[Episode 10]

[Wood Horse] [Earth Snake] [Earth Hare]

The Tianshu Pavilion contains everything in the universe.

The distribution of archives and files

[Wind]

is based on the secret codes of heaven and earth.

Section A records the daily life of the royal family

and the secrets of the clan.

Section B focuses on criminal cases, unsolved cases,

[Royal Secrets]

and vendettas in the jianghu.

Section C covers astronomy, astrology,

and geography.

And so on.

As for the fire disaster of the Prince's Hunting Ground

in the 20th year of Hongyun...

"A" represents imperial power,

and "Hare" belongs to the Wood element of the East,

which exactly corresponds to the direction of the Mulan Hunting Ground.

Even the direction of the shelves is mocking that

Zhou Yan died in

the second lunar month, when all things come back to life.

This is

the royal secret kept on the Hare shelf in Section A.

Royal Records.

Spring of the 20th year of Hongyun.

[Imperial Astronomical Bureau’s Record of Celestial Anomalies]

[9th day of the 2nd lunar month in the 20th year of Hongyun]

In the suburbs of the capital's Tianhuang City,

at Mulan Hunting Ground.

On the 9th day of the 2nd lunar month in the 20th year of Hongyun,

in the third solar term,

Fourth Prince Zhou Yan died in a mountain fire

during a spring hunt.

[9th day of the 2nd lunar month in the 20th year of Hongyun]

I want to go home!

Brother, where are you?

I want to go home! I want to go home!

I want to go home!

I want to go home!

Who are you?

I want to go home!

How dare you!

Your robe is embroidered with dragon patterns.

Don't you know

this is a crime of overstepping?

I didn't want to wear this.

Someone put it on me.

Stop crying.

Are you lost?

I am the Fourth Prince of the current dynasty, Zhou Yan.

I can ask my father to send you home.

Really?

My father wove this for me.

You can play with it.

Take it.

Stop crying.

Who are you?

Who are you?

As his father, I was overcome with grief.

I suspended court for 3 days to keep vigil for my beloved son.

Following public opinion, I bestowed upon my fourth son

the posthumous title of Prince Qihuai.

In the end, a prince

was not as important as your empire.

In your heart,

have you ever

truly felt heartache for me?

The Fourth Prince

died in a mountain fire during the spring hunt.

If I can find

the cases related to

missing children from that year,

I might find a clue.

[Investigation Report on the Shen Residence]

On the 8th day of the 2nd lunar month in the 20th year of Hongyun,

in Yeqiao Town, on the outskirts of the capital,

scholar Shen Baoquan

and his family of 4 went missing.

Apart from two

spurts of blood at the scene,

there were no clues.

This case remains unsolved.

Missing persons:

Shen Baoquan, 31 years old.

Shen Jing'an, 11 years old.

Shen Lan, 8 years old...

The 8th day of the second lunar month.

The day before the events at Mulan Hunting Ground.

Shen Lan, 8 years old.

[Divine Constable, Qingyang]

That is the God of Lies,

Qipi.

It has no eyes or nose,

[God of Lies, Qipi]

only a mouth that distorts the truth

and deceives people's hearts.

Chief.

Why are you here?

It's almost midnight.

You were in there for a long time,

so I thought I'd come and take a look.

As expected, nothing escapes

the Chief's eyes.

Tianshu Pavilion is really too big.

I accidentally lost track of time.

To linger like this,

you must have found something

interesting to you.

I originally thought that

Tianshu Pavilion

was only used to store archives.

I didn't expect

there to be

such a magnificent place here.

I am but a layman.

Despite studying them for a long while,

I still couldn't figure out

what was so profound

about these god murals.

If, as the Chief just said,

Qipi represents lies,

then

what do the other gods

represent?

Chief,

could you please enlighten me?

This is Kelu,

and this is Rangnan.

They respectively oversee the Immortality and Prophecy of all beings.

Kelu?

Is it the God Kelu that Wen Nansheng

mentioned?

