1

Once upon a time, there was a planet far away in outer space.

2

The environment there was almost the same as Earth's.

3

So, of course, there were aliens living on it.

4

After a long process of evolution, those aliens

5

established their own civilization.

6

One day, their scientists predicted that their galaxy was going to collapse.

7

To escape, they immigrated to other planets in the universe by spaceship.

8

And one group of them came to Earth.

9

They called themselves the Fox Clan.

10

Ancient men on Earth were shocked when they saw them.

11

An ancient book reads that a huge ship-like object flew above the western sea.

12

The people in it wore crowns, had white feathers all over their bodies, and flew high in the sky with no wings.

13

That is the first impression the Fox Clan made on humans.

14

To adapt to the environment on Earth, the Fox Clan never stopped evolving.

15

Finally, they began to look like humans and gradually fit in with them.

16

Since ancient times, the conflict between humans and the Fox Clan never ended.

17

There was a government proofreading official named Dai Fu,

18

who was especially interested in the love between foxes and humans.

19

He believed love could overcome everything.

20

After Dai Fu died, his son collected all of the stories he had written.

21

He called it "Guang Yi Ji" and had it published.

(The Great Book of Marvels)

22

It was quite popular among its readers.

23

After storytellers added more details, the stories spread even further.

24

But humans began to fear foxes, instead of just being curious.

25

Foxes noticed that humans were getting less and less friendly.

26

They had to hide their identity in this world.

[The Love Knot: His Excellency's First Love]

28

[Episode 10]

29

Huiyan, Father said the medicine is almost ready for me.

30

I'll be able to see with my eyes very soon.

31

I want you to be the first thing I see.

32

I told you I'm ugly.

33

You won't like me.

34

Don't look at me.

35

The fox flower has 12 petals.

36

It takes one full year to blossom.

37

Whoever is marked with this flower will die before their 24th year.

38

Subbing and Timing brought to you by the Love Knot Team @viki.com

39

Ah Xi, drink it all up.

40

Thank you, Father.

41

Father.

42

Father, where is Huiyan?

43

Where is she?

44

From now on, forget about Shen Huiyan.

45

Father... I don't understand.

46

Where is she?

47

You will never see her again.

48

Why not?

49

She promised to marry me.

50

She is my wife. She said she would never leave me.

51

Stop it.

52

I am telling you again,

53

you will never see her again.

54

She is not your wife.

55

She is just your medicine.

56

Helan Jingting, from this day forward,

57

you are my heir.

58

I hope you will learn best from our ancestors.

59

One day you will be a great leader of the Fox Clan.

60

Let me go!

61

Forget that human woman!

62

Do what you're supposed to do!

63

Let me go!

64

Song'er, step back.

65

Why are you doing this?

66

You knew I loved her!

67

She was just your medicine!

68

Medicine that brought your eyesight back!

69

Then why did you promise she could marry me?

70

Why did you let us grow up together?

71

I just want to tell you

72

never to fall for a human woman.

73

Huiyan.

74

You can finally see.

75

Forgive me.

76

I can't be with you.

77

Huiyan. Huiyan!

78

Huiyan!

79

Huiyan!

80

You're awake.

81

I must look ridiculous to you right now.

82

Have some water.

83

You sweated a lot.

84

What did I do wrong?

85

Huh?

86

What the hell did I do wrong?

87

You didn't do anything wrong.

88

They didn't do anything wrong, either.

89

There isn't a right or wrong for everything.

90

Can't you just eat me?

91

Yes.

92

However, now is not the time.

93

Then when can you do it?

94

When you fall in love with me.

95

Then it probably won't happen.

96

I won't fall in love with anyone.

97

Mysterious male royalty. Cold female CEO.

98

Doctors...

99

A man who came from nowhere. Superpowers...

100

What else is there?

101

Sorry, Miss.

102

Can't you see we only hang out with good-looking people?

103

Miss Guan, Mr. Helan has been waiting for you for a very long time. Please, follow me.

104

Would it be too difficult to find fried pork buns?

105

Believe me.

106

Are you kidding me?

107

In regards to the Helan Jingting interview, Pipi told me

108

she didn't get any meaningful information.

109

Plus, she has already quit.

110

I don't know where she went.

111

Instead of going to find Guan Pipi,

112

it would be more useful to keep an eye on Helan and Qianhua.

113

Everyone in our business knows,

114

that sometimes when you've already uncovered important news,

115

but the news may be harmful to someone, especially those with power and money,

116

that person may make a deal with the journalist in secret.

117

In the situation with Guan Pipi and Helan,

118

it's very possible that Guan Pipi found something important--

- Wang Xuan.

119

You can't just make such assumptions. You need proof.

120

Chief Editor, then, I ask you, why did she suddenly quit?

121

Wasn't it because of some personal reasons?

122

Xiaoyu told me her boyfriend just went to the U.S.

123

Guan Pipi's parents are not rich enough to support her going to America.

124

Then, you're saying Helan manipulated her?

125

Did Guan Pipi hand in the equipment she used for interviews?

