Colombia. Her beauty will draw you in,
but this is going to be quite sketchy.
I really don't think there's anywhere that's safe.
This is absolutely not where I expected to be a few months ago,
as I was actually scheduled to be getting married tomorrow.
And my wonderful fiancรฉ said,
"What wedding? We'll move everything back,
we're gonna make this happen."
So, instead of getting married tomorrow,
I'm actually going to be naked with a stranger,
marching off into the jungle.
So, we'll see how that goes.
I'm just not sure anybody can survive here for 21 days.
Oh, my God.
Run. Go, go, go, go.
Oh, God.
Twenty-one days.
Don't tap.
Die first.
This is an absolute harsh environment.
I'm excited.
Get me in there now!
Let's go.
I've done survival training throughout my whole career.
So I have pushed myself to the limits.
I can make all different types of traps.
The reason why I'm doing this challenge,
is I really want to test myself.
I want to see if I actually have got the mental fortitude
to survive 21 days, totally stripped back.
Let's do it.
Steven has spent over two decades
adapting to life or death situations around the world.
But he has never been in a survival situation
without the material support of the British military.
Steven's initial primitive survival rating, or PSR,
is set at 7.0.
A few months ago, I was trying on my wedding dresses,
and now I'm getting naked in the Colombian jungle.
I would consider myself a survivalist.
I have always been an outdoors girl.
I'm most passionate about being in the wilderness.
It's just the only way to really be centered with yourself,
without any external distractions.
We've become really removed from nature itself.
And it's just something about grounding back with Mother Nature.
A lot of my skills that I'm using are all self-taught,
fire starting, being able to recognize and foraging edible plants and berries.
I'm taking on this 21-day challenge,
as I have seemed to lost the ability
to just be in the moment and present at home.
I seem to have my mind divided many places.
Being here is going to remind me how to actually just be present,
focus on the task.
Because being in the outdoors, that is what brings me the most peace.
Time to even out the tan.
Sunny is an independent spirit,
who's used to taking her adventures alone.
But will her survival strategies fit in
with a take-charge Commando as a partner?
Sunny begins with a PSR of 6.2.
- Hey! - Hey, you all right?
- How are you? - Good.
Another crazy person in the jungle naked.
-Oh, gosh. I'm Sunny. -I'm Steven.
-Steven, nice to meet you. -Nice to meet you, where abouts are you from?
Canada, and yourself?
- England. - England? Oh.
Are you ready for this?
Yeah, it seems like perfect timing.
It's starting to come down.
Dude, your legs are so bad.
Oh, my gosh.
Well, thank you.
They're taking you, not me.
-All right. -Let's get our bags.
All right.
Nice.
Oh, she's beautiful.
We're good to go.
I'm really excited about this one.
- Big mosquito net. - Absolutely.
I can understand why you're excited for that.
Yeah.
In addition to their personal items,
Sunny and Steven have also been given a pot
and a fire starter.
I've got the famous map.
You've got the map.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Okay. I think as long as we're not too close to the water,
because obviously the mosquitoes.
-Yeah, yeah. -But close enough, I think that's fine.
-Let's rock and roll. Let's go. -Let's do it!
For their survival challenge,
Sunny and Steven will be severely tested
on the boggy swampland of Colombia's Pantano Yucao.
The vegetation is dense,
the jungle floor is littered with piercing thorns
and tall grasses cut like scalpels.
It's the rainy season,
daily temperatures in the mid-90s
combine with frequent rainstorms
to create a steamy, humid,
mosquito-infested environment,
that is the worst the tropics have to offer.
You've got to be careful where you put your feet everywhere,
'cause it's a damp, wet location.
Snakes, scorpions, spiders.
I hate the spiders.
Steven and Sunny will have to be on constant alert,
living in an area that is home to fiercely aggressive wild boars...
six-foot-long caiman...
freshwater stingrays with venomous barbs
that can easily penetrate human skin.
And elusive 200-pound puma,
whose large teeth and bursts of speed up to 50 miles per hour
make it the region's apex predator.
How old are you?
I'm 33. You?
33? I'm 37.
Okay.
You got little ones or...
Yeah. I've got a daughter who's 15 this year.
- Oh, wow. - 15 going on 20.
She's 15 going...
That's... man, you'll have to give me advice.
I've got a two-year-old daughter.
- Oh, awesome. - Yeah.
So what do you do?
I just started my own digital media company.
- Oh, awesome. - Yeah.
What is your background?
So I'm in the military.
Oh, that's brilliant. I am so pumped.
Yeah. I've been serving now 21 years.
In what field of the military?
- I'm a Commando. - Commando.
Okay. So, are you married then?
Yeah. I got married, actually, last Saturday.
No way. Congratulations.
Yeah. This is my honeymoon.
My fiancรฉ canceled our wedding,
which was supposed to be tomorrow, so I could be here.
That's commitment.
So we're both like...
We're very confused honeymooners. apparently, at this point.
So far, my partner, Sunny, I think she's a really good girl.
We're both parents.
She's about to get married.
I've just recently got married. Around the same age.
This is absolutely crazy.
What does your fiancรฉ think about you doing this?
My fiancรฉ, Jordan, his honest reaction was, like, good luck to him.
He was, like... just no concern,
uh,
in that sense.
There are electric eels in this area,
and I don't want to step on one by accident.
I'm excited to get out of this area, to be honest.
-It's not a good area, is it? -No.
So it looks like we might be coming up to that clearing on the map.
- You good? -It's a big step. Yeah.
