Original subtitles

- They are bringing his plane in now.

- As you knew, the President's speech

will be transmitted to all 40 languages.

- A fantastic network of broadcasting.

- One minute longer, let's go to Ted on the car phone.

- Protection.

All these fantastic 200 foot mirrors.

This is truly a marvelous observatory.

- These wonderful marble steps.

Public great marble steps, here he comes.

- Vigilance.

We have shared a vigilance

which we're not with now.

We have watched over our nation with stern vigilance.

- Do you know what time it is, all I'm saying

'cause it's seven a.m. and it's time to wake up.

- Then I'm gonna ask them

about their prior experience.

- 1995 and 2995.

That's 1995 and 2995.

- They're building these wild skyscrapers

all joined in the lab you feel and now girl envy.

The air conditioning is always on.

So you see building in recent space.

- Co stars certain dealing with national guardians.

Just a nation upholding violence.

'Cause he's struggle on the way to work.

We're gonna struggle to make sense

of nations facing us today.

I wanna get your reactions.

The President's speech lives.

- See that if someone around you

or someone you know is an alien or is a human being

that does not respect the sovereignty of this moon,

the sanctity of this prayer,

then we must all rise up.

It's our duty to arm ourselves, to rise up

and put these criminals in our gun sights, not be afraid.

We can not be afraid.

- I don't know of this as an invasion.

I don't know if I care.

I know that I wanna save Earth for my children.

Is that too much to ask for?

- Will you state your full name please.

- Harrison, Phillip.

- I'd like to remind you that this conversation

is being recorded.

It's just for your protection and our records.

- That's quite all right.

- I'm gonna tell you a quick story.

Let's say you're sitting down to a thanksgiving dinner.

Your relatives are there, the food smells great, just great.

Little nephew comes up to you, he says,

"Uncle Phil, come up to my room,

"I'm gonna show you my new pet."

You say okay, you go to his room.

You sit on the dresser.

And next to the baseball cards and the puppy mag

and little knick knacks, there's a little jar.

And your little nephew whispers in your ear and says

"Uncle Phil, this is my friend, my only friend.

"L love him, Uncle Phil."

- What's in the jar?

- It's an invader.

It's a fucking invader, a fucking alien,

that's what's in the fucking jar.

Looks like a little mouse.

Maybe a little cuter, it's got these big brown wet eyes

looking up at you.

And look at with the same eyes.

So what do you do, Uncle Phil?

What do you do with your nephew's best friend

is what we find?

- Hmm, I'd kill it.

- This can be nice for you.

- You know how it is sometimes

when you wake up in the morning

and you know you couldn't possibly do anything

except your job.

I'm glad I have to drive a lot

because I don't know what I'd do with myself sometimes.

My job was simple.

I was being sent to Malibu to kill something.

Something I probably wouldn't get a chance to understand.

Maybe it would look different than me

or maybe it would see inside my mind

and look like someone I knew.

But something felt familiar.

At first, I didn't recognize it.

Then I did.

Just walk away.

Another trick of the mind.

- Well, they look sick.

I mean, that's typical of these ice plants, you know?

They're drought resistant so if you water them too much

they can pucker, look like they're dying.

- Yeah, it used to be that you didn't have to pump

the ground full of vitamins just to make stuff grow.

- You're lucky.

Because I remember, when this place was full of those trees,

most of them are gone now.

- Mhmm.

So you know since you spend a lot of time here,

even looking after my plants, you know,

- Yeah, well you, you, and the dogs,

and then you.

And the whole package, yeah, yeah.

- Well I mean I think we're a good team, so,

I mean, you behave like, you know,

you find me attractive, I think that's a big part

of a successful couple.

- Well yeah.

- I've never seen a successful couple.

- Well, yeah , well, we are.

Well we could be.

You know, if you count my parents,

but they're divorced so I guess it doesn't really count.

- No.

- I know that I'm kind of, uh,

nerdy and not all that handsome.

- No I think you're beautiful.

- Thank you, but I'm really not.

But I'm smart and that makes me attractive of course.

- Of course.

You're very attractive.

- Would you like to get married?

Because it, it won't be very expensive or anything.

- Yeah, I mean I was gonna ask you.

- What's going on?

You seen this thing?

- Nope.

I was sent to Malibu to clean up.

I called you but you were teaching a class,

no big deal.

- Two hours ago, Lazlo Amado, our project leader

was killed along with two guards.

Men have been with us for years.