Qipi

represents lies.

Haiqu is in charge of hatred.

[God of Hatred, Haiqu]

Qiuyu is the God of Calamity.

[God of Calamity, Qiuyu]

And this last one,

Hanluo,

represents death.

[God of Death, Hanluo]

Are these all murals

of the ancient Liluo Sect?

But why are they here

in the secret room of Tianshu Pavilion?

These murals

look really strange.

They really don't look like

things from our Shi Dynasty.

Chief,

may I know why you kept them

in the secret room of Tianshu Pavilion?

These are indeed

not products of our Shi Dynasty.

The reason they are sealed in

the deepest part of Tianshu Pavilion

is that

these things are highly ominous.

Seeing them,

you will understand

where all the

pain and sin in this world

come from.

Are these gods

actually the source of all pain

and sin in the world?

You must remember.

Even the closest people around you

may not be what you see

with your own eyes.

I will keep the Chief's teachings in mind.

[Yeqiao Town, Outskirts of Tianhuang City]

Miss.

It's hot. Have some herbal tea.

Take a look.

It cools you down.

Aunt Wang.

Did you just make this?

Yes, it's freshly woven.

Excuse me, sir.

May I ask

how to get to this address?

[List of Missing Persons]

The Shen family?

It's the courtyard ahead.

[Noodles]

Thank you.

Okay.

Is anyone here?

Is anyone home?

Meng Rui?

Why is it you?

This is my house.

This is your house?

Of course I know this is your house.

I came here looking for you.

I thought

the one opening the door would be

a servant or maid.

How did you find my house?

Didn't the Chief ask Yan and the others

to escort you back?

I asked them.

No one in the bureau knows

my address.

I admit,

I followed you that day.

With my lightness skill,

following you here

was a piece of cake.

Didn't you say

you've been homeless since you were 11

and studied under Dao Yin?

I didn't expect

that you'd own such an old house

here in Tianhuang City.

Why haven't I

heard you mention it before?

Or is it

that this house is...

Meng Rui.

Meng Rui! Meng Rui!

My parents must be waiting for me!

And my brother!

He must be anxiously waiting for me

to fly kites together!

Shen Jing'an, 11 years old.

Shen Lan, 8 years old.

Yan'er.

So beautiful! It's awesome!

Awesome!

-Father made me a grasshopper! -Slow down, Fourth Prince.

Father made me a grasshopper!

The grasshopper Father made me

is the most beautiful in the world!

Father,

will you make more for me in the future?

I will weave a hundred grasshoppers

for you, Yan'er.

Why a hundred?

Because I hope you

can live a long life.

But Father,

what would you do

if I die

one day?

Nonsense.

My Yan'er

will surely live a long life

and become the most outstanding emperor

of our Great Shi Dynasty.

[Shen]

If you are Shen Lan,

then I guess

your brother Shen Jing'an is still alive.

Bearing a blood feud,

he changed his name.

Maybe he even became a constable.

I'll make a bet with you.

He must be waiting for you to come home

to fly kites together.

As the saying goes,

it takes a hundred days to recover from a bone injury.

Not to mention your injury is quite serious.

Mr. Meng, in the future,

we will be neighbors.

You are welcome

to visit me regularly.

What did you say?

This house...

I bargained it down to 240 taels.

They said that since I wanted to move in overnight,

I had to add another 10 taels.

I don't know

if spending these 250 taels of silver

was considered

expensive or not.

I have a gift for you.

Shen Lan, let's see

who wins this bet.

You, or me.

I can only try.

Brother, you're flying it so high.

Brother,

can you fly it a bit higher?

Okay!

It seems

my guess was right.

Shen Jing'an has never

forgotten

the promise with his brother.

The deeper the love,

the deeper the pain.

Meng Rui,

don't mind

the kite.

I just wanted to give my new neighbor

a little gift.

Let's get down to business.

I promised

to tell you the situation in the bureau.

The case of the demon

has made no progress so far.

Lou Tianming's wanted poster

has also been sent to all prefectures and counties.

