and I'm one of them.

[Jamie] Wild man back again, all the way through Scotland, up here in Australia

to take on the ultimate Naked And Afraidchallenge.

[Darrin] I cannot wait for this challenge to begin.

The place is gonna be as brutal as it is amazing.

Like surviving here is no joke.

[narrator] The Australian Outback a two million square mile

expanse of savannahs, deserts and dust

that has remained virtually uninhabited

and untouched for millions of years.

One of the driest continents on earth,

with radical temperature swings

that cause heatstroke by day and hypothermia by night.

Few humans survive this land of extremes

and hidden dangers.

Australia is definitely bigger, badder,

more intense than any place I've ever been.

[narrator] Combining mystery and misery.

Since ancient times, indigenous peoples have warned of dark spirits.

Notorious for fogging the brain.

This land of total isolation claims 40 lives per year,

while many more vanish without a trace.

The Outback has been carefully selected to test these veteran survivalists,

who have each completed multipleNaked And Afraid challenges.

Every competitor has been given a primitive survival rating

or PSR.

Calculated by experts,

the PSR measures each survivalist range of skills

based on their performance in previous challenges.

[Ky] I've devoted my life to survival.

Started as an outdoor guide became a stunt double.

I've written six books on survival.

And I've participated in some of the most extreme Naked And Afraid challenges.

I recently had major surgery, but I have some unfinished business.

[screaming and howling]

I think I proved myself in the previous Last One Standing.

There is no token about this female.

I came within one arrow of winning this thing.

This time the title is staying right here.

I started as a fan and ended as a legend.

This is completely different

than any other Naked And Afraid I've taken on.

I consider myself the max of all trades.

I can hunt, I can build, I could forge.

I've proven myself throughout every single challenge.

[Laura] I never thought I'd be out here competing.

I've been living survival

for the better part of 15 years.

So, survival isn't a hobby for me,

it's what I live day to day.

I was one of the first to do 21 days.

I was the first to do a 40 and a 60.

60 days right here.

I'm gonna give this challenge the best I got.

Let's see if everyone else can keep up.

I'm here in Australia, to ramp it up.

I'm a full time sponsored athlete,

specializing in thru-hiking.

But I got the biggest kill,

I've been preparing my whole life

for a challenge like this.

I know that I have the skill.

So I have full intentions of winning.

I would say the toughest competition out here

is going to be people like Ky,

who was last year, you know, pretty much second to winning.

Laura, who has proven to the world that she is tough as nails.

But without a doubt, the greatest threat

is probably going to be Darrin

and I plan to send each and every one of them home early.

The egos out here are really big.

Everybody has had way more Naked And Afraid experience than I have.

I need to be able to step up to my competition,

and send them home.

I've spent a lot of years, never came up to my bag with clothes on,

but let's check it out.

This looks like part of a fire starter.

There's a scroll and a Firestarter.

This is how the thing starts.

What do we got here?

Welcome to the Australian Outback.

Congratulations on your chance to compete to be the Last One Standing.

To earn your place in this competition,

you must light a pyre in the river below.

Oh, my God, that's crazy!

[narrator] The survivalists begin the competition with a multi-phase test,

to create and transport fire.

The movement of coals over land and water

is a critical skill for keeping fire alive through migrations.

First, they must scour the basalt fields for necessary resources,

using their skills and knowledge

to locate a stone that is effective as a primitive striker.

Which they will scrape against their pharaoh rods to create fire.

And find buoyant wood and bark for a vessel

capable of transporting flames over water.

In the final phase, the survivalists will swim

their fire to the center of the river.

And attempt to ignite a floating pyre.

Once lit, they must swim to shore

and retrieve a scroll to finish.

Okay, it's a little different.

Wow.

[narrator] Men and women will compete separately,

the first woman and man to finish

will earn their choice of a bow and arrow.

Or a fishing asset.

If you are one of the last two to finish, you are not safe.

Whoa!

