This programme contains strong language,
nudity and scenes of a sexual nature
12 virgins have travelled to a paradise island
to take part in a unique experiment.
The word virgin, people see it as a joke.
It's quite upsetting.
I'm 23, still a virgin.
I feel like there's something wrong with me.
In a world where sex is everywhere...
My God.
Terrified, absolutely terrified.
..the truth is surprising -
there are more adult virgins than ever.
Being a young adult in this day and age - it's difficult.
Social media. Dating apps.
Influencers. TV shows.
Porn. Porn. Porn. Porn.
Porn is everywhere.
Are you self-conscious about our genitals touching each other?
Now... Yeah.
..this radical retreat is offering a very hands-on solution.
HE GROANS Ohh, yeah.
She's a miracle worker!
Woohoo.
Oh, God, yes.
Overseen by a group of experts...
Yeah. Like that?
I like that.
..ready to do anything to help Britain's virgins...
There's the clitoris.
Do you have any questions?
..lose the one thing...
MOANING
Do I make you feel nervous?
..they feel is holding them back.
I would love to have sex with you.
I do feel like there's a barrier between me and sex.
I want to lose my virginity.
It's now or never.
But when the moment arrives...
Would you like to move to the bed?
..who will be ready...
I just don't want anyone to touch me.
..to go all the way?
You're so sexy.
Yes. Oh, yes.
MOANING
The last few days on Virgin Island
saw a focus on intimate touch.
It was like watching a porno. That's necessary?
We can explore the things that you came here to explore.
It made Taylor, who identifies as bi-sexual...
I'm scared.
..confused about her feelings.
I'm sorry. Can I just have one minute?
And when Ben...
What does it feel like to you?
Bewitching.
..fell under Charlotte's spell...
Yeah, all right. I'll do it, then.
..he was rejected.
This is my friend,
but I'm not interested.
Now, as they enter the next phase,
things are hotting up.
That felt good.
Confidence is really key to this group of people.
And I am ready to make them be able to look into someone else's eyes
and just go after what they want.
LAUGHTER
Feels nice.
Good morning. Morning. Morning.
It's another day on Virgin Island.
Oh, here we go.
And the start of a new two-day phase of the course.
The next phase of the course is all about confidence.
Everything here is making me nervous,
so, yeah, just another one
in a long line of,
"Ahh, what does this mean?"
God.
I'm confident in my intelligence,
I'm confident as a person,
but I'm not confident about believing that people
want me in that way.
Especially after what happened with Charlotte.
You know, I just feel like I'm not good enough.
So I think this is going to be tough for me.
Confidence?
I think I'm confident when I'm someone else most of the time.
OK, yeah. That's why I do drama and all that.
There are times where I didn't won't chat to anyone,
cos I just hate myself so much.
Like I wouldn't even get on the bus
cos I didn't want to talk to the bus driver,
so I'd just walk everywhere.
So, I need confidence,
and hopefully this place will give it to me.
Oh, they're all down there already, look at them.
Bunch of hippies.
Good morning. Good morning.
Celeste and Danielle's first group workshop will test how ready
the group are to banish embarrassment.
We are moving into the next phase - confidence.
If you're walking in the world and you're feeling kind of shut down,
you're not going to be attractive.
But really accepting yourself for who you are,
you're going to BE more attractive.
They've all prepared a dating or rejection story from their past,
which has destroyed their confidence.
So, you're going to take turns to share your rejection story.
Who wants to come first?
I'll go.
Great. APPLAUSE
First up, drama graduate, Tom.
Being a virgin has definitely affected my confidence.
In school, I felt like, socially,
I wasn't developing as well as all my other classmates.
They were all going out, drinking in the park,
having fun and all those sorts of things.
I was bit of a goody two shoes,
and I felt like I was trailing behind everyone else in the end.
I always have a voice on my shoulder
always telling me that I'm not good enough.
So, my story takes place third year of uni.
I'd just received a message from a former friend,
and we started chatting more and more.
And it felt like it was getting a little bit flirty,
so I invited her down to my place for my housemate's birthday.
Got to the club, erm...
I thought I was going to make my move there.
I introduced her to my housemate.
So, I went to the bar,
and when I turned around bringing drinks,
they're making out with each other.
Revealing their most vulnerable moments to the group
is only half of the process.
So, each person is going to say their biggest rejection,
and then immediately getting the feedback
that you are lovable, that you are attractive.
There's something that like shifts in your brain
when you do all of that at the same time.