- Anything stuck in there? - Nah.
Okay.
Oh. The Colombian sun.
I'm sweating so profusely.
It's just so hot.
Yeah.
Oh, my gosh. Look at this.
You see, to the right here?
Yeah.
That might be what we're looking for from our map.
Wow. This is just absolute paradise.
-Nice that, isn't it? -It's so nice.
100% because...
For shelter?
Resources for building are going to be out there. That's 100%.
-We'll get our water source. Let's go and do it. -All right.
Okay.
Team honeymoon.
Let's go.
This has got a lot of cover,
still quite close to the water, though.
I think though...
Yeah, as long as it's not like an obvious game trail,
because of the pigs, right?
I don't want to be caught in the middle of those.
Yeah, I like it.
Steven is perfect.
I was asked who the best partner I could ask for would be.
And I just said absolutely military,
older the better, because their crankier
and they're just better at giving direction.
So, we pretty much hit the ball out of the park on this one.
How are you feeling for water?
I want to get a fire going
and start sterilizing some water as we do a camp.
- Done. - Done. Teamwork.
The teamwork between Sunny and I is coming on really well.
She's a strong girl.
So it's all good.
Okay.
What?
Do you have the knife?
Okay, I got your spear.
Let's get dinner.
Holy crap.
I got your spear!
Let's get dinner.
You think it could have been a pig?
Yeah, it could've been a pig.
Those pigs are so fast.
Oh! Where did it go?
There's so many little trails though.
Yeah. Yeah.
All right. So, to the first fire of many,
and the success of our 21-day challenge.
Now that we have a fire, it's going to be important
to maintain our water supply so we don't get dehydrated.
I can't wait for that drink.
You go first. You go first.
Oh, drumroll please.
Stop, stop.
Okay, go.
-How is it? -Mmm...
It's so good!
Oh, my God.
Whoo! Day one!
Yeah.
We have to hurry.
The mosquitoes are absolutely everywhere.
That's where our fire pit is and you can just hear...
you can just hear the rain.
I want to say sweet dreams to the partner back home
who made all this possible.
You know, I'm absolutely thriving in life,
and that's because of you.
I miss you a lot.
Sweet dreams, babe.
And see you soon.
-All right. Night. -Night.
Oh, my God. It's miserable.
Hi.
I got my Englishman a little bit of peppermint tea.
- Awesome. - So you have tea.
And I got rocks for the fire pit,
and I got you a stone to sharpen your blade.
- Brilliant. - And a fire starter.
So, Steven, you know, obviously he misses his tea.
And lucky enough, I've actually just found peppermint,
so I'm really excited to be able to, like,
bring it to him and offer him English tea.
It's an unexpected, wonderful surprise.
Because you are the Englishman and this was a goal of ours,
you have to take the first sip of our...
quickly made... it hasn't quite steeped.
But, you have to take a sip of our charcoal peppermint tea.
Oh!
Happy boy?
Peppermint tea in the middle of the jungle.
Day two, baby, day two.
What's funny, me, as an Englishman, I do love a cup of tea,
and my wife, Jennifer, brings me a cup of tea on a daily basis.
And I always love them.
Today, Sunny walks in with peppermint,
So that's just lifted my morale.
Instead of just drinking hot water,
I'm going to drink peppermint tea,
like a proper Englishman in the Colombian jungle.
Okay.
Have a drink.
Cheers.
Even the stuff on the fire is so wet, I hear it like,
sizzling the moisture out of it.
The first night in Colombia, we had a tropical rainstorm,
so you didn't get much sleep.
The priority right now is getting that roof above our heads,
get the beds built because I'd rather lie in a bed
instead of in slush and mud on the floor.
Do you need anything before I go run to go get the roof stuff?
Okay.
Right now, my biggest concern definitely is the shelter.
I'm actually going to be heading back to where we entered from.
And there's a bunch of long grass available, and I'm hoping to use that
for sleeping mats,
use that for our roofing, just to help with the rain.
Well, hello!
I got shingling!
Yeah.
...for our roof, and especially for our fire shelter...
...the fire was on the verge of going out.
But it feels like the weather is changing.
- Perfect timing to do the fire shelter, hey? - -Mmm.
All right, so, I've got...
plenty now to finish
- the platform for the bed. - -Yeah.
Cool.
All right, Sunny, I've made the bed.
Go and check that out. Grass is on there.
Oh, my gosh.
I don't know if I'm gonna get up after... I'm not getting up.
- It's cozy, innit? - Good night.
This is amazing.
Today was a great day.
We've got our shelter, our fire is protected.
So I have a feeling we're probably just gonna pass out.
The night was awesome last night. I had a really good sleep.
You're gonna go hunting?
Yeah. I'm gonna see if I can get us some fish or stingray.
-See you in a minute. -See you later.
Ta-ra, ta-ra.
Ta-ra, ta-ra.
...cayman, stingray, and electric eel.
This morning, my goal is to work on the shelter.
I'm already seeing huge holes in the walls.
So, this is wind block and, then, using the roof
to keep it at the height that I want.
I've got a bunch of side panels, and this is gonna prevent wind,
this is gonna help trap in that heat.
I can see the big fish everywhere.
Yes!
Yes!
That a guy!
Yeah!
Got a bit of animal, bit of protein.
Yes!
Sunny!
Hey!
Oh, my God!
Got it in one try.
- Come get your high five. - -So I'm making the fish soup.
And it doesn't even take long.
I'm so proud of Steven, his moment.
