it's a State Department report,

And he says: "Duran takes Oswald

but the Thomas memo puts her
at a party with Oswald,

which tells me she's a liar.

For me,
my intelligence background,

Duran arranging
and taking Oswald

to a meeting outside
of the consulate,

puts the relationship
on a whole new level.

is a declassified memo,

written by American
diplomat Charles Thomas.

On Christmas Day 1965,
Thomas writes to the CIA

that he's learned
Lee Harvey Oswald

attended a party
with Silvia Duran

in Mexico City,
eight weeks before

the assassination
of President Kennedy.

When the memo was ignored,
Thomas forwards it

to Secretary of State,
William P. Rogers.

Six days later,
Charles Thomas is forced

into retirement and silenced.

- This is explosive.

If, in fact, Oswald did go
to a party with Duran,

who else saw him?

Look right here,

there were other people
at the party.

- You know, someone there
has got to be alive still.

- We need to get somebody to
corroborate the Thomas Report.

We've got to have something
in the files.

The narrative is that
he came here,

he met the Mexican employee

of the Cuban Consulate,
Silvia Duran.

is was there contact outside
of the Cuban Embassy?

Which is of high significance,

and that's why we've come
to you as an eyewitness,

and I would like to hear what--
what you recall from this.

The fiesta was in the house
of one of my uncles.

swears that she only met

Oswald once in the consulate.
Why do you think she's lying?

- No, she doesn't want to talk.

- Yeah, so why not
tell the truth?

- There was Silvia Duran
with Oswald at this party.

I mean,
were there any Cubans there?

Were there any--

- Wait, the Cuban Consul
was at a party.

And they're with Oswald,

and all these years
no American official

has asked you what you saw?

- And you're doing it
because you want the truth out?

he was incredible.

He was a credible witness,
I believed the guy.

There was a relationship
between Duran and Oswald

that went beyond the Consulate.

She somehow brings him
to a party.

At that party there is
a Cuban Intelligence officer.

According to
Francisco Garro's testimony,

Oswald had a relationship
with Cuban officials

that went beyond the embassy.

The question
you have to ask yourself is,

what was the nature
of that relationship?

And more importantly,

were the Cubans part
of Oswald's plan

to assassinate
President Kennedy?

We have to dig deeper
about Oswald's connections

with the Cubans.
I mean, what else do we have?

- Commission Document 1359.

FBI Letter from Director,
17 June 1964.

This is an FBI source,
talking to Fidel Castro,

hearing from Castro himself

and Fidel Castro says
that Oswald stormed

into the embassy,
demanded the visa,

and when it was refused to him,
headed out saying,

"I'm going to kill Kennedy
for this."

- Holy [bleep]!
- This is incredible.

This is a motivation
for killing Kennedy.

"I'm going to kill Kennedy
for this."

- This declassified
FBI document

reveals new insight
into Oswald's potential motive

for murdering
President Kennedy.

- We have Fidel Castro himself
explaining Oswald's motives.

Oswald said,
"I'll kill Kennedy for this."

I believe this is the fact
that Oswald can't get a visa

to go to Cuba
because of Kennedy.

He blames Kennedy
for his stance against Cuba,

and wants him dead
because of it.

This memo is signed by
J. Edgar Hoover.

Hoover is saying,
"I believe this."

This is explosive.

I've been entrenched
in this case for decades,

and I know better
than to jump to conclusions,

but this document corroborates

everything we've learned
so far.

Oswald had a relationship
with the Cubans.

There's no doubt in my mind.

What we need to do now
is find out

where that relationship began.

My suspicion is that
it pre-dates his trip

to Mexico City.

Mexico City
was the main station.

Cuban Intelligence running
operations in the United States,

so, how would Oswald know
to get in touch

with Cuban Intelligence?

How would he know
to go to Mexico City?

- We need to back up
a little bit,

we need to start
tracking Oswald.

Find out,
where did this all begin?

I'm just gonna look
at his point of entry

into Mexico City.

tourist card

when he was living
in New Orleans.

Other than Miami,
New Orleans has the largest

Cuban population
in the country.

that Oswald threatened to kill

My hunch is that
Oswald's first contact

with Cuban intelligence,
didn't start there,

it started right here
in New Orleans.

- In 1959, Fidel Castro leads
a revolution in Cuba,

establishing
the first communist government

in the western hemisphere.

Almost immediately,
the Soviet Union

takes advantage
of Cuba's strategic location,

stockpiling nuclear weapons
on the island,

pointed directly
at the United States,

starting
the Cuban Missile Crisis.

- I have directed
the armed forces

to prepare for any eventuality.

- The American people
prepare for the worst

and Cubans flee
their homeland in mass,

seeking political asylum
in the United States.

Overnight, both Miami
and New Orleans become hotbeds

for Cuban exiles
and political demonstration.

In 1963 Lee Harvey Oswald

is right in the middle
of it all.