- My name is Nan.

- Alan Grady.

- Louise.

Do you have any pictures?

- Hey, Jake.

Did Alan have enough files for all you guys?

- They just asked me for some pictures.

- Well you don't need pictures, I'll just tell you.

We captured two lifeforms,

one of which you've guessed has escaped.

We don't need pictures of this one

because it's got a twin and it's still in confinement.

Sounds like we better just terminate

the second one straightaway.

- That we know.

Alan here has been working on this for three months

and tonight, he watched the project leader get killed.

- Well, what are we waiting for?

Let's just clean up this mess.

- Well, I appreciate your offer,

Louise, I really do.

But I need to talk specifically to you and Nan for a bit

before we move on.

- All right, what else?

- Okay, this is gonna be hard for me to say

so I'm just gonna say it.

It's coming up from higher up.

It's not my decision.

- Hey Phil.

- This is Phil Harrison.

The new guy I was telling you about.

- Come in.

- Louise.

- I'm Nan.

- Yeah, I asked Phil to sit in with us

and he hopes that it would clarify some things

this report doesn't necessarily make clear.

Nan, Louise, I think you're great, just great

but I can't have you in on this one.

- Hey, I work only with them.

I mean if this has something to do with a strength issue,

I can only tell you that they,

- Jake, I know how you feel, okay?

This has nothing to do with ability.

Really, it doesn't.

- What the fuck?

- Maybe we should show them the second man.

- All right.

Before you guys hate me, why don't we go upstairs

and we'll show you what we've got.

Remember the twins we found in Colorado

and how quickly they multiplied?

And they were all developing

distinctive manipulative abilities.

At first, I didn't think we would be invaded.

When these things start landing, there were too many

various species, and they lacked organization.

Frankly, they were easy to kill.

But now I feel differently.

I know that if a creature has the ability

to manipulate a portion of a human being's emotional life,

then we are only a hair's breath away

from being mentally enslaved.

- Doesn't seem to be threatening.

- Yeah, looks like the first guy, only cuter.

- Let's just capture the other one, and,

I mean, don't be ridiculous, Larry.

- He can't be captured.

We have to kill him.

- Why do you have to kill him?

- Don't we always kill them?

Isn't that what we do?

- We'll just capture the other one,

put him under observation.

- You know if another agent even jokes

about protecting an alien,

we're supposed to report them.

- Please, new guy, don't read me the rulebook, okay?

This is clearly no threat.

You're all overreacting.

- Phil's right, Louise.

Something like that can get you both

fired and arrested.

- Relax, guys.

- It's no big deal.

- Okay, Nan.

Nan, please, come on, let's go.

I wanna go around the room and gather all your opinions.

It's important to me that you all relax

and try to be as honest as possible.

We're going to start with you, Jake,

and I want you to describe for me what you saw downstairs.

Physically describe it.

- What can I say?

For a humanoid, bland, striking features.

- Striking?

Isn't that an understatement?

- Please, Nan.

Phil?

Would you please describe what you saw physically?

- Well there wasn't much to go on actually.

I mean he looks a little like the Colorado stringer,

what about that.

More than I was passable.

Kind of reminds me of the ones we saw

in New York last summer.

Other than the bland humanoid features,

I don't see much any answer to go by.

I think we need an autopsy.

- Oh, god.

- Excuse me?

- Huh, oh, sorry.

- No, no, Louise.

Perhaps you have something to contribute.

Go ahead, describe what you saw.

- Let me just say that I think you guys

are blinded or something.

I saw the New York strand.

I did all the pretermination briefings myself in person.

This has nothing to do with them, okay, nothing.

- Three men were killed tonight.

- I know that.

I know that, Phil.

- Louise, uh describe what you saw physically.

- Well, um,

I don't think he's bland looking like Jake says.

An unformed humanoid.

I think he's very beautiful.

Exquisitely so.

I think he's actually perfect looking.

- I have to agree with Louise.

This is a very humanoid type

but exceptionally well formed.

In fact, handsome and I have to trust

my gut feeling on these matters.

I see no threats.

- No threat?

Three men were killed in two hours, no threat?

- Come on, this isn't New York.

- Okay, okay, guys, guys, Nan, please.

When did you and I have a question of termination ever,

specially when a subject is killed?

- Never.

- And?

- Well maybe it's time we started.

- What?

What?

- You're just jealous, Jake.

Come on, 'cause he's so hot.

I mean this thing or whatever man is gorgeous.

