I'm just saying...

...in the Caribbean they have a rainy season.

In Hawaii, biggest issue we'll have there is...

...mai tai or piña colada?

And it's not just about the weather.

The colors there are just so vivid, they'll make your eyes water.

Seriously, the views are just...

...spectacular.

Listen to you, talking about views and colors.

There are no lines in nature, only areas of color...

...one against another.

Hmm.

- Is that, uh, Tolstoy? - Manet.

I should've known you'd quote a painter.

I have a weakness for the Postimpressionists.

And for you.

- We need to get dressed. - Mm.

The American cultural attaché can't be late for his own state dinner.

Oh, yeah, but the first lady of the country gets some leeway, right?

Yes, well, my husband, he's not one to tolerate tardiness.

Yeah, or religious freedom.

- Or political dissent. - Please don't.

The only thing he treats worse than the people is you.

You know if I could change any of that I would.

What if you could?

Change that?

Jonathan, we really are going to be late.

My name is not Jonathan.

It's Michael.

I'm not a cultural attaché. I'm an American agent.

Assigned to neutralize the threat...

...of Belarusian president Valeri Ovechkin.

I don't understand.

With your help, I can get that done. You know it has to happen.

You've known that for a very long time.

With my help?

So all this...

Us...

It was a setup?

You're blackmailing me?

Cassandra, you're not the target. Your husband is.

After six years of stability, new troubles out of Belarus today...

...as President Valeri Ovechkin declared martial law in his country.

This follows news that his longtime personal assistant...

...has been put to death.

Even now, I have reason to believe there's a traitor hiding...

...in the highest level of our government.

Yes?

The man's out of control. We've gotta get her out.

- Who? - Cassandra. My asset.

- She helped me topple Ovechkin. - Topple?

You just said he was out of control.

No, no, no. Ovechkin's been dead for six years.

That's his double.

Operation Looking Glass. Classic Division op.

Whack Ovechkin, replace him with a physical stand-in you can puppet.

World's quietest coup d'état.

- And Cassandra? - Was the key.

She stayed to sell the con.

I couldn't have pulled it off without her.

I told her she'd be safe.

Prep the jet. I wanna be wheels up in an hour.

Birkhoff, give me everything you know on Cassandra.

Uh-oh.

Ovechkin also killed his personal bodyguard last month.

The assistant and bodyguard were in on the switch.

So he's getting rid of anyone who knows the truth.

But why now?

Hmm.

For the same reason we can't control him anymore.

You made sure he only got his orders through you.

But you're no longer at the other end of the leash, and he won't listen.

He refuses to talk to me.

In all fairness, the guy was getting a bit boisterous even before I left.

He started to believe he was an actual leader.

You could talk to him. Convince him to get back in line.

Now, why in the world would I do that?

To do the right thing for your country.

This is my country now.

In that case, I'm going to have to put your lapdog down.

First step is to make contact.

Do you have any lines of communication to her?

No, not since the op ended.

How did you acquire her as an asset?

Standard raven protocol.

I didn't know you had those kinds of missions.

It was part of the job.

Yeah, I know. You know I know.

Yeah.

I was never as good as you.

I mean, I found that I couldn't...

Leave your feelings out of it?

She was just a mission. Nothing else.

- How many other missions were there? - Nikita.

Michael, you were my handler at Division.

You knew every single time that I had to be...

...Josephine.

One.

Cassandra was the only one.

Jet's ready. Ahem. Bring your own peanuts.

Zetrov knows that I killed their spokesperson.

There'll be increased activity as they hunt for me.

I need someone to analyze the signal traffic. I'd like Sonya.

German assets checked in.

They've confirmed operational support.

- Cover kit and paper in place? - At the prearranged dead drop.

- Alex, I'll assign Sonya to you. - Thank you.

- But I need something in return. - Of course.

The mission profile for Operation Cold Shadow...

...calls for a young, attractive, native Russian speaker.

- No. - The objective is to take down...

...an out-of-control pocket dictator, Valeri Ovechkin.

I said no. I'll make do without Sonya.

I speak Russian.

You've recovered from your last op?

Sore knee, but Medical's cleared me.

Get prepped on Cold Shadow.

I read the ConOps on that mission. They're doing a good thing.

- Good for them. - So it doesn't matter if they're right?

- I don't believe in Division. - What do you believe in?

What're you looking for, my moral compass?

- Maybe. - It points to Sergei Semak.

You can't build your life around revenge. There needs to be something else.

Unless you wanna end up like Nikita.

Sold. And now we present item 1649...

...Portrait of Eva Gonzalés...

...oil on canvas by Edouard Manet.

Bidding will open at 75,000 pounds.

Seventy-five thousand pounds. Thank you very much.

One hundred thousand. One hundred and fifty thousand.

Two hundred thousand pounds.