The last two men and women to finish will face off

in an elimination challenge on day two.

[laughs]

The last two men and women. Shoot.

Oh, wow.

[Max] There's so much more pressure because of the caliber

of the people that are out here.

It's gonna be four losers today,

I don't want to go to bed on day one

wondering if I'm going home on day two.

[Matt] There's a lot at stake here.

I've got a pretty big target on my back

because if anyone wants to win this thing,

they're gonna have to come through me first.

And nobody wants to go home day two.

Disrobe, because your challenge starts now.

Disrobe, because your challenge starts now.

Let's freaking go.

[Matt] Multiple people are going home tomorrow,

and I don't plan on losing this challenge.

[Jermaine] Everything's at stake right now.

There's no way that I want to go home on day two.

And the thing is, I've got 13 other people who feel the same way.

This is going to be intense.

[Max] It would be devastating to be the first person to go home.

[narrator] For the first phase of the challenge,

the survivalists must find a natural striker

and gather materials for both fire and a floating vessel.

[Kaiela] Sprinting down these rocks,

I cannot stumble,

I cannot make one wrong move.

I do not want to be the first one out.

[Laura] It's day one, and we're already in a challenge.

[Suzanne] Laura's wild. I'm comin' for you, Laura.

There's no getting warmed up here,

you're just thrown in.

[exclaims]

[Patrick] I'm going against some real legends this time.

I need to get there first.

I need to find the best striker for my Firestarter.

I see some big rocks that'll work, but they're not perfect.

[Matt] The first thing to do is I have to find a rock capable of shedding sparks

to light something on fire.

I am incredibly confident,

and I have made primitive fire

hundreds of times using a ferro rod, and a rock.

It's just about picking up the right piece

and using the right side of it.

Yes, sir.

I see a rock.

It's kind of orange, meaning it has iron in there.

Which means it should be able to strike.

But the essential key here

is to make sure that it's like a 90-degree edge,

so it really sheds a spark.

[speaking]

[narrator] Similar to extremely hard rock like flint,

when a sharp edge of basalt strikes a ferro rod

tiny shavings of iron release through friction and chemical oxidation.

This metal ignites into hot sparks,

which can be used to light a fire.

[Patrick] I grab whatever tinder I can with my hands.

I'm finding small sticks,

some medium sized sticks.

There's snakes everywhere, but I don't care.

I would rather go out in a helicopter than go out in an elimination challenge.

Snakes be damned!

I'm getting this fire going.

All right, start grabbing stuff.

Grab everything, everything, everything.

We gotta build the raft.

We gotta build the raft.

I'm the only one here.

It's just me.

There's going to be a few people out here

that are going to underestimate me,

but I've been trained

by the military to survive

in every environment on the planet.

I can climb any tree than any of these men can,

I can do everything that they can do,

and I can do it better.

All right, here we go again.

Step one, gather materials.

I immediately see paper bark to make my raft.

[sighs] Feels like it'll float.

I may not have as many days under my belt

as a lot of these guys,

but I think that gives me an advantage.

I do better when people doubt me

because it gives me hat extra push

to prove people wrong.

I'm coming in here the underdog

but I'm gonna [bleep] crush it.

[breathing heavily] Yeah! Yes!

Okay.

[Trish] There's some pretty stiff competition out here.

I've seen their skill sets and this is a tough crowd.

But Jersey's in Australia.

I have skills,

I don't need to ride anybody's coattails.

I'm tough, determined.

I'm gonna give it all I got.

So, you better watch out.

Looks like we got a good spark,

but will it be enough to start this on fire?

[Matt] I need to look for something that works

for a flotation device.

It's pretty solid.

This time I'm not overdoing it.

On the initial Last One Standing,

I left early.

Oh, I got a cramp.

I'm gonna freaking miss you guys.

So, this go round.

I need to stay healthy and not be injured.

But right now, I'm trying to get my fire going.

I want to finish first.

I want to get my choice of an item

and I want to be safe.

