What are you doing ?

Rascal, that is an impossible wall of deterrent

That's right, it is an impossible place to enter

You should give up on that idea

On this earth there's no such place that couldn't be burglarize

Because I am Iljimae

Step aside, step aside

Who is it?

I am a ice merchant

If I don't go quickly it will be melting

Stay out of the way

Who is it?

I have brought the ice for the feast

I have received the order to fill up the ice in the ice cave

Tonight there's a restriction on the incoming and outgoing

You should wait until the morning

Until morning?

It is not going to work

All else would be okay, but the ice block will melt into water

Really...

I was in a hurry to pick up the ice...

Yes sir

But is there something going on ?

It is an emergency situation; Iljimae will be robbing this place tonight

Why is this ice block red looking ?

That Bokbunja wine has been frozen the entire winter on the bank of Daedong river

It is a special frozen wine to welcome the Thanh's ambassadors during the feast for tomorrow

It is really a special wine

There's nothing else, sir

Let's him in

Thanks for your troubles

Is everything okay?

Yes sir

We are being on guard, even a mouse couldn't have passed by unnoticed

Step up!

What is going on?

Quickly secured this place, light the fire

Everyone! Light the fire

Chase after him! I am certain he hasn't escape yet

Yes sir

Over here

It is lot of work for you

Iljimae, your life will end here

A noteworthy Iljimae like that, I wonder what type of person is he?

Let's me see your face

Soldier

Yes sir

That person...He is Iljimae

Go ahead and take a look

On this earth there's truly nothing that couldn't be robbed

Because I am Iljimae

Go ahead and seize Iljimae

Seize him

Geom ah! There are many types of pretty flowers

But why do you only like titi flower?

Because it looks like cherry blossoms, but not as glamorous like cherry blossoms

It looks like Jasmine, but not as pitiful like jasmine

That's why I like it

It is representing the righteous mankind

And because of that in my eyes, titi are the prettiest of all flowers

Is it true that you have seen that ?

Yes sir, it has a very bright red color and an expensive look to it

How could you have seen it?

Shortly after I was born, I have lost my visions due to an illness

But after that I got another pair of eyes

I could see those things that other people can't see

I could really see them

The heartiness of a hot soup stew that the villager needed

He saw the things that shouldn't be seen

And because of that, I have heard of things that should haven't been heard

Who else know about this?

I...

Won't tell anyone else about this

You should go out for a stroll if there's something bothering you

Within the next few days I would like to go to Hanyang

Sir Shim Ji Won wished to see me

Father! Please look at this drawing

Geom, is this your drawing?

Yes sir

You are amazing

Dear, is it my imagination or our son drew better than me?

My darling Geom, I will reward you

What would you like, how about your favorite beef jerky?

What would you like?

Mother, please allow me to accompanying father to Hanyang

That is not an impossible wish, okay

Father, look at the birds

The birds are returning home, I guess the Spring is coming

Shoot!

We couldn't find the blind mans wife

I think maybe she knew and ran off already

Let's go

You should stop crying

Go ahead and run toward that direction, remember keep on running ahead and don't turn back

Mother!

Don't tell anyone that your father is the blind fortune teller

Understand?

Mother!

You are the oldest brother

You should take good care of Bong Soon

Mother!

Run

Have you heard?

I have heard loud and clear, you guys are ruthless

To silence us, you have done the un-imaginable...

I am hungry, please give me some money

So stinky!

I don't have any money, stay away from me

Are you okay Bong Soon?

Hey, is being a rich guy all that wonderful?

I am sorry. I didn't mean to shove that little girl

This lowly fella!

Why don't the two of you scram?

You dare to be insolent to my young master, impoverish kids...

Young master, are you okay?

I am fine

Let's go Geom

Yes father

You are a fine seamstress

Ah, the Robbery Department Officer's wife is asking for you

It seems that she is very happy with your sewing talent

Really?

Ja Dol

You should stay here and play for a while

I have to visit the Robbery Department

Yes mother

What are you doing?

Insolent!

Him?

Young master know him?

His father has been in jail a few times, and he is a well-known thief

I heard that his mother's a runaway handmaiden...

Truly a bunch of trash

He left just like that when he ran into me?

His character is very antagonistic

There are many people who would like to teach him a lesson

We should let him know how dirty the blood in his vein is

Thief, thief

There's a thief

There's a thief over there

There is a thief

Young master, what's the matter?

