head judge Len Goodman,

who passed away
earlier this year.

Len was on this panel for
nearly all of our 31 seasons,

and though he is certainly
ir-ir-irreplaceable,

and yes he is, we wanted to
keep his spirit alive.

And that's why, as a tribute
to him, we redesigned

and renamed
our ultimate prize.

Let's get our first look at the

[Xochitl] I'm Xochitl Gomez,
I'm an actress,

and I have done lots of stunts,

but I don't really know,
like, ballroom dancing.

Stunts are hard.
Ballroom's hard.

We'll see how it goes. [laughs]

so I'm excited to
teach her how to dance.

I mainly just do kind
of like TikTok dances,

so that's kind of why
I appreciated everything you did

with Zendaya, just because
of how young she was

and having to
think outside of the box.

So our first dance
is going to be the cha-cha.

So you push. Whoo!

[Xochitl] Cha-cha's fast,
and I think

that is a good first dance

to show my personality.

We wanna balance, obviously.

We don't wanna chaos
in our routine.

The cha-cha requires
a lot of energy,

and Xochitl has a lot of it.

What we need to do now is
channel that energy.

I've been performing my whole life,

and Dancing With The Stars
has been on my bucket list,

as has learning how to
how to ballroom dance.

My buddy, Donny Osmond
was the oldest winner ever.

He was just a young pup,
around 51 years old when he won.

I'm coming after you, Donny.

-Dreams come true.
-Oh, my gosh.

My childhood memories
just came flooding back to me.

What do you want to get out of the show?

I'm not at the beginning of my career,

but I've always wanted
to learn to ballroom dance.

I would like to give younger generations

something they can look
forward to growing up in to.

-You've got great energy.
-I am excited.

And for my own generation to say
we can still put it on.

What do you think could be
your physical limitations?

The biggest thing is to be sure
that I'm stretched.

Mm-hmm.

Now, does this course come
with a chiropractor as well?

The foxtrot, it's very grand.
It's very smooth.

[Peta] Barry has some moves,
but the hips need a little oil,

a little zhuzhing up.

That was so effortless

The frame gets a little small in foxtrot.

There's going to be a lot of pivots

Make sure they keep the legs flexed.

That way you won't come up here
and this gets distorted.

But, my man, that like warmed my heart.

something that you get

is to really sort of embrace

Dancing is everything between the posing.

And what I saw was like you're
really heavy when you step

but that's because you're
hitting it, right?

And then models walk off tempo, right?

So, this is difficult for you

but I really loved your commitment.

And when you got into it with Jenna,

there were some really great moments

and I see a lot of potential.

-So, stick with it, okay?
-We'll get better.

You've got a lot to work on,

But my dancing experience is not great.

The judges can't make me cry
the first episode, right?

Have you ever danced before?

As a young toddler signed up for ballet

but I had the meanest teacher.

It was the recital and I kept
asking, "Can I get my tutu?"

And she was like, "No."

That was the first and last
of my dance career.

It traumatized me and I'm on
Dancing With The Stars now

to repair my childhood trauma.

So, for the premiere we're doing a salsa.

It's fun, fast, lots of hips.

Why are you doing that face?

When I saw Alyson move,

I realized the character and the acting...

Yeah. Yeah.

...is going to be the
best part for Alyson.

I tricked myself.

-She can't dance.
-Oh, I went the wrong way.

But by the end of the season
I think she's going to be

an amazing dancer.

like artistic dreams

that are not what I've always done.

Where is the passion to dance come from?

My dad and I used to watch

So my happiest moments

are swimming
in the Bay of Naples or dancing.

I love it.

This is so exciting.

My comfort zone is having
a script and character to play.

So you're gonna go cha cha...

And this is me doing the thing I love most

but I'm not necessarily the best at.

[Gleb] The cha-cha is all about rotations.

that perfect rotation.
