(Guardians of the Dafeng)

(Episode 22)

Heaven and Earth,

bear witness to my plea!

This is a blood-written plea for justice,

and may Heaven's mandate deliver retribution!

Lord Wei, how was it?

The case blew up.

His Majesty ordered the Astronomical Bureau to intervene.

Song Qing and Chu Cai Wei are ordered to enter the palace.

The three bureaus will investigate this case together.

The results will be out soon.

Does anyone else disagree?

The position of Minister of War will depend on Zhang Feng's punishment.

Every other official has their own agenda.

Princess Ping Yang's elopement

will ruin the royal family's reputation.

His Majesty was in a dilemma.

However, Princess Lin An's blood-written letter

successfully shut everyone up.

His Majesty has no choice but to do it.

How is

Princess Lin An doing?

Princess Lin An is affectionate and loyal.

She kneeled in the hall for a long time.

Even after His Majesty gave his orders,

she still wouldn't leave.

Why did she go

to mess up the political scene for no reason?

She involved the Night Guardians and caused His Majesty to be suspicious.

She has been close to Ping Yang since young

and worried about Lord Yu Residence's matters.

However, she was foolish to do this.

His Majesty dotes on her

because she is naive

and never interferes with political matters.

However, she got herself involved in the power struggle

and used a letter to punish the Minister of War.

His Majesty didn't say it,

but he would have some ideas about it.

His Majesty already has doubts about you and is still considering.

After this,

you might need to be even more cautious in the future.

Lin An is really...

Mother.

Father is suspicious,

but gaining Father's trust

is also something I need to learn as the crown prince.

However, do you think it's worth it

to lose His Majesty's love for the sake of an unfaithful woman?

It was worth it.

She is not an unfaithful woman.

She just wants to be free.

Is that wrong?

Look at her. What kind of attitude is that?

Now that it has come to this,

Lin An can be seen as an affectionate and loyal person

despite her reckless actions because she was helping Ping Yang.

If you scold Lin An for my sake

and let Father and the other officials find out,

I would become a heartless person

who is greedy for power.

Sister,

have you achieved freedom?

(Three Days Later)

Heng Yuan, you are free to go.

Go.

No. 3 told me

about everything.

What do you plan to do

after this?

That's right.

The emperor has made a judgment.

Three days later,

Zhang Feng and his son

will be executed

in front of the market.

(Guiyue Restaurant)

Greetings, Princess Royal.

Spare the formalities.

Sit.

The case is solved.

Zhang Feng was executed.

The position of Minister of War is still empty.

I'm sure every official

will be fighting to take this position.

Wait for news with me

at the small meeting today.

Yes.

Your Highness.

It's all right.

Everyone is recommending one of their own at the meeting

to take the position of Minister of War.

It was a fierce competition.

What about Lord Wei?

Lord Wei hasn't recommended anyone yet.

Official Wei, do you really not have anyone to recommend?

I'm worried

and don't have a candidate for now.

In that case,

Official Cao,

the candidates of Minister of War

will be chosen according to your suggestion.

Yes, Your Majesty.

All right. Dismiss if there's nothing else.

Your Majesty, I have something to report.

Speak.

Copper Guardian Xu Qi An

has contributed a lot to Princess Ping Yang's case.

Your Majesty,

please spare his life.

I've submitted the relevant document

to the inner court.

Your Majesty,

I think

the case hasn't been solved yet.

I'm afraid

it's too soon

to pardon him now.

How dare you bring this filth

into this place.

- I... - How dare you!

Calm down, Your Majesty.

I was wrong.

Look.

- Look! - Yes.

- Look. - Where is it?

You brought all this filth inside!

Have I told you before?

You must come here with clean clothes and clean feet.

- Yes! - Why can't you remember?

- I remember now. - Wipe it!

Wipe it cleanly! This place is dirty too!

I'll wipe it!

There as well!

Wipe! Over here!

- I'll wipe it. - Hurry!

I'll wipe it.

Your Majesty!

Lord Wei probably did that

to save your life.

I can't afford to repay Lord Wei

and Your Highness for what you did for me.

However, the others won't give up so easily.

Are you talking about Minister Sun?

I refuted him a few times during the Sangbo case.

Later, I infiltrated the Ministry of Justice.

He has seen me as a target.

Don't worry. I am not weak.

I won't let him control me.

Are there any movements at the Eastern Palace?

The Crown Prince did not attend the meeting.

Lin An's blood-written letter

has stirred up a lot of trouble.

