[ Whistling ]
Being a new coach on "The Voice,"
I really need to put myself out there.
Here.
It takes a lot to get an artist on your team.
Drive, determination,
relentlessness.
Okay.
Perfect.
I believe in manifestation,
and I'm putting out in the universe right now
that the perfect artist is gonna come along.
But you really need to put in the work.
I'm willing, so pick me.
Choose me.
Pick Kelsea.
[ Exhales ]
[ Sighs ]
Hmm. Rookie move.
Yeah. [ Chuckles ] Silly.
I'm coming to see that Kelsea has some tricks up her sleeve
to give her a little extra edge, and I'm excited to duke it out.
Actually, I-I should do this, too.
It's a pretty good idea.
Mm.
Tatum: Ever since I moved to Nashville,
I've met a lot of cool songwriters.
I've played so many iconic stages.
But it's so wild that I'm stepping in front of
these four huge names.
Like, I love John. He's incredible.
I would be honored to work with him.
I love Kelsea Ballerini. We have a lot in common.
She is amazing.
My name's Tatum Scott. I'm 22 years old.
I'm from High Point, North Carolina,
but currently living in Nashville, Tennessee.
I got into music at a very early age.
She would get up on the fireplace mantel,
and she would do dances
and pretend like she was on stage for "The Voice."
* His fountain *
In high school, I actually started my own business.
I dressed up for little girls' birthday parties.
Can I have a hug?
Tatum: I would sing to them,
and I got to partner with a nonprofit organization
that grants wishes.
It just made my heart so happy to just see the joy.
There's just so much power to music.
I grew up doing musical theater.
I started when I was 11 or 12.
You know, we have special connections to
the teachers that we love the most.
And for me, it was Mrs. Sarah Haynes,
my chorus teacher,
who I just lost a couple months ago.
She was battling breast cancer.
* I'll save you a seat next to me *
* You're always at the table *
She was always an open door for me
and someone I looked up to
and someone who just made me love music even more.
[ Crying ] She would always just make me more confident in myself
and just made me feel...
...my best, every day.
I can't believe that she's gone.
* Wherever you are wherever I'll be *
* I'll save you a seat *
That's just the main reason I'm here,
is for her and her family and her kids,
[crying] because they lost their mom.
And I lost a friend.
For me to be here right now, it just means everything.
* You're always at the table *
* Hope you're proud of what you see *
You got it, baby.
* Watching with the angels *
**
Ah, I love this.
* I hate to give the satisfaction *
* Asking how you're doing now *
* How's the castle built off people *
* You pretend to care about? *
* Just what you wanted *
* Look at you, cool guy, you got it *
* I see the parties and the diamonds *
* Sometimes when I close my eyes *
* Six months of torture, you sold *
* As some forbidden paradise *
* I loved you truly *
* You gotta laugh at the stupidity *
* 'Cause I've made some real big mistakes *
* But you make the worst one look fine *
* I should've known it was strange *
* You only come out at night *
* I used to think I was smart *
* But you made me look so naive * Yeah!
* The way you sold me for parts * Great song.
* You sunk your teeth into me, oh *
* Bloodsucker *
* Dream crusher *
* Bleedin' me dry, like a *
* Damn vampire *
Let's go! * Oh, bloodsucker *
* Dream crusher *
* Bleedin' me dry, like a *
* Damn vampire *
* Ohhhhhh *
[ Cheers and applause ]
Yeah!
Oh, my gosh.
Hi! Hi! Hi.
Ha!
Is this real life? [ Laughs ]
Hi, Kelsea, girl. I love you.
Hey, girlie. Oh, my goodness. I see where this is going.
[ Laughter ]
What's your name?
My name is Tatum Scott. I just turned 22,
and I am living in Nashville, Tennessee.
[ Cheers and applause ]
Oh, my God.
Kelsea, I believe this probably will go to you.
I'm not gonna take any chances here.
Oh, my goodness.
Do your thing. Shoot your shot. I live in Nashville.
Yes, you do live in Nashville. I have those pants.
I know you have these pants! I saw!
I saw. I saw you in concert.
Honestly, like, when you first started... Oh, my God!
...your lower register is so beautiful.
Thank you. Ugh!
But then you -- you picked such a great song.
I mean, Olivia is amazing.
Yes. This is amazing.
There's no one that knows what it is like
to be a woman in Nashville...
Yeah. ...except for a woman in Nashville.
We should just do a separate show.
We can do it together. We can match!
Yes! We'll match with our pants!
That is all. Carry on. Carry on.
Okay! So, Tatum, I'm gonna say welcome to Team Kelsea.
[ Laughter ]
And, uh, John... Excuse me!
I'm not out of this yet.
...godspeed and good luck.
It's really nice to meet you, Tatum.
I love your Christmas album.
Thank you so much.
I was gonna wear those today.
This is your dream.
This woman -- she got to live out her dream,
and now she gets to help you live out yours.
It's like John doesn't exist right now.
Kelsea: He's not even here. John.
Let the man speak.
Hello, Tatum. Hi, John.
I turned for you first, of course.
Kelsea was a little late.
The level of confidence and calm
that it takes to sing those low parts is, like, super hard.
So I pushed the button.
I felt like I had a decent shot,
and then you guys started talking.
I felt this bond that we may have had dissolving,
and Kelsea has never done this show before.
Ooh. Ooh.
This is just a fact. This is not criticism.
This is just a factual statement I made.
Kelsea Ballerini is a saint.
I have so much experience helping young artists
navigate their way through this show.
And with Kelsea, she may. We don't know.
I have so much fire under my butt
to kill it for you, and I will.
Y'all hear this? I have a lot to prove.
I listen to Olivia Rodrigo in the car with my daughters.
I'm very young and hip.
I know what's happening.
You are, John. You are young and hip.
I have nothing else to say.
You know what's gonna happen here.
All right, Tatum,
who do you pick as your coach?
Guys, this is so hard.
[ Laughter ]
[ Audience shouting ]
I'm gonna go with Kelsea.
Yes! Thank God!
Ah! Out of here!
* It's just the kind of... * The shock.
Hi, girl! I'm so excited!
I love you! I love you!
Kelsea: I came in pretty hot today.
I turned it up a level, and I feel very proud about that.
Give me a hug, Tatum. I love you, too!
Kelsea: Tatum's amazing.
Her lower register immediately got me.
That's a rangy song, and I was very interested to see
how she chose to -- to navigate that.
It was meant to be. It was so -- It had to happen.
It was so kismet.
Kelsea: There is definitely a camaraderie in Nashville
that you're not gonna break through, my guy.