- What interests me is,
what were the inner sections

of Oswald here,
and what precisely

was he doing in those years
with the Cubans?

- When Oswald died,
his actual motivation

was really probably
buried with him.

And there's no way
we can directly assess it,

but we can do it through
what we call

an Indirect
Personality Assessment.

Looking at the various factors
in his life,

and what was happening here.

- We gotta get out there
and reconstruct his world.

- In the wake
of the assassination,

the Warren Commission
chronicled

Oswald's movements
in New Orleans.

The team sets out
to investigate

two epicenters of activity:

the uptown neighborhood
where he lived,

and the area surrounding
the Reily Food Company,

where he worked
in the machine shop.

- Oswald's time in New Orleans
was his most public.

If his relationship
with the Cubans started here

in New Orleans, there would be
some evidence of it.

- Reily's.
- And it's right there, 640.

- Yeah.

- He lived that way.
- 20 minutes by car?

- He didn't have a car.

The fact that Lee Harvey Oswald
worked at Reily's

in itself isn't suspicious,
but when you look at how far

he had to travel every day
to do a job he could have done

much closer to his own home,

that creates a level
of suspicion.

The end of the day
his motivations are obscure.

Maybe there was
something else here.

- Well, if you take a look
at this from an environmental,

criminological perspective,
often what we look for

is something that's called
an anchor point,

or an anchor spot.

That's where they really
operate out of.

There are other things
in the vicinity

of the anchor spot that are
critical to the conspiracy,

or critical to the crime.

He's not traveling
to this location for work,

work is his front,
it's his cover.

- In the espionage business,
we call this cover for action.

You give the asset
a reason to be somewhere

day after day,
but to hide their purpose.

If Reily's was a cover job
the question for me is,

what was he really doing there?

There's got to be something else
in this neighborhood,

something in the databases.

establishment adjacent

to the Reily Company known as
Alba's Crescent City Garage."

- So he was disappearing
from work

and going to a garage.

Who works at a market
and spends his time

in an adjacent garage?
I mean, what's over there?

- I think it's worth
checking out.

- Lee Harvey Oswald
would regularly

go to this garage
in 1963.

We just wanna know kinda
what's the word on the street?

So what do we have on this?

- This comes from the HSCA,

the report from the House Select
Committee on Assassinations.

That is in 1963
the Secret Service

has signed out
two vehicles from here.

- This garage was
some sort of motor pool

for the government.
What was he doing over here?

It makes no sense at all.
It's not his world.

And the fact that
the United States government,

it's got its fingerprints
all over this place.

This is something we've got
to pursue.

This could be
a big piece of the puzzle.

If Oswald was
hanging around a garage

that housed
undercover government vehicles,

that's no coincidence.

We came to New Orleans
looking for a connection

between Oswald and the Cubans,

but what we found
is potentially a connection

between Oswald and a
secret government operation.

A declassified FBI file reveals
that Oswald visited

Henry's in 1963
after a street fight

with known anti-Castro activist
named Carlos Bringuier.

In August of '63,
Oswald approached Bringuier

and offered to help train
Cuban exiles

in the fight against
Fidel Castro.

Oswald hands over
his marine handbook

as proof of the experience
he could lend the cause.

Bringuier rejects the offer.

Four days later,
Lee Harvey Oswald reemerges,

this time handing out
pro-Castro leaflets

calling for support of
the Castro regime.

Bringuier confronts Oswald
with his apparent

change of allegiance,
and a brawl ensues.

New Orleans police book Oswald
for disturbing the peace.

After his release, Oswald heads
straight for Henry's bar.

- So, after this was all over
and after November happened,

did you--later in the years,
did you and your Dad

ever talk about that
a little bit? Did you guys--

- The day after
the assassination,

two Cubans showed up and
professed Oswald's innocence.

A declassified FBI document
confirms that account.

It's great information.
I really appreciate that.

What I find curious is that,
it's never followed up on.

We never found out
what the identity was

of those two Cubans.

Nor do we find out
what the relationship was

that they had with Oswald.

After Oswald is arrested
for the assassination.

Man and woman--both Cuban,
just show up

and they're screaming and
yelling that Oswald's innocent,

that he's being framed.

His associations
with the Cubans is evident.

I want to know why these Cubans
are voicing support for him.

- Oswald is working
at Reily Foods.

Right next door is a garage.

That's where we come up
with these reports

that Federal vehicles were
being parked at that garage.

- Very suspicious to me.
- Yeah, I know I agree with you.

If it's true that Oswald's
set up at Reily's right next to

a government garage,
it really makes me suspicious

what Oswald was up to.

Okay, lets run a search.

Alba, Oswald, FBI.

here's a declassified document.

"Adrian Alba
testified before the committee.

"One day, an FBI Agent entered
his garage and requested to use

"one of the Secret Service
cars--a dark green Studebaker.

"The next day,
Alba observed the FBI Agent

"in the car handing
a white envelope to Oswald

"in front of
the Reily Coffee Company.