Two hundred and fifty thousand. Two hundred and fifty thousand pounds.

Are there any other bids?

At 250,000 pounds...

Excuse me, what was that?

Half a million pounds. Five hundred thousand pounds, here in the front.

At 500,000 pounds.

At 500,000 pounds.

Sold.

Excuse me, that piece.

I'm curating an exhibit next month...

...and hope perhaps we might arrange a loan?

I'm sorry, I'm just a proxy. The buyer wishes to remain anonymous.

Uh, could I speak to them?

I don't think so. He is a very private man.

Oh, that won't be an issue.

Suite seven.

Thank you. I'll be there once I pick up my personals.

I knew you couldn't resist the Manet.

Time for questions later.

Your situation's dicey. That's why I'm here. I have a plan for exfiltra...

Michael, this is my son, Max.

Max, this is an old friend.

Go ahead, Michael, tell me your plan.

Or did you not plan for this?

Michael, do you copy?

I need a minute.

Is there a complication?

Yes.

A little one.

Cassandra, I'd like you to meet your husband.

The likeness is uncanny.

The surgery's still settling. He'll look even better in a few weeks.

What you're doing is incredibly brave.

This is a great honor.

I swear I will do you proud as your husband.

You sure you're ready for this?

I know what I have to do.

Sometimes in order to get what we want, we have to sleep with the enemy.

Trust me.

This is going to work.

This is never going to work.

No, the plan's still good. It's just, uh, we need to accommodate for the...

We are not going unless I'm convinced of our safety. Both of ours.

- Is he...? - Yours?

No. He's 4, born two years after you left.

Don't worry, you're not the father.

Why did Ovechkin keep this a secret?

He's convinced that if word got out, his enemies would target him through Max.

In Belarus, keeping secrets is a way of life.

As you know.

Look, anyone who knows about Ovechkin's secret is a threat.

- Which is why we need to... - I am aware of the situation.

I have my own plan for us to get free.

You will only complicate things, so please...

...just leave us alone.

This is Bluejay. Confirming completion of stage one.

Lisa's cleared the border patrol. She's entered Belarus.

Good. Give her a green light.

Bluejay, this is Ops.

Commence Operation Cold Shadow.

Neutralize President Valeri Ovechkin.

Copy.

I'm off the truck.

Wait. We have a situation.

Truck driver says he's been stopped by soldiers.

Bluejay-

Bluejay-

- Her tracker's active. She's alive. - She's been captured.

We can scramble an IHR team unless you have a force on stand-by.

That was a patrol. It'll take a while to get her to anybody with authority.

Which should give us time to...

Come on, let's go.

There will be no rescue mission.

- That is not what we do. - You have an agent that's taken.

- That agent... - Is alive.

Sean.

- Can I talk to you privately? - No. You can talk to me right here.

Very well.

Every Division operative knows the risks.

- Deniable assets. That is who we are. - Well, that's not who I am.

I'm going after her. I expect full operational support.

You got a problem with that, call Oversight.

You never leave a man behind.

I can't remember the last time someone spoke to Amanda like that.

Well, yes I can. It was me.

Glad you approve.

I'm going with you.

She's only there because I turned the mission down.

Uh-huh.

Not because it's the right thing to do?

How could you not have found out she has a son?

Oh, I'm sorry, I'm supposed to be looking for kids who may or may not exist?

I'll go recalibrate Cerebro.

Fine. I'll see what I can dig up.

Michael, I wanted to ask you something...

...but I didn't want it to come out the wrong way.

That night in Russia at the safe house...

...you said you couldn't be with me because you had to avenge your family.

But now you're saying that you'd been with Cassandra.

The man that was with Cassandra, that was someone else.

Someone who thought...

...by serving his country as best as he could, he might find himself again.

Someone who was trying to forget his wife and daughter.

Someone that...

...didn't have to be me.

Okay, found some stuff, not much.

Ovechkin's been able to keep a lid on this kid

Belarusian media is tightly state-controlled.

The guy could sprout a second head, and all you'd hear in the news...

...is the brightly colored new turtlenecks he's wearing.

When the kid does go out in public...

...they try to pass him off as the son of this woman.

I think she's his nanny or something.

That's it. There's no other data trail.

I couldn't even tell you how old he is.

He's 4.

Same age as Hayley.

I can't say good night to my son?

And English in front of the boy. He must learn.

Go wash up now. Go.

How was the auction?

Disappointing. I didn't get what I wanted.

Perhaps you'll have better luck at the next one.

There's another right after you return from Paris.

You are going to Paris, yes? Volkov found the itinerary in your planner.

For the fine arts symposium. I told you about it.

It slipped my mind.

Anyway, it's fine. Go.

Max and I will be waiting for you here.

Max? I was planning on taking him with me.

No, no, no. He'll stay here. I insist.

Why are you doing this?