And that was proof. The proof's in the puddin'.
I tried my best.
And you would have been amazing.
But that's not what she wanted.
That's not what she wanted.
Kelsea is the only female coach this season,
and I think she's smart to use that to her advantage,
because we have amazing female singers come through this show.
And she's got a little bit of a leg up
on the fellas, us old guys.
Use it, Kelsea. [ Chuckles ]
We're gonna twin. I turned around, and I was like,
"Oh, my God. It's happening."
It's happening. Adam: It's happening.
John: I only have one artist on my team.
I'm on a slump, and I don't like that.
But I'm gonna keep turning for great voices.
Even if they won't pick me, I'm gonna keep trying.
Daly: Coming up...
* I've acted out my life in stages *
* With 10,000 people watching *
* Look how they shine for you *
Oh, wow! Daly: The blind auditions continue
to blow our coaches away,
giving one artist a second chance.
[ Cheers and applause ]
Coach Replay!
That's what America wanted.
Daly: And later...
...a four-chair turn you won't want to miss.
You might have the greatest voice I've ever heard.
* This is "The Voice" *
Daly: Welcome back to the blind auditions
at Universal Studios Hollywood.
We're doing it, folks. Making television.
You guys are fun. I'm having fun.
Adam: Yeah, it is fun. It's good.
Okay. It's good vibes.
I feel like there is a camaraderie happening.
Hey, are we on a group chat?
We are now, buddy. Yes!
Yeah, we're on a group chat. Group chat!
We're all new friends, and I'm really excited
to do the rest of the season with these guys, I am.
Adam: Do we ever go on, like, coach dates?
We can do, like, a coach spa day.
[ Laughter ]
I think that we're starting to open up and form our bond.
There are like five records that I talk about all the time
that are records that made me want to be an artist.
And the "Songs About Jane" -- top-to-bottom stacked.
That, like, means a lot to me.
And we're having a really good time,
which is the most important thing.
You're doing so good.
No, you're amazing, girlfriend.
John: You know, Kelsea's like our little sister now.
Kelsea, you're awesome. You're awesome.
Thanks for saying that.
She's fitting right in with our family.
There's something really cool when you start to
get to know people and you start to laugh.
Man: Okay, stand by, please.
You start to feel you have each other's backs,
and it's been absolutely marvelous.
Are you ready? I'm ready.
Man: Our next artist is entering now.
**
**
* Mm-mm-mm-mm-mm *
[ Laughs ] Oh, my God.
* I've been so many places *
* In my life and time *
Okay. I'm awake.
* I've sung a lot of songs *
There it is!
* I've made some bad rhymes * There it is.
* I've acted out my life in stages *
* With 10,000 people watching *
Go, go.
* But we're alone now *
* And I'm singing this song to you *
* I-I-I love you *
* In a place where there's no space or time *
* I love you for my life *
Adam, be for real.
* You're a friend of mine * Be for real.
* And when my life is over *
* Remember when we were together *
There it is!
* We were alone *
* And I was singing this song to you *
All four.
* We were alone * Oh!
* And I was singing this song *
Whoo! * Mm, singing this song *
* To you *
[ Laughs ] Oh, God.
* You *
Oh, wow!
[ Cheers and applause ]
Four chairs!
Four chairs!
And we bow. John: Yes!
[ Cheers and applause ]
Yeah! Wow.
Beautiful!
Christine: Yeah, baby.
Oooh, Lord!
What is your name?
My name is Bryson Battle.
I'm 21, and I'm from Harrisburg, North Carolina.
You're 21?
There are certain times when the chairs around
where my ear will just go,
okay, like, I'm listening to pitch
or I'm listening to technicalities.
I didn't think about that.
I literally just thought about how moved I was
because you were just singing from your soul.
And I want to ask, how did you fall in love with music?
What is your road here?
There has not been a time in my life where I wasn't singing.
Singing has just always been my first love.
I always knew that I wanted to be on stage and be on camera.
But it's been a very long journey
to just feel comfortable in my own body.
When I was 16, I got diagnosed with vitiligo.
And that's where your skin cells don't produce pigment.
My first instinct was to cover it up,
but it's not hideable.
When I was 18, 17ish, my grandmother passed away.
When I came to see her,
she would give me a kiss on the forehead,
and when we would leave,
she would give me a kiss on the forehead.
The little spot that was on his temple
[crying] is in the shape of a heart.
I told him, "That's a kiss from your grandmother,
giving you the stamp of approval
that she's proud of you, Bryson."
Bryson: It was from that moment that I, like,
began to really embrace having vitiligo.
For me to be here proudly wearing my vitiligo spots,
I hope to make little Bryson proud.
Music just was the way
that I felt I could express myself the most.
Yeah. Kelsea: Yeah.
Listen, I understand
that I am probably the least obvious choice,
but what I will say is that I started
writing songs when I was 12.
It became my saving grace, my safety net,
my therapist, my safest place.
And I feel that with you.
You're going to have an amazing journey no matter what you do.
But I'm around.
Thank you, Kelsea. Thank you, thank you.
You might have the greatest voice I've ever heard.
Like, I mean...
Oh, my God! Bryson: Thank you.
I sang that song almost every night to end my shows,
and I never sung it that good.
I would love if I could just lip sync to you
at the end of my shows.
I would love to ride with you, man.
Thank you.
Only an idiot would not be able to see
and listen to what you do and not be blown away by it.
I mean, it is incredible what you do.
Thank you.
It is a bit of a harder path
when you are as extraordinary as you are.
I think it is unbelievably important to find ways
to surprise people with the songs that you choose.
I want to be the one that can help you become
the most successful on this show,
which I do have a lot of experience in.
But you're amazing, man. Unbelievable.
Thank you. Thank you, thank you, thank you.
Bryson. Here we go.
Everybody's -- they're trying to get between us.
Everything felt like it was just breathing for you,
and I turned around pretty early, so I got to watch you.
I was the first one to turn around, in fact,
not -- not to rub it in.
Ay-yi-yi.
I've coached people that have sung that song before,
and I truly have never heard anybody sing it
like you sang it today.
You made it feel fresh and new and exciting,
and you found new musical places to go in it.
And we're truly blessed to have you on the show.
This is why "The Voice" exists. Michael: Amen.
Thank you. Thank you so much.
That means so much.
Bryson, who are you gonna choose as your coach?
Ah...
Come on. Come on.
[ Audience shouting ]
Ah. Come on.
I'm gonna have to go with John.
Yes! Oh!
Yes!
Wow.
Bryson!
I was wondering with your name
if your parents, like, were into Peabo.
Just a little bit. Just a little bit. Thank you.