- Let me ask you something.

Do you have a boyfriend?

- That's none of your fucking business.

- Answer the question or I'll take away

your fucking badge right here and now.

- Yeah, asshole, I have a boyfriend.

But if that guy upstairs came up to me in a bar,

I'd leave with him in two seconds.

- Are you serious?

I mean.

You would really go to bed with him?

- I said that, didn't I?

- Can I yell now?

What the fuck is going on?

I'm no judge of beauty or anything.

I mean, everyone has something that you'd lust after them.

I mean I least I hope so, but what the fuck?

- Survival.

This is how it survives.

It's attractive to women, clouds theirjudgment.

- Exactly.

Nan, Louise, now you know what we're up against.

It has nothing to do with your abilities.

It has to do with the fact that you're women.

And what we're dealing with here is a being

that is wholly irresistible to women.

Listen, I know that sounds crazy, but,

there's no two ways about it.

I'm gonna have to remove you guys from the case.

- No way.

Mmm-mmm, no way.

First of all, if what you're saying is true,

and I'm not really sure that it is,

I can absolutely distinguish between some cheap

alien mind control and my own attractions.

So if you're telling me that I'm more affected

than usual, it's bullshit.

We're in danger everyday, that's part of this job.

- Louise, I'm sorry.

It's not open to debate.

Listen, take the file home and read it.

But right now I'm gonna have to ask you and Nan to leave.

- Fuck you and your file.

I'm gonna lodge a formal complaint against you.

- Jake?

- Wait, just hold on, wait a second, just hold on.

Is there any way they can serve in some capacity,

maybe as a team liaison?

- Thanks.

- Louise, wait.

Listen, there's no reason for you to go away angry.

Why don't you come by and have dinner

with Larry and I tonight and we can talk about this

and maybe you won't feel so slighted.

- Maybe.

- Okay-

- All right, now two guards killed here at the east gate.

Now to get out of the east gate

you need a voice ID to get on the road.

- Anyone leave in the last two hours?

- Not too many.

- Any women?

- Yeah two.

Dr. Irene Scott and Dr. Ellen Meyer.

It's me.

I was in a meeting tonight.

I was in a meeting tonight, okay.

Call me later.

And 5:30, you're not here so I'm leaving.

- What can I do for you?

- Sorry to bother you.

Can I ask you a few questions?

- Of course.

- Who is it?

- It's nothing, honey, I just have to answer

a few questions.

He worries about me all the time, you know.

So what's up, what can I do for you?

- Hello, son.

You want some coffee?

- Oh no, no thanks.

- You sure, it's good stuff.

- I just have to answer a few questions.

It's probably about those two guards

that were killed at work today.

Is that right?

- That's right.

Did you know them?

- Of course.

I've known them for years.

It's a terrible thing.

- Yeah it sure is.

Did you notice anything strange

when you came to the outer gate?

- No, nothing.

Should I have?

I'm not very observant, you know.

- Don't shortchange yourself, Irene.

Oh, hello, young man.

Did I leave the back door open?

- No.

No, I'm sorry, it's just procedure.

- No, don't be silly.

It's perfectly all right.

Do you want a cup of coffee?

- Um, no thank you.

- You know, I wouldn't mind a cup of coffee

if it's no trouble.

- Okay, we got a winner.

It's no trouble at all, young man.

I'll make enough for everyone.

- You wanna come outside?

Maybe we can talk outside.

What happened?

- Oh my god.

My god.

What have I done?

- Who did you see?

- You know, Murray and I have been together

for 25 years.

- 25 years, that's pretty good.

- What happened?

- I saw the two guards.

I slowed down as it went by.

The medic was there.

Somebody motioned me to go by.

I rolled down my window to give my voice ID.

And all of a sudden he was there.

He just appeared at my window.

- Did he say anything?

- He didn't have to.

I knew what was going on.

I had to be with him.

I supposed I opened the door for him,

I really don't remember.

My mind went blank.

All I could think of was

how I was gonna get this man into my car

and get away where no one could see us

and make love to him.

And that's exactly what happened.

I had sex with him in my car.

My goddamn car.

Like a teenager.

- Where did he go after that?

- He was just gone.

Into the woods by the side of the road.

I honestly don't know.

It was somewhere before the turnoff for route 15.

- We may need to ask you a few more questions.

Now this'll stay between us, okay?

Now you can call me if you think of anything else.

Okay?

- Thanks.

