After the first adrenaline-filled challenge...

the Blue team earned the power to nominate two players

-for possible elimination... -CORY: My vote...

for who should face off against Luis

that the name that is gonna pop out of this Hopper

is gonna spell "Bananas."

MONTE: My name might come out of that Hopper,

and I may have to go down there and prove myself.

TJ: All right.

[Michele whimpers]

TJ: First ball out, that's the one.

TORI: If a guy's name is on that ball,

he's gonna be playing against Luis.

If a girl's name is on that ball,

she's gonna be playing against Ameerah.

It's going to be all about chance.

Let's find out who's in trouble tonight.

that Hopper can make anything happen.

TJ: Ameerah, that means you are playing tonight,

one vote on me, and I now have a 25% chance

that I'm going into elimination tonight.

JOSH: Amanda and Michele have a bit of history,

obviously because of their relationship with Fessy.

-BANANAS: Fessy, handle your women. -AMANDA: Let's go, Ameerah.

-Send her home. -TJ: All right, we have

our first matchup of the season.

Ameerah versus Michele.

You are playing Slam Dunked.

As you can see, there are two giant tanks of water

right here in the middle of the Arena,

and each tank has 1,500 balls.

To begin, you and your opponent

are gonna be suspended above those tanks.

Then, when I say go, they're gonna dunk you in that tank.

Your goal is to get all of those balls out of there

as fast as you can.

Keep your wits, because then, it's gonna pull you

right back up and then drop you right back down.

It's gonna continue this process over and over again--

15 times.

Loser goes home,

and you are the first person eliminated

from The Challenge: USA.

There's not very many advantages to being a rookie in this game.

However, they have no idea what to expect from me, and so,

I'm thinking I actually have a chance to win this thing.

so I kind of know what I'm in for.

I'm gonna come back like a raging bull.

I'm pulling for Ameerah right now.

We need to stay Green strong, we need to keep our members.

Michele is aSurvivor champion, so, uh, yeah,

may be best to get one of those out.

-AMANDA: Come on! Keep going! -[alarm blares]

This is the last dunk! This is it!

This game has been neck and neck the whole time.

DESI: They're both fighting their asses off.

who I don't want to have to go against.

TJ: You both stayed focused.

And in the end, there's only gonna be one man

and one woman getting paid.

So, I'm gonna give you a chance to defect right now

and to replace another female on any other team you want,

even if they won.

Whoever you choose to go to, you are taking the place of,

and then they will go to your team.

MONTE: The power of defection brings up

a whole nother dynamic, 'cause now,

when you throw somebody down into elimination,

not only do you have to consider

that they're gonna be pissed at you for voting for them

but whether they're gonna take your spot on your team

and swap you out to go to a less favorable team.

BANANAS: I mean, this is a total game changer.

There is gonna come a point

where the power of defection

is going to be the only strategic play

for certain people to survive in this game.

eight players on our team,

but somehow nine votes

fell on our team,

that means that somebody from Team Red

voted for a Red player.

If we're gonna get to the bottom of this,

CHANELLE: Who did Jonna vote for?

-I have no idea. -MICHELE: It must be Jonna.

-PAULIE: You are something else. -AMANDA: Oh. God, I thought

because at the end of the day,

I'm a mom to my beautiful son Avonni.

He's three years old now. He's all I got.

and I think a lot of people don't see that,

which is, honestly, gonna be great for me.

We're very blurred with Survivorand Big Brother.

who I've done a Challengewith,

I mean, these people have connections all over the house.

Meanwhile, you got us sixChallenge vets,

and it's gonna get ugly.

WES: It's really scary, because there's

not a whole lot of us here.

We are grossly outnumbered.

I am, in fact, scared, in a game that is ruled

by anonymous, secret, scared voting.

So it's win or go into the Arena.

PAULIE: Getting wet today.

God, as if I haven't been dunked into water enough.

-Right? -TJ: Welcome

to your second challenge on this season

of The Challenge: USA.

Today's game is called Working the Poles.

[cheering, applause]

-Dollar make me holler. -[laughter]

TJ: As you can see, there is a giant structure up there

suspended 35 feet above the water.

-Ooh. -There are a bunch of poles on it.

You and your team are gonna start on one platform.

There are three different-colored platforms

-up there. -JOSH: Let's go.

TJ: Your goal is to get from one platform to the other

by going from pole to pole.

So when everyone's crossing in the middle,

it could get real tricky.

Do whatever you got to do

to get your team across as fast as possible.

This game is gonna be played in two heats.

So half of your team is gonna go, then the other half.

The team to get the most players across the fastest

will win today's challenge and be safe from elimination.

[cheering, applause]

BANANAS: You always want it in close when you're making a transfer.

-Yeah. -You never want to make a transfer like this

These are my competition braids.