I feel like I'm back, baby.
Bryson sang so beautifully.
The runs he did were exquisite
and just flowed out of him so effortlessly.
You all right? I will be.
Are you enjoying your time? I am.
When you saw four chairs turn, how did you feel?
Oh, my gosh! I lost it.
He, like, aced it, left it in the dust.
It was so good.
Four-chair turn, baby!
Good job, buddy.
This is my first four-chair of the season.
And let me tell you, I needed to beat Adam this time.
He's won more four-chair turns than me,
not that I'm counting, but I needed to get him back.
I was worried, honestly. I was worried. I'm a fan, man.
I just want to watch him.
You guys were -- you guys were giving good pitch.
I try. Yeah.
Adam: Going up against John is like
having a pillow fight with a friend.
It's a kinder, gentler, kind of civilized version
of what I used to do with Blake.
And it was never classy.
It was so graceful.
He wasn't like, "Mm!" He was like...
He was like, "Thank you so much. John Legend."
That was some singing! What a voice, huh?
Daly: Each week we will call out the "Voice" fan
who jumped the most spots on our national leaderboard.
Play along and try to take the top spot.
* This is "The Voice" *
Daly: Welcome back to "The Voice."
Timing is everything I'm reading you guys...
I'm quick on that buzzer... ...like a book.
...to avoid getting blocked,
but when I push it, it's early.
It's with authority. Yes, that's my trend.
Waiting is always a risk when you wait, though.
That's my strategy. Bottom line is,
you better decide within the performance early enough...
I know. Well, now I know your style, too. ...to preempt. us.
I know what you're gonna go after. Yes.
So now I've learned. But do you?
I think so. There's still room to grow here.
Can you be ruthless, Kelsea?
If I need to be. Okay.
If I really want somebody, can I tell them
that I'll give them your phone numbers?
No, no.
Where's Reba? Adam: Let's go do some blinds.
Can I get a girl?
Come on, now.
Jordan: My family love to grow, like, tomatoes, peppers,
onions, cilantro, mint, those kinds of things.
And my wife will bake us homemade sourdough.
It's just awesome.
That's so good.
My name is Jordan Allen. I am 30 years old,
and I'm from London, Kentucky.
We're bigger than a one-stoplight town.
We're, I don't know, 12 [chuckles]
and, uh, lovely people.
And it's a good place to raise kids.
My wife's name's Courtney.
She's from the same hometown as me.
My daughter Audie, she's 5.
And my son, Avett, he's 3.
[ Singing gibberish ]
Being from the Appalachian Mountains,
we have this way of life.
My grandfather was a coal miner.
My dad was a coal mine equipment salesman.
And I'm very proud to say that's where I'm from.
My dad showed me my first chords on the guitar.
He influenced me to play music and to sing.
And so I graduated high school, went to college,
started a band, and I've been doing that ever since.
I got some side hustles.
I am a real-estate agent in the state of Kentucky.
And then I also mow lawns. I mow a lot of grass.
But music is my primary source of income.
And what that means is being on the road
every chance that you can.
It's a lot of Thursday, Friday, Saturdays.
If it's reasonable to make it home before like 3:30 a.m.,
we're doing it, and I'm gonna go to bed
and I'm gonna wake up and I'm gonna still be Dad,
because you only get so much time.
He is so loving. He's the best father.
He's very present with us and with our kids when he's there.
My family has had to sacrifice so much
for me to do this.
Getting this opportunity to get a chair turn,
it's like a repayment.
We have a surprise for you.
Yeah. Oh!
We love you, Daddy.
We love you. Good luck.
Good luck.
That's awesome.
For my blind audition, I'll be singing
"Old Time Rock & Roll" by Bob Seger.
Most of my favorite music was made before 1980.
So when I'm singing that song,
I'm thinking about wanting to bring that spirit
of the music of that time back to today.
I want to show my kids that if you have a dream,
it's always worth pursuing until the road ends.
And thankfully, this road has brought me here.
This opportunity could change our lives,
so I'm gonna give it the best I got.
**
Oh, snap.
[ Audience cheers ]
* Just take those old records off the shelf *
* I'll sit and listen to 'em by myself *
* Today's music ain't got the same soul *
* I like that old time rock 'n' roll *
* Don't try to take me to a disco *
* You'll never even get me out on the floor *
* In 10 minutes I'll be late for the door *
Come on, folks. * I like that old time rock 'n' roll *
Wow! * Still like that old time rock 'n' roll *
There you go! Whoo-hoo!
Love it.
* That kind of music just soothes the soul *
* I reminisce about the days of old *
* With that old time rock 'n' roll *
* Won't go to hear 'em play a tango *
Yeah!
* I'd rather hear some blues or funky old soul *
* There's only one sure way to get me to go *
There's John! * Start playing old time rock 'n' roll *
* Still like that old time rock 'n' roll *
* That kind of music just soothes the soul *
* Reminisce about the days of old *
Oh, he's killing it right now.
* With that old time, with that old time *
* I reminisce about the days of old *
* Still like that old time rock 'n' roll *
[ Cheers and applause ]
Congratulations. Thank you.
That's how you do it.
Hey!
Hey. What is your name?
My name is Jordan Allen.
I'm 30 years old. I'm from London, Kentucky.
Jordan!
Man, you got a great voice. I love that song.
I was just wondering if, when I turned around,
you were gonna be in your underwear
like Tom Cruise in "Risky Business."
The tall socks.
But you're great, man. Welcome to the show.
It's good to have you. Yeah, yeah.
Thank you.
Hi, Jordan. My name is Michael Bublé.
Hey, hey.
I like music and long walks on the beach...
and bearded men.
You got some good beard game going on, dude.
Thank you. Yeah, respect.
I love that song. That song is pure joy.
I want to go to, like, a wedding with you.
I want to go.
Michael: I don't know. it seems like a wedding song.
You know what I mean? You just show up and...
It's a celebratory song. [ Vocalizing ]
It's a celebratory song.
I turned because I just heard versatility,
and I was like, "Oh, this sounds like a human being
that can do a little bit of R&B, a little bit of country,
a little cool pop."
You seem to have great control of your vibrato.
I was fantasizing about doing The Chicken Dance.
[ Hums "The Chicken Dance" ]
He was ready to go a the wedding with you already.
I think he just wants to party with you.
Sounds like it.
I'll coach you. You party with Michael.
And that's exactly the relationship we all can have.
Oh, man.
You can really sing.
Like, there was no note that I felt was left lacking
and was performed in any way that didn't work.
The only thing I didn't like about the performance
was the choice to hit the major note
instead of the minor note on a lot of the melody.