Standing up for Tom is Taylor.
I think, in that story, she was in the wrong
for playing with your emotions like that.
You're a really lovely person, you need to remember that,
and she - she sucks.
Ha-ha. She sucks. Thank you.
Thank you.Thank you. APPLAUSE
As well as rejection...
I stayed over her house, and...
And there was almost this unspoken sort of expectation
that, oh, well, there would be sex.
..not being ready for sex...
I was so nervous about doing something wrong
that I just shut down.
I just wasn't ready.
..and running away...
He says to me,
"So are we going to go all the way?"
And, erm... I just, yeah, I think I just got the fear.
..are recurring themes.
We were in bed,
he started saying he didn't believe that I was a virgin.
And he was quite persistent, like I was lying.
I haven't seen anyone since that
just because now I feel like I don't want to put myself
in that position.
But...
Ben, you should be proud of yourself
that you didn't feel like you had to go all the way.
And the right person will come to you when it's right for you.
Thanks.
..Celeste and Danielle believe that together...
You're just so smiley
and you make everybody else smile,
and also, he's a dick, as well, yeah.
LAUGHTER
..they can change.
APPLAUSE
Being able to get the antidote, like get the medicine,
is so crucial and it builds so much confidence.
Each story also gives the experts clues
on individual needs to resolve their issue with intimacy.
APPLAUSE
Last is Taylor,
who since coming out as bi-sexual at university,
has never had a positive encounter with women or men.
I was dancing with some friends and one of my friends was like,
"That boy's making eyes at you,"
and like pointed out a quite good-looking lad on the dance floor,
and I was like, "OK."
And then one of them went,
"He's coming over," and I hid behind her and said,
"Dance me to the stairs so I can get out."
And I just remembered that I was almost at the stairs
and I'm crouched over and the crowd's parted,
and the lights flashed for a second
and I looked straight into this guy's eyes, like...
And my heart just dropped.
And I saw his face, like...
So, it was one of those moments
where, like, I was always expecting to be rejected.
You're really nice, you're fantastic, pretty,
and it's really nice seeing how you've come out of your shell.
Well, you was always out of your shell - out more.
SHE CHUCKLES But, yeah, you're amazing.
Whoo. APPLAUSE
DANIELLE: I just really want to applaud your bravery
and your vulnerability to every one of you here.
I felt really awkward. Yeah.
I didn't mind sharing my story,
I didn't like being told I was nice.
Yeah, I know.
I suffer from quite a lot of, like, self-doubt and paranoia.
But I think self-confidence is different for everyone and for me,
I usually just try and fake it till I make it.
You OK?
I just feel a bit, like, other.
SHE EXHALES
I still feel like they're trying to get to grips with me.
I thought with Taylor,
it was such like a running away story.
You kind of picture her hiding behind someone else,
like backing away and it's like,
what is happening here, so...? What is happening?
Yeah, it seemed like she was
so afraid of connection
that she just couldn't even bear the thought of it.
Yeah.
I do feel like there's a barrier between me and sex.
Like, I've been on nights out where you're like,
"'m going to do it, I'm going to have that one-night stand."
And you meet someone and they want to take you back to their place,
and then you hit this wall and you just think,
" can't."
When you see people in love,
it is a lot that you're missing out on.
And I can't have what everyone else gets to have.
After a string of failed encounters with men,
and an unsuccessful session with male surrogate Andre,
could a different approach help?
So, I just want to say, I'm kind of taking over from Andre.
OK. How does it feel?
A lot calmer, weirdly. OK.
Because when Andre...
Really lovely, want to be his best friend,
but like, just didn't want to like have any kind of sexual contact.
Do you want to move into some body work?
Yeah. Yeah?
So I just want you to bring awareness into your feet...
..noticing any tension that you feel.
Kat wants Taylor to concentrate
on how it feels to be touched by a woman.
Then we'll move to the ankles and the lower legs.
Sorry.
No, no, don't apologise, it's OK.
Is it, like, does it feel like a release? Does it feel...
Yeah, OK.
TAYLOR SNIFFLES
It's just such a relief to not feel scared at all.
Mmm, that's amazing.
TAYLOR SOBS
Mmm.
I feel so silly.
No, why?
Just, for like, wasting my own time and everyone else's for so long.
No.
By feeling uncertain?
Yeah.
TAYLOR SOBS
SOFTLY: It's OK.
Yeah, it's OK.
I think that's enough for today.
