Narrator: Thundarr the Barbarian.
The year 1994.
From out of the space, comes a runaway planet
hurdling between the Earth and the moon,
unleashing cosmic destruction.
[wave crashing]
Man's civilization is cast in ruin.
[explosion]
Two thousand years later, Earth is reborn.
A strange new world rises from the old.
A world of savagery, super-science,
and sorcery.
But one man bursts his bonds to fight for justice.
With his companions, Ookla the Mok,
and Princess Ariel,
he pits his strength, his courage,
and his fabulous sunsword against the forces of evil.
[growling]
He is Thundarr the Barbarian.
Narrator: We now return with "Thundarr the Barbarian."
[instrumental music]
[whooshing]
[music continues]
Lords of Light! Those winged creatures are humans.
Yet they fly like birds.
Not exactly, Thundarr, they're gliding.
On the wind currents.
In ancient times, people used to do this for sport.
Thundarr: it seems a most dangerous game.
[swooshing]
[Zapping]
Judag and his mutants have seen us!
Return to the village. Hurry up!
[screaming]
Demon dogs!
Once sorceress to the rescue.
[Zapping]
Your sorcery...saved...my life.
And we will aid the rest of your people as well.
[growling]
[Zapping]
[Thundarr yells]
Ookla!
[Ookla growling]
Good work, old friend.
[Zapping]
Taste Thundarr's fury, mutant!
Destroy them!
Judag commands you!
[growling]
[crashing]
[growling]
[growling]
[screaming]
I see Ookla has sent me a present.
Judag will not be your prisoner, barbarian.
Avalanche!
[grams]
[crashing]
Lords of Light. I had the scoundrel in my grasp.
But now, he's safe behind this barrier of stone.
Let us return to Ariel.
Thundarr, this is Tork, he's the leader of the glider people.
What is the reason for this attack?
Let us hasten to my village.
There, I will tell you all.
To the village! Ride!
[thunder claps]
[instrumental music]
The hunt is almost over, Merlek.
The barbarian called Thundarr has found Judag.
But capturing him and stopping his evil plan is up to me.
You mean us, Shara.
Don't forget, we're a team.
[Squawks]
Give me a hand. With your tail!
Right on! Reel me in, Yeek.
You'll have to move faster friend,
if you expect to share our barbarian's adventures.
Maybe Shara the Barbarian should move a little slower
if she wants Merlek the Sorcerer around to save her neck.
[thunder claps]
Tork: Once Thundarr, Judag was in bondage to a wizard.
But he made a daring escape.
Just as Ookla and I did.
Ah, but unlike you, Judag has vowed to become a wizard,
rather than to battle their evil.
Now, he's searching the canyon
for the Den of the Sleeping Demon.
[gasps] But, that's only an old legend.
Aye...the tale goes that whoever wakes the demon,
will be granted magical powers.
And Judag believes it is true.
Then he must be stopped!
The world can do without another evil wizard.
Ariel, Ookla, and I will search
every corner of the canyon for Judag.
We can't take the horses down those narrow trails, Thundarr.
Perhaps you would like to try our gliders?
[thunder claps]
[grams]
I have a feeling Mok's weren't meant to hang glide.
Be brave, Ookla. We will find Judag before long.
[growling]
[instrumental music]
Merlek: Something's wrong, Shara.
We should've seen some trace of Judag by now.
[Squawks]
Shara: It's a trap!
[Zapping]
Merlek: Take us in closer, Yeek.
If they want a fight, they'll get one.
[Shara yells]
[Zapping]
Not bad for a couple of beginners, are we?
[grunting]
My magic spell wasn't strong enough.
[Squawks]
Thundarr: Demon dogs! There, ahead!
Ariel: Judag's mutants! And two kids!
[Squawks]
[growling]
[Squawks]
[growling]
Thundarr: Release the young ones, mutants.
Or feel Thundarr's rage!
[groaning]
Are you two youngsters alright?
We are not youngsters.
I am Shara a fierce barbarian.
And I'm Merlek, a mighty sorcerer.
Indeed.
So fierce and mighty
you barely survived that ambush.
You've no business...
Adventure is our business.
We were in the northern village when Judag learned
the secret of the Demon's Den.
We vowed to capture him
before he unleashed the demon's power.
The same promise we made to the glider people.
[Yeek squawks]
It is madness.
They've got spunk though, you have to give them that.
Are you old folks coming?
Or must we youngsters search for Judag alone?
Ariel. Ookla. Take wing.
[grunting]
[growling]
Judag: it does not matter that the barbarians escaped,
you delayed them long enough for me to find the demon.
When it wakes, the power of 1,000 sorcerers will be mine.
And as for our foes, if they find us, we shall be waiting.