The Crown Prince is avoiding all this

to wait for a chance to strike.

I heard His Majesty

is unhappy about Princess Lin An because of this.

Interfering with political matters as a princess

is taboo for His Majesty.

Princess Lin An just wanted to seek justice for Princess Ping Yang.

However, her act caused further consequences.

Of course, she expected it.

However,

I heard that when people are extremely sad,

they keep it inside

with no way to vent it.

I heard

she has never left Shaoyin Palace after that day.

She will also not meet you today.

Lord Xu, Her Highness won't see you. Please return.

I know Her Highness is sad,

but her body won't hold on without eating.

Give this to her. Tell her to eat more

and take care of her health.

Try it.

Try it.

Give this to Her Highness as well.

Your Highness.

You've never eaten for a few days.

Your body will collapse if this goes on.

Xu Qi An purposely sent this just now.

He asked you

to eat more and take care of your health.

Yolk Pastry?

How does she know that you like to eat this?

He's quite considerate.

Your Highness, many people care about you.

Do you want to take a couple of bites?

I'll leave them here then.

Gang.

How has Lin An been doing recently?

Your Highness, she's still the same.

She hasn't had any food or water.

Your Highness.

I'm worried

that the princess is keeping her sadness inside.

It might be harmful and damaging to her stomach and other organs.

Compared to taking medicinal food,

she should get her sadness out

and vent her pain instead.

(Lantern Festival.)

(The market is as bright as day.)

(The sky is covered in stars.)

(I travel with Lin An on the boat)

(and feel very happy.)

(I hope every night in every year is like tonight.)

(Ping Yang.)

We must forever be this happy.

Sure.

I sneaked out today.

Let's have fun!

Time waits for no one.

Why should we waste our own time?

Let's sing and drink

instead of dreaming.

Lin An, let's have fun tonight.

So happy!

So happy!

Happy!

Your Highness, that painting was...

It was a painting kept by Ping Yang.

It ended up in the marketplace after passing a few hands.

My customer found it

so I bought it.

There are rumors

that you are not on friendly terms with Princess Lin An,

but you know her preference

and loves eating Xunwei Bakery's Yolk Pastry.

You even helped her find the painting

that ended up in the marketplace.

With your intelligence,

what do you think?

Both of you are siblings,

but you're both in your own world.

The Sangbo case isn't over yet.

Take care.

Mother, I want Guiyue Restaurant's red bean bun.

Eat?

You look like a red bean bun yourself.

Ling Yin! Recite the Trimetric Classic first.

I've already memorized it.

People at birth,

are naturally good.

Their natures are similar...

I'm back!

- Dou Ding. - Ning Yan!

I brought you delicious cheese.

- Here. - He's so rich.

- He should pay me instead. - You're back.

Thank you!

Where's Ci Jiu?

He went to the academy to prepare for the spring imperial examination.

Hey.

What's going on?

That's all the food we have? Where's the meat?

It's because

we have no more money at home.

Ning Yan. Father. Eat.

No. Hold on.

What do you mean?

Aunt, I remember I just paid you money this month.

The new year is coming. I need to buy the necessary goods.

The money you gave

wasn't even enough to buy anything.

There are still a few months left.

What's the rush?

I'll pay more next month.

How's that?

Ning Yan.

You promised to make a new outfit for me and Mother.

What? Have you forgotten?

I don't remember it. When did I say that?

Pay up.

- My leg. - Pay up.

I've been standing the whole day.

Pay up!

Pay up!

Fine.

Both of you

will only eat vegetables forever.

Vegetables is good.

I love eating vegetables.

Vegetables are delicious, right?

Of course.

Second Uncle, let me tell you. Vegetable are good.

It is good for martial artists like you.

It's nutritious, organic, and good for our body.

Moreover, vegetables has a lot of fiber.

- It's helpful for our power. - You are right.

Vegetables are delicious.

Why haven't I realized how delicious they are?

In the future, let's eat vegetables every day.

Those who want to eat meat have to pay. Right?

The vegetables are delicious.

Eat more.

Eunuch Yang?

Congratulations, Lord Xu.

His Majesty has rewarded you.

Copper Guardian of the Night Guardians yamen, Xu Qi An,

contributed to investigating the Princess Ping Yang case

and protecting Princess Lin An.

He will be granted

a thousand taels of gold,

a hundred bolts

of fine silk fabric.

That's all.

Thank you, Your Majesty.

Lord Xu,

congratulations.

Return to the palace!

Take care, Eunuch Yang.

If you are free, come and have a meal.