After years of confusion,
it's the breakthrough Taylor's been looking for.
I always thought I was bi,
but being here and having to like, kind of, confront it...
Yeah. ..I think I'm...
I might not like men, like, at all.
OK, and how does it feel like to sit with it and own it?
It feels good to own it, but it's also really scary.
It is really scary. Yeah. Yeah.
Oh, God, finally.
KAT CHUCKLES
Yay! I'm so excited. Yay.
This feels so good. Yay!
But it feels so good, a good cry.
Yay, I'm glad.
Oh, thank you so much,
I really appreciate it.
I'm just gay and I think I've been deluding myself into,
like, "No, I like men as well, because that's normal and good."
But, like, I didn't feel scared.
That felt really good.
Hello.
So, how was your... What was it, a one-on-one session you did?
I went to my one-to-one session. Who was it with?
Good? It was with Kat,
and it was the best one I've had.
Oh, really? And I'm definitely gay.
APPLAUSE I know, thank you.
What a breakthrough.
SOBS: I know, I've wasted all fuckin' week!
Aw, we love... Happy tears. We love you, Taylor.
Thank you.
I feel like now I can get more out of the retreat
because I know kind of what I want
and I'm not pretending that I want other things just to fit in.
Would you sell your virginity?
I would.
I've considered it before.
Well, how much would you sell your virginity for?
I'd say couple of 100K, plus.
I'd do it for a tenner and a packet of doughnuts.
Different for boys. What about your anal virginity?
Yeah. Noooo. No.
That's his boundary. That's... Yeah, That's my boundary.
Yeah. At least ยฃ1,000,000.
Ha!
It's the first afternoon of the confidence phase at the retreat.
What language do lesbians speak?
What?
Gay-lick.
LAUGHTER
What do you call a lesbian dinosaur?
Don't know.
Lick-a-lot-of-pus.
Ahh! CHUCKLING
Like that one.
After helping Taylor find her true self,
Celeste and Danielle have left something for the boys
to see if any of them have the confidence
to explore their identities, too.
Do you want a pamper, Tom?
I would love a pamper, to be fair.
What do you want, a face mask?
Oh, I'd be up for any of it, mascara, lipstick.
Perf.
This is an exercise that helps people lower their inhibitions.
Welcome to Emma's salon.
Society can give young men such a narrow view of masculinity.
So we really wanted to help them start to get past
some of those myths.
How do you feel now? Relaxed?
Like I'm being operated on.
Although Ben isn't made up with the make-up...
I wanted it to look like good, and natural, and not drag-queeny.
That's all right, I can be drag queen.
THEY CHUCKLE
..Tom is in the pink.
He looks like a... Like a nice, young German boy.
CHUCKLING
I've never had a girlfriend in my life, no.
Sometimes I come across quite camp.
I'll go out to the club, and I'll start slut dropping,
I will start singing along to Taylor Swift,
Katy Perry, bit of Abba,
but a lot of people didn't know how to differentiate
between camp and being gay,
so they kind of saw them as one and the same.
You trust me, yeah?
Why are you holding it like that?
Oh, my God.
CHUCKLING
I want to lose my virginity,
but people just aren't interested
in someone who doesn't have confidence in themselves.
That ain't bad!
That's not bad, come on.
It feels so wrong, yet so right.
LAUGHTER
Made up, the boys have engaged with their soft side.
But now the experts want them to reinforce their strength, too,
and try to get good with wood. MAN YELLS
Has anyone felt an emotion and they were afraid to show it
because of what someone else might think?
Yeah.
But today we're going to get to let those emotions out.
So, we're letting go of the emotion as the axe splits
the wood, you know?
HE ROARS
Just tune into some primal emotion in your body.
All right, who feels like they'd like to go first?
Go on, Dave. GROUP MURMUR
Dave. All right, lads.
Hi. Thank you.
DAVE ROARS
Yes, good job, Dave.
HE ROARS
Yeah, ho-ho!
CHUCKLING, APPLAUSE
CHEERING
Yeah! CHEERING
Not only are they letting out some raw emotion...
TOM GRUNTS
Yeah. Good job, bro.
Ah!
SOFTLY:Ah, shit. CHUCKLING
That was bad.
..for 25-year-old Viraj, it's a lesson in resilience.
Ha! Oh, my God.
Come on, you've got this!
VIRAJ GRUNTS ALL CHEER
LAUGHTER, APPLAUSE
Good job, Viraj.
