He did a lot of bad stuff.

He had everybody scared to death.
He's just evil.

was a threat to the people in his life.

He thought
he had gotten away with it for years.

What did you do professionally?

Got a job working in a dental clinic.

I saw early on, there is
a profound fear of having dental care.

My goal was to do something quite unique
at the time.

And I sort of initiated the idea
of sedation to have dental work done.

Bring them in, sedate them, try to do
all their treatment at one time,

wake them up, and they're happy.

I did my graduate program at the
University of Pittsburgh Dental School.

I saw a very beautiful woman
in the school cafeteria named Bianca.

She would meet with me there
before we went to class,

because we could have breakfast
for a dollar.

We'd start our day that way,
and she would go off to school.

I'd go off to the dental school.

So, once I graduated,
I just went out and started a practice.

And Bianca came with me.

When did you and your wife marry?

September 4th...

1982.

How many children do you have?

Two. My daughter is AnaBianca Rudolph.

My son is Julian Rudolph.

We had a pretty traditional
east coast, middle-class upbringing.

We lived in the suburbs. My parents
got along, seemed to love each other.

I had a good upbringing. Peaceful home.

I played sports my whole life. My mother
loved to watch me play, whatever it was,

even if I wasn't very good.

She was my best friend.
We spent a lot of time together.

Bianca Rudolph, she was an open book.

She was one of those people
that you would trust immediately.

She was all... all heart.

She grew up in Pennsylvania.

She had people around her that cared
about her, who she loved to death.

And she was doing the same thing
with her family.

Her marriage was very important to her.

She was definitely hands-on with the kids.

And she helped Larry with the business.

She supported Larry,

and she worked very hard
to make him successful, that's for sure.

As a young dentist, there was
a job opportunity with The Dentistry.

And that's when I met Dr. Larry Rudolph
and his wife, Bianca.

Larry Rudolph
was a charming, smart, happy guy.

And Bianca was just a sweet person.
I really liked her.

And I thought, well, this is a place
I wanna... I wanna be.

People would love
to come and see Dr. Rudolph.

He seemed like a nice guy,
with a nice family.

They thought that
he would really take care of them.

I grew up with very crooked teeth.

So I had braces three times,
looking for perfection.

Working with Dr. Rudolph

allowed me to feel the gratification
of actually helping a patient.

Larry Rudolph was a big personality.

Patients loved him.

Most loved him,
but he also had another side.

The bad part just started to get too bad.

There was a Jekyll and a Hyde there.

Cut.

- Yeah, what's up?

You know who
they're interviewing me about?

-Who?
- Who do you think?

Uh, Larry.

Larry Rudolph.
I met him years ago.

Larry and Bianca were very good
at the building of the practice.

And the practice flourished.

Larry came to me
for help with financial planning.

So I had insurance on him
and insurance on her.

My clients were professionals.

People that led normal lives.
He was a bit abnormal.

Larry produced an amazing amount
of dentistry and cash.

So, uh, we wanted
to keep that going, of course.

And so we... you know, we gave him
a longer leash, so to speak.

He wanted to be that playboy
with wealth, power and women.

From day one,

everyone knew that Dr. Rudolph
always had someone on the side.

He would come on to everybody.

He used to tell me,

"It's like going to Kennywood
and riding the Laser Loop."

It's a thrill for him.

We would get comments from patients
all the time.

"Are you hiring by hair color?"
'Cause he had mostly blondes.

Did you have dinner and drinks with her?

Uh, light dinner,
couple of cocktails, yes.

Did you kiss her?

Yes, sir.

On the mouth or on the cheek?

Recollection? On the mouth.

Was it a French kiss
or of the general variety?

I don't recall.

He was a womanizer.

Maybe he needed, uh, horndog rehab.

A story that I don't know is true,

but one of his assistants had told me

he would go over to her apartment
once in a while for a quickie.

Apparently she once gave him,

how can I say this?

Oral sex.

After that,
she immediately went to her kitchen,

spit into a baggie,
put it in her freezer and saved it.

Just in case. She could tell his wife.

I don't know. You want to test it?

It comes from Larry Rudolph.

That's a jizz bag from Larry.

Larry had several mistresses
over the years.

And of course,
the last one was Lori Milliron.

Lori started working
at The Dentistry

somewhere in the early 2000s.

She was like the opposite of Bianca.

Bianca had auburn hair,
and she was probably about 5'4.

But Lori was thin, tall and blonde.

A patient came in saying,

"I saw Dr. Rudolph
at this restaurant the other day,

and he was with his wife I guess."
And I said, "Oh, his wife."

She goes,
"Yeah, it was a real pretty blonde."

Wasn't his wife. It was Lori.