* Old time rock 'n' roll *
instead of * That old time rock 'n' roll *
And it just made it feel a little safe.
Your voice sounds amazing. I love your range.
I love the tone. I love the clarity.
You have so many amazing tools in your voice,
and it's all about having coaching
to help you plan the performance in the right way.
And I know I can do that for you.
Damn, that's -- yeah, man.
I felt like I needed to let them duke it out for you.
But you're amazing,
and I'm excited to watch you on the show.
Thank you.
Jordan, who do you pick as your coach?
[ Audience shouting ]
This is hard. I have no idea.
Come home to Papa.
It's a really tough decision,
but I'm gonna have to go on my gut
and go with John Legend.
All right! Wow!
John: Yes, sir, Jordan! My man!
I'm on fire right now. I've got two incredible artists
on Team Legend today.
You got a Team Legend jacket here.
I loved Jordan's voice. It was so clear and powerful.
I did give him some notes on musical choices that he made.
But that's what coaching is for.
And I'm excited to coach Jordan.
Fun, fun, fun, fun.
John is absolutely rocking it right now.
But, oof, rough start for Team Bublé.
Okay. Good stuff, good stuff.
Turning.
Kelsea: Whoo!
**
* This is "The Voice" *
Daly: We interrupt your scheduled programming
to bring you this special "Voice" news report.
We're here at the blind auditions,
and people are nervous getting ready for their blind audition.
We're gonna go talk to some of them right now.
Let's see who we can find.
What coach do you hope she picks?
I hope she picks Michael Bublé...
Oh! ...because he's my favorite.
I'm auditioning today. What coach do you think I should pick?
Mm. Adam.
Team Adam? Okay. Yes.
I'm Hayden Grove here on the set of "The Voice."
I'm 31, from Cleveland, Ohio.
Let's take a look.
For my day job, I'm a sports reporter.
I started writing reports and doing articles when I was 17.
Since then, I've been doing
any sort of journalism in that regard.
Good morning, everybody. Hayden here back in Columbus.
Football is back.
Fans are back here at Ohio Stadium.
I mostly do live broadcasts on the internet.
That is my bread and butter right now.
I love sports, yes, but music was first for me.
We all liked, uh, standards a lot,
and so I'm sure that's where Hayden sort of
picked up on -- on those songs.
I was in a jazz band in high school.
It was my first introduction to really being on the stage.
Now I perform at weddings.
I perform at restaurants, clubs, bars.
My style when I sing -- I always wear a jacket.
It's like a Superman cape. It gives me power.
It gives me that confidence, that swagger, that bravado,
and that ability to do what I love.
Team Bublé -- that would be the dream come true. Yeah.
Hayden: I started posting TikToks in 2020.
Michael Bublé started posting some duets
where he would allow another singer to sing with him,
and I did a couple of those. All of a sudden I saw,
"Michael Bublé is following you," and I lost my mind.
And then the moment in Pittsburgh...
So Hayden Grove is a guy that I started following on TikTok.
...my heart went into my stomach.
It's @H underscore Grove.
Hayden, let's blow up your TikTok, dude.
Hayden: He told his crowd to follow me on TikTok
and 1.2 million views and 40,000 followers later,
history was made.
I will forever be grateful for that moment.
I have never worked with Michael one-on-one,
but I do think Michael will recognize me.
If not my voice, he will definitely recognize my face.
Man: Our next artist is entering now.
Hayden: You know, to put myself out there on a national stage
is a huge, huge deal, so I'm nervous.
I'm so nervous, I can't lie.
But I just need one chair. That's it.
Doesn't have to be Michael. Just one chair.
**
Ah, it's "Mack the Knife," ladies and gentlemen.
All right, here you go, Michael.
* Oh, that shark, babe *
Oh, my gosh. * Has such teeth, dear *
* And he shows them pearly whites *
* Just a jack-knife *
* Has old Macheath, dear *
* And he keeps it * Great voice, man.
* Way out of sight * Kelsea. Kelsea. Kelsea.
Block him. I can't.
Why? He's not gonna turn.
* One Sunday morning, uh-huh *
* Lies a body *
Ooh! * Just oozin' losing boozin' life *
* Someone's sneakin' * Come on, Adam!
* 'Round the corner *
He's so good.
* Tell me, could that someone *
* Be ol' Mack the Knife? *
* Bum bum *
Do it right now. Block him. Do it. * I said Jenny Diver *
Do it, do it, do it! * Whoa, Suky Tawdry *
Do it! Block him! * Say Miss Lotte Lenya *
He's not gonna do it. * And old Lucy Brown *
* Yes, that line forms away on the right, babe *
Come on!
* Now that Macky's *
What the?! There we go!
He got Adam.
* Back in town *
Push it. I'm not.
* I said look out, old Macky is back *
[ Cheers and applause ]
Adam: Yeah! Congratulations.
Oh, my goodness!
He's awesome.
That was a journey.
Wow!
No! Hey! I know you. Your name is Hayden.
Yes. How do you know each other?
He came to a show a couple times.
Michael Bublé, you did not turn for this guy?
Thank God.
I did not. This dude knows that I love him.
He knows that I follow him on, like, TikTok.
Do you comment on his videos?
He does. All right.
Michael: Yes, I do. Oh, my God.
Wow. Here's the reason that I didn't turn my chair.
What is your excuse?
I'm gonna -- There's no excuse.
I live and I breathe this music,
and I have since I was a little boy.
If I look back at the authenticity of this music,
we didn't use vibrato, so when Hayden sang...
* Oh, the shark, babe, has such teeth, de-e-ear *
like a pop singer. Yeah.
But if you hear the way that those men and women sang,
they didn't use vibrato.
They sang always on open vowels.
Everything was smooth until the end of the phrase.
Now, when you hear Hayden sing a ballad,
he's gonna sing it that way.
Well, it worked to my favor, so I'm happy you sang that way.
But let me just show you something.
I'm gonna show you the difference.
This is good.
Give me a hug, firstly. How are you, buddy?
Good. Thank you for that.
Don't you hug him!
Sorry, Adam. [ "Mack the Knife" plays ]
Now watch this.
I'm gonna go rate straight right through.
* Oh, the shark, babe *
* Has such teeth, dear *
* And it shows them pearly whites *
We stop.
Give me no vibrato.
I want you to sing straight through.
* Just a jack-knife * Keep going.
* Has old * * Has old Macheath, babe *
No vibrato. * And he keeps it *
* And he keeps it *
* Way out of sight * That's it.
Anyway, listen, I'm gonna step back.
But my point is this -- you're gonna help him.
