I'm 18 years old, and I'm
from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

I've been singing
since I can remember,

but songwriting is one

of the most important things
in my life.

I was on "America's Got Talent"
when I was 12.

I'm actually doing
an original song.

It's about my dad.

When I was 8, I moved with
my family to Texas from Mexico.

I've been singing
ever since I can remember.

My brother Liam, we used to sing
in the house all the time.

We would dance together

We were 19 months apart.

He was very protective of me,
and he was my best friend.

Um, in March of 2015,

when my brother was 9,

he got diagnosed
with glioblastoma brain cancer.

He went through
chemo, radiation.

It was very surreal seeing that,

your big brother
always be strong.

He passed nine days
before his 10th birthday.

Even though it's been 10 years,

those types of things

has changed everything.

When I was about 10,
my parents split, and then me,

My mom is an opera singer.
Very, very talented.

When you first opened
your mouth, I knew it.

I said, this girl's going to go
somewhere with that voice.

Right now, I sing
in a wedding band,

and it's so crazy to be
on Season 29 of "The Voice."

I've been watching the show
forever, and to be here,

it makes me really emotional
just because...

when I was little,
I never thought

that it could be attainable.

I would watch everybody
on this show,

and I would want to be them.

I didn't know
that one day, I would be them.

I thought it would
forever just live in my dreams.

But dreams do come true.

To be here, living it,

I've always been able
to move pretty well,

and my first ever CD I owned
was Earth, Wind & Fire.

So I'm assuming there's
some kind of connection there.

My name's Daniel Sovich.
I grew up in Aurora, Ohio.

Now I'm down
in Nashville, Tennessee.

I started out
with my schooling at NYU.

Freshman year
was a musical theater major,

and I was really fortunate,
got set up

with some awesome auditions.

By the end of college,
I had booked my first

professional pro gig,

the musical "Almost Famous,"
as the lead.

That was my dream as a kid
to be in a Broadway musical.

It really started feeling
like we're launching into this.

Things are going to start
moving from here.

And then we were all set
to open in spring of 2020,

and then that's when COVID hit.
Everything shut down,

and suddenly I cannot
live in this city.

So I went back to Nashville,

and I've been there
for almost five years now.

I'm not going to sit here
and say, like, I've never

gone into one of those spirals
being like, why am I doing this?

Why am I still here doing this?

But then one of those times
you pick yourself back up,

the right person walks
into the bar you're singing at

and is like, dude, you should
come audition for "The Voice."

Oh, my gosh.

Very surreal.

Oh, my God.
I can't believe we're here.

These three coaches
are champions.

It would be amazing
to work with any of them.

I would be pumped
if one chair spins around.

I will be over the moon.

The teams are filling up,
so the stakes are high.

But I have been paying my dues,

and I hope this is
my chance to say I did it.

I'm Daniel Sovich.
I'm 28, from Nashville.

Kelly: Oh, man.

Daniel, I know this is
not what you wanted.

This sucks when this happens.

It felt more Broadway than,
like, anything else, for me.

But you have a great voice.

I don't know about y'all, but it
felt a little more that for me.

It did feel theatrical
at times,

and I don't think
that's a bad thing,

but the vocal has
a certain understated-ness to it

that when you lose that,

sometimes it can make it
a different thing.

And so it kind of got me
outside of it,

but I wanted to turn
a bunch of times.

Your range is awesome.

Appreciate that. Yeah.

One of the things
Michael would always say,

he talks about
not overusing the vibrato,

even when you're doing
those songs

that kind of make you think
that you should do vibrato.
Call for it?

Your performance was flawless
when it came to pitch.

You have
a powerful instrument,

so it's just about making
the right artistic choices

to be more effective
as a performer.

And so I think that's
something you could correct

and come back
and sing another song.

Since we're a Navy family,
anchors would be something.

I'm Jared Shoemaker,

I'm 32 years old,
and I'm from Richmond, Kentucky.

In 2012,
I decided to join the Navy.

I was on
the USS George H.W. Bush.

Our main goal was
to carry all kinds

of helicopters and cargo planes
and, of course, fighter jets.

And when you get to the ship,

the least ranking person
usually has toilet duty.

I had to make sure
throughout the day

that the toilets were clean,
which was crazy.

Then I finally got
an opportunity to work

on all kinds of machinery.

We'd rebuild pumps,
boilers, air compressors.

It definitely was
a very tough job.

We worked a lot of hours.

When you're working that much,
it'll suck the soul out of you.

And I read on a magazine singing
release endorphins in your brain

and it makes you happy.

I had a whole room to myself
at the belly of the boat,

and I just started singing.

I could sing as loud as I want.

Everybody would bring
their guitars down there,

and we'd have big jam sessions.

It literally brought
my spirits up.

I went nine months
singing every day,

and I realized
that I think I had a voice.

When he got out of
the military,

we would go to some of
his little gigs, and we're like,

oh, my gosh.

Our boy can sing.

When I got out of the Navy,
I just started gigging,

and my band's called Marshull.

We've been gigging
for 10, 20 people,

and then we've moved on
to playing massive clubs.

We got to open up
for Diamond Rio,

one of my favorite
'90s country bands.

So we're playing music full time
now, traveling the country.

One of our favorite venues
is a horse festival.

We ride horses all day,
and then we play music.

I kind of worked away
my younger years

doing nothing
but demanding jobs,

so it's kind of fun
to be around the things

I missed out on
while I was in the Navy.

It's the final night
of the blind auditions.

Teams are filling up.

There's never been a season
with fewer spots available.

Gets you a little nervous,
but I've been in plenty

of different situations
where the stress is high.

So I'm ready to get on