Heya! Hi. Hey.
How was the chopping?
Oh, I sucked, I was the worst.
Man chop wood. Man chop wood.
Man use axe.
Getting manly has left many of the boys on a high.
Man talk to girls.
Man break wind.
HE CHUCKLES
Are you desperately trying to get your nail varnish off?
Yes.
Have you taken yours off?
No, I might just stick it out.
I think it's about trying to be in touch with your emotions
rather than letting it all boil up inside you.
Do you think it worked?
I'm still virgin, so not yet.
To try and change that...
So, I'll just be touching all over your body, but not your genitals.
..the experts believe Dave's ready to start
the island's most advanced treatment,
surrogate partner therapy.
How are you feeling?
Good. Yeah? Yeah.
SOFTLY: OK.
It was really nice.
It felt natural and enjoyable.
Erm...
It's given me a massive confidence boost.
Meanwhile...
I'd like to just go into an experience
of connecting with your body.
Yeah, let's do it. Yeah. Mm.
OK, let's try that. Yeah.
..Jason's lessons on how to hug are moving up a step.
You can touch me in a way that feels good to you.
So amazing.
HE CHUCKLES
THEY LAUGH
Yeah.
Across the island,
the make-up session has raised more questions than answers for Tom.
Doing the woodchopping,
doing the whole make-up thing,
I really enjoyed that, but I don't know, it just felt like
a lot of things about, like, gender end up coming into it.
I just feel a bit weird, I think.
The experts have noticed a change in Tom, too,
so they're sending him for a session with Kat
to see if she can find out what's really going on.
Because so many people over the years have called me gay,
I've kind of started to question my own sexuality sometimes.
For a while, I saw myself as a closeted bisexual,
erm, but one of the prerequisites of being bisexual is,
like, you have to like men.
I didn't like men that way.
But I want to learn more about myself
and my own battles with identity.
There's just so many things which have made me question that.
How are you doing?
Ah, not so great today, I'd say.
Yeah? Just struggling a little bit, I think.
Yeah? Yeah.
I think just working out my place,
like, and how I fit into things, the dynamic,
whether I'm part of the men, or the women, or the...
Oh, I see. Yeah, yeah. ..where I belong in that sort of stuff, yeah.
I think that I really enjoyed, like, putting the make-up on,
and it feels like...
It's OK, it's OK.
SOFTLY: Sorry.
No, don't apologise, it's OK.
Is there a tissue?
Yeah.
Thanks. Yep.
Oh. Oh.
I don't feel like I'm quite the full masculine side of things.
I do think...
..I am slightly more masculine leaning,
but I don't think I'm fully man, but...
Yeah. ..I'm not too sure.
Yeah. And does it feel scary to step into the feminine?
It's scary because I don't know what to label myself as.
Nonbinary is quite, I don't know,
it feels quite scary
and I'm not sure it is a total fit for me either. Mm-hm.
I want you to try as much as you can
to like pause from naming things,
ground it in the body a little bit,
and just pay attention to how you feel. Yeah. OK.
See you soon. Yeah, see you soon.
I'm not sure I'm totally happy within at the moment,
but that's because it bought up a lot of stuff
that I'm going to work through,
but definitely in a happier mindset, let's say.
Hey, Holly, guess what?
Ha. What? I'm a lesbian.
Whoo.
Sup? Morning.
Ready to go today, guys?
Way!
It's day two of the confidence phase of the course.
Morning, Dave, you all right?
Yeah. Morning.
This is all I want in life, a good cup of tea.
I'm struggling a little bit with the confidence,
but I think it's just taking
those little steps for me
and I'm really hoping that
I can build up myself and build up my confidence.
That's exactly what Celeste and Danielle plan to do next,
with a lesson on the foundation of all romance - dating.
Ooh, chairs! Oh, we're going on a date!
Ooh! UNEASY LAUGHTER
Oh, my God. Oh, my God!
Oh, I've been on so many dates, this will be easy for me.
Yeah, it should be.
So we're going to talk about the skills of a great date.
All those skills that we need to have in order
to have great relationships are just skills.
You want to learn them and practise them.
Celeste and Danielle have a rule of three dating skills.
The first one is giving an in-the-moment compliment.
Like "I really love the way your eyes twinkle when you smile."
You know, something that really feels
like you are connecting with a person.
The second one is to be able to both give and recognise the look.
And the look means "I'm ready now.
"I'm ready to be kissed."