126

[Meeting Place: SKY RESTAURANT]

[Interview Date: August 13, 2018]

127

Xuan, here's another one.

128

Did anyone else use this pen recorder?

129

No. Most people think it is too much of a hassle.

130

They record with their phones now, which shouldn't be allowed.

131

Okay, I'll check it out. Thanks.

132

Hey, Xuan. You need to sign for it.

133

You sign it for me.

134

I can leave alone. Don't come out.

135

You be careful.

136

Relax.

137

Hello?

138

Miss Guan, this is the restaurant

139

calling to confirm your Chinese Valentine's Day dinner for two.

140

Today is Valentine's Day?

141

Yes.

142

I'm sorry. Can I cancel it?

143

I'm sorry. Since it's a holiday,

144

we will have to deduct a cancellation fee of 1000¥ from your bank card.

145

Perhaps... you can come with another friend.

146

Pipi, have some noodles.

147

Ah.

148

I felt it a long time ago.

149

Every time I was with Jialin, I asked myself,

150

"Why does he like me?"

151

I'm so stupid. My family is not rich.

152

If we hadn't grown up together,

153

he wouldn't even be with me.

154

You're stupid. Your family isn't rich,

155

but these are not the reasons why he doesn't love you.

156

I am not good enough for him. Unlike Tianxin.

157

She's smart and talented.

158

Her English is so good.

159

It's best that she go to America with Jialin.

160

If I went, I would be a burden.

161

Don't think like that.

162

You know what? When we were in high school,

163

no one in my class wanted to be my friend.

164

Tianxin was the only one who would be my friend.

165

I always guessed that Jialin would leave me,

166

but I just didn't expect it to be for Tianxin.

167

Pipi, everyone goes through break-ups.

168

We all power through it.

169

You need to believe in yourself. You will meet the one.

170

What if I don't?

171

If you don't, then you need to have some noodles.

172

Have some. Be a good girl.

173

I can't eat.

174

Forget it.

175

Have some soup, then.

176

You don't know how I feel.

177

I do know.

178

I liked that guy.

179

Who?

180

The one who often came to my cafe.

181

The one I wouldn't admit that I liked.

182

He didn't like me, so I had to let it go.

183

Pipi, you are lucky.

184

You and Jialin grew up together.

185

Even if there's no love left, he still cares about you.

186

Do you really think he cares about me?

187

Of course. If you were in danger,

188

he would come to see you as soon as he could.

189

Then why didn't he show up yesterday when I was in danger?

190

He didn't know.

191

If he had known he would have dropped everything and run to see you.

192

Okay, Pipi. Rest some more, then get up and eat something.

193

I have to go to work. I will check on you again after work.

194

Don't make me worried. Good girl. Eat something.

195

I'm going!

196

Sorry! I'm sorry.

197

Are you all right?

198

I'm fine.

199

- This is?

- The camera.

200

That is not your fault. I bumped into you.

201

You still need a new one. I already have too much money that I don't know how to spend.

202

Wait a minute.

203

- Can you give me your phone number--

- There's no need.

204

I gave you a check so I could avoid any trouble.

205

If you have any money left over, buy a better pair of shoes so you won't slip again.

206

Subbing and Timing brought to you by the Love Knot Team @viki.com

207

Maybe the love Jialin had for me disappeared long ago,

208

or maybe Tianxin misrepresented her friendship with me.

209

During the darkest three years of my life,

210

the most popular boy and girl in school were with me.

211

Why are your gloves so expensive?

212

Ma'am, we are just a small business.

213

I can't even make ¥5.

214

You bought all these goods for ¥5 and are selling it for ¥50. It's obvious you're overcharging.

215

Ma'am, how can you say that?

216

If you think it's too expensive, drop them and shop somewhere else.

217

You deserve to be a peddler for life.

218

- What kind of language is that? You don't need to buy them here. Why start insulting me?

219

What are you yelling about?

220

Don't mess with my business.

221

Go away!

222

Pipi!

223

Isn't that Uncle Guan?

224

Who can I offend selling gloves here?

225

- My father--

- Let's all go help your father sell gloves.

226

All right, let's.

227

Uncle Guan, we're here to help you.

228

- Dad.

- Huh?

229

So pretty.

230

Everyone, come check these out!

231

Pretty earmuffs and gloves!

232

Warm and fashionable! Only ¥20!

233

And scarves, too! Take a look!

234

This scarf. There are some matching gloves here, too.

235

Everyone, check this out!

236

This suits you well.

237

This one... only ¥50.

238

Look.

239

Auntie, that looks good. Buy it.

240

Do you like this pattern?

241

There's one more hour before we check-in.

242

Are you hungry? Let's go get some food.

243

Jialin?

244

Jialin.

245

What's wrong?

246

Are you thinking about Pipi?

247

No. No, I wasn't.

248

It was all so sudden.

249

None of us were prepared.

250

This way, Pipi can calm down.

251

When we come back from America,

252

we will explain it all to her.

253

Tianxin,

254

thank you for accompanying me.

255

No problem.

256

I will go get some food. You wait here.

257

I'm sorry.

258

Hello.

259

[Jialin, I can't live without you.]