Sure.

Everyone, you've worked hard.

Take care.

Close the door.

Everyone, you may leave. It's nothing.

- You may leave. - Sorry for disturbing you.

Is this the Yun Fabric?

(There's only a reward)

(without sparing my life.)

Father. Mother.

They are His Majesty's reward for Ning Yan.

They are not for you.

Why are you so happy?

Ning Yan, it's getting cold.

Have a sip of hot tea.

It boosts your Qi and dispels the cold.

What's the use of drinking tea?

You should wear more layers on a cold day

to protect yourself from the chill.

That is the right way.

My dear.

I made this new outfit for you.

It's getting cold.

Wearing more layers might be important,

but you must still condition the body.

Look. It's all thanks to my conditioning for 20 years

that Ning Yan

can grow from a small child to a strong

and capable man.

Moreover, he has also gained His Majesty and the princess' favor.

Right?

I appreciate

all your kindness,

and all of you are my close ones.

So?

So?

So?

There's no need to worry

about the reward.

I'll make the best arrangements for it.

Now that I think of it,

Aunt is good at managing the household.

The gold can be put to good use

in your hands.

Ning Yan is right.

Certainly.

We've been living in this house for more than 20 years, right?

It's so annoying.

Let's go to the inner city

and buy a new house.

Let's move!

Great!

Before we move,

let's have a good meal!

I want to eat meat! I want to replenish my protein!

- What do you want? - Two meat buns.

Sure.

Just one will do.

Sure. One meat bun.

I guess I want two.

Here. Two meat buns.

Thank you.

- What do you want? - Let me see.

You are Xu Xin Nian.

Can't you even afford a meat bun?

You should know

that our assets were seized

after the tax money case.

Moreover, there has been a lot of trouble recently.

I'm afraid this month's budget might not be enough.

Times have been tough recently.

My calligraphy and painting

can't make much money.

I should save money whenever I can.

How can you study with an empty stomach?

Why don't I share half of my meal with you?

No need.

A house without books is like a room without windows.

I, Xu Xin Nian,

can study well even if I don't eat much.

What's wrong, Ci Jiu?

That's weird. Aren't outsiders not allowed in the academy?

Those two people are...

There's no one there.

Are you confused because you are starving, Ci Jiu?

Here. You can eat my sausage.

No need.

They were there just now.

No one's around.

He is Xu Qi An's younger brother, Xu Xin Nian.

He is also No. 3.

Thankfully, you know

the brother of No. 3 who works as a Night Guardian in the yamen.

That was how we could find No. 3.

Back then,

without No. 3's help,

I wouldn't have

avenged my junior successfully.

I won't be released

from the prison so soon as well.

However, I'm afraid today is not a good time to thank him.

Just now, I realized

a Qi has locked onto us.

It's probably Zhao Shou.

Yes.

We shouldn't appear

in Yunlu Academy because of our identities.

We will bring trouble to No. 3.

Then, let's find another opportunity.

When he leaves the mountain,

we will thank him

from afar.

You are right.

Real gold.

Real gold.

Everyone,

thank you for helping me during this period.

All of you helped me when I was in trouble

so when I'm rewarded,

I'll naturally share it with all of you,

right?

Ning Yan.

You...

Hold on.

Yu Chun, here you go.

For your wife.

That's too many.

She can't wear all of them.

You can grind them into powder.

Take them.

This is too lavish.

I thank you on behalf of my wife.

Thank you for pleading for me

during yesterday's meeting, Lord Wei.

Unfortunately,

the Sangbo case has yet to be solved.

His Majesty still hasn't spared your life.

I know.

Someone purposely caused trouble.

Those are minor issues.

The important thing

is that His Majesty doesn't like you.

I am just a mere Copper Guardian.

How did I offend His Majesty?

Because of

the Spirit Dragon.

It's all right.

Don't be afraid.

Spirit Dragon is the royal pet.

It is only close to people from the royal family.

While investigating the Sangbo Case,

the Spirit Dragon

was close to you in public.

(Why would the Spirit Dragon be close to me?)

Those are not important.

The important thing

is keeping you alive.

What should I do next?

Please tell me, Lord Wei.

There's only one way.

Wait.

Until now,

every clue has been wiped clean.

Once the time limit is over,

if His Majesty insists on your execution,

I will

find a death row prisoner to replace you.

No one will suspect that.

What if

Zhou Chi Xiong is captured?

This problem can be solved.

Who's there?

(Yunzhou Stronghold)

(No. 2, have you captured Zhou Chi Xiong?)