And then finally, the third skill is the lean-in for the kiss.
So we're going to do a little demo
and then you're going to have opportunities to practise.
And in this case, practise means role play.
I'm so glad we finally got here.
It's been a lot of planning. BOTH CHUCKLE
I know, right? Yeah.
So, do you like to travel?
Oh, my God, I love travelling.
Travelling is really my passion.
Where's your favourite place?
Mmm! Wow, I can't think about anything.
BOTH LAUGH
I can just listen to that laugh all day long.
DANIELLE LAUGHS
You're embarrassing me a little bit.
BOTH LAUGH But I like it, too.
So that's an in-the-moment.
Uh-huh. Did you see - flirting was going on all the time?
Yeah?
You are giving me the look.
BOTH LAUGH
I was also getting it from you, I think.
Mm.
Mmm.
Such a good kisser.
BOTH CHUCKLE
OK. You are each other's practise buddies,
and that's really going to help you.
The more you practise, the more it's just going to be like,
"Oh, this is normal, this is just what I do."
That's confidence, right?
Who wants to...
Yay! Come on up, Emma. Yay, Emma!
I wouldn't really say I've actually ever been
on a date in my life.
Who else?
I'll do it. CHEERING
It's hard to, kind of, open myself up to that world
where I've had such a block on it for so long.
Hello. Hello.
HE CHUCKLES How are you, OK?
Very good. Did you enjoy the show?
Yeah, I did, yeah.
What did you like the best?
Hmm.
Now you've put me on the spot.
HE CHUCKLES
I like how you get lost in your thoughts there. Yeah.
Always, always getting lost. Somewhere else?
Yeah! Yeah, in my own world.
Mm. Mm.
I like that you noticed that. You're very observant.
That was phenomenal.
Any tips for Zac on how he could even give it...
I... I need the tips.
Maybe if you just took care of the hand that little bit more.
HE CHUCKLES And then just pay attention
to how it feels on your skin.
Yeah. OK.
Just slow down and like... Slow down.
Yeah. OK. Make sure that it's the right level. Yep. Mmm.
CHEERING, APPLAUSE Great job, Zac.
That was beautiful. Good job. Good job.
After Zac and Emma's masterclass...
A fully nude cafe, bold choice for our first date.
LAUGHTER
..the others step up to the dating plate.
I'm a bus driver.
Do you enjoy it?
No. BOTH CHUCKLE
Do you want to just try giving her the look?
See if... That was it. That was the eyebrows!
There it was. There it was!
Just want to see if you're catching it.
No, I didn't catch it, to be fair. You didn't catch it?
OK, I want you to start paying attention to those things.
It was nice talking to you.
SHE GIGGLES
BOTH: Wow.
LAUGHTER
APPLAUSE
Last to take the plunge is serial dater Ben,
who despite having over 40 dates,
has always been unlucky in love.
BEN SIGHS
What's stopped me from taking it to the next level
with a lot of these dates I've been on, I think,
is just lack of experience and lack of success
at reading sort of social signals.
I tend to play it safe,
and it think for guys like me who just struggle with that,
making the move and reading the signs, it's very hard.
Who wants to try it with Ben?
Do I get to do it?
Good cos this will be our second date.
Mm-hm. Yeah.
SHE CHUCKLES
Well, it's good see you again, Celeste.
It's good to see you, too.
What job do you do?
I coach people to have more intimacy
and connection with each other. Ooh. OK.
I like your glasses.
Thank you. They suit you.
Mmm.
When you, like, get all into the experience,
you're really beautiful.
Thank you. So are you.
Thank you.
Yes!Thank you. APPLAUSE
Despite Celeste's flirting...
You all right, mate?
Yeah.
..being rejected by the group has hurt Ben.
So tonight, you're going to have another opportunity
to just practise skills building
as you'll all be going on practice dates with each other.
You'll learn so much and give each other
so much from that experience.
Holly, how was my kissing skills out of ten?
Oh, a solid 9.5.
Yes! Yeah, it was really good! Get in there.
What did everyone think of that session?
No, it was fine.
I enjoyed it.
Tell me how you found the workshop?
Crap.
Awful.
I didn't like it.
I got up and no-one wanted to do it with me.
I was really hurt.
The ironic thing is the confidence section,
which I knew would be hard,
has probably wrecked my confidence.
Hello.
Hello.
For Ben, it's yet another setback.
You OK?
The confidence round basically shattered my confidence.
And he's not the only one struggling.