We are all fighting

not to go to elimination tomorrow.

You better believe I've been practicing fire.

Boom, fire!

Put some smaller sticks on top and now it's time to craft my vessel.

Holy [bleep] he's moving.

Wow.

I think I'm gonna build the fire first

and get some good coals.

Good tinder bundle.

My main priority here is to make a fire.

If I can make a fire, then I can think about the flotation device.

All right. I definitely want to try this out.

I'm thinking right now, I don't want to put something

that's on fire on my vessel and then catch my vessel on fire.

So, if I get this bark wet, it won't catch on fire.

Okay.

[Patrick] I find a Y stick that's really buoyant

and this massive piece of bark.

Boom! Now I have a pontoon raft.

Like, why are you gonna overthink it?

I'm not trying to make like a Huckleberry Finn

kind of raft to go down a river.

I'm just trying to swim a flame out there.

[Jamie speaking]

Some people here have, like four times as many days as me.

But that does not faze me at all, this is a competition.

What's done in the past is done.

I'm in the zone, man.

I'm ready for war.

I was the first and only person in Scotland

to do a Naked And Afraid challenge.

I got the job done.

Still stronger than ever. Come on!

And guess who's going to be the last one standing?

You're looking right at him.

I struck that ferro rod

and there's a spark instantly.

To be able to transfer the fire,

what I want to do is actually put it on here.

Let it burn down.

[Patrick] Everyone was heckling me

for my legend slayer hat,

and nobody is even close to me.

Right now, I'm feeling pretty good. I'm heading to the water.

[Trent] Oh, damn.

I see Patrick already ripping out,

and then I look up and Jamie's already got his fire going.

Some people are definitely crushing right now.

[narrator] The legends have fallen behind

as Max and Matt have not lit their fires.

Patrick is just one step away from winning this competition.

[Matt] Patrick's way ahead.

I go into a bit of a panic mode.

[man] What's taking so long?

[Matt] If I don't move, I'm going home.

[dramatic music playing]

Right now, I'm feeling pretty good.

I'm heading to the water.

[Trent] Oh, damn.

[man] What's taking so long?

[Jamie] What the[bleep]. It's Patrick in the water already?

[narrator] In the men's challenge, Patrick is first

to swim his flame to a floating pyre.

While on land only Jamie has achieved fire.

The first two to finish will earn survival items.

[Trent] [bleep]

[Patrick] Nobody is evenclose to me.

I'm talking about,

I don't even know where they are.

They're still working on fire.

What's taking you so long?

Am I supposed to be teaching them how to make fire?

[Matt] Now it's a sharp edge.

A good nest going here.

[Patrick] Oh, my gosh.

I just finished first place in the challenge.

This is crazy.

I just sent a message.

And guess what,

there's a bow, baby.

I'll be taking this!

I could choose the fishing line,

but I'm thinking in the future. One,

I have an opportunity for a big game kill

which I've already proven

that I can do out here on Last One Standing.

And two, it's gonna allow me to dial-in my accuracy

with this bow for future competition.

Matt Wright might be a great hunter,

but I got the bow, baby!

[narrator] In the women's challenge,

all seven survivalists remain on land

as they attempt to start fire with their primitive strikers.

[panting]

Give me some wind protection.

I don't need to build this crazy

big raft for a fire.

As long as I can make it across

and light the fire before

my flotation device burns, I'll be fine.

Yeah, yeah, yeah.

Okay, I got fire. Okay.

I have a feeling that I might be first,

but I don't have time to look around.

I cannot focus on anything

other than making sure that this fire gets hot quick,

so I can transfer it to my raft.

[Laura] I'm working on my fire

and I smell smoke

and I see Kaiela Hobart has got hers. Challenge on!

I get motivated to go even faster.

[Kaiela] My flotation device has my fire on it.

It is catching on fire and I start to panic

because I realize that if I'm not quick,

that my entire piece of bark

is gonna ignite and I'm gonna lose my fire.