Catching those minnows without having a fish basket
and just using what was on him
is the best feeling ever.
Oh, amazing!
- Yeah! -Oh, my God! First meat!
It's only three of them, but it's still such a win.
Okay, so, like, see? It's the dark gray and, then, that silver.
You can tell that it's cooked.
All right. You should do the honors of taking it off the fire.
-Cheers. -Cheers!
My fish are that big.
But I will get a little bit of protein, and vitamins, and oils, and omegas.
That is good. I can taste loads of salt, as well.
Like, I didn't think I'd miss tasting salt so quickly.
- Yeah. - That's the best part of it.
-Like an albacore? -Yeah, it was just... It was amazing.
-It wasn't only three. It was fish. -Yeah. Yeah.
You did it.
-Yeah. -And you've never done that before?
Nah. I was just catching fish by hand.
Best feeling ever.
This morning, hunger, it's hitting.
This is just the start,
and I know it's just gonna get harder.
We have these moriche trees around here, and their nuts are edible.
It can tide us over until we can catch something to eat.
Moriche palm fruit and their nuts are high in vitamin C
and are used to make juice, jam, and even fermented wine.
Steven has been working incredibly hard for us,
so to be able to provide for me and my partner, it means a lot to me.
Come on, that is really good.
It tastes like jam.
- That's right. Like fig jam. - Hmm.
Thank you very much.
You're welcome.
I can start feeling my energy massively dropping.
I think my body is running at 60%.
I can use these vines to make cordage for his fish basket.
Holy . Oh, God.
Oh,.
I just got stung by three hornets.
One in the corner of my eye.
Two on my arm, one on my rib.
But, yeah, those got a good little bite to them.
It feels like, almost, when I broke my nose. Like, it's...
It's a lot.
But it is what it is.
We've only got so many hours and we need a fish basket,
so I can worry about it and cry about it later.
Oh, man. I just got stung by three hornets.
That is painful.
That was not fun.
Being stung by hornets is a huge deal.
Depending on the types of hornets,
that could actually be fatal.
I'm really, really, really lucky
that I'm not medically tapped right now, and that I'm still standing here.
Stay away from there.
Thanks, Tips.
Yeah, baby!
Got two baskets, small one and a big one.
The fish goes inside.
I've got loads of spikes on the inside,
so the fish goes in there, gets stuck at the very end,
and doesn't wanna turn around.
And I'm hoping, fingers crossed,
there's a big catfish in there later.
And if we catch a catfish,
we know that's a good food source.
And we know that's a priority, then, to make a couple of more baskets.
Yeah.
I don't need to go looking for land animals when I've got fish there.
Why waste my energy hunting, stalking, building traps,
when I've got fish swimming right next to me?
So, fingers crossed, it works.
Let's go.
Steve.
There's something rattling in the bushes.
It sounds like something coming out of the water.
Oh, my God.
We're out here alone. The mosquito net does not give us
a lot of safety.
Got the knife?
I've got your six, I'm watching this bush.
My God.
Oh, my God.
Holy!
Oh, my God.
It's just charcoal and ash.
Last night was really scary, actually.
I was actually concerned that this could spread to be a forest fire
because there's a lot of dead brush around us.
So, there was new dry stuff that could have caught.
Luckily, though, there was no wind.
Steven handled it like a champ.
He knew what he was doing and he took care of it.
Yeah.
-A million percent before we get wet. -Come on.
Being on this challenge, it is relentless.
It's hardcore.
The insects don't stop. Every one wants to bite your ass.
-Your favorite weather's coming in. -Yeah.
I like the wind, though. It keeps the insects from biting me.
Yeah.
Nothing.
Reality's definitely hitting.
There's still two weeks left of the challenge.
We've got to get food because, otherwise, we're both in trouble.
Yeah, before the rain hits.
I'm gonna move it in a different spot and put it in a shaded area
where I can see a lot of fish closer to my shelter,
so I'm not walking out further every day.
We have the thunder and the lightning right above our heads.
Our fire just went out within, like, two seconds.
The wood, it's all sitting out in the rain.
It's useless at this point. It's not processed.
So, that means that him and I are gonna have to get up once the sun is up,
and the rain, if it's continuing,
drag all the wood in, process it,
'cause this could last a few days.
My legs are cold and freezing, and this is how hypothermia could happen,
is just either one of us out in the cold.
And we haven't eaten anything.
I can't warm up.
It rained pretty hard last night.
Everything's soaked.
Firewood is my priority today.
We're gonna dry out all our woods and dry out our shelter area.
Warm up a little bit.
And, then, I'm gonna try to collect as much firewood as I can.
The night storms, they're hitting me.
I was bone cold. I was shivering.
I'll take the knife.
This is serious for me.
This could take me out of the challenge.
- See you in a bit. - -See you in a minute.
I've just gotta keep an eye on her,
making sure she's okay.
- Oh, my God. - What is it?
Cat tracks.
It's big and it's close to our shelter.
Crap.
We have a puma on site.
It's something we need to be cautious of.
We're gonna have to be watching our backs,
because for every puma you see, nine have seen you.
And they could come any time.
That's really scary.
We just need to be on our guard now.
There's something by our watering hole.
And it started upriver, and it's been getting closer, and you can hear it.
And, like, there's a strong, musky smell
that just gets stronger and stronger.
Like, it reeks of musk.
And it's coming right by our shelter.
Hey, hey.
Hey.
Oi! Oi!
Get out!
It's a puma.
It's... it's coming back.
Get out!
Oi!
Get out!
Get out!