I know he's on your team, and he's gonna dominate,
but I'm gonna help you to help him...
I love that. ...because he has everything it takes.
I appreciate it. Thank you. Yeah, buddy.
This was very cool. We got a Michael Bublé
traditional pop vocal singing lesson.
All of us got to benefit from that.
So thank you, Michael. Thank you, man.
Yes. Oh, I'm just -- I'm having massive second thoughts.
I can't believe that happened.
But it seems like somehow you have the best of both worlds.
Only if -- Only if Adam's willing to share.
Adam: I mean, look, dude, I don't have the knowledge
about the song that you sang that he has,
but a great voice is a great voice is a great voice.
It doesn't matter. Damn straight.
We're gonna have a blast because you have a tremendously
great voice with so much range.
It's super diverse.
We're gonna be able to do anything, and I love you.
That means the world, man. Thank you.
Welcome to Team Adam.
Wow, that was so fun.
Team Adam is feeling great.
Feel like I'm in my own zone. You know what I mean?
Thank you, man. For you.
With "Team Adam" on it. I love it, I love it.
Adam: Hayden's got a great voice.
I mean, I don't come from crooner school.
He's gonna be a different flavor for me, which is nice.
I think it's a good thing to mix it up a little bit.
Congrats, man.
It's just, like, such a unique experience being in this chair.
Uh, and I've missed it.
Dude! You got the turn, man. Thank you.
I know Hayden, and I'm really protective and supportive
when I meet people that love that style and that genre.
I was thrilled Adam chose him.
People are gonna like him, you know.
He's a sweetheart. Yeah.
Good, dude.
Man, it's a slow day for me.
I am still waiting for my first artist,
but I feel like it's gonna happen.
I just texted Blake and said, "I'm in your stupid chair...
stupid."
[ Chuckles ] Stupid.

I'm Susan Hickman.
I'm 39 years old, from Dickinson, Texas,
and I'm a professional skydiver.
Skydiving started off as, like, a bucket-list-type of thing.
I went and I was terrified.
I'm not a heights person, but I got down to the ground
and before I could even get my knees
to carry my body weight again, I was like,
"How do I do this more?"
I have been skydiving over 700 times.
I lived in a camper,
so I traveled around to different drop zones.
I'd jump during the day and then I would play my shows at night.
That's the other thing in my life
that I've been super passionate about.
When I was 12, I saw LeAnn Rimes.
She was only a couple years older than I was,
and I remember going, "If she can do that, I could do that."
So my mom said, "If we're gonna do this,
we're gonna do it right."
We got in the studio,
recorded my very first record at 15 years old.
We traveled around doing live shows,
and now I play over 200 shows a year on a regular basis.
[ Laughs ]
I play a lot of shows all over the world,
but this stage --
this is the one that gives me the butterflies.
Man: Our next artist Is entering now.
Susan: Skydiving has prepared me to go out there
and be completely fearless,
so I'm ready to just get out there and do it.
Let's go.

* Lay a whisper *
* On my pillow *
* Leave the winter *

* Touch me now *
* I close my eyes *
* And dream away *
* It must have been love *
* But it's over now *
* It's where the water flows *
* It's where the wind blows *
Come on. * It must have been love *
* But it's over now *
* It must have been good *
* But I lost it somehow *
* It must have been love *

Hello. What is your name and where are you from?
My name is Susan Hickman.
I am 39 years old, from Dickinson, Texas.
All right.
I'm so sorry we don't have better news for you.
I felt like at the beginning, it was a little bit unsteady
in the lower part of the song.
And then as you got to rev up a bit,
it really felt like you came into your own.
And it was almost there, but not quite.
Thank you, John.
Susan, your upper register kicks ass.
It's, like -- it's really great.
And I kind of wanted you to live there for a lot of it.
I wish that you had just kind of come in hot, you know, like,
almost started higher, if that makes sense.
Totally. It's a tough song,
but there's always a place you can come back and do this again,
so please do that.
Thank you, Adam.
I love your shoes so much.
Thank you.
Oh, yeah, those are dope. Yeah, so sick.
I didn't turn, and I'm sorry,
but also, like, this is just a moment.
I still get told, "Not right now" all the time, still.
And so let it kind of light this fire under your rear
to keep going forward to whatever is next for you
is, like, the most beautiful thing you can do for yourself.
Michael: Susan, you're a great singer.
I hope that you understand that this is no failure.
Today may not be your day, but don't stop.
Well said, Michael. Thank you, Susan.
Thank you, Michael. I appreciate it.
Thank you, Susan.
Aw, she's sweet. Cool vibe, too.
Yeah. Her style.
Michael: Susan was incredibly valiant and brave.
But I'm holding off on the Replay button.
There's always the option to use it in case we make a mistake.
That part is never fun. Yeah.
* It must have been love *
* Must have been love *
Kelsea: We are hearing so many amazing voices,
and we want to fill our teams up with the best matches.
Right now, I'm really looking for that traditional
classic male country voice.
It's been a bit of a dip right now for me.
And you know what? That-- That's okay.
The perfect artist for Team Kelsea is coming up.
I know it.
Jaelen: On the way to the airport.
We're going to "The Voice," baby, let's go.
My name's Jaelen Johnston.
I'm 21 years old, and I'm from Derby, Kansas.
My background's coming from construction and concrete.
We'd mow in the summer, maintain trees, all that kind of stuff.
Then in the winter, you know, we'll do a little bit
of Sheetrock and painting, stuff like that.
And so I was raised by my mom, aunt, grandma, and grandpa.
My dad was never really in the picture.
You know, he decided he didn't want a baby.
I know that bothers some people.
It really doesn't bother me much.
I've had the most supportive household I could ask for.
The values they instilled in me,
it's definitely hard work, dedication, and manners.
I remember having little manner flash cards when I was young.
They'd give scenarios like if you're on a date
or if you're gonna walk into a restaurant or anywhere else,
it's always remove the hat, uh,
"please," "thank you,"
"yes, sir," "no, sir," "yes, ma'am," "no, ma'am."
Tonya: Manners are very important.
His first phrase was, um, "More food, please."
That was the first sentence he ever said.
[ Laughter ]
Jaelen: I got my first guitar at 16.
Nowadays, I'm playing every other, if not every weekend.
Mm mom and aunt are at every show.
We are his biggest fans. Yeah.
It's a blessing to be able to have as many shows as I do.
Grandma and Grandpa come when they can.
But about four years ago, my grandpa --
he suffered an aneurysm, and the next day,
he ended up suffering an ischemic stroke on the table.
He is still with us,
but he's not quite right anymore.
