Yuchen, the taste level here is beyond bad.

[Law] Veejay, we asked for country chic.

You gave us country shit, and I'm not gonna hold that back.

[Yuchen] I had a bad day.

I tried my best, but I don't wanna go home.

[Veejay] The twins are in the top and I might be going home.

This is my worst nightmare.

[Heidi] At stake for the winner is $200,000

a spread in ELLE magazine and a life-changing mentorship with the CFDA.

This is Project Runway.

Veejay, the look didn't really say country.

From the fabric to the silhouette, you left us all a little confused.

Being in the bottom two is really not a good feeling.

I really hope that the judges will see from my past work

that I deserve to be here.

Yuchen, in this country challenge, this was not the time

for you to experiment. This was the time for you to win.

It sucks to be on the bottom for the second time,

but I don't think I should go home because my design is better than Veejay's.

Yuchen, Veejay, one of you will be in and one of you will be out.

We've been working our asses off this competition,

When fashion is at its best, one feels confident, radiant

and powerful in their own skin.

So for this challenge, designers, you have to prove

you can make everyone feel comfortable and beautiful.

We've got some real people here and not the models.

I don't know what's happening and I'm nervous.

So over the past few decades, the fashion world

has made strides in making everyone feel welcome and fashionable,

from people of varying body types,

gender identities, to even those with fabric allergies.

The muses standing here deal with something millions of people experience

on a regular basis: painful skin conditions like moderate to severe eczema.

And that may make it difficult to find fashionable clothes that work for them.

So for this challenge, sponsored by Lilly,

you will be making a look for women and men who struggle with eczema.

And the design you're making is for a night out on the town,

and it should be comfortable and fashionable,

and it needs to produce a jaw-dropping reveal on the runway.

It's so interesting that we got this challenge

because I actually also have eczema.

-Really? Cool. -Yeah.

You're coming with some inside knowledge then.

[Jesus] Eczema is an immune system disorder.

I actually have eczema too in my hands, you know,

and I know how people can build insecurities when they have eczema.

What do you feel comfortable… Like, with what you wear?

Are you, like, allergic to any fabrics or…

If there's a flare-up, sometimes I'd be more conscious of something

and I would just avoid things that are really scratchy.

-Perfect. -Know what I mean?

Well, I'm gonna line everything in silk so you're comfortable and feel nice.

-Brilliant. Nothing but luxury, please. -Okay, perfect. Yeah.

[Jesus] This is a tough challenge.

We have to make them feel comfortable,

but I also have to make him feel like a fashionista.

I want to make him feel cool.

So I'm thinking like really cool pants, you know?

Like, a jacket and then like a really low V shirt.

[Jarrad] It's, like, a little effeminate for me.

Are you seriously being for real?

But I also want to, like, work with you.

No, we can play--

That wouldn't be my first thought, though. It would be before we pass.

I also wanna take you out of your comfort zone

and I want you to make a piece that you're gonna wear

and be like, "Wow." Like…

It's hard to take me out of my comfort zone.

I know, but that's gonna be my challenge.

We talked about the challenge, but then all of a sudden,

like, we started really getting closer and talking of, like, just life.

-Where do you wanna get married? -Mexico for sure.

[Jarrad] I properly speak Spanish. And I know a lot of Americans say this.

[in Spanish] But I really do speak Spanish.

Oh, my God. You're my husband.

I wanna forget that eczema is a thing, right?

I wanna feel so pretty that my skin is not even a concern.

So, like, show whatever you want 'cause, like, the outfit is that good.

My whole MO with drag queens is creating a gaggy moment,

but I'm feeling a little daunted

because I'm hoping I can bring my big, crazy sensibilities to a real person.

-What would you like to reveal? -Can we show leg?

My favorite color is white.

[Ethan] A white is a really good base that can be revealed into something else.

So I think we have some fun ideas, but I don't know if we have the one.

[Ethan] I don't have my vision quite yet.

I have a hundred different ideas in my head,

you know, I need to decide on the right one,

the right vibe, because I want to make Rachel feel like a boss-ass bitch.

-Tell me more about your eczema. -Eczema is an immune system disorder.