It's hot, it's hot, it's hot, it's hot.

[Laura] I'm going for it.

There's one person

who's gonna be first across that finish line.

I need to win this challenge.

So, Laura's done, surprise.

[Kaiela] I look ahead and I see

that none of the other pyres have been lit.

And realize that I'm ahead, I'm winning, I'm first.

But I know that I cannot break stride.

Having first choice of assets

is a huge leg-up in this challenge.

[Laura] I know she's ahead of me.

I'm still gonna just focus on how good I'm doing

because if anything happens, if she slows down,

if she gets caught up,

that might be an opportunity to win.

[Kaiela] I wanna win, to prove to myself

and to everybody else out here

that I belong here,

and I'm somebody you should be watching out for.

[Laura] I didn't come out here to just win the final challenge.

I came out here to win every challenge.

[Kaiela] It means everything, winning first place.

I've been underestimated in past challenges,

and it feels incredible

to prove this to myself and to everybody else out here

that I haven't done as many challenges,

and people don't know me, but they probably should.

I'm gonna go, [panting]

for the fishing kit.

I've been really successful in the past,

with [panting] fishing on these challenges.

And I don't have near as much experience of the bow.

So, this makes sense. Whoo!

She's fast. That was awesome.

I am not sad,

about my second place prize of a bow, though.

You definitely have an opportunity

for some big kills out here. And,

I've never had a bow on a challenge.

So, this is a first for me. I'm stoked.

[narrator] Both survival items have been claimed

in the women's challenge.

But on the men's side, only Patrick has finished

and the fishing asset is still up for grabs.

now I got to get to the basics here.

What I'm doing now is I'm fluffing this up.

For the tinder bundle,

I wanted to make sure I didn't skip the attention detail,

and I'm actually grinding up

and balling up some of this paper bark.

What that's doing is it's breaking the fibers down,

allowing smaller fibers

to catch that little spark better.

[Jamie speaking]

Just get to the water.

See, if it floats all right.

And we're here with the best of the best,

the remaining competitors

are fighting to avoid elimination.

At the women's challenge, Suzanne has pulled ahead.

We make sure this fire can go on its own a little bit.

...Matt begins crafting his vessel.

Darrin gets his fire.

Okay, got a little fire going.

[narrator] Followed by Max.

Just got the fire started.

[narrator] Only Trent and Jermaine

do not have fire.

Come on, you piece of [bleep].

[Matt] I find a piece of bark.

I find some of this lighter wood

and I'm making a raft out of that.

So, what I need to do here,

take a calculated guess.

Will it float?

[Darrin] This is just my little

thing to put my fire on top of so it doesn't burn through.

[Matt] Okay, Let's do this.

[Darrin] I am going for it.

[Matt] Ah, [bleep] hot!

Holy [bleep]!

I'm transferring this little raft

to the water and it floats.

Any misstep now I know my fire could douse.

[pants] Come on.

One shot to do this right.

I am gingerly floating this thing across.

[panting]

[bleep] hot.

[grunts]

[grunts] [bleep]

I get up to the pyre

and I realized that, that raft had a bunch of water in it

and I just doused my entire hot flames.

I might be in serious trouble.

Ah! [bleep]

Ah! [bleep]

[narrator] With Patrick and Jamie

claiming the top spots,

the remaining men are racing to complete the challenge.

The last two men to finish

will face off in an elimination.

[grunts] [bleep]

I get up to the pyre

and I realized that, that raft had a bunch of water in it

and I just doused my entire hot flames.

I just lost my coals.

As I put my fire in the water, the grass unsprings

and tosses most of my fire [chuckles] out of my nest.

Come back and grab a few more coals.

[blowing]

[Max] My raft is a big piece of paper bark.

And I just threw a couple of stacks.

So, it made this nice little boat, really buoyant.

[Max] I see Matt heading back

and his pyre looks like it's smoking

but for some reason, he's heading back.

I have no clue why, didn't ask. Doesn't matter.

