led his troops into an area known to be a hotbed

of insurgent activity without any support.

He drove right into an ambush.

It happens all the time around here,

but this time, it really looks like it could´ve been avoided.

one day after Grant, but 90 days

ahead of schedule.

We suspected Whiting was making

little looting forays on his days off.

There were only suspicions,

and nobody felt it was worth pursuing.

He´d done two tours. We sent him home.

We´d find them, flag them, set up a perimeter and call in EOD.