Killing people, defying the Americans.

You are putting us all at risk.

I am in charge now, not the Americans...

...and certainly not that suka sitting in Percy's seat.

I'm building a legacy.

For my son.

Besides, I don't want him missing his piano lessons.

It's the auction house.

Guess she wants to renegotiate.

I can't talk long

I told Volkov I left something. He's waiting.

I know. We're monitoring the security cameras.

He found our travel plans. He won't let Max go.

It's okay. We're gonna get you out. I need to know where you're gonna be.

I have our schedule down to the minute.

Michael, we need to get out of here now.

I'll be in touch.

Michael.

Thank you.

Okay, the jet is still at an airfield outside town.

We have a window of exactly 79 minutes...

...to get both Kanga and Roo on the plane...

...and clear Belarusian airspace. According to her planner...

...Cassandra has a weekly salon treatment at the palace.

Massage, facial, mani-pedi.

Lasts about an hour and a half. Should fit the bill nicely.

You're gonna have to lose Ivan Drago.

Meanwhile, little Maxie has piano lessons at the same time.

You're gonna have to shake both the teacher and the nanny.

Time to go.

How did you get into the palace?

Your regular masseur has a mild case of food poisoning. He's sleeping...

...which is why he hasn't noticed he's missing his security credentials.

Put these on.

I had to guess your size.

- What about my manicurist? - Car trouble.

But her replacement got here a while ago.

Heads up, Nikki, teach's headed your way.

Copy that. We'll be clear.

We have a problem.

Is it under control?

Nikita, this only works if we get them out at the same time.

Yeah, I know. Max...

We need to abort.

Repeat, abort.

Get back on the table.

Nikita, are you clear?

That is why you never work with kids or animals.

Status?

We traced Lisa's tracker signal to an abandoned factory...

...in the outskirts of Minsk.

I've given Alex and Sean the location.

Are you with Americans? MI6?

Alex and Sean are there. They just entered the facility.

This is Amanda.

I told you before, I do not talk with you.

Only Percy. Goodbye.

You're holding one of my agents. I want you to release her.

Your agent?

- You sent her here? - To kill you.

You want me to kill her?

What I want is for you to behave.

We both know you don't have the spine to defy us...

...so let her go and stop wasting my time.

Leave the killing to the grown-ups, Valeri.

Should we prepare exfil for Alex and Sean?

No need.

I'll call Division for an exfiltration route.

We're not going anywhere.

Now what?

Why not eliminate the threat? Kill Ovechkin.

We're not equipped for a kill mission.

It's a non-starter.

Kill Ovechkin and security forces will shut down the country.

We'd never get out of here.

Much less with Cassandra and Max.

The last thing we need is for Ovechkin to die.

What do you mean we're not going anywhere?

We're gonna kill Ovechkin.

All right, team, everyone ready for round two?

Ovechkin's hosting a state dinner at the palace.

About 40 or 50 foreign dignitaries should be there...

...but more importantly for us, so will a ton of support staff.

Trick is getting out of the party.

That's where the evac car comes in.

Cassandra says Ovechkin always has one ready to go at these events.

Thing's a tank. Double steel chassis, 50 mil bulletproof glass, run flat tires.

Best of all, security clearance plates that let it pass freely though any checkpoint.

Get in this car, no one's gonna stop you for hundreds of miles.

You'll be across the border before anyone notices.

Lisa's cover as a translator is still intact.

Okay, so we have security clearance...

...party invite, and then of course, heh...

I've got the rest of our supplies. Almost all of it was available.

- Division still has the Semtex. - You know how to rig the explosive?

It's a simple RS circuit connected to a wire detonator. Special Forces 101.

No, the tricky part is planting the payload in Ovechkin's car.

But it's armored. - Not from the inside.

Security should be focused around the residence.

The car should have minimal coverage.

You plant the package, then I figure out how to get Ovechkin out of the party.

We can say goodbye to another murdering dirt bag.

Sean, you're not that different from me, you know.

You say that you are, but this is all about payback.

- Taking out Ovechkin is the right thing. - You want revenge just like I do.

This is about more than what I want.

It's about letting them know you screw with one of us, you screw with all of us.

Now, we still need Ovechkin to trust you.

Amanda says she's working on it.

- Oh, and I didn't get you anything. - Not yet.

So how's the situation in Belarus shaping up?

As a matter of fact, Alex is on it as we speak.

Alex? How did you get her to do something so messy?

So Division?

Sometimes you have to sacrifice a pawn to motivate your knights.

Amazing how easily the chess metaphors come to mind...

...when you're running Division, isn't it'?

So you're still looking for some outreach to Ovechkin?

Just a little icebreaker.

He's a hard man to get through to.

Perhaps I can help.

Why don't you send him a message for me?

Okay. Max will be in bed by 9.

Cassandra will excuse herself from the party to tuck him in.

