It was like, oh, my God.

It was shocking in the moment
for me, obviously,

'cause there was a lot of energy
coming at me and a lot

of sadness and

- But I never felt like she was

personally attacking me.
When I took a couple breaths,

it felt like something else
was going on.

- Erika, I was taken aback
by how emotional

you got in that moment. - Yeah.

- I didn't wanna...

I don't like to break down
like that, you know,

I really did, and that is

something that could possibly
happen, and something that,

I just texted my boy
right before we had dinner,

and he was attending
the funeral of a police officer

who was murdered. - Oh.

- So when you said that...

- I was like, "Mmgh."
- Yeah, it was a perfect storm.

- It looked pretty awkward
between you and Eileen

the next day in Hong Kong.
- I felt terrible.

- Well, why didn't you
talk to Eileen right away?

- I don't know, but I f...

terrible about it,
and I'll apologize again.

- Actually, what never aired
is that, the next day,

she offered me her fabulous
glam squad for the dinner

that we were having
together that night.

All of a sudden, it was like

someone took over Erika's body.

- It was even... it was like a
different voice even came out.

- I just felt bad for Eileen

because she was like,
"What have I done?"

- She was just trying.
- We all felt bad for Eileen.

- I just sat there
just going, "Wow."

- It was, yeah, the kind of
reaction didn't, you know,

fit the crime.
- I mean, not my finest moment

for sure.
- Erika, you told the ladies

that you purposefully don't
discuss your son with them.

- Yeah.
- Why?

- Because he prefers it
that way.

He... he needs to remain
in his private space.

- It's about safety.
I mean, if he wasn't

a police officer, maybe it would
be different, but I completely

understand the situation and
wanting to protect your child.

- I'm interested
in your own experience

as the mom of a police officer.

Talk to me about the emotion
that you carry around

with you all day.
- Well, it's not just me.

I think that anyone whose son,
daughter, or husband/wife

that's in law enforcement,
you know, you worry.

You know that
anything is possible.

That is my greatest fear.
I don't want to overstate it

and make it more dramatic
than it should be.

And this child has wanted
to be a police officer

since the time
he could walk and talk.

I knew this was his life path.
I mean, that's just

the way it is, and I'm very
proud of him, but it is scary

at nighttime; that's why,
you know, I'm happy

he lives with me 'cause,
you know, I hear him pull up,

I'm like, "Whew," you know?
It's a little...

It's a little weight off my...
- He lives with you?

- Yeah, it's a little
weight off my shoulders.

- What does he think
of the show?

- He's proud of his mom,
you know?

He says he doesn't watch,
but somehow or another

he tends to know...
- Oh, my God.

- He tends to know
what's going on, right?

- I love that.

- So... but, yeah, you know,

and he gets it at work,
you know?

They know his mom's on the show.

- Erika, Julie from Memphis
wants to know,

"Do you not wanna show emotion,
or is it just hard for

you to show it?"
There is a difference.

- I know, I'm just
very sensitive, and I choose

to reveal myself slowly.
So it's not that

I don't want to.
It's just a slower process

for me, yeah.

- I never got that, by the way.

I don't know what it was.
I have no idea.

I just... I never felt
that she was cold.

- I never did either.
- But I think that sometimes

you connect with people,
certain people, like

Kyle and I connect, you know?
And, you know, and you connect

with certain personalities
a little bit quicker.

- And I think when
you are so sensitive,

you're extra guarded because...
- That's what I think.

- You're so scared
of what's gonna come out.

Edina, Minnesota, said,
"It was very touching

when your mom said that
she was hard on you"...

- Yes.

- It did, and I was so happy
because it really did validate

how I felt as a child,
and I was wondering, you know,

am I being kind of, like,
a brat or hard on my... you know,

like a baby, but no, I wasn't.
In fact, she was very critical,

very hard, but I think she was
trying to toughen me up

and raise me the best way
she knew how.

- When you were little,
when you wanted to audition

for something, I had you
make the phone call.

- Yes, you did, yes.
- Do you remember?

When you got a part, you spoke
with the people on the phone,

and back when $25 was a lot,
I would let you go

into the store
and cash the check and come out

so you knew
how to talk to people.

- Yeah, you did, for sure.
- Yeah, it was hard on you.

did you go to the reverse,

so, you know, when you
raised your son,

did you kind of change that?
- Well, no...

- Because I know, like,
my parents never told me

they loved me, so I went
the complete opposite.

- Was your mom tough on you?

Like, they're more removed

emotionally, and it's a funny
thing, because when Kyle says,

"Oh, you're so reserved.
You're so British,"

often my family say,
"Oh, you're so American now.

You're so kind of open.

and told me she loved me,
but she wanted me to grow up

faster that I really did...

in some adult situations

that I really couldn't navigate,

my son still gets

hugs and kisses,
and I think he hates it

every minute, so, yeah.

three full-time housekeepers,

- Well, you have to understand
my husband and I travel

a lot for work or I have
events in the evening,

when the nannies are there,

if I'm present,
they're not necessarily...

It's not like
I'm not choosing to

spend the time with my children.

- I did not... I've never had
a nanny, but I also think

it's different when...
I had my baby at 19,

and I just kind of got
thrown into that,

and all of a sudden I was a mom,
and that's just what I did,

you know, every single second.

I think it's also
very different, you know,

when you have your kids later,
and they're working,

so I don't judge and know
what works for everybody.

Is there a short answer?

- I started richer.

I started in business in '95,
and I spent the first 25 years

in my career in real estate.

Were you sticking your nose

Certainly, if I look back now,