I gotta bring this pyre to fire.

I'm in a, a cool third place.

I was hoping for second or first,

so I get those items.

But it's my first challenge.

It's really just trying to figure out what's gonna work

and what's not gonna work out here.

I'm not going home!

[Matt] What's going through my mind right now

is how in the heck did I just fail

doing the easiest part of this task?

[sighs]

[narrator] Forced to start over,

Matt returns to the fire rings

where Jermaine and Trent are working to make fire.

[Trent] It is hard, literally hard for me

to hold this little rock strong enough

to hit that striker.

[Jermaine] [grunts] [bleep]

I gotta try a different rock.

I still got coals.

Got fire.

[narrator] Darrin, meanwhile, fills his rebuilt vessel

with leftover coals and heads to the water.

[Trent] [bleep]

[narrator] With his fire ablaze,

Darrin secures a fourth place finish.

[Darrin] I don't know if Matt's off his game right now,

but bigger the legend, the harder they're gonna fall.

I didn't come in last that's all that matters.

Whoo!

[narrator] Three women are safe,

but four are still competing.

The bottom two will face off

in an elimination challenge tomorrow.

[Cheeny] My fire is way bigger

than I was planning on it being.

Ow. [bleep]

So, now I have this crazy fire blazing.

The wind is blowing at me.

I don't wanna burn my hand. I don't wanna burn anything.

Ow. [bleep] I'm gonna build a new raft.

It's not gonna work. [bleep]

I'm thinking it's time to redo the whole thing again.

If I'm not getting it, there's got to be a reason.

People think that being Australian,

I've got a hometown advantage.

But Australia is the size of America.

The environment here

couldn't be more different from where I live.

There has to be something I can do differently.

Different striker, different tinder.

[Trish] I have really good tinder,

but nothing wants to ignite.

Day one, on the previous season

ofLast One Standing , I came in first.

[bleep] Yes.

I hooked it.

Yes. First!

What? That's incredible.

So, the longer that I'm trying to ignite this fire,

the more frustrated I'm getting.

[Cheeny] It's coming down to the wire now.

I can say after many, many years in the military

and being in stressful situations,

the key to success is keeping your cool,

quit getting in your head and just[bleep] move.

I'll just have to go about ten feet into the water.

At least my hands will be covered now

because I'm holding the sticks on the bottom of the platform.

Moving. [panting]

[Cheeny speaking]

Ah. [exhales] Whoo!

Feeling like a real,

[exhales] real bad bitch right now.

[narrator] Kaila C, Trish and Ky

are fighting for the last safe spot.

With the final two facing

a head to head elimination challenge tomorrow.

Trick is now to put enough on there

that it doesn't go out.

[Kaila] I see that Ky has a fire,

but I'm still gonna give it hell,

because there's still hope, she's not in the water yet.

The pyre isn't lit. Anything could happen.

So, I'm just gonna keep trying

and just pray that one of these sparks catch.

[Ky] I'm just gonna... [panting]

take this part slowly.

I don't want it to tip off.

I need it to be a bit stable.

I'm just gonna pile it and see if it floats.

that I'm transporting is insane.

I am walking through some of the deadliest snake grounds in the world,

so I have to move quickly but also, I have to be cautious

because these snakes will kill you.

to establish and fortify their camps

My concerns at the moment with you

are that we can't see the depth of the burn,

and that's why we wait 24 hours.

What we're gonna do is put some cream on it overnight.

That means it actually burned past the normal flesh,

normal skin layer into the muscle.

is an injury.

So if you don't think I'm worried about it now,

a little bit terrified.

Second-degree burns affect two skin layers,

while third-degree or full thickness burns

he may need to be removed from the challenge.

and you could hear it very clearly.

Something big was moving around.

We've got crocodiles here.

Australia's a bad, bad bitch.

So we're going to construct a little wickiup,

so that if we do have an issue

where the animals want to charge us,

we've got some protection.

