Am I seeing double?

We're continuing double duty at sisters

Lena and Lisa's houses.

We're either crazy for doing this

or this was a crazy, good idea.

Two crews on two houses on two side-by-side lots.

The trickiest part is keeping them at the exact same pace.

All these cabinets have been mixed up.

We've got one floor plan,

but two very different interiors.

Two sinks?

-No, one sink is good. -No.

- One sink for you, two sinks for you, okay. - -Yeah.

Ay, ay, ay, ay.

Right now, it's still a tie.

It's up to a Cat 5 hurricane. 175-mile-per-hour winds.

We have not one, but two houses to secure.

It does not look like the right tile.

We got a water leak, man.

- What happened? - I don't know yet.

This is probably the hardest builds that we've ever done.

I was gonna say "welcome home,"

-but I think we have to say "welcome homes." -"Homes."

- Yeah. - Oh, my goodness.

These blueprints are gonna be a reality.

Brian and I know a thing or two about building

custom homes on fast timelines.

There's always a reason why they need their home

done in 100 days.

The second baby is on the way.

The hurricane season is around the corner.

And now, we're expanding to renovations, too.

We're gonna flip-flop everything in this house.

We don't know what's behind the walls.

Whether it's a new build or a renovation,

each project has its own set of challenges.

This is the exterior of the townhome.

- You raise that a foot, it's a lot of work. - -I know.

I know it is.

But the look on our client's faces

makes it all worth it.

-Oh, my God! -Oh, my gosh!

I am in heaven right now.

These houses are getting built side by side.

We're trying to reveal them at the same time,

so schedule-wise,

we gotta stay on the same pace.

Brian has got his work cut out for him.

We have liftoff!

We have the same team of subs

working on two houses.

He's got a lot to orchestrate and coordinate.

So, Tomy and Lena, this is the part

that I love the most

because this is when you can really put some

of your personality into the house.

I've already done a design meeting with Lisa and Louis.

So today, I'm gonna be doing a design meeting

with Tomy and Lena.

And even though Lisa and Lena are sisters

and they are technically building the same house,

they wanna make sure they have some individuality,

that these homes are different on the inside.

So the samples I brought today

are not necessarily the samples

that I showed Louis and Lisa in their design meeting.

We're doing this virtually.

So, sometimes showing these samples

over a computer screen,

I'm hoping that the colors

and the details translate clearly,

so you feel good about your decisions.

- Hope so. - Yes, fingers crossed.

So Tomy and Lena, they want more of, like,

a coastal, modern, something fresh.

And I think a part of that is them relocating

from New York to Florida.

So, they don't wanna duplicate

what they already have in New York.

I do have a couple of different tones for cabinetry.

This here has a darker wood tone.

This is the blue tone.

- Yeah. - Then, of course,

the white cabinets, but this is a soft white.

Yeah.

And then, last but not least, a little bit of green,

'cause that's kind of been trending lately.

Okay.

I'm thinking blue or green color.

Ooh!

Let me just put them side by side.

- Can you guys kinda see that? - Yeah.

Are you gravitating towards one of these more than the other?

Maybe blue at the bottom.

Yeah, yeah, that's what I'm thinking, too.

But one color on the top cabinet,

blue over the bottom.

Okay, so you're thinking this

for your lower cabinetry?

This could look really cool

paired up with white on the upper.

- Yeah, I think, uh, I... - I like that contrast color.

Let's look at a couple samples of this countertop

because we wanna make sure everything ties in together.

I don't want any too dark.

So, that kind of pulls really nice.

It's like the veining is almost the same color

- as the cabinet. - Yeah.

So, if you guys are set on that,

I can tell you right now, you did not pick any choices

that your sister picked so far.

Even though these houses

are right across from each other,

and yes, they are the same floor plan,

when you walk into your homes, you will definitely feel

like it's customized just for you guys.

two neighbors that weren't related,

but the fact that they bought this land

with the intention of basically having a family dwelling

Our two crews are working really hard

on these massive houses.

This week, we're actually drywalling.

On a smaller home,

this would take just a few days.

But being that these houses are like 4,000 square feet,

this is a full-week process for sure.

Well, this is gonna be fun and overwhelming.

We have so much going on today,

and it's everything times two.

So kitchen cabinets times two,

tile times two, trim times two.

They're doing the stucco outside.

Coordinating schedules simultaneously, it's been really, really tricky.

Two projects, basically one timeline

and turning into one big headache.

I'm looking for blue for the base cabinets.

-And then the uppers are white, right? -Yes, sir.

So we've had some mix ups and some bad news today.

This is supposed to be the calm before the storm.

Instead, we are frantically preparing these houses

for one of the biggest hurricanes that's ever hit this area.

Earl's got a plan of putting 2x4s every two feet.

- Yeah. - And then we'll put plywood right on top of that.

It feels weird to be doing framing after windows are already installed.

It's hurricane season, which we're used to building in Florida,

but, uh, we have a massive storm

heading directly to the Tampa Bay area,

something the area has not seen in over 100 years.

We do not have a lot of time to get ready.

I mean, it went from a tropical storm to a massive hurricane

pretty much overnight.

They are forecasting over 100-mile-per-hour winds.

I mean, some of these trees are so old.

I'm just worried with these winds we're gonna be getting,

they're gonna snap off becoming like missiles.

And this 9-foot by 9-foot window is like a bull's eye,

side of the house.

Oh, boy.

These 9-foot windows are the most vulnerable

'cause they're the closest to the trees.

If one of these trees penetrates the window,

we've got major problems on the inside.

But we gotta protect this window

And then the other house, we gotta do the same thing.

If we break one of these windows, water is getting in the house.

It's going to create pressure to maybe, I mean, blow out

the rest of the windows, the roof. So it's really important.

- We just put the floor down to. - -Yeah, okay.

We have less than 24 hours before this hurricane hits

and we have not one but two houses to secure.

This storm formed so quickly, it took us all by surprise.

I think the most nerve racking thing, too,

is like this is not just checking on one house.

We're checking on two homes.

If this would have went towards the house, we'd be rebuilding.

Every single tree that fell fell in the right direction.

I am so happy that we didn't actually have our special project installed yet.

We know the storm was pretty devastating

Is it messy? Yes.

Do we need to landscape? Yes.

But the biggest thing is no broken windows, no roof damage.

So we're not out of the woods yet,

but we will be once we clean all the trees up,

Bigger houses mean bigger countertops.

our special project getting installed.

It is a little bit stressful

-because these custom islands, they are massive. -Mmm.

like this is a step above that.

-This is more custom. -It is.

Typically, you can go into pretty much any stone warehouse

and find a jumbo slab, which is basically a slab

that's in one piece without any seams.

However, our homeowners on these two houses wanted to go even bigger.

Now that the countertops are in here,

it ties this kitchen as like one of the biggest kitchens we've ever done.

It's a whole different category,

which means that we had to do some resourcing

and actually get these from out of state,

which means they're not replaceable.

I can't wait to get furniture in here.

Put those personalized touches. Ooh. Ooh.

This is built to withstand 160-mile-an-hour winds.

We want this to be something the families both can enjoy for many, many years.

We're really glad we found you guys, 'cause I'm also loving the fact

that, esthetically, it's gonna kind of match the vibe of the house.

So it's like an extension of the square footage really.