There's someone being a thief

My lord, are you missing anything sir?

Oh...yes

Has young master by any chance seen the face of the thief?

I saw it

Young master saw his face?

What does he looks like?

I am not a thief

I really don't know what's going on

This is yours, my lord

I heard that his father is also a thief

It is really hopeless when talking about this bad blood

No, my father is not a bandit

Great job everyone

Oh my god!

Is this not the Woo-wang-jeong-sin-hwan (wine) made by England?

What's the matter with you?

There's a tip off that the fake Woo-wang-jeong-sin-hwan (wines) are being smuggling into our country

Let's investigate this further

We are not doing that

If you wish for an inspection, then go ahead and get on with it

Really ?

I heard that all smuggling items are hidden in the bottom of the boat

Then you should lift it up and see for yourself

Hurry up and open that box for me

Quickly

What is in this white box?

It is white powder sugar

Sugar?

It is kind of sweet and will melt in your mouth

The aristocrats really like this stuffs

They eat this all day

You are pretty chatty, eh ?

Open that box, and quickly bring the tools over here

Look at them! They are all government authorized merchandises

Quickly!

We are about to be rich

How much money would each of these fetch?

Wait, we have to bring this home for Ja Dol to eat

Where are all these soldiers come from?

Hey this is yours, open it for yourself

My lord, there were someone else inspected us earlier

Why do you come again?

What are you talking about?

The other person...

That person

The thief

The cursed thief

Where has he gone off to?

Has he gone to heaven?

My father is really not a bandit!

Don't waste my time, hurry up and follow me!

Are you still here?

Ja Dol, something's wrong

What happened?

It is not me

Wait

What is going on, young master?

Let's me see his hand?

Pardon me?

Young master, why would you want to see his hand?

Just look at this

There are some white powders, what are they?

I don't know

Taste it

It has a sweet aftertaste

This is the white powder that's on the persimmon pastry

When people sun-dried the persimmon, the sugar has melted

and then dried into the white coating

That is why it is sweet, right ?

Father, please let's me see your hands!

Look, on my father's hand, there's no such white powder

On his hand too, no white powder

My father's hands as well!

Then why is there white powder residue on this rope?

That's the question!

The young master should show us your hands!

Pardon me?

Eh Geom, how could you...

Oh, don't worry

Earlier I saw the young master eaten a persimmon pastry

You guys should let go of that blameless kid

Yes, my lord

Young master, thank you so much

Could I ask what is young master's name...

My name is Geom

Lee Geom

And your name, my lord?

Mine?

My name is Lee Won Ho

I definitely will repay your kindness later on

Don't mention it

You should grow into a righteous young man

That is all I ask

Is it right, Geom?

Yes, father.

No, that is not right, this kindness

I will definitely repay you

Ja Dol!

Mother!

What's happened? Are you okay?

It is that lord and the young master that has rescued me

Is he your son?

Let's go, Ja Dol

Mother, what's wrong?

It's nothing. I am having a bit of a headache

Are you still eating?

Yes sir, it is really tasty

You are a great kid. I thought you are not used to these foods

But you could still eat all these foods

My lord!

Why did you protect those small time thieves?

Did you just come here because you still mad about that?

It is those people such as you, my lord, that mess up the class system

Class system?

Young master!

The aristocrats have to act like aristocrats, so you could live up to being an aristocrat

then you could be a young master

My lord's young son has made me lose face in front of that good for nothing guy

This boy!

There is no logical reason

You have done a bad thing and still not feeling ashamed of yourself yet?

What do you mean a child?

Were you under the impression that all aristocrats are created equal?

Do you know who I am?

I am Lord Byun Shik's son, the judge of Han Sung

What? Byun Shik?

Okay, then young master should return home and tell your father

That young master have met Lee Won Ho

Okay, I will relay your message, you just wait

Geom!

Geom has grown this much already?

I met him when he as a newborn

So it has been 8 years since the last time we met

That's correct, my lord is really too much

Live anonymously, do you feel that much freedom?

Being a free agent has its own enjoyments

That's right, in the current political climate

I really admire the anonymous way that you are living

Because the political road is a tough journey

On the way here, I have seen that the people are restless

The uprising in the year Ding Noan has long past

But I didn't anticipate that the wound is this deep

We only focused on gaining the Myung's favor so the government became like this

In my opinion, Gwang Hae has been very successful in being the ambassador between the Myung and Ho Kim

My lord should be careful in expressing your opinion

Anyhow, I am very worried about his Majesty

That is why I am searching for you to negotiate

What is wrong?

