And he would do anything for us.

It's okay, Mommy. You're allowed to cry.

It's a very emotional moment.

Yep.

Luke: I'm from Kernersville, North Carolina.

This is it. Don't blink or you'll miss it.

I've been there my whole life.

As I grew older and got married and had kids,

music kind of settled into more of just a hobby.

I never thought in a million years

that a 33-year-old dad who cuts grass for a living

would get an opportunity like this.

I've always felt like music was my calling in life.

And there was a period of time

the dream had sort of left the ship.

For the blind auditions,

I'm singing "Burning House" by Cam.

This song is about a relationship gone bad.

For me, I've experienced a lot of that same up and down

with my relationship with alcohol.

When I sing the words of this song,

I really feel an emotional connection to that struggle

that I experience daily.

Being able to write music kind of kept that kid alive in me,

and I made a decision to quit drinking alcohol,

just trying to be a better version of myself

for my family and for my friends.

Here we are five years later,

and I've got an opportunity of a lifetime

to be in front of the world and tell my story.

Follow me up here.

My family means everything to me.

I just-- I just want to be a good dad.

Um...

I just want my kids to maybe have an opportunity

like this one day, um,

to step into who they've been called to be.

And-- And if I get to lead that charge

for my family, you know, I'm-- I'm honored.