You're a nice guy.

- Okay-

Coffee for four.

What's wrong?

- There was that accident at Tanzer today, you know?

- Two guards were killed.

Gabe Esperanto and,

- Lemoyne.

Your wife knew them.

- It's terrible, it's terrible.

So many animals out there.

- Tell me the dirtiest joke you know.

- Okay-

This guy is fucking this girl from behind, right?

- Yeah, yeah, yeah.

- And he pulls out and starts to poke her

on her butt, right?

- Oh, yeah.

- And so she goes "what are you doing?"

and he goes "I thought I might fuck you up the ass."

And she says "Isn't that a little presumptious with you?"

And he goes "Isn't presumptious a rather big word

"for a nine year old?"

Oh my god.

I thought I saw something.

But I didn't.

- Well.

We should go.

I left the car in the middle of the street

and you need to hang the pifiata.

Um, I'm gonna go to the store.

- I'll go, I'll go to the store.

- Okay-

- In the woods, my senses were alive.

I knew where to go.

I could see a young couple, struggling.

Then my brain burned.

And I could see something else.

Something's here.

Someone.

H9)'-

- You find anything?

- No.

- Don't worry about it.

Come on, let's go.

- Couldn't get the last three numbers.

- Don't worry about it, I got it.

I wanna check that license plate.

Why don't you go home for a while, get some rest

and something to eat.

I'll pick you up in about an hour.

- And now a tune that never loses favor.

The ever popular "Stardust".

Raymond Richello and the Doors.

Ladies and gentlemen, following on the news

given in our bulletin a moment ago,

the government meteorological bureau

has requested the large observatories of the country

to keep an astronomical watch on any further disturbances

occurring on the planet Mars.

Due to the unreasonable nature

of this occurrence,

we have arranged an interview with the noted

astronomer Professor Pearson

who will give us his views on this event.

In a few moments we will take you

to the Princeton Observatory at Princeton New Jersey.

We return you until then

to the music of Ramon Richello and his orchestra.

- There you go, it's for you, for you.

Okay, be careful, happy Halloween.

- Thanks.

Coming.

- To the Princeton Observatory at Princeton.

And Carl Philips, our commentator will interview

Professor Richards Pearson, famous astronomer.

We take you now to Princeton, New Jersey.

- Good evening ladies and gentlemen.

Carl Philips speaking to you

from the observatory at Princeton.

We're standing in a large semicircular room,

pitch black instead for an oblong spread in the ceiling.

Through this opening I can see a sprinkle of stars

that cast a kind of cosmic glow

over the intricate mechanism of the huge telescope.

The clicking sounds you hear is the vibration

of the clockwork.

Professor Pearson stands directly above me

on a small platform peering through the giant lens.

I ask you to be patient, ladies and gentlemen

during any delay that may arise during our interview.

Besides his tedious watch of the heavens,

Professor Pearson may be interrupted by telephone

or other communications.

During this phase, he is in constant touch

with the astronomical centers of the world.

Professor, may I begin our questions?

- Anytime, Mr. Philips.

- Professor, would you please tell our radio audience

exactly what you see as you observe the planet Mars

through your telescope?

- Nothing unusual at the moment, Mr. Philips.

A red disc swimming in a blue sea.

Transvere stripes across the disc.

Quite distinct now because Mars happens to be

at the point nearest the earth.

In opposition, as we call it.

- In your opinion, what do these transverse stripes

signify, Professor Pearson?

- Oh, not canals, I assure you Mr. Philips.

Although that's a popular conjecture.

Those who imagine Mars to be inhabited.

From a scientific viewpoint,

the stripes are merely a result of atmospheric conditions

particular to the planet.

- Then you're quite convinced as a scientist

that living intelligence as we know it

does not exist on Mars?

- I think the chances against it

are a thousand to one.

- Now the smoke's spreading faster.

It's reached Times Square.

People are trying to run away from it

but it's no use.

They're pouring like flies.

Now the smoke's crossing sixth avenue.

Fifth avenue.

A hundred yards away.

Just a peach.

- Calling State Hill.

Direct to hell calling State Hill.

2X2L calling State Hill New York.

Is there anyone on the air?

Is there anyone on the air?

Isn't there anyone?

- Hey Trish?

Trisha.

Trisha!

Trisha, come here.

I wanna say something.

Look, I just finished setting all these guys up.

That guy's already gone.

But do you want to see them all turn on at once?

It's really cool.

Okay, watch.