260

To the U.S. Two people.

261

[Safe travels.]

262

Thanks.

263

Okay, thanks.

264

Miss, where do you want to go?

265

56 Xianting Street, please.

266

Yes, all right.

267

Thank you.

268

What's wrong?

269

Nothing.

270

- Let's go.

- Yes, let's go

271

Subbing and Timing brought to you by the Love Knot Team @viki.com

272

I'm sorry for troubling you.

273

No worries.

274

I wanted to--

275

I promise you.

276

You don't want to ask what it is?

277

I will promise you anything.

278

Hold my arm.

279

Be careful.

280

This way.

281

Welcome.

282

Mr. Helan, can you wait for me for one minute?

283

Sure.

284

I want to try on this dress. Is there a size S?

285

All right. One moment, please.

286

Miss Guan, I'll buy it for you.

287

No, no. I want to buy this myself.

288

Here.

289

Thank you.

290

What's the rush?

291

We'll be there soon.

292

One moment. Red light.

293

Be careful.

294

Miss Guan, can we cross now?

295

Be careful.

296

You're really sweet.

297

Coming to the hair salon with your girlfriend.

298

What's a salon for?

299

Salon is the place where girls become pretty.

300

You sit here for a while.

301

This way, please.

302

Is there anything you can't eat?

303

No, nothing.

304

Aren't you allergic to seafood?

305

I just made that up last time. You made me angry.

306

So...

307

Then, tell the chef to prepare the ingredients accordingly.

308

Yes, sir.

309

Here is your tea.

310

May I ask for water instead?

311

This gentleman doesn't drink tea.

312

Sure. Coming right up.

313

I'm sorry for asking you to come here and eat with me.

314

No problem. Our last two engagements weren't exactly joyful.

315

This is a chance to make up for that.

316

But I don't want you to misunderstand.

317

Relax. I won't.

318

Excuse me, your dish is ready.

319

Please, enjoy.

320

What's wrong? Not tasty?

321

Nothing. It feels odd for me to eat alone.

322

It feels like something is missing.

323

I thought you don't eat human food.

324

Not a problem. I'll eat along with you.

325

Eat some more.

326

Sir, your water.

327

This is our special couples themed meal.

328

This is the rest of your order. Please, enjoy.

329

Eat some more then.

330

Thanks.

331

Sorry, I have to go to the bathroom.

332

It's getting late. I'll drive you home, Miss Guan.

333

Do you know what the date is today?

334

The 7th of July on the lunar calendar.

335

Times flies so fast.

336

Yeah. When I was little, I didn't know why this day was Chinese Valentine's Day.

337

Then my mother told me the story about the Cowherd and the Cloud-Weaver.

338

I just felt so bad for her.

339

Then I realized as I grew older, even though they could only see each other once a year,

340

it was already blissful for two people in love to have met once a year.

341

So, today is humankind's Valentine's Day?

342

Buy your girlfriend some flowers.

343

These are so pretty!

344

This one?

345

- Enjoy.

- Thanks.

346

Welcome.

347

Smells so good!

348

- Pretty?

- Yep!

349

All of these are new ones and they arrived today.

350

Take a look around.

351

Thanks. Come again.

352

Miss Guan, this is for you.

353

Thanks.

354

Mr. Helan, can you do me another favor?

355

Sure.

356

You know what?

357

On this ferris wheel, you can see the best views of the city at night.

358

Isn't it pretty?

359

Yes. Do you come here often?

360

This is my first time here.

361

I always thought I should come here with someone I love.

362

It's a waste to come by myself.

363

So, I've been holding onto this thought.

364

I wanted to pick a special day and come here with the one I love.

365

It seems like some views are not meant to be shared.

366

I'm sorry. I disappointed you.

367

No. I'm supposed to say sorry.

368

What's wrong? Feeling unwell?

369

I think I'm afraid of the height.

370

Is it better now?

371

You can skip the view that you can't share.

372

Once, I heard a song.

373

The lyrics said,

374

"Life is what happens to you while you're busy making other plans."

375

We are used to planning our lives.

376

But life is always full of surprises.

377

It will catch you when you're least prepared.

378

Then you will suddenly notice,

379

your life has been slowly changing.

380

Mr. Helan,

381

can you throw away this letter for me?

382

Don't throw it away if you're hesitating.

383

Can you do me one last favor, then?

384

Read the letter to me.

385

"To the future Pipi,

386

I'd like to go to school with you.

387

I'd like to run with you.

388

I'd like to watch movies with you.

389

I'd like to play games with you.

390

I'd like to do many things with you,

391

because you're the prettiest, the kindest,

392

and the most lovely girl I've ever seen.

393

When we grow up, will you marry me?

394

I will never lie to you.

395

I will never make you suffer.

396

That way, we can be together forever.

397

5th grade, 6th class, Tao Jia--"

398

Stop now.

399

I'm sorry, Mr. Helan.

400

I shouldn't have asked you to do so much for me today.

401

Is there anything else that you need help with?

402

No. Thank you, for today.

403

Miss Guan. The umbrella.

404

No need.