-It can be internally and external. -Mm-hmm.

-It has to do with what you're eating… -Yes.

…but it can also be environmental triggers.

The clothes you're wearing, the fabrics.

Can you tell me your favorite colors?

Um… I love wearing nudes.

Nudes. Any prints? Do you like prints?

No, I just can't do prints.

What are you talking about, girlfriend?

No prints at all? No plaid, no polka dot, no stripe?

Any sequins?

[Jewel] No, honestly, I usually try to keep it simple.

[Belania] You have no sparkly in your life?

-No. Yeah. -Got it.

No prints, no pastels, no sequins.

I'm feeling lots of apprehension and anxiety.

I have to deliver for the challenge, but at the same time,

I have to make my client happy because that's a part of the challenge.

So what can the reveal be if she doesn't like anything sparkly or bright?

So everything Jewel is saying might send me home.

[Antonio] Oh, my God. I'm so excited.

Listen, I've been in the top, but I haven't won yet.

Everybody here has won a challenge.

-I haven't won. -You're gonna win.

I've been this close. I'm like… This is my challenge.

[Antonio] I'm used to working with real clients.

It's definitely an advantage.

I need to learn about Stephanie, her personality, her sense of style,

how her skin condition affects her fashion choices.

Where do you usually get, like, your breakouts?

So I usually get 'em, like, on my wrists.

Um… Like in between right here.

I'm thinking about, like, something beaded with a pattern

and, like, structure with a nice soft lining.

Yeah, I think for me it's just like as long as…

-like you said, the lining is nice. -Soft, yeah.

I'm single right now and I'm going on dates.

I'm thinking we should do an expensive fabric 'cause you…

you're expensive.

And you want an ex… a boyfriend that can afford you.

[laughs] Amen to that.

I'm designing a cocktail beaded dress

with a princess line flare coat with sleeves

with a cape.

I totally trust you. I love your vibe.

So, Jayden, can you tell me more about your skin condition?

It flares up a lot when, like, I'm, like, hot or, like, sweaty.

-Like, my face sometimes flares up. -Oh.

I don't want that skin reaction or skin condition to affect your confidence

because we're going to make this work.

So what's your personal style?

Like quarters just like this, I wear all the time.

Okay. If you are going on a night out,

where do you usually go?

You know, I do like to dance a lot. You know, look for girls.

[Veejay] What's a color that you like to wear?

-Blue, black, or green. -Okay, perfect.

[Veejay] Jayden is a really cool guy, and confidence is a very important power

that someone should have, and eczema sometimes takes away confidence from you.

So, I am designing pants and a jacket

with zipper details and also a quarter zip sweater.

-I trust you. -Yes. We're gonna win.

We're gonna win this.

All right, make sure you pick the right fabrication

to make them feel comfortable, confident, sexy.

And a special reveal.

My girl is getting laid in this dress.

I know I can nail this challenge and win, but fabric choice is very tricky here.

I want it to look expensive,

but I want it to feel really good on my girl Stephanie's skin.

[Christian] That green's pretty.

-[Antonio] I have expensive taste, right? -Hmm.

I need like a sweater-ish material.

I chose a soft wool for the sweater because it's a natural fabric,

and denim because it's 100% cotton, so…

I know that it will not irritate Jayden's skin.

-Does he like a beaded tweed coat? -He's going to.

Oh.

It's, like, a little effeminate for me.

Hmm.

Because Jarrad's style is very simple.

I want to push him and make him look more fashionable and modern.

I find this really amazing tweed that has a little bit of sequin

and it has, like, really amazing texture and I love the color.

I want to make Jarrad happy,

but this is also a design competition and it's the final five.

I have to make sure that I can inject my DNA into this design.

[Belania] Where is the double-faced wool?

-Upstairs. -All right. Please. Okay.

[Belania] I specifically am looking for a double-faced brushed wool

because usually wool fabric fibers are poking your skin

and making you itch, but when it's brushed,

they're going horizontally against your skin and it's softer.

I'm not mad at this. Can you pull this out a little bit so I can see it more?

Jewel does not like prints, but I find a nice plaid print.

Choosing this fabric meets both of our needs.