I walked out the workshop feeling worse.
Oh, really?
What's bothered you today?
SHE SIGHS I don't know.
The experts feel something is holding Emma back,
and now they want to find out what it is.
How are you feeling?
I'm feeling all right,
but I just really feel for Ben.
It's hard, isn't it?
Like, where I care for other people,
it's hard to think about myself.
You actually have to - not so much worry
and take care of everyone else. Yeah.
What does it feel like to just say, "What about me?"
SOFTLY: OK. That...
That doesn't feel natural.
Of course, it's the opposite of the habit!
The habit is "Are you OK? Everybody OK? You OK?" Yeah.
"What about me?" Yeah.
See if you can say it with some... OK.
What about me?
Can you do it a little bit stronger now?
What about me?
Yeah.
You deserve to be angry.
Like, what about you?
Yeah. You know what I mean? OK. It's your turn.
Yeah. Yeah? OK.
Ahh.
Go, "Ahh," a little bit.
Ahh. Ah! Ahh-ahh!
THEY LAUGH
What about me? Yes!
"What about me?!"
What about me? Yeah! "What about me?"
What about me? That's right.
I feel like I'm going to need a punching bag in a minute.
Wh...No, no, no... EMMA LAUGHS
Oh, my God, yes!
I can be one.
That's all I've ever wanted you to say!
OK, right, let me strip off.
Right. Oh, God, OK.
I'm going to push it out.
"What about me?" And then punch it!
OK.
Yeah. Yes! "What about me?"
What about me? Yeah, more.
This is my body. Yes!
This is my body. Yes! Yes, girl!
"It's my turn." What about me?
Fuck you if you have ever made me feel shit,
and fuck everyone who's taken my kindness for weakness!
Yes!
It's all about me.
It's all about you!
Fuck you. Fuck you!
Sorry, just need a sec. Yeah. Whoo!
The exercise stirs up old emotion.
When I was seven,
I did have a really horrific incident
with another child of them touching me inappropriately.
It kind of shut me off
and brought up this fear of sex
and that was so horrible.
So, I want to move past that horrific experience,
but it is so difficult.
It's like a piece of glass,
you can shatter some glass,
but even if you put it back together,
it will never be the same again.
Just imagine little Emma looking up at you
and saying, "Thank you so much."
Thank you f-for looking out for me
and being the strong independent woman
that I always wanted to be.
SOFTLY: Yeah.
TEARFULLY: And you should be proud of yourself
cos you are so stronger than you think and wiser than you know.
How did it go?
Had a really good session.
I feel like Celeste released some new energy inside of me
that I didn't realise I had.
Right now, I feel on top of the world.
I feel like a brand-new complete version of Emma,
and I'm not going to let people's negative input impact me.
I feel like now I am more open to forming new connections
which I haven't taken before.
It's not just Emma who's feeling like a new person.
After his session with Kat yesterday,
Tom has been reflecting on gender identity.
I think my next steps with this,
I probably will tell some more people about my gender fluidity,
so then I don't constantly have this sort of barrier up all the time,
or like I'm not hiding part of myself any more -
which I'm constantly having to do here at the moment.
Do you want to sit here? Yes.
After her own issues around identity,
Tom decides to confide in Taylor.
Coming here, I've been learning a lot more about my own identity.
Uh-huh. I've found that as well.
BOTH LAUGH Yeah!
Yeah. It really puts it into perspective. It does, 100%.
When I had my make-up put on me... Yes.
..and then I had to take it off, and I felt a bit,
"Oh, no, I really wanted to keep that on." You did say that.
It got me thinking a lot about my own sort of identity.
I... I'm not sure.
I think if gender is, like, on a spectrum... Yes.
..I'd say I'm exactly between a he-him and they-them.
Yes. So... Some masculine, but not bro. Yeah.
Yeah. Do you still identify as straight - like you like girls?
Yes, I still very much like women.
Doesn't matter, like, who I go to bed with,
it's like who I go to bed AS.
Yeah. Of course! Yeah. Who do I go to bed as?
Yeah. Oh, how exciting.
Yay. How exciting.
Thank you.
It's late afternoon on Virgin Island...
You all right? S'up?
..and this evening, the group will pair up for date night.
So how we going to do this today?
I dunno. Is this my first proper date?
Do I class this as a date?
We can make it a date.
We'll see how... We'll see what happens.
One thing I don't want it to be is I don't want it to be awkward.
Why would it be awkward?
