They just put in a septic system.

So, now, they are ready to have the camp renovated.

It's definitely in rough shape.

It's very close to the water, but it's a bit of a shell,

and they definitely need to make it their own.

and they finally talked us into joining them.

We want a place to make memories with our kids,

and we're hoping that, one day, we can pass it on to them.

We'd like to have a metal roof.

Deb's sister does a lot of stained glass work,

so she's offered to make a stained glass for our renovation.

When are you hoping to get the camp back?

It would be fun if we could come up and do some leaf peeping

at the end of fall.

Probably about ten weeks to get the project completed.

On the interior of the camp, we're gonna change the layout

from three small bedrooms to two larger bedrooms,

then move and expand the bathroom.

We'll also remove the wood stove throne.

We're gonna have a heat pump instead.

Move the kitchen door to the side of the camp

and add a loft space for additional sleeping.

Just when you think you've seen it all...

Got a really nice deck.

We can keep this.

- I got a nice screen porch, this would be great. - -Yeah.

That side of the roof is brand new, but that side's not.

- But the whole thing's coming off, right? - -Yes.

On the exterior, we're gonna add a new black metal roof,

new black windows, and a mixture of cedar shakes and board and batten siding.

We'll also turn the existing deck into a screened-in porch.

Today is demo day at the Dyken camp.

We're tearing the entire roof off the camp.

The electrical power currently comes in on the side of the camp.

That's being torn off.

We're putting up this temporary pole

so we can run our power tools while we work here.

Once we have the roof on,

and the electricians come in and wire everything up,

the electric will be connected directly to the camp.

so I'm hoping that the roof and everything else will be as easy as this.

onto a coffee table.

So, I had this table in my storage unit.

And this is the map that I found at the Dyken camp.

So, what I'm gonna do is line the map up.

It doesn't quite fit on the table.

So, what I was thinking is, I will cut a circle out

and, then, put it down on the table.

First thing I need to do is I need to cut out the map to the size that I want it.

So, now the map's cut out. Next step is to put the paste down onto the table.

Once the paste is on the table,

you lay the map down exactly where you want it.

Then, you need to flatten it out.

Take a credit card and get rid of all the bubbles.

It's like a Zamboni.

Once the map is glued on,

you go over it with another layer of the glue.

All right. So, now, I am just gonna let this dry.

The glue will dry clear.

And, then, I will put another coat of sealant on it, and it will be ready to go.

reframed the downstairs walls.

and we are getting the roof off.

Roof has been torn off. Loft is going in today.

And once the loft floor is on, then the rafters can go up.

All the interior walls have been reframed.

Right now, we're just putting the floor down in the loft,

so we have a safe working area so we can put up our ridge poles.

And we're gonna have cathedral ceilings in the kitchen,

so it was a perfect time for me to be able to come in and work with Otis.

So, we are going to design one specifically for this cabin.

So, this chandelier will fit in perfect.

We had a good morning. We got the loft floor all decked over,

up and going.

We got Matty right now just trying to figure out our ridge pole.

Once the pieces have gone through the sander, we are ready to assemble.

Assembling the light, it's almost like putting a puzzle together.

It's really fun to just see it all come together.

So, this is Japanese paper

that is laminated with PVC plastic, both sides.

and, now, we are prepping for the metal roof.

So, we're getting the layout.

Those cedar shakes, in a couple years getting gray it's gonna look really sharp.

and regular pine on the walls.

We were able to increase the pitch of the roof.

We've had it for almost two years now,

and I haven't spent one night in it yet.