Uh, and also, Tiffany's my new hairstylist.

CHRIS: This is gonna be

a very physically taxing challenge.

We looked out for Red team last week, so we're hoping

that Red team will look out for us this week and...

Tori wants to rip Amanda off, for sure.

Realistically, the only way, at this point,

to get far in this game and be safe,

and not have to deal with the damn Hopper,

is to win these daily challenges.

-Go! -[air horn blows]

DESI: Nice job, Luis.

Swing them back, guys! You got to swing them back

for the girls!

My team has a strategy that the guys

will jump out onto the poles first

and throw one back to the girls so that we can catch it,

hop on it and don't fall into the water.

I ain't never been a stripper, okay?

But, I mean, you know, we might like a nice pole here and there.

-Yes! -DESI: Good job, Tiff. Good job, Tiff.

-Can you push one to me, Sebastian? -Wait.

In the last 18 years, I have seen

just about everything.

A challenge like this is all about momentum.

You need to look at these lollipops as pendulums.

After you jump on one, you need to rely on

the pole in front of you as a way

to continue your momentum.

so we got to get him out of this game sooner or later.

Not winning gives you a chance to test who you can trust,

There is nothing sweeter than winning.

But nominating two people

to put at risk of elimination

can sort of be a burden.

Great to be safe, but also,

scary to potentially make some enemies,

because my plan is to get out a vet.

On a previous season, Amanda and I really got into it.

She's called me out into eliminations, I beat her,

and ever since then, she's been just talking

So Amanda's not somebody that I like to align myself with,

but there's only a fewChallenge vets here.

What do I like about Tori?

I love the way she holds herself.

I love a big, bad, bold and dangerous strong woman.

But is it good for my game?

No. It's the worst thing for my game.

We're trying to get these vets out,

but here I am liking one of them and starting

to crush on one, so it's tough, it's tough for me.

I am currently single. Yep.

It's not that I'm not looking to mingle,

I just have been around the wringer

when it comes to dating guys in this game.

So I'm just on guard.

[snoring]

CHANELLE: However we vote,

we have to keep the Hopper as clean as possible.

Is Jonna closer to Cory or Tori?

So is there any way we swing for, like,

a Jonna to try to, like, actually get Tori versus Jonna?

Amanda is safe.

Jonna, on the other hand, could be

the mystery vote that landed on me.

The girls in this room want Tori out,

so if Green team nominated Tori,

and we pitch Jonna as the secret vote,

so that Tori and Jonna go against each other,

it makes sure that a vet goes,

and does my dirty work for me.

I think we were clearly the targets last week.

And I think our main objective

has to be to keep Green strong.

Going into nominations,

I already have my mind made up.

My vote is for Bananas and Tori.

LUIS: I got to put in danger

some leaders of this Blue squad.

-Who are they? -Tori and Cory.

They are some big leaders, they-they control that group,

they've put me in danger.

Just based off of personal preference,

I would like to see a Red male.

-I'll go Tori. -DESI: I have no issue,

I have no relationship with Tori,

-so that's an easy... -I would have to say the same.

We need to shoot our shot early,

so, I mean, I think that Tori's a great one.

WES: It's almost like we're doing the house's dirty work

by publicly saying a scary name

when they're gonna anonymously say

the same names behind our back later.

We have a higher likelihood of finding ourselves

in partnerships with some of them,

if not a large percentage of them,

if we left them out of one cycle.

That math doesn't add, 'cause I genuinely don't think

the majority of the house thinks that way.

Do I think it's gonna be

in most people's interests for the vets to leave? 100%.

We can't have six people

who are the most experienced at the game

choosing who they want to go home.

You give us information

ahead of these challenges that helps us to navigate.

If you're not here, we don't have that level

-of insight and intelligence. -Yeah.

The only reason Chanelle got across

is because Bananas was coaching her.

The same benefit that you give to us,

he gives to them, so if we want to make sure our team is safe,

why not let us be the only one with an insider like that?

WES: I'm saying that if you wanted

the team's advice-- coach-- it is to hide for just one cycle

while we wait to get a little bit more data.

because it's a game of risk and luck.

I'm just hoping that the Hopper sends either

so we can get these vets out of the game,

because they have no real allegiances

to the rookies.

Our backs are gonna be against the wall this entire time.

and unless anybody wants to work with us,

then there's nothing we can do but fight.

JONNA: The Hopper is basically like

a lottery, it's a random chance thing, and...

if there's 15 balls in the Hopper,

I have a one-in-three chance of going against Tori tonight.

Now, as you can see behind me, there's a giant machine.

They're gonna come out one at a time.

Your opponent has to do the same thing.

You can wrestle each other trying to get that ball.

It's gonna get ugly. However,

if it gets loose and it's on the ground, it's out.
