

Chris Mellon, and the team
have made major breakthroughs

in their investigation of
the 2004 Tic Tac event.

We've actually learned
some more information,

believe it or not,
what happened that day,

some very compelling
information.

I am delighted that we
are able to give voice

to these military personnel
and their experiences.

But um, these guys, and
what we're up against,

is overcoming this
incredible stigma

that surrounds this topic.

The
mysterious UFO encounters

over the USS Nimitz
Carrier Strike Group

are finally coming into focus.

The team as corroborated
the accounts

of four military eyewitnesses.

Two fighter pilots
who say they were sent

to hunt down one of the
Tic Tac-shaped UFOs.

We couldn't help but
admit that we saw it,

because we all saw it together.

Do we wanna not do anything
and just hope they're nice?

And
two radar personnel

who say they tracked
an entire fleet

of Tic Tacs over the
course of four days.

We are getting our
assess kicked right here.

According to one
of the sonar guys,

they were going 70-plus
knots under the water.

They pretty much just
went wherever they wanted.

When you look at this
problem holistically,

you start seeing
patterns emerging.

For over 70 years,

the US military
investigated UFO sightings.

In thousands of documents,
the UFOs

are often described
as saucers or discs,

but there are also
reports of shapes

eerily similar to the
40-foot long Tic Tac

the Nimitz pilots encountered.

This 1964 report
describes a flying object

shaped like a butane tank

and as long as a telephone pole.

The more similarities
we can find,

the more congruences
we can identity.

The more congruences
we can identity

I think the more we'll be able

to make an honest determination

of what these things are doing.

It
wasn't until 2009

that Elizondo says the Pentagon

was able to establish
a larger pattern.

In the early
stages of AATIP,

we're collecting anything

and everything related to,
frankly, this phenomenon.

We had reports
coming from the Navy.

We had pilot's reports.

We had gun camera footage.

We had radar returns.

We had investigations that were
done by highly-trained people.

Some of the observations began

to really get into
focus in 2009.

Former
Deputy Assistant

Secretary of Defense for
Intelligence, Chris Mellon,

has obtained a briefing document

created by the Pentagon's
secret UFO unit.

The presentation contains
a global map of hotspots

where US and other military
assets encountered UFOs.

This is an example
of the kind of data

that is available and
hasn't been pulled

because nobody's in charge.

Nobody's analyzing the issues.

The red dots are
reported UFO activity,

blue are military facilities.

This official
Department of Defense map

has never been
released to the public.

Within this large
circle is Baja, San Diego,

and then the Navy's
exercise operating area

where they conduct
fleet exercises.

So here we have a
document that says

The United States is defenseless

against a threat that
we have identified,

an extraordinary
and alarming report.

And here we are 10 years later,

essentially in
the same position.

The Pentagon
unit suggested the US military

would be unable to defend itself

against the UFO's hyper
advanced technology.

Those hotspots were seen

all the way back in 1950.

The fact that we continue
to see these things

in our airspace, over
our military equities

time and time again,
and we still don't know

what it is and where
it's coming from,

at this point just throw the
white flag up and give up.

The
briefing was created

for a presentation to
senior defense officials

and warns if the government
continues to ignore the threat,

America's adversaries
could crack the technology

and develop deadly new weapons

that would disrupt
the balance of power.

This is a live
activity.

We don't know what it is,
even after all this research.

If they are a potential
adversary, like Russia or China,

that's made some huge
leap in technology,

we better know about it.

Given some of these capabilities
that are demonstrated,

they could very easily
shut out the lights.

We know
this is happening now.

We know it's real.

And until we get some answers,
we shouldn't rest easy.

This is
not a Navy problem.

This is not an
Air Force problem.

This is not an intelligence
community problem.

This may be a much bigger,
holistic, global problem.

These guys are
obsessed.

They spent their life
defending the country,

and now they're confronted
with a phenomenon.

That potentially
could be threatening.

Chris and Lou
repeatedly say listen.

I know everybody thinks
of little green men,

but we're not there yet.

What we gotta do
first is not treat it

as this backwater
issue that nobody wants

to touch, nobody
wants to look at.

On the

go to the location

and try to figure out if there's

any type of correlation at all.

This is the part
of the Nimitz story

that not only has
never been told,

has never really been explored.