It was a shock because he's definitely
the only father figure I've had.
Definitely a hard experience.
The one thing he does remember is music.
So to be here in this moment, after everything,
to me is a success.
Opportunities like this, they come once in a lifetime.
I'd love to work with Kelsea Ballerini.
She knows the country industry in and out.
And then you have Michael Bublé. His voice is smooth.
He can hit runs, which is the same kind of stuff
I try to try to incorporate in country.
Between both of them, it'd be a crazy-hard decision.
All right.
In the end, all I need is one chair.
I'm excited and nervous.
I'm just ready to go out and get 'er done. [ Chuckles ]

It's mean andrude.

[ Cheers and applause ]
Yeah!
Yeah.
What's your name, cowboy?
My name is Jaelen Johnson.
I'm 21 years old, and I'm from Derby, Kansas.
Wow, dude. Jaelen!
How long have you been singing?
Probably about six years now. Do you write?
Yes, ma'am. Okay.
How's it feel being called ma'am at your age, Kelsea?
Yeah.
Not feeling so young anymore, huh?
Yeah. Actually, you're so right.
I'm gonna turn my chair back around.
No, I'm kidding. [ Laughs ]
What's your end goal?
Up until today, it was a chair turn.
[ Laughter ]
You did it! That's a good answer.
In all seriousness, I love all kinds of music,
but I am die-hard country music.
I've had 10 years of putting out music in that genre.
And your voice is unreal.
And in range?
You're not just a singer, you're an artist.
I really think that leaning into the songwriter of you
is gonna be fun,
and I want to see where that takes us.
Like, your full discography of what you listen to
and, like, figuring out what the full realm
of who you are as an artist is.
Like, that's my bread and butter.
I love it. I want to do it.
I like it. I like that you want it.
And it's good to see. I do want it.
I get it. But I want it, too.
[ Laughter ]
Jaelen. Yes, sir.
Wow, "sir." Damn.
How old are you feeling now?
I feel, like, a little bit old,
but I still feel good.
Look, my batting average
when it comes to convincing country artists
to come on my team is extremely poor
because of that big, smelly guy,
Blake Shelton, who is --
Don't talk about my dad like that.
[ Laughter ]
Could be.
I've heard so much greatness in the genre,
but almost never had the privilege
to work with country artists.
But you're too good
for me to have not turned my chair around. True.
The tone of your voice is so unmistakably bold and strong.
Although I might not be an expert
in the genre like some others,
you know, I know a guy, and I'm sitting in his chair.
So, come to Team Adam,
and let's break the mold together.
Alright?
How old are you now? 21.
Oh, my goodness. I can't believe you're so young.
You sound like you've lived a lot of stories,
but that's such a powerful quality in country music,
especially because it's such a storytelling genre.
You can't fake it.
You've got to sound and feel authentic.
And I really felt the authenticity
coming from your voice.
So, congratulations
and welcome to "The Voice," sir.
Thank you very much.
Michael: I love your voice, man.
I got to tell you,
Kelsea obviously has a great depth
of knowledge about this, and she lives it.
But just because I don't know it as well
doesn't mean that I don't love it.
In the last couple of years, I've had the most fun of my life
doing duets with Willie Nelson and Dolly Parton.
I've sang with Dolly.
Yes.
And Reba. Mm.
And Trisha and Garth. Mm.
And Taylor. Wow.
Michael: My first song that became a big hit
was one I wrote
and Blake Shelton had it with "Home."
Whatever happens, I'm gonna be a fan.
I love that voice, man.
I love that deep, rich baritone.
Thank you. [ Cheers and applause ]
Anybody else want to say anything?
Kelsea? I know Adam's a last word type of guy.
Kelsea: He really is. I just -- like, this sucks, man.
I'm like, I always lose the country singers, man.
I'm adjourning this session.
Jaelen, who do you pick as your coach?
I can't even watch.
Oh, Jaelen, don't break my heart.
Do the unexpected.
Don't break my heart.
That's hard, man.
**
I got to go with Kelsea.
[ Cheers and applause ]
Kelsea: That was tough.
I broke a sweat, but I came out victorious.
Sweaty but victorious.
Jaelen is a cutie-patootie cowboy.
Thank you so much. Your voice is amazing.
When he first started singing, it made me think of Josh Turner.
* Would you go with me? *
Like, that little yummy country voice.
I really see people falling in love with him quickly.
I love that voice, though, man.
Great voice.
I really want to get
a fantastic country singer.
I think the best way to do that is to block Miss Ballerini,
which hurts because she's such a sweet lady.
But you know what?
If that's what it takes, it may come down to me
having to be a little sneaky and block her.
Are you boys just licking your wounds?
Hey, that was -- He was really great.
What'd I tell you? He was really, really great.
You know why I'm not devastated?
Because that has happened to me
more times than I could count.
This is my first rodeo,
but at the end of the day,
I know the ropes.
Was that me?
Oh, it was just someone saying I'm gonna win.
John, the whole time that you were talking about
how country artists are so real,
literally my extension became unclipped.
[ Laughter ]
I didn't say that about their hair.
Thank God.
* This is "The Voice" *
Daly: Welcome back.
* Quiero saber *
On social media, I regularly sing mariachi.
That's, like, my number one.
I believe I have like 100 and something thousand followers.
[ Speaking Spanish ]
I'm sure your picture is gonna be here. Yeah.
Ricardo: My parents are both from Mexico.
My dad, he was 15 years old when he came down here.
He wanted a better life.
My dad's also a singer.
He always said he wanted a singer in the family.
So, this is all I dreamed about.
Ever since I was a little kid, I was singing in talent shows.
I definitely got all the taste of music from my dad.
Mijo, you know that your dad couldn't make it.
He just told me to be here to support you,
that you can do this.
You got this.
* Take me to a better place *
My parents moved out here to the US.
It wasn't necessarily easy.
My dad worked as a landscaper, and I would go help him.
And I seen to this day how he struggles, you know?
* I go wherever you are *
* I follow you this far *
He has two jobs, and also my mom.
Both of my parents always try to give me everything.
I'm ready, I'm ready.
Good. Good luck. We love you so much.
The song that I'm singing is
"Put Your Head on My Shoulder" by Paul Anka.
It's an oldie.
I'm trying to get out of my comfort zone a little bit.
Michael Bublé also did a cover on it.
It does make me a little nervous.
He sang it amazingly.
But I will be doing a little Spanish,
try to add my little twist to it.
I'm first-generation American.
My parents want me to live the American dream,
so I am beyond excited to be here.
This is everything to me.
**
Oh.