I think it's gone.
That's what I was smelling.
It was so close, just...
Absolutely terrifying.
So tired. I didn't sleep at all.
That was absolutely terrifying.
We know there's a puma in this area.
Couldn't sleep last night 'cause of it.
I was up all night then, just tossing and turning
thinking that something's gonna try and eat my head off.
A puma is an apex predator, and only an apex predator
will come up to human beings not bothered.
So, that was quite...
That animal was comfortable enough to come close up towards
and lean into the side of our shelter to sniff us.
That's really scary.
Think before we go to bed, we can get a big-ass fire on?
Yeah.
And just let it smolder and flame all night.
And if we hear anything, we can always put more sticks on it.
- Yeah. - And that's it.
Instead of we letting it just go down to smolder--
- And, then, we're panicking to get a fire. - Yeah.
Yeah.
Last night was a reminder that there are pumas in this area,
and it's so dangerous.
Emotionally draining.
It's brutal out here.
It's the hardest challenge you could ever do.
Oh, yes.
We are the only people in this area, but there's so much wildlife.
And they're getting used to us now,
so they're quite comfortable coming into our area,
and that is scary in a jungle I'm not familiar with.
That's definitely enough for tonight.
-More than enough tonight. -Yeah.
So, it's two o'clock in the morning.
We've got a little bit of a flame to just keep the wildlife away.
We're pretty vulnerable behind the mosquito net.
We're kind of just, like, wrapped burritos at this point.
Hmm.
It's gonna be a long night.
Damn, most of my hands and my feet are, like, really cold.
That means, yeah, my body is in a fight or flight
kind of response.
-Yeah. -I'm just kind of in a really vulnerable place.
- You hungry? - I'm starving.
My fatigue... You know, right now I'm gonna say
it feels like it's a nine,
but I'm sure in five days, if we don't have protein,
I'm really gonna know what a ten feels like.
Okay.
I've never felt so extremely vulnerable.
I did not expect my body to already be failing me.
Coming into the challenge,
I thought, you know, I'm gonna be hungry.
I'm gonna be fatigued.
And now I'm realizing every day how dangerous
this place is.
This is harder than I imagined.
But I have to remind myself to do what I came here to do,
which is learning to be present.
I don't know how I'm gonna do it.
Hold on.
I'm having a hard time breathing.
Okay. That was weird.
Ugh.
Holy crap.
I can't breathe.
Yeah, it's fine if I go like this.
But just trying to... talk, I'm just out of breath.
I don't wanna have to go home.
Holy crap.
I can't breathe.
You all right, Sunny?
Yeah.
Dizzy spells again?
Not dizzy. I couldn't breathe.
-All right. Tomorrow you're having a day off. -But...
-You go down into the shelter. -Uh, thank you.
My body is definitely slowing down.
My mind is slowing down.
And I'm realizing every day how dangerous this place is.
And I need to really put myself in safer positions.
Are you having breathing problem today?
Yeah. All of a sudden, it was like
my whole chest, like, I just couldn't breathe.
It wasn't painful. I wasn't dizzy.
I just...
-Like... -You wanna have a little lie down in a minute?
And I'll get... I'll get dinner.
I'll just sit in the boma.
She needs me more than I need her.
Uh, so I just wanna support her.
But she is suffering massively.
So what it is, what it is. It's a survival challenge.
We're not in a five-star luxury hotel.
I just can't seem to get a breath.
-Do we need to get a medic in, just to check you? -No, no, it's fine.
I'd already checked my heart rate,
like, like my pulse is a little weak,
but that's just fluid level and...
Heart rate's fine.
So... Yeah.
I'm only doing a medic if my core temperature drops,
otherwise they can drag me out by my teeth.
Yeah.
- Yeah. - -Which is good to see.
Not being on death's door.
I'm like, "Oh, God, she's gonna die on me,
- I can see her bones." But you're full of life today,
...which is good to see and nice to see.
-We've still got 11 days. -Okay.
And that's a long, long time.
So I'm gonna go down and check the fish basket.
Fingers crossed.
There's even a little minnow in there or something.
And then from there,
I'm gonna go and look for some kind of food, maybe find a mango tree.
-I'm starving. -Mmm-hmm.
Yeah.
I got a full night's sleep last night,
so I feel much better.
-I'll see you later. -Happy hunting.
Have a good day.
As of today, now I know it was sleep deprivation
that was really impacting my abilities. Emotionally,
today is a turning point.
Come on, give me some fish.
No luck.
A disappointment that there's no fish.
Took me two days making that basket,
and I was hoping to have at least one fish.
So it is a kick in the nuts.
But I need some food for me and my partner.
I need to go and check out what else we've got in the area.
And you never know, I might come across a mango tree
and that would be worth the trek.
That's disheartening.
Disheartening.
So, let's see.
I wanna go around the whole lake.
I would love it if I just came across a mango tree.
Juicy mango, come on.
What are these?
I want a mango.
I want a mango!
I'm not seein' nothin'.
Let's keep lookin'.
I'm looking for fruit
or any signs of the easy wildlife
I can just whack and hit.
Any... Any ground birds.
This is not nice to walk in.
Freaks me out that they're gonna spring out and get me.
This is definitely snake country, and I'm myself.
The grass was up to me head.
Day ten. One bite sets me off the challenge.
This is a stupid idea.
But I need some food now.
It'll be worth it.
This is risky, really risky.
I just wanna make sure that there's cool water
for Steve when he gets back.
Yeah, smoldering out here is very different.