[narrator] Wickiups are traditional shelters

built by nomadic native American tribes.

Tall tree limbs are arranged to form a cone-shaped frame,

leaving space inside for a fire.

Then, forest debris woven between the branches,

insulating the structure and providing some protection.

At least with this, it'll hold the heat in...

-[Jermaine] Yeah. Mm-hmm. -[Cheeny]...somewhat. Yeah.

Holy [bleep]!

That is the biggest spider I've ever seen in my life.

So this is a reminder that these things

are anywhere and everywhere,

and we need to be very careful.

Yesterday, I had a bad day.

Today, it could be my elimination.

Weighs heavy that I put myself in this predicament so early

and, hell, y'all back home probably never thought I'd be in this.

It's a heavy game, people. Heavy game.

I have to constantly remember my dad taught me as a kid.

You know, you got to shake off those bad games, shake them off,

It doesn't do any good to think about it.

Well, it's hard to shake it off.

When you put your heart and soul into everything,

it's a hard-- It's a hard pill to swallow.

I, uh, I need to win that challenge.

Took one step out there...

it's too hot.

You can't even walk on it.

I don't move fast on this stuff.

Not knowing what's going to happen,

knowing that I have to be on my game,

that gives me a little bit of anxiety.

not only out of the challenge, but out of this competition,

Today, we'd be strategizing on catching something, finding something.

How do we stay here and survive,

instead, we're just trying to figure out how to survive until tomorrow.

[Ky] The sand is, um, quite large grained

and incredibly corrosive on our feet.

[Darrin] We don't really know where we are.

We got hidden late last night.

We decided it's a good day to go scouting for some opportunities,

and so we're gonna go explore our surroundings,

see what we can find around us today.

[Darrin] I mean, we're in Australia.

There's gonna be a lot of hidden threats.

[Ky] That's reptile poop here.

So it's either a really big snake

or it's a freshwater crocodile up here.

[Darrin] Oh, look at that snake, Kaiela.

[Kaiela] Oh, my God.

[Ky] Lesson number one in Australia,

don't mess with any snake.

In Australia, sometimes it can be really hard to tell

what kind of snake you're dealing with.

[Darrin] Let's give him his space.

[Ky] Almost all of the snakes have a lot of different color morphs,

which means that a brown snake can be anything from black to golden

and anything in between.

I mean, it's good to know that they're here to keep an eye out for them.

[Darrin] Definitely.

[Kaiela] My partners seem super knowledgeable.

They seem like they have a ton of experience surviving,

but it's all still intimidating to me,

even though I won the first challenge, that does not mean anything.

It's hard not to doubt yourself sometimes.

My 40-day challenge

was one of the most wild roller coasters I've ever been on.

I think I'm gonna self-med tap.

This whole thing sucks, like--

I'm gonna leave the challenge.

I feel like her tap out is just coming right behind mine.

I feel like it's been curveball after curveball.

[Kaiela] I had Andrew and Cole as partners

and lost them by day four and five,

and then spent two weeks by myself.

But it was actually one of the best things

that could have happened for me,

and I proved to myself that not only could I be out there

and make the full time, but I did a lot of it by myself.

I am excited to be out here with these survivalists

and prove to them that I do have what it takes,

and I'm gonna be the last one standing.

is doubt in people's minds, fear of what is gonna happen.

I want everyone looking over their shoulder all the time,

wondering what's gonna happen next,

if they're gonna have to worry about me stealing or tricking them.

[Suzanne] The first thing out of Patrick's mouth

is about the fishing line and hooks,

and we should set some passive ones over here.

And I'm just like,[sighs], "Here he goes."

Laura has taken off to go forage and do some bow hunting,

just kind of get a lay of the land.

[Max] So I'm just kind of looking along the stream,

seeing what's around me, maybe find some mussels.

We need to try to get food.

It's a really well used game trail.

[Laura] This is the first challenge

I've ever had a bow in my hands, and I'm so excited.

I am a primitive bow hunter.