Merlek" The canyon ends here,
there's no where else Judag could've gone.
[Ookla growling]
- What is this place? - An old Earth hospital.
A place where the sick were made well.
It's also the demon's den.
Exactly as the legends describe it.
You stay here and guard the gliders, Yeek.
[Squawks]
Beware, I sense danger within.
Instinct warns me, Judag is near.
- Far in. - Far in?
It's old Earth slang. I studied it in-depth.
Where can Judag be hiding?
Judag: Here, girl.
I've been waiting for you.
[Zapping]
Attack!
[Zapping]
Shara: Merlek. The ceiling!
[Zapping]
I've got it.
But I can't hold it for long.
A moment will do while I make these devils flee.
[growling]
[Zapping]
Ookla! Hang on!
L...got you!
[grams]
[screams]
Can't...hold on.
[screams]
Shara!
[Shara whimpers]
Do not struggle, young ones. You are my prisoners now.
And as for your friends,
they will never return from the bottom of that shaft.
The creatures down there will finish them!
[instrumental music]
[growling]
Ariel. Ookla. Are you here?
[grunts]
Off me...
...slime dweller!
[growling]
To your feet, Ookla. There is danger.
Oh! I feel like I just fell down an elevator shaft.
[grams]
Now, devil rats, know Thundarr's rage!
[yells]
[Zapping]
Take that, you rat.
[growling]
You'll not feast on Mok tonight, rat.
[yells]
[grams]
[instrumental music]
Slink back to the slime, creature.
You'd have won a blue ribbon at a rodeo, Thundarr.
Ro-deo?
Come, we must see if Shara and Merlek are safe.
Ariel: While we were gone, the ceiling collapsed.
The place is in shambles.
And no sign of the young ones.
They may be Judag's prisoners.
Ariel, come, we search.
Ookla, see that Yeek and our wing-wings
are where we left them.
[grams]
L...don't think Ookla's crazy about that bird.
Enough talk, time is short.
Judag must be stopped before he wakes the sleeping demon.
[Squawks]
[growling]
[Squawks]
[laughs]
[Squawks]
[groans]
[instrumental music]
[grams]
[grams]
You'll pay for this, Judag,
when Thundarr returns.
But Thundarr will not return.
By now, the rats have made a quick supper of him.
But, don't despair.
You're about to witness history.
With the ancient scientific knowledge in this book,
I shall wake the demon and gain the power
of 1,000 wizards.
And you shall have the honor
of being my first victims.
Fiend!
Let the awakening commence!
[whirring]
[crackling]
[explodes]
[crackling]
Arise from your slumber, demon.
I Judag, command you!
[screeching]
- Lords of Light! - The demon!
It must be!
[grams]
[Squawks]
Now, demon, I demand my reward!
[yells]
The demon's turned on Judag.
He can't control him.
Don't celebrate yet. It could turn on us next.
And if Thundarr really is gone...
[Thundarr yells]
Merlek: Thundarr! Shara: Ariel!
Help! Help...me!
Thundarr: Away demon!
Judag is mine!
[Squawks]
[grams]
Lords of Light!
Well, now that we're all present and accounted for,
suppose I unwrap you two mummies.
What went wrong, Ariel?
Why didn't the demon give Judag magical powers.
Ariel: I'm afraid this may be the answer.
"Genetic Research Project 112-K."
What does that mean?
In the last days of old Earth,
scientists were experimenting with creating
new forms of life in laboratories and hospitals.
The demon isn't a demon,
it's one of those life science experiments.
A thing of flesh and blood, not a creature of magic?
Then after it's long sleep, it will require food.
And the nearest edibles are the Glider People.
Judag has done them harm enough.
They will not fall prey to this creature as well. Come.
[screaming]
Thundarr has failed. The demon is loose.
And our people are doomed.
Thundarr: Tork!
Do not lose hope,
we can defeat the demon thing.
And shall!
Keep an eye on Judag for us, okay?
[clamoring]
[Zapping]
Not bad, Merlek. But, watch this.
[screeching]
[Shara yells]
Down Yeek. Fast!
[swooshing]
Thanks, Merlek. That was close.
Now, demon thing, we end this battle.
Demon dogs!
Oh, no you don't.
[Zapping]
[grams]
[grams]
Hey! Since when do you take orders from him?
[instrumental music]
Well done, old friend.
And I thought you and Yeek would never hit it off.
Farewell Thundarr, Ariel, Ookla.
Maybe we'll run over each other again someday!
[Squawks]
"Run over each other?"
Old Earth slang, remember?
What sort of adventures do you think
they'll find out there, Thundarr?
None, I hope. They are still only children.
[Ookla growls]
[theme music]
[music continues]