Oh, it's "Put Your Head on My Shoulder."
* Put your head on my shoulder *
* Hold me in your arms, baby *
* Squeeze me oh so tight *
* Maybe you and I will fall in love *
Oh, pretty.
* People say that love is a game *
* A game you just can't win *
* If there's a way, I'll find it someday *
* And then this fool will rush in *
* Tu cabeza en mi hombro * Oh, my God.
* Me dirá ahora, baby *
Come on, Kelsea! Push your button!
* Lo que siempre, he dudado *
Damn.
* Put your head on my *
Come on.
* Shoulder *
Oh!
Bublé! I'm shocked!
Oh, no. John: Oh!
Wow.
What is your name, sir? Ricardo.
Dude, that was great.
Oh.
I love the switch when you switch the languages.
That was awesome, because it was a nice little, like, wow.
[ Cheers and applause ]
For me, I thought there was a potential
for Michael Bublé to turn around. Yeah.
I needed to see how he was operating in his moment. Blame Bublé.
That's my strategy in general.
* Blame Canada *
[ Laughs ] Blame Canada. Exactly.
For me, I'm still learning the ropes here.
This is my first rodeo,
and that's why I didn't push my button.
Also, because everyone -- everyone
thought Michael was going to.
Wow. So, I'm sorry.
And you're really talented.
And I wish you the best on everything.
I'm sorry, buddy. Hey, I'm sorry too.
I wonder, Ricardo, just can I ask you, man,
like, what kind of music moves you? I like to do it all.
Jazz, oldies, mariachi music.
Oh, man.
Man, it's hard, you know, for me,
because I'm so picky.
And, um, I heard so much that I liked.
* I've been wondering *
* Am I lost and just don't know it? *
The truth is, you know, I...
* Just keep going *
* One day, sun's going to shine *
* Down on me when I open my eyes, oh *
* One day... *
It's Coach Replay!
* And I'll be living one day at a time *
iMi hermano!
That's what America wanted.
Michael: You know, the Coach Replay button,
I love that thing.
It is pure redemption.
It isn't just a second chance for the contestants.
It's a second chance for us coaches,
in case maybe we missed out.
You know, we don't have to use it.
but I think Ricardo has a really
distinct and different voice.
I think it is powerful.
I think he has the ability to go
between genres.
I'm really glad that Coach Replay was there
so that I could still bring him home to the Team Bublé.
* Bublé, Bublé, Bublé, Bublé *
* Bublé *
Oh, my God.
This was the perfect moment for the Coach Replay.
It's a second chance for us. We messed up.
We want to rectify that.
Dude, I can't wait.
Dude, we're gonna have a lot of fun.
Oh, yeah, for sure, man.
Thank you so much. iVamo, vamo!
This Coach Replay, man. Kelsea: Yeah, that's a good one.
It warms the heart.
You never know what's going to move you,
what's gonna feel special to you.
But Team Legend has incredible artists already,
and I can't wait to see who else joins the team soon.
* Put your head on my shoulder *
[ Audience cheers ]
That Bublé is silky. Oh, boy.
Daly: Still to come...
* She's my pretty little poison *
Daly: ...our coaches pull out all the stops
to get the artists they want.
I have four children, and I have their names tattooed.
My wife would be so happy if your name was on my arm.
Would she? [ Laughter ]
* This is "The Voice" *
Daly: Welcome back to "The Voice."
My name is Ari Camille.
I'm 21 years old, and I'm from Chicago, Illinois,
but I currently live in Los Angeles.
I recently just graduated
from the University of Southern California for theater.
My mom and I both graduated college this year.
She graduated from nursing school,
and I'm just so proud of her.
That was good bonding for us, too.
I would call my mom and complain about classes.
And then she'd one up me and be like,
"Girl, I have a test on, like, cardiovascular, whatever."
And I'm like, "You got it."
I wanted to be a living example of the things that I tell her,
which is go after your dreams.
If you work hard, you'll achieve it.
We just want a chair to turn. Hey!
Turn, turn, guys, turn.
* Turn around * [ Laughs ]
Ari: Having my parents here is very special
because they have invested a lot in me.
We have been watching "The Voice" since season one.
You got it.
This is bigger than what I could have imagined,
but they've seen it all along.
Announcer: Our next artist is entering now.
Ari: Being here is kind of surreal.
I just love to sing. I love to perform.
And what better way to do it
than on one of the biggest platforms?
I'm ready to make my family proud.
I'm ready to make myself proud.
I just need one chair to turn.
That's all I need.

* I would like to get to know if I could be *

* The kind of girl that you could be down for *

Come on, John, push your button.
* You're the kind of guy that I should make a move on *
* And if I don't let you know *
* Then I won't be for real * She got it!
* I could be wrong *
* But I feel like something could be going on *
* The more I see you, the more that it becomes so true *
* There ain't no other for me, there's only you *
* I wanna be down with what you're going through *
* I wanna be down, I wanna be down with you *
* No matter the time of day or night, it's true *
* I wanna be down *
* Hey, yeah *
* I wanna be down * Whoo!
* I gotta be down *
* Yeah *
* No matter the time of day or night, it's true *
* I wanna be down, down, down *
God, I love it!
Hey! [ Cheers and applause ]

Hello. Hi.
What's your name, and where are you from?
My name is Ari Camille. I'm from Chicago.
Alright, Chi-town!
You are stunning.
Thank you.
And your voice is.
Obviously, that's what we're here for.
But my God. Thank you.
That was such a cool song to choose.
And I love Brandy.
I thought you had such a cool approach to it,
because you have some of that rasp
and breathiness that she has,
but then when you hit some of those big notes,
it got really open and big and beautiful.
I loved it. I love it. Thank you so much.
Thank you.
Hey, Ari. I really loved your voice.
I loved how soulful it was.
And I think also when I saw John turn,
I turned because I'm a glutton for punishment.
And like those Grammy nominees who sat and lost to John,
I wanted to join that group.
You know, because if you can't beat them, at least join them.
Oh. Michael: I thought to myself,
how could I convince Ari to join my team?
And then I just thought,
this is crazy, but I'm gonna do it.
I have four children,
and I have their names tattooed on my --
My kids are on my arm, too.
No, well, I bet you Legend ain't gonna put your name
on his arm after his kids.
John: Oh, my God.
And I was thinking my wife would be so happy
if your name was on my arm. Would she?
Ari. Can I write it on there?
This man is running game. He's running game.
You know what, Ari? You write it. You write it. That's right.
Oh! Let's just see how it looks.
She didn't ask for all that!
Oh, my God. I'll hold your mic.
You can hold me. He's ridiculous.