I've been building and hunting with my own bows for over 20 years now.

Scouting is a really important part of hunting.

You need to know where the animals are,

so that you can go out and set yourself up for success.

[whispering] Really fresh [bleep].

[whispering] This is a really good area for pigs to wallow.

[Laura] This challenge is completely different

from any other challenge I've ever done,

because you have to do all the things we do in a normal challenge,

but then be at the top of your game

for the next time that we're competing out here.

It's a lot.

[Ky] Like every location, I have to learn a whole new fishing style.

It's day two and we've been over fishing for a while.

We're getting a few bites.

So we just plan to fish until dark today,

and hopefully feed ourselves and get strong for the next challenge.

[splashing]

[muffled grunting] Yeah!

-[Darrin chuckles] -[Kaiela] He came off right as I caught him.

[Kaiela wheezes]

[Kaiela] Oh, my God.

[Ky] Yep.

Kaiela smashed it with a fishing hook she won, and she got us a massive fish.

And I think it's fantastic to have another strong female competitor out here.

I think women should be about building women up out here.

[Ky laughs] Good job.

The more women we have out here that I know can kick ass,

the better I think this competition's going to be.

[Ky] We got food in our belly, day two.

[Ky] Magical.

-[Kaiela] This is not a tilapia. -[Ky] No.

[Darrin] These fish are called sooty grunters.

[Ky] You know what it looks like?

-[Ky] Dinner. -[Kaiela chuckling] Yeah, right?

[Kaiela] You know, I came into this the underdog,

and I definitely wasn't sure of myself.

But we came in first on our first challenge day on day one,

and now we're catching fish with the asset I won.

Mmm. It already tastes like it has lemon squeezed over it.

So it feels really good.

Building confidence slowly.

[Ky] It's sweet!

[Kaiela] Mm-hmm.

Way damn better than the catfish in Africa.

[Clay] I just thought I needed to pop down here

and just give you a little safety brief.

Apparently, there's been a few snakes spotted around your camp.

[Kaiela] What? What kind of--

[Clay speaking]

[Kaiela] Oh.

[Clay] Taipan is one of the most deadly snakes in the world.

You know, they strike multiple times.

Jesus.

[Ky] I'm starting to get a little bit concerned.

There's a lot of leaf litter around here,

and these snakes have some of the most deadly venom in the world.

Yeah, they're definitely active throughout the day.

As soon as it starts getting warm, they were out and about

During the evenings, early mornings, they're out hunting.

That's a pretty dangerous situation.

[Steve] All right. So if you do see one, just stand still.

Stand completely still. Let it go.

Yeah. Yeah.

You sneak up on it, that's when you're gonna get hit.

[Steve] If these things hit you,

they're gonna keep on hitting you.

[Kaiela] Oh, my God.

[Darrin] Yeah, I think Australia has like seven

of the top 10 most deadly snakes in the world.

And taipan is at the top of that list,

and you know, it's a little alarming

because we're sleeping in the dirt there

with you know, the world's most deadly snake.

[Kaiela] Okay.

[Kaiela] Pretty terrifying.

It's one of those snakes that if you get bit,

you are knocking on death's door.

So it just adds an extra layer of caution to everything we do,

because it could literally mean life or death.

[Kaiela] I do not want to be the first one out.

I'm not going home!

the PSR, or Primitive Survival Rating,

weighs an individual's survival skills and items collected

to determine the likelihood of becoming the last one standing.

In the day one men's challenge,

Patrick blazed by his competition,

What's taking so long?

resulting in a first place finish.

I'll be taking this.

I'm ready to ramp it up!

[narrator] But his strategy to play dirty...

I was actually looking to see if your lines were out

because I was gonna steal them.

[Kaiela] I do better when people doubt me

because it gives me that extra push to prove people wrong.

[narrator] ...to score first place in the women's competition

and secure fishing hooks in line.

People don't know me, but they probably should.

[narrator] Which she immediately turned into a large meal for her camp.