You don't need to worry.

By the way,

there is one more thing

that is crucial to the overall situation.

Although the Chief repeatedly told me

not to tell you yet,

I think

I should still let you know.

Come in.

When will you change your habit

of always bringing up the Chief

at every turn?

What's on your back?

The Kui Wood Wolf constellation.

Ever since Dao Yin

taught me the Severe-Cold Sword technique,

I've had this.

It appears whenever I channel my energy.

I didn't expect this technique

to be so profound.

The Severe-Cold Sword technique

is indeed extraordinary.

You and Dao Yin...

A beggar

and a wanderer

actually developed

such a master-disciple bond.

What a deep destiny.

Meng Rui,

why did you

want to learn the Severe-Cold Sword technique?

Could it be that

you have some deep-seated hatred

and need peerless martial arts

to take revenge?

Nice drawing.

But what is this you drew?

This is the tattoo I saw

on the demon's nape.

Since

they tattooed it on their bodies,

it means

this thing is crucial

to them.

Meng Rui,

have you ever thought about

investigating

the origin of this bug?

I was just planning

to go to Tianshu Pavilion to check it out later.

Why would Tianshu Pavilion know anything about this?

For weird things like this,

you have to rely on unorthodox methods

to ask around.

Are you interested?

I'll take you to a place

to help you investigate.

This is the Underworld Market?

That's right.

This is the largest black market

in Great Shi.

The Divine Constable Bureau has tried to raid it many times,

but could never find a way in.

I remember when you first joined the Divine Constable Bureau,

you arrested many merchants from the Underworld Market.

What is your relationship with this place?

Lord Constable Ghost,

don't forget.

Besides being a constable,

I am also a merchant.

As a merchant,

it's natural to have some

connections.

It's not surprising that I have dealings

with the Underworld Market.

Let's go.

Why are you running?

Don't worry.

The one who came here today

is not Lord Constable Ghost,

but my friend.

We are here to ask you

about something.

I really don't know

where your master is.

Have you seen this?

The usual rules.

Is that enough?

Tell us everything you know.

Mr. Meng...

Have you ever heard of the Five Wonders of Liluo?

The Five Wonders of Liluo?

This insect is called Chiying,

one of the Five Wonders of Liluo.

In our line of work,

we often have to search around for

snakes, insects, and poisonous plants to use as medicinal ingredients.

Rumor has it

that Chiying

loves to gather around graves.

Someone once saw it

while gathering herbs.

Where?

Where?

When people get old,

they really become useless.

Useless...

Speak.

I remember now.

It was found in Mingling County, Qingzhou.

There's one person here

who isn't marked.

[Ministry of War Roster] [Su Wei]

Could this person still be alive?

This person

went to Mingling County in Qingzhou many years ago

and disappeared without a trace.

This Chiying insect

is no ordinary bug.

Anyone who sees it is terrified.

However,

that's all in the past.

Later on,

it disappeared completely.

Since it is one of the Five Wonders of Liluo,

what makes it a wonder?

Its wonder lies in its poison.

If a hundred of them bite the body

and the poison enters the marrow,

it can turn a person into a demon.

The poisoned person's

physical capabilities will increase severalfold,

with a body of the netherworld

and the soul of a beast.

In that case,

Liluo's Dark Night is using this method

to turn living people into demonic suicide squads

for its use.

No wonder those demons

were impossible to kill.

Their bodies have mutated.

Half human, half demon.

What an evil practice.

You mentioned

the Five Wonders of Liluo.

Besides the Chiying bugs,

what are the other wonders?

You asked the right person.

Trying to snatch it?

Speak.

Chiying bugs light the fire,

eroding bones to spawn demons.

The Chiying bugs.

Luo flowers condense into jade,

turning white hair black again.

Tianmoluo, the fruit of immortality.

Puppets pulled by moss threads,

having neither tears nor heart.

Puppetry.

The moon's reflection turns into the flower in the mirror,

replacing old bones with new faces.

