war against Bolshevik brutality,

The crowd claps feverishly for the

August 11th.
The hate against Jews is wild.

After the executions in Laşi,

"I don't know how I survived."

"I ate beetroots and potato skins."

Now beetroot soup or
potato stew sicken me.

What scares me is how she hates
Christians, whom she hates vividly.

A friend was visiting my daughter.

She saw him enter
and ran to us, screaming:

- "There's a Christian here!
Make him go away!"

- "She's not Christian, dear"
- "But he speaks Romanian!"

She refuses to speak it.

She learned Yiddish specifically
to avoid using Romanian.

The patriarch Nicodim wrote
to London's archbishop

begging for the bombing to stop.

The Transnistrian shouted:

If someone interviewed
the Romanian people -

most of the leaders with
prejudice and the middle class -

our current situation
would seem painful.

Many say:

"Why do Jews go to the Popular
Jury, for political revenge?"

"The wheel could turn some day."

The answer is that they're
criminally wrong.

Our pact with the Allies includes
punishment for war criminals.

The Popular Jury was
not even founded by Jews..

Many Jews are witnesses

because they were subject of
Romanian cruelty in Transnistria.

Others aren't convinced, false
smiles cover the damaged dignity.

The Popular Jury continues its work.

But there is little interest
for the first trial.

It's like a vacation reunion.

The newspapers report superficial
acts, boring announcements.

Almost no one read them.

Still, they are still judging more
beasts as bad as the first lot.

Many people are still
unidentified or missing.

Many criminals will remain in state
jobs, in the army, everywhere.

What happened to general Georgescu,
who in '42 told his hairdresser:

"I killed so many Jews, for my
heart's happiness and beyond!"

The population of Bucharest applauded
the return of our delegates in Moscow

after the negotiations with
excellent results for us.

A crowd gathered on the
airport to receive them

and to express gratitude to
our great neighbor the Soviet Union.

In the landing, the enthusiastic
crowd broke the cordon.

The people greeted the Generalissimo
Stalin and our government

and the eternal
Romanian-Soviet friendship.

"I hope the wind carries our
voice throughout the country,

so that you may know that we come
from the home of our great neighbor,

the Soviet Union!"

The people chant:
"¡Sta-Lin! Sta-Lin!"

"We students support
the working class!"

"U-S-S-R!"

Titel Petrescu, the
ridiculous politician, said:

"We have never had
religious intolerance."

"There was antisemitism, but because
the Jews tried to control commerce

entering in conflict
with the Romanians."

Is it possible for a Marxist to
still claim something so absurd?

His theory will certainly
be spread and exploited.

Soon, we will surely hear that the
Jews have taken over democracy

which would justify
the new antisemitism.

Sadly, there is no way to react,
no place in which to write.

silence and swallowing it together.

The two Antonescus, Piki Vasiliu
and Alexianu have been executed.

The other three that were
also sentenced to death

have now been changed
for forced labor for life.

I think this ends with the biggest
sentences for war criminals.

"It's too late, the Romanians
are very kind, et cetera."

Some more will be convicted, in
the middle of common indifference.

Then elections will come.

And we will continue rebuilding the
country and re-educating its people...
