a boy have any trouble to I was just speaking in English but maybe you never knew

any babies and they sometimes can put up on it for sort of these guys only I check

Any objections. I for children time and business Mr Hockey flag.

You know I think I'll take

a look at. Any objections. The

al. I don't want to be keeping

them structured but here an hour ago I was a boy stop for a cup of coffee and

a quick one missed I mean look at those drivers on that stupid I wouldn't stop any

other kind of

a low they're hauling on mine to call the other way out again. I

don't understand picked up the guy's the top of the drugstore they said you'd pay

the fare to Thomas like you.

Well. One minute we were driving along. Can't remember these

men better get lost but thank you Joe. I'm telling you that's what happened

yes trucks and all the fine parts that you are I took you in that way to some

protection another of us gun let you look that way to finding out

unless unless you already know what happened this couldn't be the double cross cut

it did. How can

I replied The truck's missing I'd have said all men checking on me to know or

remember it's

a federal offense to move tired even their own tired after the frozen OK so we're

going to about it.

Two truck drivers get slug and disappear. Call me back OK well be over take it

easy I know everything you're going to say before you stop we don't like Oculus and

nobody's going to get away with that stuff in this town I've got to lead anything

at all it's a little early yet just as a matter of routine we rounded up about

a half a dozen of the bad boys last night and gave them

a going over so far no dice nothing else yes there's one other thing I received

a report last night the tow truck drivers were slugged I don't know how it all fits

in but after getting free State of the drugstore they'd be before the ambulance

arrived and sound like the old days eighteenth Amendment gang was it tough to see

any Nobody had

a grudge against your old man musta walked into something yeah when I got hold of

the guy you want him to high don't get hothead and start taking things into your

own have OK OK but I'm not going to sit still actually with maybe

a private dick like you can cover

a lot of things that we wouldn't get and let's work together. OK

a way to make. These things for me to dance walk I thought maybe I'd like to have.

Thanks no.

I mean I'm a tenant or as

a captain by now. Business pretty quiet Ahmadi always been nice and quiet until

now I've read the papers or just

a funny I'm crazy about Superman but you see him last week there was

a killing on Front Street last. What's that got to do with me I never E.P.O.

The eighteenth Amendment I want to git you know that right now you can open up some

of the bad boys still hang out if you have

a can you go and watch the beef another thing happen to guys were beaten up and

didn't wait for the ambulance or the police follow up now they wouldn't be friends

Ely's what they cost you don't know where they might be hiding out. Who's supposed

to be a psych doc in town I wouldn't know but I'm running

a nice respect for business and I don't expect to be pushed around what was

tortured all I want to do is have

a nice little talk with the two guys who were beaten up that's all we'll pick them

up someday but in the meantime money zero zero zero zero being the general I don't

mind giving our northern tip when I know anything only. I don't right now OK.

Type boys.

To do let me keep strange office hours while

a joint about closed up so I say so I see my name is under one of John J.

Underwood distributors was nice meeting you now if you'll excuse me I had

a delay I've come to you on

a very important matter important to you or to me Well to me mostly but possibly

also to you your name has been suggested to me as

a private detective who knows his way around I could probably find out who shot

Lincoln Look Mr Underwood I've only got two days before I'm due to put on

a uniform I know is by the time enough this job I have in mind will pay whiles

a thousand dollars by that kind of money I have my reasons

this particular job is extremely confidential so I had for the police yes

perhaps but I would like to put

a private investigator on it you understand you see last night somebody slugged two

of my drivers and stole the trucks. That was in

a load load all the trucks were empty. All I want you to do is find out who was

behind the job it's possible to have a sing some sort of

a trade while you seem like

a part of the now if this were nineteen thirty and you were in the out the record

I've been away also talking business sometimes I buy and sell job lot to put

a lot of people supplies and so full of we could take the case

I might. Think I Just

a chance of this case might have something to do with another one I'm working on

shaving the time when all I wanted

a chance to talk to those two drivers were riding the little private hospital along

the streets so I thought it best to get someone to come up

OK I'll take

a run up there get them off I'm coming just mention my day. After

hours what do you want you've got

a couple of patients you missed trying to look after us two drivers are not allowed

to have the best or said OK this is important.