I dunno, I feel like I'm just, like, an awkward person.
No, we might fall in love after this.
Really?
Maybe.
Maybe? Sometimes when you look at me, I do...
I do feel like, are you just looking at me randomly?
Or are you looking at me?
Maybe I shouldn't be overthinking it.
HE SNORTS
You seen the way you just looked at me there!
Ah, Emma.
After her session with Celeste,
Emma's new-found positivity is taking effect.
You do realise, like, my dream woman will have to be someone who,
like, goes to India with me and has that dream wedding.
Oh, my God, yeah. You would look really good in a sari.
No, I actually would love that.
Mmm. That's fantastic. What colour would my dress be?
I can pic... Like, red?
Yeah, I picture it red.
Really?
Yeah, I picture it red.
I don't know whether red would suit me.
I think it would.
I think any colour would suit you, why not?
Now she's opened the flood gates...
EMMA SCREAMS
CHEERING
..Emma's letting herself go.
Even went through to the second layer.
CHEERING
Later we'll all pose for a calendar.
LAUGHTER
And so are the boys.
What do you guys, like, like?
What do you mean?
What do you like? But that's such a weird question.
What do you mean? How do you want to have sex?
I know what I want. I want to feel powerful.
I mean, yeah, I'd like it if a girl rides on top of me, sure.
I would like to be dominated.
I think that's what I like. You like that?
Yeah. That's interesting!
But that's because I'm like a shy virgin.
I think I want something really boring - like missionary.
That's me.
After being rejected earlier,
the confidence phase of the course has yet to help Ben.
I think what's scary about the whole approaching somebody in real life
is the prospect of rejection.
It's just awkward.
Ben struggles to turn dates from the vertical to the horizontal.
So the experts want to see if they can teach him how.
Coming out of this and feeling more confident
is why I am doing it.
JOY: Let's get a little closer.
And just so our hands are touching.
Your job is to stay present with the touch.
How do I make the first move, the first physical move?
That's quite a bit step and something I always worry about.
If there is a moment that you feel a connection,
you might just look at her and be like,
"You're so cute.
"You know?"
Like that?
Yeah. Yeah, it has to feel like it's time, though.
Natural. Yeah.
When you're confident, that's one of the most important things.
Mmm.
With the basics covered,
Ben takes the giant leap to the bed.
That's nice.
That's really nice, Ben.
Yeah.
Slowly, Ben's confidence seems to be rising.
And whatever you do,
don't try and get it right.
There's no getting it right, there's only exploring.
Squeeze me if that helps you to feel more of me.
See you soon. See you soon.
What I found most helpful is that she can help me get out of my head
and get more in the moment.
I just feel like I'm going to be a lot more confident going into
these sorts of situations now.
After Ben's confidence boost...
..the whole group get themselves ready for date night.
This feels like a bigger deal than I thought it was going to be.
Ooh, a tie.
You're looking good, though, dude. Yeah.
We all look good. Yeah.
Who knew virgins could be so sexy?
CHUCKLING
SHE IMITATES SIZZLING
Ooh, lovely!
The experts have paired them up, ready to test their date skills.
This is nice. This IS nice.
Ladies first.
Too kind.
And they've hit the island's most romantic spots.
There you go, my lady.
Thank you very much, thank you. OK.
You look lovely. Aw, thank you.
I was worried I'd be overdressed and I was like changing...
I was worried about the same thing!
Having come out as gay,
Taylor's dating expert Aisha,
giving Ben the chance to carry on where he left off with Joy.
How have you been since we last met?
Yeah, fine, waiting for you.
You're late. THEY CHUCKLE
I hope this is Vodka.
BOTH LAUGH
So, do I, actually. Cheers. Cheers.
As they sit down to chat up...
You all right? Nice to meet you.
Nice to meet you.
..they must remember Celeste and Danielle's three steps of dating.
I wanted to know actually, what's it like in Glasgow?
Is it just full of, like, Frankie Boyle posters?
Yeah. He's, like, actually like our mascot.
THEY LAUGH
What state did you grow up in?
Florida. Oh, Florida! I never would have guessed.
Really? Apparently Florida people are crazy.
SHE LAUGHS Does that mean you're crazy?
Erm... I think I am a little.
We may be about to get rained on.
Erm... You don't like getting wet?
I thought that was your whole thing.
BOTH LAUGH Wow! Ooh!
I appreciate that, I appreciate you taking it sexual.
Step one,
giving an in-the-moment compliment.