She can wear it on the plaid or she can wear it on the solid.

[Christian] Twenty minutes.

[Ethan] The reveal part is really important,

so I'm thinking crystal, beauty within.

There is a way you have to use it to make sure

that it doesn't irritate the skin, so I'm considering that.

It's a risk, but it's just so beautiful.

-Here we go. We're back. -We're back.

Jesus, you're not gonna beat me this time.

[Jesus scoffs] Are you sure about that?

I mean, you thought that last week and I beat you, so…

I cannot believe I haven't won yet.

Jesus went to fashion college, but I'm self-taught.

He's always been on top.

He hasn't been in the bottom, but I just have to stay positive,

head up, because I am here to fight.

Hi, guys. Are we nervous?

-Yes. -Yes.

Belania, when you talked to Jewel, did she say she likes shine or plaid?

And you got her silver lamé.

-[Belania] Yeah. Yeah. -That's the reveal fabric?

I feel like it's very important for my reveal to have a wow moment.

So my look is a reveal in a reveal.

It's a trench coat that opens up into a top that turns into a dress.

I am not effing around about the reveal.

I really wanna prove to you that this tweed could go really, like,

modern and grungy cool.

I do have a little bit of inside knowledge

of how certain fabrics can trigger flare-ups, but I'm not too concerned

because I'm planning on lining my coat with silk,

so I know that that's gonna feel really good against Jarrad's skin.

I will say, like, my mom does have a coat just like this.

[Jesus] Like, the whole reveal is gonna be when he takes the coat off.

It's gonna have this beautiful collar.

-Beaded collar. -Beaded collar.

And then he has this beautiful low V. My job, I feel, with this challenge is to…

-Make him feel comfortable. -…make him feel comfortable.

I wanna do three reveals.

I'm trying to be quiet because, you know, people, they stop by,

they try to steal my ideas.

So, I'm doing a cape over this so she can take her hands out and the cape drops.

And then she has this dress.

-And then takes that off. -And then take this off mid runway.

I love it. You should do it.

But you have to really do it and this has to be fabulous too.

Yes, of course.

Oh, Lord, you have so much to do.

I do have a lot of work to do. Oh, my God.

My whole goal for this week is to win.

I'm coming from being on the top twice.

It's so close.

The reveal is a green sweater.

I saw this fabric and I'm like, "Oh, Lord, my uncle's Christmas sweater

that he wore for 30 years."

I think that sweater is giving me nightmares.

I know. Well, I need to make it a little more interesting.

Because it's the reveal.

I can give them a crazy reveal, hundred percent,

but my client is not outrageous.

My client is a young straight dude.

As long as my client likes it, then I'm all good.

What are you doing?

I'm gonna do this little bustier top with all these crystals.

[Christian] We're gonna do this mesh beaded all on her skin? Ugh.

And you picked hospital white.

This feels super mod and, like, not this.

This makes me really nervous. It's like white cape with this bra.

I don't know. I'm like, why can't it reveal into a white mini dress?

Yeah, I might have to do a hard pivot.

-It's tough with the amount of time. -Which is scary. I know.

[Ethan] I'm annoyed.

Changing it now is gonna be so difficult.

Yeah, it's overwhelming.

It's the final five, and I cannot trip up now.

[Jesus] What are you thinking?

[whispers] I think I have to do a hard pivot.

He doesn't like the two together at all.

He thinks the white's too sterile.

I got all the supplies to do the Rorschach.

Take the black, incorporate it, you know what I mean?

[Ethan] I could paint the shit out of this.

Follow your intuition and don't waste time.

I am pivoting to art

and doing a Rorschach design

where it takes the beauty of the patterns of eczema on the skin

and turning it into an ink blot.

You're like my boyfriend.

How do you feel in this?

I like it.

I don't know about the silver,

and I probably wouldn't pair the dress with shorts, so…

But I believe in her.

I want you to love it, babe.

I am nervous about Jewel not being on board

with the silver fabric, so I'm highly concerned about myself.

It's not the colors I thought it was going to be.

It's not like anything else I have in my closet. I can say that.