There was no
exchange of words."

What is that about?

- We came here to New Orleans

looking for a Cuban connection,

and now what we've found

is a connection
to the federal government.

It's a bit of a curveball,

but we need to find
the context for this.

I mean,
his actions are not random.

What does
all of this add up to?

This is what
the Warren Commission didn't do.

dig into the documents

to construct a chronology of
Oswald's time in New Orleans,

searching for evidence
the Warren Commission missed

or ignored.

"Oswald left for New Orleans
on April 24th 1963."

- 4/24 he goes to New Orleans.

That's the start here.

"May 9th Oswald completed
an application for employment

"at William B. Reily Company
at 640 Magazine street.

"On June 24th 1963 Oswald
applied for a U.S. passport

"at the passport office
in New Orleans, Louisiana.

"On July 19th Oswald
was dismissed by Reily

"because of inefficiency
and inattention to his work.

"On August 5th
he visited a store managed

"by Carlos Bringuier,
he told Bringuier that

"he had been a marine and was
trained in guerilla warfare,

"and that he was willing not
only to train Cubans to fight,

"but also
to join the fight himself.

"Oswald was arrested
on August 9th in connection

"with a scuffle,
which occurred while he was

"distributing
pro-Castro leaflets.

"And on August 21st
he debated over radio station

WDSU New Orleans"...

- I would very definitely say
that I am a Marxist.

That is correct,
but that does not mean however,

that, uh,
I uh am a communist.

- It's interesting
that he debated

Carlos Bringuier,
same guy he scuffled with

and was arrested
for an interaction with.

- It's just bizarre.
- "On September 17th he obtained

"from the Mexican Consulate
General

"in New Orleans a tourist card.

"Oswald departed from
New Orleans on September 25th

and arrived in Mexico City
on September 27th."

That's gonna be our end point.

When you're setting up
a covert supply point,

you need a way to get arms,

you can move anything

without ever leaving a trace.

next to this facility,

weapons could easily be shipped
upriver undetected.

The question is:
were they headed

to Lee Harvey Oswald

as what you would use for

Lee Harvey Oswald.

Bob and former police
lieutenant Adam Bercovici

have discovered a CIA operation
code name JMMOVE,

possibly connected to Oswald
during his time in New Orleans.

- For me, the Cuban connection,
the CIA, Oswald's dark period,

they all come together
in JMMOVE.

JMMOVE is centered around
a huge ammunition depot.

You look at
Marty's drone pictures,

you've got security,

you've got bunkers
to store the stuff,

you got
the Mississippi River,

and it's the perfect site.

- What kind of operation
would that be in support of?

- My hunch is; that facility
was a storage facility

in support of some training
activity here in Louisiana.

And I think whatever
that training was

we're gonna find
a connection with Oswald.

After visiting that place,
what's clear it was strictly

a place to store ammo
and explosives.

There was no evidence of actual
training taking place there.

The question now becomes,
where was all that ammo

and explosives going?

Where was
the training facility?

My guess, we'll find evidence
of training ground

someplace upriver.

Let's put in Oswald,
training, Louisiana, CIA.

That's follow up investigation
to JFK

to the Warren Commission,
in the '70s.

- "We had information
of Oswald being involved

"in Louisiana
with various individuals,

"who were contracted employees
of the CIA.

"We came across
a film of these Cubans

"and these soldier
of fortune types

in a military training setting.

- I mean, this guy's
very credible.

He's telling us
in an official testimony,

there's a film
of Cubans training in Louisiana.

Where is this film?

Look at that.

- Disappeared?
- Yep.

And when stuff disappears
that means people

want to hide [bleep].
- None of this surprises me.

When I was in the CIA in 1976,
I asked for a file,

it was black tape, related
to Kennedy assassination,

and it disappeared.

People at archives
had no idea.

- As the saying goes,
there's no "lost" file

there's just missing files.
- Yeah, exactly.

It looks like he was dealing
with these people

that were being trained
in the bayou.

The more we get into this,
the more this guy

does not look like a lone wolf.

There's overwhelming evidence
to assume he had accomplices.

The whole reason we came
to New Orleans

was to connect Oswald
to the Cubans

and this film
would have shown that.

Without the film we have
to take the next best thing

and that's get out in the bayou.

If we can find proof
of this training grounds,

we're gonna be one step closer
to finding out

if Oswald had accomplices
in the murder of JFK.

down there that looks

out of the ordinary,

People were out here training.

- How could they miss this?

Oswald is going out of his way
to meet Cuban exiles.

All of those Cuban exiles

are being run out of Miami.

- There are security cameras
all over this place.

- Oswald was involved
with people committing acts

that are either secret
or illegal.

Doesn't remind me
of a lone wolf;

it reminds me of a wolf pack.

- Sometimes you can be eaten

by your own monster
that you created.

- This is closer than anybody's
ever been solving this case.

This is the smoking gun
the world has been waiting for.