[narrator] Matt struggled to recover during the day one competition.

[Matt] I made a mistake,

and that mistake caused me catastrophic delay.

[narrator] Leaving him with a burned and blistered hand...

I woke up this morning with kind of a knot in my stomach,

because I know that today is challenge day,

and I don't know what to expect,

and I don't know if I'm going to be sent home,

I don't know who else is going to get sent home,

but I just-- I know that I don't want to go.

[Kaila] We had a bird circling us earlier.

-I think he thought we were dead. -[Trish] Yeah.

[Kaila] Going into competition with Trish,

she honestly is one of the people

that I really didn't want to go against.

She's a fierce competitor, but I'm gonna go out there and I'm gonna fight like hell,

and I'm gonna make sure that I stay in this.

[Trish] It feels like it's about 90c out right now.

[Kaila] I got to make something for my feet.

[Trish] We're out in this barren wasteland.

We have no cover, no shelter, no nothing.

There is nothing here.

Definitely hot sun.

[Trish] We don't have much tree coverage here.

I have no idea what to expect today,

but an advantage that I have over Kaila right now is I've been here already.

I've done 28 days in the previous Last One Standing.

I've been through these competitions,

so I'm mentally prepared for that,

and I'm not quite sure she is yet.

But whatever it is that I need to do, I'm gonna do it.

[Matt] All right, let's take a look, buddy.

[both groan]

[Matt] There it is.

[Trent] Mama.

[Matt] I burnt myself day one.

It was definitely worse than just losing the challenge

because I can't really grab what I need to,

because this burn has constricted this entire part of my hand.

That's a lot of burn. You got yourself good.

[Matt] It's stressful to go into some sort of a challenge with a hurt hand.

The stakes on this are absolutely huge.

[Nick] Can you make a fist at all?

-[Nick] Is that sore? -Oh, yeah.

[Nick] Yeah. Where's the pain?

It's here, all through in here.

[Nick] What we can do is essentially give a bit of a clean,

-wrap it up again, -[Matt] Yep.

-and try and reduce that risk of infection. -[Matt] Okay.

[narrator] If Matt's blisters burst,

the risk of infection,

and potential medical evacuation would rise significantly.

People call me the goat,

because no one survived like me before on this challenge.

Well, the only times I've ever had to leave is from an injury.

[Matt] In Ecuador,

[groans]

I got a flesh eating bacteria.

[Matt] My foot feels like it's on fire.

I can't even bend my toes anymore.

And I had to medically leave to make sure I can save my foot or my life.

[Matt] Sorry, guys.

I'm not coming. I'm--

I gotta go.

[Matt] Going Last One Standing,

I got a cramp.

it tore my calf muscle.

[Matt] I'm pretty positive I probably ripped something in my leg.

[Matt] Now, whole different continent, whole different challenge.

Just a little bit deja vu.

[Matt groans]

[Matt] The bad part is it's just kind of a ticking time bomb, you know?

Whether it can break open, get infected right on the joint like that.

It's at both joints.

[Nick] Yeah.

A little bit tight, a little bit of swollen pressure on that.

Here I am now with a non-functional hand.

So does it worry me?

Yeah.

Because the only thing that could take me out of a challenge

is an injury.

Yeah.

[Trent] Looks like we have a scroll.

Let the games begin.

but I will say, all I have to do is beat him one more time.

I know he's beatable. I beat him once.

The countdown has begun.

It's definitely begun.

[Trent] If I beat Matt Wright two days in a row in challenges,

people have to think that maybe I'm something they didn't think I was.

Maybe they didn't think I was a contender.

I think this will change their minds.

To secure your spot, you must gather the materials

required for a controlled burn.

The loser will immediately be eliminated.

[Matt] I'm in a position that I never thought I'd be in.

I'm about to go into another fire challenge with a burnt hand.

This is gonna hurt.

If I have to leave in the very first elimination challenge,

I can't even fathom the thought.