Back home, uh, normally, you can wake up...
with a fire and it'll light right away,
but everything is so humid.
Um, even if you keep your sticks out of the rain,
they're always absorbing moisture.
So It's definitely interesting to learn.
Bastards.
So as I walk around the whole area,
I haven't seen one snake.
I've looked for mangoes.
I've looked for different fruits.
I haven't seen nothing.
But what I do know
is there is a food source next to our shelter.
I don't need to be wasting me energy.
I just need to be smarter.
I've got a mosquito net.
I can cut that down in half...
and use it as a net.
I need proper protein,
so if she's using it as a blanket,
I wanna use it as a fishing net.
You all right, Sunny?
- Anything? - Eh.
Just out there.
- Yeah. - -And it's a distance,
I went all the way round.
- Well, I've got a suggestion. - I've got your water.
Thank you. But here's my suggestion...
Okay.
I went everywhere today, and it's nothing.
- There's nothing. - Yeah.
I couldn't see one snake.
The fish basket's not working.
Now, I wanna know what you feel.
But we can...
This mosquito net's big enough to cut in half.
And we make a net and we get in that water every day
and just scoop loads of...
-Do you need that to wrap up in? -Yeah.
- Shelter is number one, so to compromise the shelter... - -Mmm-hmm.
...to compromise my potential core temperature,
on, like, really bad days
for something that's not a need and it's a want.
I think it will be a need.
100%. Uh, the extraction.
So we'll need the energy. I don't think we're gonna get enough calories.
For Steve, he's okay. He's feeling warm.
It's my body who can't handle the cold.
So it's my responsibility to make sure that I stay warm.
It is very serious for me.
This is what ends up happening for medical tap-outs.
There's hundreds of fish in there
and, well, we can go in there every day together,
scoop up...
And we hit... We don't need to take loads off it, just...
Just a square.
But I'm kind of getting the end of the stick.
It's... It's a sliver, a sliver.
A sliver.
I... I can guarantee if I got some fish,
your smile will be like...
Just a square off.
It's a sliver.
Ah.
Okay.
So hold it right here?
Yeah, 'cause I don't wanna to take it any further now.
We need that mosquito net to get some food.
One last cut.
This makes more sense than using it as a blanket.
It is 50-50, isn't it?
At the end of the day, half the mosquito net's mine.
And I wrap my side.
- And just twisted it on itself a little bit. - -Yeah.
Initially, I wanted to worry about shelter,
but the mosquito net, we want to use it as a fish net,
so I'm not too upset about it.
I might as well try it.
Okay.
Yeah... That's it, yeah.
Let's go.
We're gonna go get fish.
Let's do it.
You can see the fish actually moving past here.
Loads of them as well.
Kind of a big one right here, too.
-Yeah, lots here. -Yeah.
We... We'll get in the open
-'cause you see loads of them that go past us. -Perfect.
Only a bit further.
What we are lackin' in is protein and fat, massively.
But I am hoping there's some fish in there.
Yeah, I see there's some big ones now.
- Ideal. So should we go here? - Yup.
Now, where are the bigger ones?
A little bit deeper for the bigger ones.
A bit closer to you.
There's one. Big ones in. Lift it.
- Ah. - me.
You can see the fish.
There's one. Big ones in. Lift it.
Ah.
me.
Maybe get some minnows instead of big ones.
You know, even if we get 50, it's still a decent dinner.
Yeah.
So you got a huge patch by you.
Do you wanna bring the net a little bit closer to you?
Mmm.
Nice and slow.
- Look at that! Whoo! - Yes!
Yes! Come on.
Exactly what we needed.
- We can easily get 50 of these. - -Oh, we got-- Yeah.
Sunny is happy with the fishnet now
when she realized this is a very, very good idea.
That's a nice one.
I'm excited. I'm pumped.
It's actually one of the best decisions we've made as a team.
Here we go.
- You're gonna get your 50. - Yes!
-Oh, lady! -Oh, lady!
Riki-chiki-chamba!
Riki-chiki-chamba!
Maka-maka-mora!
Roca-roca-mora!
Oh, thank you, Mother Colombia.
Thank you.
So that's gonna be one bite.
It's gonna be one big bite.
I just squashed them all together. I can't wait.
So we squashed all the minnows to a ball,
so it's just enough for a good bite,
wrapped 'em in a leaf and cooked them on the embers.
There's my dinner all wrapped up.
I'm gonna just dig a little hole in the coals here...
and I wanna leave it for... for a little bit.
This is a massive game changer.
It's gonna give us the protein, the omega oils,
the fat, what we need to carry on with this challenge.
It's just a massive morale boost. Proper meat.
Here's my little sushi packet.
Whoo!
I can just see the condensation in there.
So everything is still moist.
It feels hot.
Oh, yeah, she's steaming.
There we go.
- Wow. - You can see it.
Just cooked fish.
All right.
So, dinner tonight,
this is a huge celebration for us on the halfway mark.
Um, it's just a game changer morale wise.
Um, hot, hot, hot.
Come on, big bite. You ready?
Holy... Mmm-hmm.
That tastes so good.
- Such a win today. - Oh, my God!
-Okay. -Yeah.
That was so good.
That was so yummy.
That was, yeah.
Oh, my God. Okay.
Oh!
Mmm.
Flash flood.
Yeah.
Um...
But, uh...
It was really bad last night. We had a...
Just blowing all night and I'm freezing.
Last night, I think it took almost all the calories I had left,
'cause this morning, my bones are cold.
Like, I am...