They weren't shy about where they went
and if people would see them.

He felt he could do anything
'cause this was his practice.

I used to say we were our own version of
the soap opera, "As the Tooth Rotates."

Just business.

One day I get a phone call.
It's his wife, Bianca.

And I was trying to explain to her,
"There's something going on here."

And she said, "Larry would never
do that to me, I treat him too good."

And the funny thing is,
he said the same thing

when I said to him one time, "What
would you do if Bianca ever did this?"

He goes, "She would never do this to me,
I treat her too good."

At the end of the day,
I think he loved Bianca.

But she didn't know he was cheating.

He treated her different
than I ever saw him treat anyone.

It just seemed like it shifted toward

spending more money
for things that they wanted.

I remember he made a reservation
at a really nice restaurant,

had wine at the table.

They built houses all over the place.

They started taking vacations every
six weeks. Trips to Africa frequently.

He was in Africa all the time to get
some certain goat for his collection.

I knew that Larry was an expert hunter.

Bianca enjoyed going on
these various trips with him.

She became an expert hunter,
much like him. I think he enjoyed that.

Hunting became her passion.
She got very good at it.

It was a bonding thing between them,
which was important to her.

He was very successful.

And part of that was shown
in the animals that he hunted.

Because you don't do that
unless you've got the money to do it.

And he had money to do whatever he wanted.

But then he gets greedy
and takes everything too far.

I was on a safari, in Zambia.

And I was fishing
on the banks of the river.

And, um, it was early morning.
Actually, I caught a fish.

I was bringing the fish in
and when I reached for it,

the crocodile came out, grabbed me,
pulled me in, rolled me over.

I received a call
from Larry Rudolph in Zambia.

He said, "Bill, I just got
my finger bit off by a crocodile."

I said, "Get out of here."

He said,
"All of a sudden this crocodile comes up

and grabs both the fish and my finger,

gets me into the river,
rolls me like crocodiles do."

I said I didn't even know
crocodiles rolled people, but...

Yeah, we have our own theories
about what happened there.

Which one's in-in Zambia,
crocodiles or alligators?

Crocodiles.

Okay, croc. We'll say "croc."

Great.

When you're reaching down,
what's there first?

Your fingers.
How did it get just his thumb

and not his whole hand
or all of his fingers?

- Or kill him.
- Yeah!

A dentist requires the use
of both of his hands.

The accident that I had
resulted in nerve damage to my left hand.

Larry said, "Bill, this is alarming to me.

I don't know that I'll ever be able
to perform dentistry again."

"Because he's a dentist,
he needs all ten fingers."

Well, I can tell you, he doesn't.

Larry said, "I want to file
a claim to get disability insurance

because I can no longer do dental work."

And then he sent me
a picture of his finger.

It was pretty gruesome. Pretty gruesome.

I mean, he had lost a digit on his hand...
...to a crocodile.

So we filed a claim.
They did a lot of inquiries.

He did qualify
for the disability insurance.

He was getting $30,000 a month,
tax-free, by the way.

He either cut it off or shot it off or...
I don't know.

And was anybody with you when
you experienced this crocodile attack?

With me when it happened?
No, sir. No, sir.

Larry came back thinking,
I won't do any dentistry.

I'll just look over everything and just be
the seat, the chief operating officer.

But it seemed like it quickly turned.

He would see patients
when we were closed for cash only.

Do all these crowns. Take a lot of cash.

Put it in his pocket.

Pay each girl who worked a few bucks,
and that was it.

He was taking any cash that came
into the office, despite our partnership.

And he did that after he was
deemed completely disabled

and permanently disabled.

My partner and I said,
"That is unacceptable.

That's stealing. That's thievery."

Stole from his partners.

I confronted him.

And I said,
"You took a lot of money from us.

Here's your options.

There will be a lawsuit
when we press charges for embezzlement,

or you just walk away
and we won't say anything.

But you need to leave us alone,
you're out."

And that's the option he took.

He said it never happened

because he was never charged
with that crime.

Yeah.

And that's the last we saw
of Larry Rudolph.

I thought it was great.

Until about a week after.

And then he opened a practice
across the parking lot from our practice,

and it's still there.

Oh, yeah, he did that on purpose.

He was a very ballsy kind of guy.

"Yeah, look at me, look at all the cars
in front of my place."

Yeah, I'm sure that
that had everything to do with it.

Normal people aren't like that.

Something's going wrong
up in the synapses up there.

He started billboards,
commercials,

just getting in our face a lot.

It's batshit. Batshit crazy.

I had a bad dental experience long ago
and it stuck with me all these years.

Man, that really hurt. I called

I saw a lot of the commercials.