Than.

Now we have. Any good for you.

Show. This one for you. Yes.

It is delaying. I think about this like. I was worth

trying anyway wait

a minute something else just struck me how would you like to meet me at my spot

Cafe out West River Street. Well this is the lead of my ball the whole thing wide

open it just out of place for half an hour right.

I don't know why I let you down all these things anyway

a whole lot for me. To read it those two truck drivers were bumped off less than an

hour after I was in this joint asking some questions of Madi clock you run to see

that they want to talk you to be in the movement of years ago did very well out of

two and probably came along Marty was in the clear You see he was one against the

deceptive income tax paid up all right what's that got to do with me well it just

struck me that everything about this whole affair the shooting of your old man and

all that is right off the front page of the ten years ago stuff the kind of thing

Marty used to be very good at Yeah but listen here you. Say wait

a minute I read I see that he before comment. That's the car was parked

outside the hospital it's not the number that I changed the plate they couldn't

change those WHAT MORE DO YOU WANT IT WAS NOT A clock All right I wouldn't be

surprised at those holes didn't come from my old man's gun like you're right yeah I

waited this is no time playing here I'll go bust in

a joint place full of Muslims Besides dealing with a guy like why you need

a warrant otherwise you'd be out on

a raid all run down to city hall and get money back in an hour evitable you got

connections downtown somebody might tip him off right because you know you want to

go inside keep an eye and I get back to the boy all right I remember you just

watching him. I know how you feel but don't think I'm on the wrong hands get

a tour here I get it.

Out in curiosity could you point out my the fact I'm the head around right now that

it's stable in the corner a lot more

a little miss not the setting. For

a telephone. Aways the phone. Over there.

Want to talk to Mr Underwood to John Hunter. And all this is Eddie the lady

speaking yes I've got one. Too

while you're still any one of the name of the man behind the hijacking of your

truck the empty ones you're talking about it's the same guy that engineer but the

good side of the bat the new. Name is Clark Marty time I squashed.

This body clock that's right now cleans it up not down to work and I could check in

the mail tomorrow. Marks

the clock

and you made

a mistake of don't get any ideas you take what I know the see if you don't like

this pay off maybe I'll have to get myself

a couple of other boys call it Billy could work for somebody else anyway enough or

recently yeah maybe Mr Mata caucus forgot we was witness to the shooting of

a cop the other night witnessed. You're excessive before during and after the fact

you can't talk you can't quit you can't get out of this until I say so I'm not

going to say so take the dough that's all you get OK Marty says the way you want to

be. In the way I want to be

a. Lot

of people aren't even doing your own get paid job OK between.

The two I get in I'll try not to just hang around here and mix customers. To deny

me oh my god. That stuff. Down planned. The

Army. Had money talk over their. Debts money clogging

tanks. In person or. When the data was your.

Old. Assistant when I didn't say anything about coming down here I think you said

on the phone that I was so sure she was and then her told you that you're just

a male tomorrow and check no good to me about your life decide body clock bad next

. Custom is I'll be right back. Able to leave I'm

alone. You.

Are you want to call. I was going to go so I'm there for

a busy night like God. Andre

underwear a new place people talk a little more privacy than I was busy just

a matter of business very important business in regard to some off old time. Try

and come back later but I don't think you and I have any business trouble but you

don't know what I have

a drink on I. Go

there we don't know each other if you're going to be around I'm Bonnie Oh yeah

you're the check room girl first and you your mortgage new dish I don't know what

this is that is

a deal later on after Marty gets enough to show you're going to play the accordion

or seeing her do card tricks Meanwhile you'll mix with the customers that Marty's

routine is work too often he never had to change it.