I'm getting annoyed because he's fighting me on a couple of things

that I have to do on the design,

but I know that it's gonna look great at the end.

but I am not surprised.

I just don't think someone young and cool wants to wear this jacket right now.

Like, I would never buy that jacket or wear it.

I really like the design.

She managed to make it look just as good as I imagined.

She's still sticking true to what I want.

[Christian] Rachel, how are you feeling?

-[Rachel] I'm into the pattern. -Mm-hmm.

[Ethan] This is the lining.

-The lining of what? -The coat.

-[Christian] What? -That's the reveal.

[Christian] This is a graduation gown in white.

[Ethan] I decided to scrap this beautiful crystal fabric,

and now I'm really struggling.

It's really hard for me to keep bending to other people's whims.

It's a delicate balance of adapting my drag sensibilities

while appeasing myself but also my client.

You think I'm being tough? Law will go crazy.

-No. I'm not letting this happen. -Okay, we're not gonna let it happen.

Whatever changes this man is suggesting, that's what we need to do

because I will not get tore up under these bright lights.

[Christian] You love the fabrics, how they feel?

-Yeah. -Originally, she wanted sleeves,

but if we can show the tatas, she's gonna do strapless.

Yeah. You got a wild one to work with.

Wild in a good way, Christian.

[Stephanie] Antonio has this in the bag.

He's so talented and amazing, and I know it's gonna come out beautiful.

We got a medical plan for my eczema,

so I'm ready to show off my skin and get myself a husband.

[Jesus] Belania has been doing so good and she found who she truly is as a designer,

but she's been really struggling in this challenge.

She's in trouble.

I have no idea where she's going with this look.

After my client fitting, I know I have to commit to this asymmetrical blouse

because I have no more time,

but it's not working.

I hate it.

I know I have to figure it out because the clock is ticking

and I'm getting more and more nervous.

Yeah, I'm about to be in the bottom. I feel it.

There are three runways left, but only two before the finale, so the pressure is on.

-What? -Not as, like, masculine as I envisioned.

-So what do you wanna change? -The collar is too extra for me.

Like, what if we, like, didn't have this part in the bottom

and it wasn't, like, totally bedazzled all the way through.

There's not much time and Jarrad has a lot of notes,

but it is a real client's challenge, so I have to make sure he likes the look.

[Veejay] I'm getting nervous.

[Ethan] Veejay's look, it's a beautifully constructed garment, but no reveal?

As you know, in fashion one day you're in, and the next day, you're out.

For this challenge, you were asked to design a look for men and women

who struggle with eczema.

Not only should the outfit be comfortable and fashionable for a night out,

it needed to produce a jaw-dropping reveal on the runway.

So let's meet the judges.

CFDA award-winning stylist and image architect, Law Roach.

One of my favorite designers out there, Harris Reed.

[Jesus] Bravo!

Harris Reid? Oh, my gosh, gag.

Everybody knows him for the iconic look he did for Demi Moore for the Met Gala.

So I'm really excited for him to be our guest judge.

And comedian and my twin, Nikki Glaser.

Oh, my gosh. Thank you.

[Antonio] Nikki Glaser is hot right now. She's killing it in the comedy world.

I'm like, oh, my God, is she gonna **** roast us on stage?

Let's start the show.

[Antonio] Wow. Stephanie feels confident. She's killing it.

I am so happy.

It's like she feels good in it.

[Law] Yeah, she loves it.

Oh, la la!

[Antonio] I'm so proud of my client.

I love her so much.

I know she wants to win as much as I do.

A great little dress.

Her man is at the end of the runway.

[Veejay] Seeing Jayden walk on that runway, I feel so accomplished.

There's a balance of simplicity and intricacy, and he looks expensive.

Law: That leather jacket was really well made.

I don't know if that was quite a reveal though.

You want the drama. Whip that jacket off.

[Veejay] You know, he looks so amazing that it's like I don't need that reveal

because he actually looks like a celebrity walking in that runway.

Where was the reveal?

Isn't that the point of the challenge?

[Belania] Jewel seems to be walking very fiercely.

The jacket looks absolutely amazing on her.

With that being said, this look is a product of me trying to appease my client.