Stop rushing.

I'm capturing him.

Move faster!

Everyone, drink.

Yes!

It seems like these women

are not suitable for you, Zhou.

Coincidentally, I captured a group of merchants.

There was

a pretty lady among them.

Let me get her here to help liven things up.

Are you Zhou Chi Xiong?

Yes.

Are you Zhou Chi Xiong?

Are you

the Sparrow Heroine?

What Sparrow Heroine? It sounds so bad.

Master.

How did I perform?

You delivered the news on time.

Are we going to kill him now?

Spare my life!

I'm not going to kill you.

I'm sending you to meet someone.

Have a safe journey.

(Five Days Later)

Senior Song, was I mistaken?

Did he put chicken meat into the pot?

There are also mushrooms

and other spices.

Don't... Don't interrupt him.

Keep watching.

Continue.

What is this?

This is what I get from extracting the essence of ingredients.

I called it

chicken stock.

Chicken stock?

It's food?

Get some noodles.

Mix them?

Try it.

Delicious.

So delicious.

I always thought

alchemy could only be used

for making tools

and weapons.

I didn't expect

to add fire to the mix.

I get it now!

My thinking was too narrow in the past.

Alchemy is everywhere in life!

Ning Yan, can you teach this skill to the Astronomical Bureau?

Naturally.

I still have many such alchemy skills.

Senior Song, if you want them,

you can take them from me.

- However... - An equal exchange of values. I understand.

Just leave it to me.

Cai Wei, let's go.

Cai Wei.

You are here.

I am here.

After so many days,

you still like to face everyone with your back.

Even so,

I still attracted your attention.

What I'm talking about

is the important thing you need to do today.

I've already ordered Senior Song to do...

Go.

- Lady Cai Wei as well. - Go.

Right now,

I'm the only one left.

He's here?

(No. 3, I've sent him to you.)

(If I need help in the future, )

(remember that you owe me a favor.)

Thanks!

Who are you?

Where am I?

I think riding on a bird to make an entrance is not bad.

Xu Qi An,

do you think

I need a mount?

Senior Yang,

with your presence,

riding a bird isn't suitable.

What is suitable for me?

You should ride a dragon.

You will become more powerful.

I called it Thundering Dragon Rider.

Where should I go buy this dragon?

Coincidentally, I'm heading to the palace.

Bring me there and ask His Majesty yourself.

Quit it.

Let's go.

The stuff!

- I'm done. - Go.

Ning Yan.

I came here as soon as I received news from you.

You just arrived when I've already waited for you for so long.

Thank you

for coming here all the way.

It's all right.

I couldn't help you last time.

I hope I can contribute this time.

Master, do you still remember

the magic book you gave me last time?

Don't worry.

I won't go back on my promise.

Thank you, Master.

I understand.

I still have a few new ones.

I will bring them to you next time.

That's better.

Thank you, Master.

Remember.

With your current rank,

you can only use some beginner magic now.

When you want to use it, just tear off a page

and light it up with your Qi.

But remember.

You are no longer a disciple of the academy.

Remember not to use it often.

Otherwise, your Qi will be messed up

and your stamina will be exhausted.

I understand. Thank you, Master.

Keep it immediately.

Why are you here?

Why is she here too?

Why are you two here? Where's Senior Yang?

Senior Yang...

He said facing His Majesty with his back at the hall

will get him beheaded.

He even said he would transport us here to save time,

and it'd also count as a contribution.

I don't understand him.

He always turns his back on others

and don't speak normally.

- It's so annoying. - Exactly.

Recently, some fool taught him a poem,

and he recites it every day.

I can't help but want to kill him.

I'm sure it's not me.

Let's go. Don't make His Majesty wait.

Your Majesty, the limit for the Sangbo case is over.

Wei Yuan framed the Ministry of Justice for colluding with traitors,

but there's still no evidence until now.

Your Majesty, please punish him.

I agree.

Your Majesty, please investigate it

and punish Wei Yuan severely

to return justice to all of us who were framed for no reason!

Wei Yuan.

Have you found anything

related to the Sangbo case?

Your Majesty,

Xu Qi An has captured Zhou Chi Xiong.

He is waiting

outside the palace doors right now.

- Summon him. - Summon Xu Qi An to the hall!

Criminal Xu Qi An

greets Your Majesty.

Where is Zhou Chi Xiong?

Bring him here!

Your Majesty, this person is the wanted criminal of the imperial court.

The former commander of Jinwu Guards,

Zhou Chi Xiong.