Ever since Lee Shik became a traitor

Every year since there has been traitors uprising against his Majesty

That's right

Everything is boiled down to greed and power.

Precisely!

Anyhow to compensate for the void in the people's heart

His Majesty always allow those people such as Byun Shik, Lee Jung Jun besides him

His Majesty is an earnestly honest individual

If continued to be controlling by those dishonest individuals, I fear that his Majesty will messes up our true course

Byun Shik!

Park Se !

Didn't I tell you that you had to understand your master.

If your master wants you to turn right, you have to turn right.

If he wants you to turn left, you have to turn left.

You must forecast and be prepared for it.

Father!

My son.

Hold on! What's wrong with your face?

Why are you injured? Who punched my precious son's face?

Lee Won Ho's son.

I must teach him a lesson.

Lee Won Ho?

This one can become a decorative accessory, thus it's not too bad.

This is.........let me look at it.

Amber?

Master, their sons are in here.

This is very precious.

It can becomes a beautiful jewelry.

Oh, it hurts. Can you please sit down, master?

The roof has not collapsed yet.

I have no time to sit down. My head is about to explode.

Who is that Lee Won Ho guy that can make you feeling so agitated?

I think he is just a poet laureate.

You're a dummy. If you don't understand it then just shut your mouth.

He is the person that his Majesty....

His Majesty what?

His Majesty.....

That's right. His Majesty....

Oh gosh, his relationship with his Majesty is not normal at all.

What are you saying?

You're driving me nut.

he is a life-savior.

When his Majesty drove out Gwang Hee and came to his throne.

He is an invincible man.

Having said that, our Shi Won has annoyed that big hero?

What is going to happen to us?

We can sit here and wait for it to happen.

Who am I?

I'm Byun Shik

Wrap that amber.

Shi Won!

I'm not going.

Shi Won, if you don't go we will be in trouble.

My son!

In order to save your father's life, you must go and apologize.

I'm not going.

Am I guilty when I toying with a thief?

Of course you're not guilty.

Who said you're guilty?

But.....

But you have touched Lee Won Ho in the process. That's a growing disaster.

I'm not...going.

My lord, how about you go alone?

Me?

Eun Chae!

Can you go with father?

If you go and apologize on behalf of your brother,

His heart will melt like a frozen iceberg in the spring

My lord!

It's ok, mother.

If I could, I will go and apologize to them.

Who gave birth to this wonderful, obedient daughter?

Daughter, we should go now.

Mother.

Is it true that father is a bandit?

Who told you that?

Your father is a excellent man.

Is it true?

The royal officer whom I met just now seems to be excellent also.

And that young master as well.

That young master seems royalty

Young master, why do you wash a lowly person such as myself's feet?

Don't ever consider yourself underprivileged in front of me.

To me you're a valuable treasure.

A treasure that is second to none.

Ja Dol

You are my treasure.

A treasure that is second to none.

10 years has passed in a blink of the eyes.

You had born a child that looks exactly like you.

How has your life been doing?

Yah! That's right.

I guess you have a happy life.

What are you thinking about so pensively, sir?

There are visitors coming.

Sir, please forgive my uncivil brother.

Why is it you who come here to apologize?

After knowing what my brother had done, my father punished him with a switch.

My brother's legs are still swollen, thus he can't here to apologize.

He's asked me to come here apologize to you on his behalf

Therefore, I come here to pay an apology to you sir.

She speaks really smoothly for one being so young.

You have a smart daughter.

My son was at fault as well.

By the way, causing your son's face to be injured......

It's not a big deal.

It's normal when kids get into a fight.

Eun Chae, go outside for a while.

Yes, father.

This is ....

A token of my sincerity. Please accept it, sir.

I currently serve his Majesty

To his Majesty....

If we look carefully, we could see a bug inside

The amber is evaluated by whether if it has bugs inside or not. Its prices are also differentiated by this method.

What are you doing sir?

Who are you, miss?

I'm sorry. The bird's singing is so melodic

I just wanted to come closer to listen

How is it? Can you hear it clearly now?

Yes. What is that bird's name?

It's called blackbird.

Blackbird?

Its singing sounds just like a whistle?

But that bird is very pitiful.