I feel like I'm in a building with AC on right now.
If anything is going to take me out, take Steve out,
it's the weather.
It keeps changing on us and it's severe changes.
It will drop by ten degrees in 30 seconds at night.
It's a struggle out here. Absolutely.
Everything's wet.
These logs, I wanna dry 'em out.
Soon as I got this fire stable,
- we need to boil water. - Okay.
It was absolutely rough.
The worst night we've had since we've been here.
All our dry wood is wet,
so it's gonna be hard work today
to keep the fire going.
Oh, man...
This sucks.
We're gonna get the fire going in a minute.
How are you feeling?
Mentally, I'm 1,000% in,
- but physically, my body is shutting down. - -Yeah.
I've got a headache. I'm feeling really sick.
I'll just take one day
and I'll be right back out there.
I really think she's struggling.
She can't cope with the cold.
Your body's got a lot more in it than your mind thinks.
Because your mind's always in survival mode.
It wants to stop.
So you gotta be able to control your mind.
Okay. Can't be in direct sun, but need to be warm.
There's some shade. We'll go right there.
But she let her mind take over and stops instantly.
Boomshakalaka.
You see, everything's damp.
Look, even that's damp. It's not really going off.
The best way I can describe how I'm feeling
is, like, I've been put in, like,
a 90-year-old lady's old, frail body.
Just like my... my energy and my vitality
just does not match what my body can do right now.
No fire all night.
Bit cold, bit chilly.
Wet.
It took me around three hours to get that fire goin' again.
I can see all the water.
All... All the juices and that 'cause everything's damp.
My feet are cold right now, and my hands are cold.
Oh, that's a good fire.
No around.
Get back to boiling water, catch some fish.
Pass me spear.
eel.
-Pass me that spear. -Coming, coming, coming, coming.
Where is it?
Come on, Sunny. Come on.
See this face there popping on?
I'm coming. Coming, coming, coming, coming.
I'll get the knife.
Remember, keep your distance.
Let me get a visual.
So I don't think they swim off
'cause there's no murk, so it's hiding in here.
Just give it a second.
He was just sitting there like smiling at me.
We haven't really been looking for the big game.
'Cause Sunny is wastin' away.
I need to get some protein in her ASAP.
We need a big one.
You know, we got our minnows. That's our staple.
But it might not give us enough protein
to extract these miles out of this area.
There's a very high chance it could be so bad,
- I just physically can't cross the line. - -Yeah.
Without a big win,
I think Day 21 is gonna be a little bit intimidating.
Yeah, it's gonna be tough,
so we need to get some protein in us ASAP.
I'll make a sprung cage one today.
Yeah.
Yup.
We need to focus more over hunting and trapping.
That minnow was that big.
A ground bird, it's that big.
So having a decent chicken breast
will be a big win at the minute.
So I'm building a cage.
My goal is to gain as many calories
and make as much reserves as I can.
We're getting so close to the finish line,
but we have to be very careful.
This is when people make mistakes.
I'm gonna make some sort of trap
using, like, a basket style,
a bit like a fish basket, but a bit more flatter.
An animal comes in.
Locked in.
I've got a bit of a walk with this now.
Be safe.
- Okay. - I'll get the water on for you right now.
Yeah.
- And I'll keep fishing throughout the day. - -Yeah.
So I'm prioritizing getting food every day,
whether it be fishing or moriche nuts.
And I'm just trying not to put a lot of pressure on him
'cause if I'm telling him, "I need this
and I don't think I can cross the finish line
and I'm relying on you..."
Jeez Louise.
You know, I don't want him to feel
like he's failing his partner
'cause I think he would take that as a really hard hit.
Just a little snack to keep us goin'.
The sun's beating down on me.
There's no shade, but I do know
that animals are gonna be rife in that area.
I know that there's, uh, iguana there.
I know there's snakes. I know there's birds.
Whereas where we're staying
animals are staying away from us
'cause we're making too much noise and movement.
Get a grip.
Come on.
easy.
It's a mile here.
I'm dehydrated, I'm fatigued.
And I haven't had a substantial bit of food.
It's going right here.
Yeah, that was tough.
heat.
On Day 21, we need a win to make it to extraction.
So it needs to work.
I need water after that.
Now I'm gonna go and check the traps,
so fingers crossed we have got something.
I'm ready to eat dinner tonight.
-100%. -Let's go.
-You got this. -Need to feed you.
I am listening for that war cry,
and I'll cry back to you in success.
Make sure you drink that water.
Okay, I will.
You're gonna do amazing.
- Come on. - Whoo!
I think Steven is the best partner that I could ask for.
It's about a mile walk, and it gets hot right away in the day.
He could burn out just by going and checking those traps.
I wouldn't go and check it myself
because it's honestly just too much of a calorie burn for me.
If there's not anything in there,
it's gonna feel like a kick in the nuts.
I'm hoping for some sort of decent sized rodent
or a snake.
I'm hoping for something that's gonna give us
enough calories to get us out of this.
Looks like the trap's been tripped.
It's a massive iguana.
Yes!
bastards!
So now I feel emotional, but...
I'm so happy just for Sunny now.
I felt like I put so much pressure on myself
to catch something.
I'm sorry, little man, but you're gonna get stomped in the head.
I'm really sorry.
This is gonna get Sunny out on the extraction.
I don't know why it made me emotional.
Lot of meat there.
That is heavy.
Hey.
Oh, my God!
First talk of a challenge, it's happening.
Oh, my God.
-Oh. -Yes!