' Rm going to get you!

- Now this one's really cool.

Pretty fancy, huh?

Trisha?

Trisha?

Trisha, look.

Cool, huh?

- I don't know if I was still sleeping.

But I found myself standing on the edge of the city.

I saw a shadow.

The vision I had earlier returned.

I knew that I was amongst the wreckage of the craft.

And I knew there was something else here.

Something struggling to survive.

Yeah?

- Hey, it's me.

Listen, I'm leaving right now.

I traced those plates so we can go up to this house.

You want me to bring you a sandwich or something?

- Uh, no, no.

- Okay, you all right?

- Yup, I'm fine.

- Jake?

I know you're there.

- Yeah, I'm here.

- Where were you?

- I was here.

- Then Why'd you wait so long to pick up, baby?

- I was taking a shower.

- Jake, I wanna sit down and talk with you.

- No, It's not a good time.

- Why not?

- I'm leaving in a minute.

- Don't push me away, Jake.

Alan and Larry were killed

and I thought you should know.

- They were?

- Less than an hour ago.

- I don't think it would be a good idea.

- Don't you wanna talk?

- This is a weird case.

And I don't think it would be ethical if we met.

- Ethical?

Oh Jake, it's not a word you use very much.

- No, it's not, is it?

You don't have to use words a lot

to use them once in a while.

- That's true.

- Do I sound weird to you?

How did they die?

- What are you really asking me?

- I sound like I always do, right?

- Yeah Jake, you do.

- I gotta go, Louise.

I gotta go, forgive me.

- Jake, I know you're there.

Pick up, baby.

Pick up.

- Hi.

- Hi.

I came up here this afternoon.

When I saw this, I didn't tell you about it.

I don't feel comfortable with anyone yet.

- What about Jake?

- What about Jake.

I took Jake home.

He's taking a nap, he wasn't feeling so good.

So, you grew up around here, huh?

- Yeah, I did.

- It's really nice, it's very beautiful.

- Yeah, I grew up right over, over there.

- It's pretty, it's nice.

Okay.

- Oh.

- That's not him, okay?

I think Jake came up here, got scared and killed it.

It's taken his form.

I know, maybe some kind of trick.

I don't know, it's too soon to tell.

" Okay, so?

- So I'm telling you because you're his friend.

You work with him.

He's acting weird.

Like he's tired all the time, he's depressed.

Frankly I don't think he's fit to do his job.

Look, is there something going on

between him and Louise?

- What does that have to do with anything?

- Well, he came up here alone today.

That's against the rules.

I figured him and Louise might be angry

with each other or something.

I don't know, I,

- You know what I think?

I think that you're overanalyzing everything.

I mean Jake, he came up here this afternoon.

He did his job, I mean look at this.

Why are you so worried about us?

Why don't you worry about yourself?

- 'Cause maybe you have a crush on Jake too.

- No.

- Look all I'm trying to say is

I don't really trust Jake.

Not like all you do.

I mean I know guys are all friends,

you work together.

When the time comes,

I just want you to back me up.

Watch my back, okay, please?

- How can you trust me?

What if I can't control myself like what happened before?

- It's not you I'm worried about.

It's Louise I'm worried about.

Look, I'm going by my instincts.

And my instincts usually serve me well.

Maybe it's not right.

I don't know, maybe you're too safe,

I don't know but I trust you.

Just watch my back, okay?

- Don't worry, okay?

I'm gonna do my job.

I'll watch your back.

Okay?

- Okay, everybody!

Over there on the patio, prepare for feats

of amazing prestidigitation, follow me.

- Good evening my dear friends.

Before we begin, I must remind you that this is more

than about a magic show on some pagan holiday

we know as Halloween.

This is about the joining of two people.

A beautiful union.

Carl and Trisha were just married.

So let's congratulate them, shall we?

Terrific.

Now, what I'm wondering is who amongst you knows

what it's like to be inhuman?

Hello Herman.

- Well hello yourself, Mr. K.

- And how are you today?

- Not bad for a guy who sleeps in a box.

- You don't like sleeping in a box?

- None of us dummies do.

- And why is that?

- Well, truth be told,

it's cold and dark and scary.

- Oh, it's cold and dark and scary?

Well I feel bad for you, Herman.

But you do understand that you're not human, don't you?

- Hah, that's what you think.

- Oh, you think that you are flesh and blood?

Well, tell me, how does this feel?

- Ow, I'm sorry.