I mean I was getting lonesome for. Why all the children and I saw it just because

one if you're not for

a few minutes. What you need is another dance. This

number please offer Yes we have a direct route about thirty seven X.

Box in town for yes certainly right away believe the box I was going on

with your retirement they want to notify everybody

a black cat. I thought everybody turned up alive at

the bottom yes gosh this is my attention they treat you like what do you mean the

key for them just call me it's

a black out everybody. Got it it's still get excited when I came in the post and I

got excited about your favor here than you are on the street I just take your faith

to stay calm always get those lights off OK Mommy.

I know that the listening to keep the thing grinding OK in the car.

My baby let's start.

At the door. This is what's the matter with

you I guess it's just I'm allergic to wool.

Yeah. Yeah yeah yeah. Yeah can we have some life.

Everybody don't judge you by.

The entire. Hierarchy of what's gone down the safe happy never again sorry and

if we were held up somebody turning up for the aerial arms how. Much. Somebody

trying to pull off. All right.

I'll stand by everybody on the back of your face while you watch the door.

Freehold So it's yes you did

a pretty good job to let me cut it out that isn't funny all right I'm white and

what happened was somebody said it was a black out it was a girl in

a jukebox you know to points with the smile lights were turned out body told

everybody to take it easy then started dancing with that girl over there and some

kind of an argument start dancing she walked off the floor left them some let him

have it hey wait and then he talked about me and had an argument I'm just tired of

dancing that's all and I'm tired of hanging around here all right if you get tired

to sit out check on the jukebox angle later see if the girl was in on it or Linda

was and she couldn't move in the light she couldn't so that's

a name it's allopathy I'm not saying I blame you for this but in the eyes of God

Still Mary I want you before you came in here not to take the law in your own hands

I'm telling you again I didn't rub him out I was just an innocent bystander

a lieutenant when I found how are you getting somewhere check on this and I've got

it it's an S. And W.

Six there's thirty four there just thirty thousand I don't have to check out

a bill that's my old man's gun I'd like to thank the guy that shot my Dick Clark

with it that's the way it should be down give me that stuff you're the only one of

your old man's gun why me because I was turned over to you along with the rest of

that stuff and you know it I never will but that bond that you gave me I don't see

how you better make it good that bottle of my father's stuff is still in my office

nobody can get hold of it excuse me Lieutenant how much money going to keep the

country just like the rest and get it over with I think you're right about that Mr

you can all go on now but leave your name and address at the door. All right

folks come on let's go let's go. You're under arrest Eddie are

you out of your head anybody here could it come on Eddie I hate to do this. And

I'll try anything funny.

Use the same thing he says won't get anywhere.

To put it. All right here on

this is Lieutenant Decker detective division I want you to send out

a general broadcast wanted to home aside and was delayed by six feet weighs about

one hundred sixty pounds so could I have been in on it I haven't even met Elaine he

had ideally. Well but he knows you only over the

wire and this kind of

a job you get to know people just by their voices from time to amuse ourselves by

trying to figure out what kind of a person goes with

a boy and you're willing to swear it was me telling you that called in order that

for me blackout of course it was an entirely different kind of voice Well you know

if you heard it again I most certainly would OK you go back to work but remember

you're

a material witness to this study you seem to be in the clear we're keeping our eye

on you so don't try and leave town.

Tell us cops can make you feel guilty just by looking at the check.

You lean toward why I now now ask what kind of this is official

All right sister I would never cheat about

a blackout you want to talk or do you want to come down to headquarters with me

Come on come on what about it well it's

a mystery I. Feel sure gave up

a box of my coke but he's wanted for murder isn't it almost all right to do let me

stand up

a notary Landis So I call the cops and so

you're Linde. A voice with the kids say you know you got the face to go

with it to he DID YOU BOUGHT ME WITH THIS I'M HOLDING YOU for the place Billy all

come out of. I had nothing to do with that murder and I don't find out who did I

cooked the policeman says they have

a perfect case against you anything to think we were accomplices on how to get us

approve or not if we turn you over to them maybe it will be what OK Oh.