-Ah. -Oh, my God.
You got what you wanted.
-Let me sit down. -Okay.
I'm gonna get you water.
Fire's on.
-You did it. -Okay, well.
Just got emotional back there.
Oh, my gosh.
Day 17, and I feel like I have achieved me goals.
- You finally did it. - Hmm.
Seventeen days.
I don't get emotional.
Stone Cold Steve, me wife calls me.
- Yeah. - -It's a big win, though.
Rotisserie, rotisserie.
I'm gonna cook it to a charcoal, so I don't get sick.
The legs will definitely, like, if the skin is singed,
the legs will definitely be fully cooked.
But I can see all the... the juices bubbling
through the skin now, which is a good sign.
So one more fist pump, though.
Dude, you nailed it.
You did amazing.
We both have. We both nailed it.
I've never had lizard before.
tastes like chicken.
hell.
Oh, that was amazing.
Oh, yeah.
Ah, them clouds are coming in.
You want me to start breaking small twigs for the fire?
100%.
Okay, we got this
if we need it as a wind block for the shelter tonight.
I'm just focusing on getting as much insulation as possible
'cause even when it doesn't rain,
the wind and the temperature drops are very significant.
It looks like the rain is moving in fast.
I'm actually scared
that it just rains all the way through till tomorrow.
Almost hyperventilating.
Sunny is very cold.
She's emotional as well.
So... Last night, we got rained into the shelter
around three o'clock in the afternoon
and we couldn't leave.
But I think I'm just feeling, like, really drained
'cause I'm just really...
I'm going through it right now.
So my body's just really fatigued.
Emotionally fatigued.
I would be on my honeymoon.
And, honestly, I wanna get home
and I wanna be healthy, and I wanna be happy,
and I wanna be energetic, not be on my deathbed.
Day 20. We had iguana yesterday.
I think that's enough calories for us.
I don't need to be slaughterin' any more animals.
Gonna be my last time checkin' the fish basket.
I'm just gonna be repurposing it.
I'll make some shoes for extraction.
It's been an amazing challenge
and, uh, yeah, lookin' forward to gettin' to the end.
But Sunny's on her last legs. Uh...
The iguana gave her a little boost.
Now she's, uh, massively struggling.
I don't know how she's gonna get to on a hike,
but I'll make sure she gets out of there in one piece.
I stripped my, uh, fish basket down
and there was enough vines on there
to make my shoes and Sunny's.
Now there is a sole.
Just keep weaving and that will be solid.
So we're making the shoes like little snow shoe
and we're getting these on top of it.
And they're brilliant.
Made one.
It's like walkin' on a cloud.
Then we're going to lash it up with all our mosquito net.
I've got enough vines on me basket to make another three shoes.
Let's go for our extraction.
Really happy the fact that I've used
something I've made what weren't effective
to make something what's gonna be effective
for me to walk out of this jungle.
Suck it up.
Sunny.
-You all right? -Um...
I almost passed out on my face
trying to drink the water.
I laid down.
I was gonna sit up to get more water,
and I almost passed out again.
I'm feeling absolutely vulnerable and terrified
'cause I'm so close to the finish line.
And I don't know if I'm gonna be able to do tomorrow.
We got fresh water from the rain for the first time,
so I'm just gonna make my rain catcher.
Been wanting to do this for the last ten days.
Because if I catch rainwater, I can drink it straight off.
So we're not wasting a lot of time
collecting water, boiling water,
waiting for it to cool down.
This is gonna cut our time in half.
Dude, that's amazing.
- You heard me. - That's the coolest thing I've ever seen.
- You're brilliant. - It's creative.
Man... Oh, man, I'm so pumped for that.
Oh, Steve's got a rain catcher.
I'm feeling absolutely vulnerable and terrified
'cause I'm so close to the finish line.
And I don't know if I'm gonna be able to do tomorrow.
Don't worry, Sunny. We got this.
We're gonna rest today.
Twenty-four hours.
There's only so much my body can handle,
and this environment is extremely tough,
and I'm definitely at the end of my rope.
It's Day 20. Extraction's tomorrow.
But physically, I actually don't know if I can make it.
Come on, Sunny. You got this.
Get some water in you. I'll boil some more water.
Come on, mate. Well done.
All right, chug this and I'm gonna get another pot on.
Just think how proud Jordan and Miana are gonna be
when you march out tomorrow.
Getting dragged along by the skin of your teeth.
Twenty-four hours. I just need 24 hours.
I'm just... I'm just a rough Commando
who can tell me mind, "Sit back on."
I think, uh, my partnership with Sunny, we have grown...
We have grown massively.
The more I've seen her suffer
and what she's going through,
I feel like, uh, we've grown massively as a team.
I just really hope, like, I just physically can...
force it through tomorrow.
If you get tapped on Day 21 when we're walking out,
I will give you for the rest of your life.
I will terrorize you like the first person
to be tapped on Day 21.
The only concern is if Sunny doesn't finish,
that means I haven't done well as a team member.
I can't sleep.
Getting close to the end now.
I'm starting to think about me wife, Jenny...
and my daughter Chloe.
I'll be home very soon.
All right.
-Extraction, Day 21. -Mmm-hmm.
We've got a big distance. I'm worried about...
As you can see,
the extraction's four times longer than the insertion.
And the insertion was long.
-Yup. -So this is gonna be tough.
So we will need to go over this hill
- and straight to extraction and, uh... - -Yeah.
Sunny has struggled over the last few days
with her mental game and her physical body.