It's not feeling good. It's not looking good.

Is it a dress?

It's two pieces.

[Belania] It would be a total pity if I went home off of this challenge

because this look does not reflect who I am as a designer.

Work.

I'm loving this beautiful coverup and then pow!

-Yes! -All right.

[Ethan] It opens up into this beautiful inkblot motif.

Making my own print was a really strong choice, but I'm so glad I did that.

She was hot!

Harris: I like how confident she feels in that gown.

You don't question that she loves it.

It looks really good.

[Heidi] Hmm.

[Jesus] Yes, Jarrad.

I think Jarrad is feeling very confident on the runway.

He's feeling himself, he's feeling the look, he feels fashionable.

I think the reveal went really well.

I see the appliqués look really shiny on the runway.

I'm happy.

It's a little messy though. That shirt.

It's giving magician.

However, the judges, they look confused.

So now I'm starting to feel nervous.

Maybe I should have listened to Jarrad more.

I could be in trouble.

[Heidi] That was fun.

Designers, I'm so excited to see

how your clients feel about the things that you created for them,

which is the most important thing.

[Ethan] That is the truth.

Okay, we're gonna start with you, Ethan.

-Are you happy? -I love it. I really do.

I think what I wanted most of all was something that was so striking,

that, like, my skin was not in the conversation.

And so like, I'm extremely happy.

[Heidi] Law, what did you think about this look?

I think that you could have done a better job with the placement of her breast.

You know my thing, I wish you'd snatched that waist thin a little bit more.

But I loved that her reveal was an actual reveal

because I thought, I was like, "Oh, she's so demure," you know,

and then she came out, I was like, "Oh, she's a whore," which I love.

You are confident. My only thing is,

I kind of wish the pattern was on the outside of the cape as well.

It would have really brought the whole thing home.

I love the design.

I love that it's an inkblot, the Rorschach.

Like, what I'm getting from it is that my mom is apologizing to me,

finally, you know.

I really liked the design. Veejay did a great job.

She figured out a way for me to still have swag.

I felt like you were really liking yourself in this when you came down.

As a designer, you gave him what he needed.

You clearly have such incredible skill and craftsmanship.

I think that this is a really well-executed piece,

and leather is such a difficult thing to sew.

[Law] The jacket is tailored to perfection.

And then, you know, to have the panels of the leather in the pant

makes everything more elevated. It looks expensive.

[Nikki] I just had "cool" written down a bunch.

You just looked so cool.

But where was the reveal?

It is business on the top and party underneath.

This really confused the shit out of me.

How do you feel about it though?

It's definitely a piece that's different from everything else in my closet.

But would you spend your money on it?

Be honest. It's okay.

I probably wouldn't buy this myself.

So to me, it was a complete mess and you failed her.

It's like, it's Kate Middleton with the coat on,

then you take it off and it's Kate Middleton in 2006

I mean, I love the top, and the shape, and the silver,

and then the back of it I think is really cool.

I would have just liked to see it as a dress.

Yea, I don't mind that because it gives symmetry to the front,

I thought the jacket and the trousers were everything.

The shirt was my only thing that I wish it was maybe a bit more classic.

You looked amazing on the runway, but without the coat, it's pirate magician.

It was giving me Dancing with the Stars,

just because it was bedazzled, on top of bedazzled, on top of bedazzled.

When the coat came off, I was like, "What is this around the neck?"

And then there's more on the back. It just was too much of it all.

It was not my favorite thing today.

but my brother is in the bottom, and I'm shocked.

This is the first time I'm in the bottom this whole season,

and it truly is making me sick to my stomach.

This was a client-based challenge,

and I feel most of them were actually very happy.

I think Ethan's client, Rachel, she really seemed to like it.

I didn't, but I also don't have to wear it.

She came in and snatched it open like Demi Moore in striptease.

But when you have a woman that has a curvier figure,

take care of the bosom, take care of the waist.

It looks like a duvet that was like inside out.

[Harris] The more I sat with it, the more I was like,

she did what a dream client would do, which is sold the piece to me,

but the execution wasn't there.

Ethan's client was the only one who liked it no matter what.