Your lunch. We need only look

here in this just as much as I am somebody you decide that black out and I try to

use me for

a petty cash I don't want to get mixed up in anything like this which are mixed up

in it after probably come here again don't say anything about recognizing your

voice but I have already told the police Oh well don't say any more about it if

that killer find out you'd recognize his voice you'll really be on the spot already

one of my going to do and the dream girl

just sit tight and twisted Where is the phone it's it may have to tell by any.

Yes yes but I know what this is that

a delay me. Cried. Twenty minutes by this and that I knew I'd like to hire you to

protect me as I saw the body God but I've got a well I'm

a little hot to appear in public yes now but I'd like to hear what you have to say

Peter in twenty minutes. It goes for solving the quickest case of my career

CIA. That's foreign he's just friend and

how he's different.

Mr Underwood. A mistrial

Saddam must be here I'm up to never mind thanks to me now and.

You. Know.

Nothing's gonna happen if you're smart you gonna pack your things and get out of

town tonight. This is not

a game I mean when I say get out of town and state so for me this is going to.

Have

a ring on my voice and I guess it's something else again. And

I hold.

To that.

The window.

Was a nightmare when I said there was

a man there is no night there are marks where Jimmy the window and I thought you

were the killer to write what you thought were both in the same boat now you and I

are the two people the killers got to worry about that means we've got to get him

before he gets us look at you what happened so I walked into

a little trouble at the end of which he's dead but I got

a tip that may help her and I am scared don't be scared honey I'll practice my

guard duty for you tonight. And get

a cup of coffee on you sure I'll get it right away if.

You take the sugar.

a girl bad enough to be a fugitive without looking like

a tramp Oh one other thing there was somebody to your apartment Oh you mean please

no don't tell me a found a dead body in my apartment it's not very good it was

a blah blah maybe he was from the bad boy he'd been waiting for you all night and I

came to get your father she left without saying anything like minutes and left the

body to check I'm going to the spot she called up on the wooden tried to make

a deal she knows something is you trying to peddle it I've got to hold her just

relax you're not going anywhere do you change your clothes and have some breakfast

you can dress in there thank you did

a good ten minutes OK Dreamgirl if you're the boss and I make

a phone call first you are

the caption that's where she lives the question apartments on

a things drag the phone number eight between two one to one.

Then it's no cop that's right. Say what you want Bonnie's address anyway

I don't like this watch more newborn thing and I like this I think I'll just let

him know.

And now for the bunny I'm going with you wait

a minute somebody might be watching her apartment I think

a phone call. Yeah.

Can I talk of been trying to find you for hours but to delay any would be worth two

hundred dollars so you don't know who killed Marty Clark. The answer is Yes Well

don't keep your eyes but I'll try to get away the neon Elmer the librarian fifteen

minutes fifteen minutes. And it's all fixed if you have two hundred dollars you

flatter me Mr Never mind you have to take

a check you wait right here and keep your door locked hey wait

warning all right. When you can make

a bank. Teller

. You know I can all right turn yourself over the police won't take them long to

find out you haven't killed anybody maybe I don't forget I've got

a commission in the Army. I'm up to my neck in

a murder murder. Then you just have to break the case in spite of everything and

I'm sticking it to do what's next on the program. I was

thinking about the ONLY FOR ME for us to work over those boys with money.

Sometimes I wonder which one of the detectives walking up to take part of this into

the stock to say yeah I know it but But nothing around to watch.

Anyone I know a big guy with

a flat no. OK Mr Delaney. I

won't be able to get in to night can you carry on like. That. Yes in

government just commission me and you have read it and they make

a deal I thought I seen you done this fast and I told

the boys you guys to come super I want you to hold me for the memory money Clark

heard you go.