Pitiful? Why?

Blackbirds only appear when the titis are blooming.

They always hovering around the titis blossoms.

Why?

Because it consisted of a tragically sentimental story.

Let's go Eun Chae

Do you still remember, sir?

Everyone gathered to celebrate a successful rebellion.

We also used water to cleanse our swords.

Yes, 10 years has passed

If we hadn't rebelled at that moment,

If Gwang Hae has continued to sit on his throne, this country would not have been like this.

Come to think of it, Gwang Hae was a better choice.

Do you think so?

Actually,

Gwang Hae's policy to keep peace with the Myung and Ho Kim Dynasty were absolutely correct.

By doing so, it could have prevented rebellions from happening.

The civilians lives won't be harmed as well.

You're right, sir.

It's not too late now.

We can't forget our oath, that is, we must build a powerful Chosun in which everyone lives peacefully together.

Sir, please keep our oath which we made that year.

There is only you who dare to say it out loud now.

As everyone has said, the bloodline is very important.

3 days later, at 10 a.m. (mouse hour ^^)

I want to kill all rebels who are plotting to return Gwang Hae to power.

Yes.

Lee Won Ho is among those rebels.

Lee Won Ho ?

Yes.

Turn Lee Won Ho into the leader of those rebels.

How can I do that?

Yes, sir.

Step aside! My father is not a thief.

These kids

Those uneducated kids, scram along!

You all are nasty children

Scram!

Father,

You are not a thief, are you?

Of course I'm not. Who was the awful person spreading that dreadful rumor?

I am not.

My son.

I feel very bad for you.

What?

Everything

is caused by my oversight. I'm sorry my son.

I'm sorry because I have no money

I'm sorry because I couldn't buy you delicious foods.

I'm very sorry my son.

No, father.

You are the father who I love the most in my whole entire life.

Really?

Uhm

Okay, my dear son.

Father

I will become a righteous man to make your life better.

A righteous man?

Yes, father. Yesterday, there was a gentleman who told me to become a righteous man.

But father, what must I do to become a righteous man?

First of all, you must study well.

Can I become a wealthy man as long as I study well?

Of course! As long as you study well

You can pass the court examination and become righteous.

That is also a way to make you a noble.

Hold on, my Ja Dol.

Do you want to study in a private school?

A private school?

Really, father?

Yes, it is. We've decided on this.

I'll take you to school. We must find a better one.

Yah!

My precious son.

You don't have to be a nobody like me.

I'll do whatever it takes to make my son a righteous man.

Enough! I told you NO!

I told you not do it anymore.

I can do it. I won't be lazy.

I'll do it well.

Do you need to look at it?

Kye Bok !

Yes, old master!

Go and find a good kungfu fighter and bring him here.

Yes, old master.

Hyung! I swear not to burglarize again.

If I burglarize again, I'll chop off my hand.

Really? Your thought is right.

You're right to do it.

However,

after I sheathe my sword to its scabbard, I realize I can do nothing.

Nobody wants to hire me.

I promised Ja Dol that I'll send him to school.

With this damnable situation, where can I get money for my son's school fee?

He is not your biological son. Why do you need to waste so much of your effort?

Relax!

How can I relax? Although he is not my biological son,

my Ja Dol

I've been raising him since he was born. He is no different from my biological son.

This lad. You're really free and liberated.

You only need to bury it beneath the stone of the house which I'll show you.

After you're done, I'll pay you double.

Is it true I only need to bury it?

I heard your father is a thief.

Father is a thief,

son must be a thief as well.

What is it?

Isn't it a trace of blood?

I wonder what it is?

It's very suspicious.

This is not normal at all.

Really? Have you buried it?

Have you been spotted?

I don't know how to read so I have no idea what was written inside.

But I can distinguish if it was written by red ink or black ink.

I don't want to do it anymore.

Can please find other person, my lord?

What's happening? What are you guys doing?

Move aside!

This fella, do you want to die?

Do you think I'll let you go as you please?

Everyone!

Yes, my lord.

Do something to help waking him up!

Yes, my lord.

Let me go. What are you doing? Let go off my hand.

Let me go!

Father,

Ja Dol

Father.

He was peaking from outside of the door, thus I captured him here.

Why are you here?

My son,

My lord.

I beg you, my lord. Please forgive my son.

Throw that peeping Tom into the storage house.

My lord

My lord! Help me!