They were always, like, on in the morning
when you watch the news.

He liked being on TV.

When I started at Three Rivers,

I met Larry and Bianca,

and their daughter, AnaBianca,
who worked there.

They seemed like a really great family.

Ana and I got close.

We liked the same things.
We just got along.

My name is Anna Grimley, and I was
a manager at Three Rivers Dental.

When I first met Bianca and Larry,

she reminded me of somebody
like Jacqueline Onassis type of a person.

Very well put together. Just classy.

We got along great,
and they offered me a job.

I get there on my first day,
and that's where I met Lori.

At the time,
did not know what her position was.

I knew she came
from The Dentistry with him

and that they started
Three Rivers together essentially.

And there was, like,
a little gossip about it at the office.

Come to find out they're together
and this is all a secret.

The staff sort of feared her, I would say.
Some people did.

She was just cold. I mean, there was
not really any time she was really nice.

And Larry would really
just lose his temper.

We're all just trying to like get through
the day without him screaming at us.

Staffing was most challenging.

Particularly young people,
very fragile in a workplace.

For them it was, "Well, I've been here
six, eight months, I'm not going anywhere.

I'm gonna get another job."
Boom, they quit.

There was one girl I felt really bad for.

Dr. Rudolph thought she rolled her eyes
during a meeting

and threw a fit and told her
to get her stuff and get the fuck out.

You'd be threatened with your job
if you didn't do what he wanted.

Dr. Rudolph had such a temper.

His day became all about making money.

And he couldn't make the money
if he didn't produce,

and if he wasn't producing,
he was just mad.

We started doing every tooth a root canal
even when they didn't need it.

So now he's making $1000 for a root canal
that maybe takes him a half hour to do.

So that's a lot of money.

I would call it a root canal factory, yes.

We had one patient
and all she needed was her tooth smoothed.

He went in, lopped off
more of the tooth, took an X-ray,

and we proceeded to do a root canal
and a crown on her.

He was mixing the material
and putting it into a syringe device

to place it into the tooth.

It was a wisdom tooth,
so it was hard to see.

Placement was tough.

He threw the syringe and I was standing
right at a patient's head

and he hit me right here in the shoulder.

I turned around and left
and went to the bathroom.

I was so upset. And he never said a word.

A lot of times
I took the brunt of his tirades,

which is part of the reason why I left.

I worked for Dr. Rudolph for 23 years.

But when I quit, I lost my 401(k).

I'd have a nice retirement fund,
which I don't... ...so let's stop.

I'm-I'm good.

It sucks. It just... It just sucks.

He built up bad karma for sure.

What about Lori?

I do believe
that Lori truly was part of the problem.

At first I thought
maybe he was more powerful over her,

but after a while I realized
she had as much power over him,

that they were pretty much equal.

He depended on her.

She was making
a ton of money for the practice.

They both wanted the power and the money.

He was funding her vacations,
paying the bills.

But he would always say
I'm not divorcing Bianca.

No one's getting half of my money.
This is just what I do on the side.

At some point,
Lori was so tired of being an affair.

She wanted what Bianca had.

It was all about the money.
She's completely evil.

My name is Steph
and my mom is Lori Milliron.

Larry pursued her for,
I don't know, a year plus.

He was trying to get her
to go out with him

and she was like, "No, no thanks,
like, I'm too busy for this."

There's such a wrong impression
of who my mom is

and the values that she has and maintains.

She's an awesome mom.

She's also my best friend
and I love her dearly.

My mom always tried to make sure
that we had the best childhood

that we possibly could have.

She taught me that you try to give back
and you be kind to people.

She spent a lot of time with the elderly.

She would mend their clothes, hem them.
So that was always really nice.

After the divorce,
she was forced to have multiple jobs.

When she started full-time
at Three Rivers,

we definitely saw the progression.

Six, seven, eight, nine...

She absolutely had a hand in the business,

which is so different
than just showing up as an employee.

You actually have a vested interest
in wanting it to be successful.

She was spending most of her time at work.

And then,
I probably didn't help her social life

with as many activities that I was in.

Um...

I wanna say I was, like, 15
when they went on their first trip.

It looks like you got a bend, Lori.

Wanna try to get, when you get him close,

in the water.

I think the biggest thing

that really attracted her to him
was just how kind he was.

- I got video. Yeah. Got them.

Larry did a lot of
charity work for veterans

where he would pay for them to have,

like, full restoration
of all of the teeth in their mouth.

So she saw how generous he was.

I needed a new cheerleading bag and shoes,
so he would, you know, give her money.

It makes me smile thinking that, you know,

all the times that she did ask,
it went to us kids.

They looked really, really happy.
She deserves it.

to introduce her to anybody again.