But, uh, I've given her some pep talks,
uh, motivated her, driven her, exactly what I'll do with my own soldiers.
And she's back in the game.
And what we can go and do now is,
should we go mud up and let's get out of here.
-Day 21. -Let's go.
We're almost there.
Right now, temperatures are low.
It's windy.
But I know it's not gonna last.
I know that I am gonna be in trouble during the afternoon.
Heat exhaustion to heat stroke.
Medically being tapped, that is my concern.
So I just wanna get out of camp
as soon as possible and get en route,
'cause the longer we wait,
the harder this is gonna be for me.
Gonna get the out of here.
Then we're out of here.
Sunny and Steven will trek six miles
through the steep rolling hills
of the Los Llanos grasslands,
where there are no trees to protect them
from the unrelenting sun
and rising daytime temperatures.
They will have to keep their eyes on the ground
to avoid 300 species of snakes,
until they ascend the final ridge
and find their extraction vehicle.
Ah, stones.
-I'm gonna put my shoes on at the top. -Yup.
All these little stones, absolutely destroying me.
- I'm just gonna stop here on this little flat bit. - -Okay.
Ooh. Them rocks are absolutely disgusting to walk on.
Yeah, like that's what you're stepping on.
Just look at that. They're sharp.
Slicing me feet.
Ah.
Feel like I'm walking on a cloud
and I'm not even stood up yet.
You sure don't wanna stick your shoes on?
Yeah, 100%.
'Cause the shoes are heavier. They're a lot of clunkier.
They're gonna be pulling on the grass.
And you've got those calories
where for me, it's just...
lighter and just a lot easier to navigate.
- So... - Yeah.
Let's do it.
Wow. They feel absolutely amazing.
I feel like I'm on snowshoes.
- Aren't them stones eating your feet? - -Nope.
Hardcore.
Your body's slowly breaking down.
- It's gotta keep on top of the game. - -Yeah.
Trying to go up the hills, my legs are on fire.
Going down the hills, my knees are shaky.
I am so exhausted and fatigued.
I'm concerned. This is... This is serious.
The heat's coming up now.
Come on, Sunny, you got this.
-You got this. -Yup.
Even with the wind, that heat is just...
Oh, man.
Oh, . I don't know if we're gonna get up there.
I need water.
We need shade. We need water.
Come on. Let's keep going.
I just need more... Just...
-Ten seconds. -Hmm.
Another push.
We've got it.
Body feels weak as.
I feel weak now.
The heat just took it out of me.
This is our last hill.
When we get up this hill,
this is the end of it, and it's all downhill from here.
But we are both struggling.
Can't move.
Massively dehydrated.
Heat exhaustion's kicking in.
Well, at this pace and this heat,
I'm feeling like I felt yesterday.
I can't... Do you know what, Sunny, though,
- we've got one more big hill to do. - -I know.
-That's-- -One more big hill.
I wanna make sure she finishes this challenge.
With a team, you never leave no one behind.
Come on, one more big hill.
Come on, Sunny, last hill.
Last hill.
Argh.
I am already feeling
the slightest elevation in the ground.
My legs are heavy.
This is really, really difficult.
Come on, Sunny.
Come on, Sunny.
Come on, Steve.
Gotta get up...
Come on...
Come on, Sunny, last climb.
Come on!
- Come on, Sunny. Keep pushing. -I know...
She is faint.
She is dehydrated.
I will fireman's carry my partner out of here if I need to.
I'm a Commando, I'm a soldier.
It's what I do.
Okay.
Come on, Sunny.
Sunny.
Sunny, give you a hand.
Sunny.
Give me your hand. Come on.
Come on.
Some vehicle over there.
We've got extraction.
Yes.
Come on.
The vehicle shows up from nowhere.
Feeling really emotional.
It made me so happy.
It... it's... it's... honestly, it just lifted me spirits.
Yes, let's go.
Let's go.
Come on, Sunny.
Last push.
Come on, heart's beating.
You got one more.
- Hey. - Hey!
The struggles out here, they're serious, they're real,
they're emotional, they're physical and they're mental.
- Oh, it's the best thing I've ever seen. - -Hey, yeah, yeah.
Oh...
Thank you.
It's pulling out something
that is a type of strength that you need to have.
And I needed an experience to allow me that opportunity
and this has been it.
, we made it.
We made it.
-I keep getting emotional. -I can't believe it.
Steve 100% has my back.
He's been the perfect partner.
It taught me that I can rely on a teammate.
I can rely on a partner.
And the fact that that's a gift
that this challenge has given me,
I won't take it for granted.
Steve is gonna be a lifelong friend.
I am ready to go get married.
Jordan, this wouldn't have happened without you.
Everything I got from this is because of you, babe.
After surviving 21 days, Sunny lost six pounds.
Her Primitive Survival Rating rises from 6.2 to 6.7.
-You're the best teammate, man. -Likewise.
I think everything I've done has been good for the team.
Everything I've built hasn't just been for me,
it's been for both of us.
Whoo!
I like to grow as a person,
and that's the reason why I've done this challenge.
When I get home, I'm a father, I'm a husband.
So what that means to me is loyalty, integrity, team player.
I'm trying to do the best I can for the people that I love.
Stevenn lost 13 pounds.
His PSR goes up from 7.0 to 7.5.
- Twenty-one! - Yes! Come on!
-Yes! -Yes!
-We did it. -Oh, thank you, Colombia.
Whoo!
So, yes, we did plan an elopement,
and I can't be more grateful
or more excited to be here getting married.