I'll do it.

I'll bury it.

Good!

Let him go!

My hand, I can't move it at all.

His hand seems to be broken.

If so, he won't be able to climb up the wall anymore.

Can you please forgive me, my lord.

and my son as well.

I can't let you go. You have already seen the content of the letter.

I'll be in trouble if you tell everyone.

No, I won't tell anybody.

I'll keep my mouth shut like a clam.

Don't beat him anymore. I'll do it for him.

I'll do it for him. I beg you please let my father go.

I'll do it for him.

Please let my father go.

If you are spotted, your father will be dead immediately.

Remember it, your father's life is in your hands.

you got it?

Hey, who are you? What are you doing here?

My lord

How was it?

Were you successful?

Where is the little boy?

He was prisoned together with his father.

Finish both of them while everyone is sleeping.

What?

Do you think that little boy's mouth is trustworthy?

If he spreads it around, everything will be over.

Sister! Sister!

Why are you here this late?

A major problem

Soe Dol and Ja Dol are about to lose their lives.

Ja Dol

Please spare his life, my lord.

I beg you, my lord. Please spare his life.

Why is it so noisy outside?

My lord, please spare my son's life.

I beg you, my lord. Please spare his life.

Who is she?

Is she that thief's wife?

You guys are useless.

You.....

You are.......

Hold on, is that little boy your son?

My lord.

Please, my lord.

I beg you, my lord. Please spare my son and my husband.

You're so unfortunate.

How could you be a thief's wife?

Your husband was spotted when he tried to climb up the wall.

Don't be so troublesome, you should return home now.

That little boy

Is it true that you dont know who the father of that boy is, my lord?

What? What are you saying?

Say it again

Have you forgotten it already, my lord?

10 years ago, at that night.

I haven't forgotten it yet.

So..

He is..

My son

Do you really want to kill your own son, my lord?

Do you really want to do it?

Didnt you like me at the first sight, when you came to my masters house, my lord?

What?

Didnt you tell my young master that you want to make me your concubine?

That is that is because.

Please make me your concubine, my lord.

I want to serve you.

Young master.

Did you see that?

What have I been doing when was pregnant with your child?

Im not going. I dont want to go.

I want to live with father and mother.

Remember my words!

There is a royal blood running throughout your body

Is it true that Im a son of that lord?

Yes, you are.

You are the son of Lord Byun Shik

Therefore, you must stop playing with those underprivileged kids.

if you run into me on the street one day, dont call me your mother either.

Mother!

You must grow up to be a man.

You must be a righteous man.

You got it?

After he knew that I wasnt his biological son.

He said that he didnt want to see me again.

This is a good thing.

Its better for you to be a young master over there than to grow up with a father who is a thief.

Ja Dol

You saw it already.

You saw everything already.

Ja Dol

Im sorry

Ja Dol

You must have been really scared, right Yeon?

Im ok, mother.

We lost nothing in our house.

I dont know what he came here for?

Recently, I heard that many kids have become beggars in the street

I guess he came here to filled his tummy

I already ordered the servants to block his escaping path.

You did a great job, my lady.

If he dares to come here again, I wont let him go easily.

Father, please teach me swordplay.

Swordplay?

Yes, father.

By learning swordplay, I can protect our house form thieves

Look at you now! How will you be able to catch thieves?

How will you be able to protect your family?

If you drop your sword, youll be facing a death.

Mother!

If it was a real sword, father was already stabbed to death

Im indeed despicable.

I just learnt that if I drop my sword, Ill be facing my death

Ok, I admit it.

I have lost to you.

Geom !

What do you think a sword means?

Yes, father?

There are two categories of swords

One category is specialized in killing people

By contrast, the other one is a tool used to save people

I hope you wont have to touch a sword for your entire life

But if all else failed and you have to touch a sword.

It will be a sword for this world.

It will be a sword used to rescue people.

You got it?

Yes, I do.

My son is an adult now.

Well be counting on our Geom.

I can sleep in peace now.

My lady!

I suddenly feel like this year titis is uniquely beautiful.

I have a feeling that I wont be able to see it ever again.

Father!

Geom, stay quite in there and dont move!

And dont even breathe heavily.

Father!

This thing is used to chase devils away.

Itll protect you.

Geom ah!

No matter of whatever happens

You must continue to live well.

Father!

Answer me! Say that you will live well.

Yes, I will father!

Father! Father!