You look nice. Thanks.
You look very nice. How nice?
Out of ten?
Ten.
I don't know what to say. NERVOUS LAUGHTER
Me neither. Bit awkward here.
Shall we look for some dolphins?
I like how rosy your cheeks are.
Thank you.
It's the one thing I hate about myself. Is it?
Yeah. Oh, well I'm glad I bought it up, then.
THEY CHUCKLE
You have very nice earrings.
You like them? Yeah!
Thank you, my friend made them.
You've definitely got a good fashion sense.
Yeah? Better than I've got.
Thank you, thank you so much. All these compliments!
I don't know what to do with them all.
THEY LAUGH
Step two is the look.
I've practised the look, I've practised the look.
Oh, yes. OK.
I'm going to... OK, give me... Feel my energy. Give me the look.
Feel my energy. I'm going to turn away and look back at you.
OK. OK, now, turn around. OK.
THEY SNORT
Goddamn it!
Finally, followed by the kiss.
You're a beautiful girl. Oh, stop it.
You really are.
You're a beautiful guy, inside and out.
SHE GIGGLES
Aw!
But for one couple...
My niche is, like, weight loss.
I like your motivation to want to do personal trainer
and want to help other people.
Yeah. I like that about you. Thanks.
..date practice is perfect.
Are you OK? I'm good.
Mmm. You sure?
Yeah, I'm all right.
Do I make you nervous?
A little bit. Don't be.
You don't need to be nervous.
I need to try and be a bit more confident with women.
My family and our Hindu culture still believe
in, like, arranged marriages.
I don't see that as a bad thing,
but I just don't think I'd ever put myself in that position.
Once I'm a lot more confident in myself,
I think the type of path I want to go down
would be a love marriage,
but if I don't put myself out there, it definitely won't happen.
Can I take your hand?
Sure, let's do it.
I'm just going to... I have cold hands, though.
No, it's OK. They're OK.
You have nice hands, though. Thank you.
You've got nice skin, haven't you? I feel like I've gotten darker -
by being here more. To be honest, you actually have.
But you're a nice colour.
You OK? Yeah, I'm all right. Are you OK?
Yeah, I'm good. Yeah? I'm all good in the hood. Yeah.
Look, you can tell how cold I am,
cos that one's going a bit purple.
Yeah. You are going a bit purple, aren't you?
Maybe you can warm them up for me?
Do you want me to warm them up for you? Yeah.
I give you a little peck?
Yeah, go on.
Beautiful.
How was that? Yeah, lovely.
Yeah? Good for you?
'Course! Good.
We got on quite well
and I'm just looking forward to getting to know him more.
I don't know whether it could be a bit romantic,
but I've never had a connection with anyone like I do with Viraj.
Enjoy that? Yeah, no, it was good, actually. Did you?
Yeah. I'll probably...
Oh, sh...
That was awkward.
I feel really great, I feel confident,
and I feel like I've pushed outside like a massive barrier
with me with like going on dates.
She's just an amazing girl
and I really glad that I was with her for that date.
You want to hold my hand?
You want to make it like an official date?
LAUGHS: Yeah!
And with that, it's time to celebrate
the end of another phase of the course.
CHEERING
Are you feeling confident?
GROUP: Yes.
My confidence has definitely grown over the last few days.
I've kind of been on a journey in terms of my gender.
Not quite sure who I am,
but I know at least I'm Tom. TOM CHUCKLES
GROUP: Cheers!
CHEERING
Over the last few days, my confidence has skyrocketed
so much more than I thought it ever would,
and I'm really looking forward
to where the journey may take me next.
It's so exciting and it's so nice to feel like these new feelings
that I'm feeling.
Now, that I'm kind of... I know myself a bit better,
the fear is gone. So I'm hoping I can progress faster
now that I'm not being held back by my own fear.
Tomorrow we are taking it to the next level.
Oh, my God. CHUCKLING
Are you ready? LAUGHTER
We've come on a journey together
and you never know what's coming next,
and I just hope we don't go in tomorrow
and, like, they're all naked or something.
That would be quite scary.
Next Time...
So, this is my body.
For fuck's sake.
..the course enters its toughest phase yet.
We're going to invite you
one by one to show yourself out.
Do you know what? YOLO.
CHEERING
And the one-on-one's...
What's the feeling in your body? The sensation of it?
Disgusting.
..push the virgins further than ever before.
Just, like, explore.
THEY LAUGH