- Now you seem to know your place.

You must sleep in a wooden box.

Now, just to make you feel a little better,

why don't we see how it would be like

to put a human being into a wooden box?

Now I will scan the crowd for a willing victim,

subject, excuse me.

And this young man over here has been watching me all night,

why don't you step up here, young man?

Let's give him a little hand, shall we?

What's your name, young man?

- Mark.

- Mark, where are you from, Mark?

- Bellflower.

- Beautiful city, beautiful city.

Mark, are you afraid right now?

- No, I feel good.

- Do you know the word mesmerized?

- Yes.

- You understand that word?

- Uh huh.

- I would like to keep everyone aware of the fact

that what's about to happen is real.

This man is about to be mesmerized.

Look at me, Mark.

Look at me, Mark.

Look at me.

Everyone, Mark is now mesmerized.

Mesmerized is a terrifying word.

He can do anything we want him to now.

Let's not take advantage.

Do not be afraid.

Do not panic.

We are responsible for this person's life.

Only we can bring him out of this state he's in.

He is going to see what it is like

to sleep in a box.

- I know this place!

- What?

- He's in here.

- Wait a sec, hey!

You wanna tell me what's going on?

- No, sorry.

- Jake, you okay?

- Yeah, I'm fine.

We've gotta search this place.

- You sure?

- I know this place, I know it!

I know there's something.

What's wrong with me?

What's wrong with me?

There's something wrong.

- Listen Jake, I know we don't know each other very well.

But if you've got some personal problems,

you can talk to me, yeah?

Let's go check out this loser party.

I wanna see this trick.

I wanna see this asshole get buried.

So?

- We need to search this place.

- Okay.

- Shit!

Hi Jake, it's just me.

He's scared.

He wouldn't harm anybody.

Don't worry, he wouldn't , he wouldn't.

- Get out of the way, Nan.

- Get out of the way, Nan.

- Get out of the way, Nan.

- Get out of the way, Nan.

- Move out of the door.

- Jake!

- Nan, get out of the way.

- Don't, he's just a baby, he's just a baby.

Jake,Jake.

Jake.

Don't let him do this!

He doesn't deserve to die.

- It's okay.

It's all right.

Just come here.

- Come here, Nan.

Come on.

- It's all right.

- It's fine.

It's okay.

- You okay?

It's okay.

You are so fucking soft, you know that?

You're soft and weak, just like she was.

Just do your fucking job and be a man!

You know I've had my doubts about you.

You know, you're either an alien or a faggot.

Or both, I don't know.

- Don't fucking threaten me.

- Then do your fucking job.

- I finally understood.

And I hated myself for it.

- Don't do it, Jake.

-I changed,huh.

I'm not me anymore.

- You're one of them, aren't you?

You're one of them.

- I changed.

- Please, I know you both were soft

but I didn't think you were this pathetic.

- Are we, Phil?

Are we?

- Stop it Louise, he's right.

I'm not me, I've changed.

Something happened to me in Malibu.

There's no point in blaming Phil.

It was me that was there.

I wasn't looking at an alien.

I was the alien.

And I was looking at myself.

I know you love me, Louise.

And that's why you'll kill me.

You can't let me live like this.

You can't let me live like this.

You can't let me live like this.

- Jake, shut up.

- You can't.

- Shut up, Jake!

I know what happened in Malibu.

You did have backup.

They sent the new guy in.

He got there after you left, didn't you Phil?

You killed Larry and Alan.

Now you're trying to destroy Jake.

What did you say before, Phil?

My mind was clouded?

It almost worked.

- I tried.

- Yeah, you sure did.

- Why?

- Because I could.

Because I needed to to survive.

- What's sad is that you never protected

anyone but yourself.

I guess that's the law of the universe, huh pal?

You make me sick.

It's gonna feel good to kill you.

- Oh, Louise, I can feel your finger.

I could feel your finger against the trigger.

You can't hurt me.

You don't wanna hurt me.

Louise, listen to me.

I can feel your finger on the trigger, Louise.

You don't wanna shoot me.

You don't wanna shoot me.

I just wanna live, I deserve to live.

I deserve to live.

I deserve to live, don't I?

- I can't let you do it.

- Yeah you can.

Things are changing around here, Jake.

It's time to get a new job.

- Not me.

This is all I can do.

- I'd hate to think that this is the only thing

that can make you happy.

Whatever gets you through the day, right?

- Yeah.

I guess so.

- Thanks.