The Canglang tide boils,

and the Eight Wastelands breathe together.

What are these two?

I don't know about that.

That's all

I know.

Liluo actually has 5 ultimate secret arts.

They're carefully planning

to use these evil arts to revive their reign.

Great Shi is in danger.

You are quite concerned about the country and the people.

I thought Lord Constable Ghost

only cared about catching and killing people.

Don't worry.

If we can

get a hold of this information,

the Chief and the one on the dragon throne

must have found out too.

It's just that...

We are in the open, and the enemy is in the dark.

It's hard for us to find

their traces.

How would we know if we don't try?

Well said.

As expected of Lord Constable Ghost.

Old Geezer said

the last place the Chiying bugs appeared

was Mingling County, Qingzhou.

How about it?

Are you interested

in going together?

You're not thinking of going alone, are you?

If I take you,

I have to ask the Chief for orders

and treat it as official business.

I haven't recovered from my injuries yet.

Do you think the Chief would agree?

Let me tell you,

if you don't take me,

I'll report to the Chief

that you are investigating privately

and acting without authorization.

When that happens,

the Chief will never

dispatch you there.

Think it through.

Su Wei...

Li Qingyang!

[Star-Gathering Pavilion]

[Ministry of War Roster] [Su Wei]

Going to Mingling County to find someone?

I thought you were going to catch bugs.

In a sea of people,

do you think it's easier to find a person

or a bug?

Save it.

With your current physical condition,

it's a question whether you'll even survive the search.

Tell me,

even if

I find this Su Wei

from back then

and force him to tell everything about what happened,

will Father

release my eldest brother?

My disciple...

Actually, you already

know the answer,

don't you?

You already know the answer.

[Su Wei]

[Divine Constable Bureau]

In Mingling County, Qingzhou,

a green-haired demon suddenly appeared on Mount Fuyao.

Its appearance is terrifying, and its movements are mysterious.

It digs up graves, unearths corpses,

picks bones, and eats carrion.

Green-haired demon.

The magistrate of Mingling County

is quite good at naming things.

Previously,

similar cases had been reported.

They were mostly

baseless rumors

and nonsense from people

scaring themselves.

Let the local officials

investigate it further.

Chief,

please look closely.

This case is very uncanny

and by no means ordinary.

What's uncanny about it?

A demon with green hair?

Reporting to the Chief,

I asked Constable Li

to bring up this case.

But investigating the case is not the main purpose.

Then what is it?

It's...

To recuperate.

You may not know, Chief.

Since I was injured,

I've been deeply troubled and restless.

Mingling County

is my ancestral home.

For some reason, I suddenly...

felt a bit homesick.

I didn't know that.

In that case, your health takes precedence.

Take your time there.

Relax and rest well.

As for the green-haired demon,

leave it to the local officials.

Thank you, Chief.

Then I'll go too.

Li Qingyang.

Yes.

Recently, the Ministry of Justice

is going to shut down some underground banks.

Assist them on the side.

You don't need to take the lead,

but you need to be there.

As a newly appointed Divine Constable,

this task

is perfect for you.

But...

It's settled.

You may all leave.

Chief...

Chief.

Constable Ghost hasn't fully recovered yet.

I am willing to accompany him

to facilitate his treatment.

Alright.

Who else?

Come in and say it all at once.

Chief.

What is it?

Have you forgotten, Chief?

While Mr. Meng has been recovering,

all the fieldwork cases

have fallen on me alone.

Didn't you promise

that after this matter,

you would give me some time off?

That is true.

I forgot when I got busy.

Then I grant you half a month's leave.

Thank you, Chief.

So I'm the only one left.

Congratulations on your successful mutation, My Lord.

What about the others?

My Lord, your talent is extraordinary.

How can mere people compare?

The current success rate is less than ten percent.

And even those who have mutated

may experience

sudden death.

Go capture more people...

Go capture more people.

I want people.

I want demons!

Only a sufficiently powerful army

can be invincible!

Yes.