You know, I had an instructor at Division who said that...

...an emotionally compromised agent is more dangerous than a jammed gun.

"Check your feelings or check out," he said.

Sounds like a real jerk to me.

Yeah. He was.

- Too bad I fell in love with him. - Hey, hey, hey, look.

There is nothing going on between me and Cassandra, okay?

I put her in a bad way six years ago, and now I have a chance to help her.

- That's all. - I know.

I really do.

But I also know that this is more than just righting an old wrong.

This is about a woman and a child who were killed by a car bomb 10 years ago.

So what if it is?

You have to know that Hayley and Elizabeth's deaths...

...they weren't your fault.

You did not fail them.

And Cassandra and Max...

...they're not your family.

I'd started to forget what it's like.

Having a family.

You have a family.

Right here.

You guys really have to learn to turn off your comms.

And if this week's episode of General Hospital is over...

...you might be interested to know the party has started.

I've got Cassandra. We're going to the car.

- Do you have Max? - Almost there.

I'll need a few minutes. Get Ovechkin primed.

Max.

Max.

- Nikita, are you okay? - Nanny has a gun.

A gun? In Max's room?

- No. Max. - I need you to get to the car.

- No. - Listen, I will go back. Trust me.

- Go around the back. It's quicker. - Okay, go.

Max.

Max? Max!

The package is in position. Good to go.

I have a message. From Iceman.

He says, "The Kodiaks are running wild this season."

- Percy sent you? - Yes. To tell you something.

He is coming back. Soon.

- I had heard he was... - Forget what you heard.

Percy is no longer with Division, but he is as powerful as ever.

He has a plan. He will be counting on his allies, including you.

Anything for Percy. What can I do?

You have enemies everywhere. An attack will be coming.

You need to get out of here. Tonight.

- Do you have secure passage out? - Of... Of course.

You have to go now.

He's headed for the car.

Max.

Max.

Did you see Michael? He went to help you.

I'll find him. Head to the car and leave. We'll find our own way out.

- Michael, are you all right? - Yes. Stand by.

OVECHKIN

Guys, just picking up something weird here.

A low-band RF signal coming from, uh... the car?

Car's been started. Ovechkin's there.

Crap on a stick.

Uh, yeah, guys, that RF signal?

That is a frequency normally reserved by the military for remote detonation.

I think there's a bomb in the car.

Where's Cassandra and Max?

- Oh, my God. - Get them out of there!

Oh, my God!

- Ready to fire. - Copy that.

I love you.

I know.

Is it done?

Heading to confirm.

Come with me.

Who the hell are you? You're not with Percy.

Yes, I am. Please, let me explain.

- You are trying to kill me. - No, I'm trying to help you.

So you know nothing about this?

- Who is that? - Who are you working for?

I used to be with Division, like Percy, we've parted ways. I'm a free agent now.

You don't know who's behind this?

Like I said, you have many enemies.

But believe me when I tell you, I do not want you dead.

But he does.

That should keep them occupied.

- Go. You should hide. - What about you?

- I'll handle them. - Cassandra.

Michael, I can do this.

Stop!

You were right.

Taking out Ovechkin was the right thing to do.

You did something that had nothing to do...

- ...with Semak, the black box, or Nikita. - Heh.

When was the last time you could say that?

I honestly can't remember.

How does it feel?

Pretty good.

Yeah, well, doesn't change anything.

Just a little detour.

Well, you know, sometimes it's the little things in life...

...that can make all the difference.

It's a start.

You sure you wanna stay?

Ovechkin is dead. Max and I will be safe now.

That doesn't mean you can't leave, get away from this.

You can go to Paris, uh, the States...

Hawaii?

Cassandra, I'm... I'm sorry.

For what I did six years ago.

Now that Ovechkin's gone, I hope that you can move on.

Because it's time you had something we all deserve.

A future.

Michael, six years ago...

...your job was to put on an act.

That's okay, because that was a time in my life when I needed certain things.

Comfort and respect and a sense of worth.

And you gave them to me.

Thank you.

Oh. Hi, Mom. Heh.

- Hi. - Hi.

Thank you for everything.

He's a great boy.

He's my world. Heh. And he likes you.

We did have some quality time together.

He's a talker. He told me his favorite food...

...what kind of dog he wants, why he hates practicing piano.

His birthday.

It's weird. Kids are so precise about their age.

Max insisted that he wasn't 4. In fact...

...he's a little over five, isn't he?

My best guess, born 9 months after Michael's mission.

Michael is Max's father.

Are you going to tell him?

It would mean an end to all of our futures.

You know what kind of man he is. He would never be able to stay away.

And if our enemies found out, how long would it take before one of them...

...came to hurt Max to get at Michael?

In our world...

...families are a liability.

Our loved ones are our weaknesses.

The decision is yours.