This is crazy.
Is this Canadian humor?
Like, what is happening?
I'm sorry, I look good.
Canadians are wild, man.
[ Laughter ]
Listen, at the very worst,
I got your autograph before you hit it big.
[ Laughter ]
Thank you.
You are in great hands
with either of these amazing coaches.
And I would really just like to be your biggest fan this season.
I would like to just let him just do all -- or him --
Sorry. Wow.
...do all of, like, the beautiful coaching
that they're gonna do.
And I just want to sit here and be your cheerleader.
That's beautiful.
Adam: Yeah. Hi, Ari. Hi, Adam.
I'm sad because I feel like I might have missed out on you,
but you're great.
I'm trying to think if I can give you any helpful words
as far as who to pick here, coach-wise.
There's only been one time
when Brandy came on this show to be a mentor.
And there's only one coach
that brought her on the show to do so.
I mean... I see.
Well, I'm rubbing the tattoo off already, guys.
[ Laughter ]
So, I think it's time, Ari.
Yeah. Who do you pick as your coach?
Um, okay.
Legend! Legend! Legend!
Legend! Legend! Legend!
Now...
Now, listen, Michael,
I appreciate my name being on your arm,
but I think I'm gonna have to go with John.
* It don't get better than me *
Let's go, let's go, let's go!
Ari!
Ari pulled it off.
She has a dope texture to her voice and a vibe.
Give me a hug. Congratulations.
How you doing? I'm so happy for you.
How you doing?
Michael Bublé, lying about a tattoo
he was gonna get.
Excuse me. Excuse me. Michael: Oh, God.
I didn't see you there. This guy...
Dude. What I'm learning is he's a lot like Blake Shelton.
He's friends with Blake. He lies like him.
He -- He, like...
Listen, I want your contestants.
Welcome to "The Voice." Thank you.
Go celebrate, guys. Thank you. Thank you.
Ari's voice was stunning. She was incredible.
And, well, now I got to get this tattoo off my arm, huh?
Legend! Legend! Legend! Legend! Legend! Legend!
Legend! Legend! Legend!
He's not even paying attention. I wanted to rub it in.
Announcer: Okay, stand by, folks.
25, 25 seconds.
Alright, Braxton, it's about to happen, man.
Yeah, it is. How you feeling?
Oh, crazy. I'm feeling energetic.
I'm excited. I'm nervous.
A little bit of everything.
You're gonna do great. Thank you, man.
You ready to go? Yes, sir.
Alright. Good luck to you. Yes, sir, man. Thank you.
Announcer: Our next artist is entering now.
Braxton: I'm hoping that this audition
is going to set a motivation in my children's life
to chase whatever it is they may want to do.
To sing in front of these four superstars
today is unbelievable.
I want them to feel how badly I want this.
* This is "The Voice" *
Daly: Welcome back to night two of the blind auditions.
* Don't take these beautiful things that I got *
Braxton: My daughter enjoys singing a lot.
She is so sweet and loving and just the best big sister.
My son always has a guitar around the house.
If there's a microphone laying around,
he's the first one to grab it.
He's so sweet, but an absolute menace.
He's constantly being chased after for something.
In the grass. [ Laughs ]
My kids are just an absolute blessing in my life.
Me and both of their mothers are doing the best we can
to co-parent and raise two beautiful little souls.
I'm Braxton Garza.
I'm 28 years old and I'm from Adrian, Michigan.
This is where my dad built a soccer platform
back there for us.
My dad was amazing. Very loving.
He taught me to be more caring towards my own children.
He was the biggest cheerleader in my musical career.
He immediately would tell me, "Oh, I need you to play this.
I need you to play that."
Very supportive.
I noticed he was getting sick.
He started having issues breathing.
He had caught COVID, fall of 2020
and just slowly started progressing
and getting worse and worse.
The doctor told all of us
that my dad had less than a week to be here with us.
Oh, I'm sorry.
One of the last things he told me
was that he didn't want to be remembered by anything
but how he loved,
and he was the most loving person I've ever met in my life.
Daddy's about to go sing, huh? You want to wish me luck?
Good luck, Dad.
[ Both laugh ]
I play here and there, but not a lot of big gigs.
So, to have a chair turn would change a lot of things.
It's an absolute shame that my dad is not able to see this,
but I know he'd be so proud.
I'm hoping he's here to help me carry through this
in the best way possible.

[ Cheers and applause ]
Yee-haw!
**
I used my block. I used my block.
I used it the right way. I used my block.
I used my block. I got you on my team today.
Whoo! Oh! My man.
Oh, I'm so excited. I'm so mad at you, I can't even look at you.
And you're learning how to rap as well.
And not very well. Oh!
What's your name, my brother?
My name is Braxton Garza.
I'm from Adrian, Michigan.
I'm 28 years old.
Oh, you're so good.
Uh, Braxton, I'm gonna chime in right quick.
When I hear a voice like yours, I only know one thing --
Blake Shelton.
[ Laughter ]
He happened to me so many times.
He's so traumatized.
When it came to voices like yours,
my heart has been broken so many times, my friend.
However, Bublé, because he is ruthless,
blocked Kelsea... Yeah. Brutal.
...who I would have loved to see you with.
And so, now you have to be with Michael.
Michael's the man. Michael's the man.
You know...
Go ahead, Kels. Go ahead.
Don't talk to me, okay?
I mean, I hear you as country,
but I also hear you in that pocket of music
right now that's thriving of, like,
the Zach Bryans and the Noah Kahans.
And you have one foot in country,
but it's bigger than that.
Kind of like Kelsea Ballerini.
I feel like your voice is so special
and right in that pocket.
And I know that pocket,
and I'm inspired by that pocket also.
Adam: Braxton, you got to look at it this way, okay?
If Bublé drops the ball,
you got Kelsea right here to pick it up. I'm ready.
Michael: Can I tell you something, Braxton?
If my freezing this incredible artist out
doesn't tell you that I'm never gonna drop the ball --
Oh! Oh, ay-ay-ay.
I'm telling you now I knew what I was doing.
A lot of big talk, Bublé.
Well, it's easy when you're an international superstar.
Oh, my goodness. Oh, my goodness.
[ Cheers and applause ]
Welcome to my team, Braxton.
Yeah, let's go, let's go!
Sorry, Kelsea. I wanted Braxton very badly.
And I knew if I wanted a chance to have a country person
on my team, I had to push that block button.
That was some tactical stuff that I was doing
because I knew I had to have you, man.
What I liked about Braxton was there was this wonderful grit,
this great character in the voice.
And I was so proud of myself
for using that block the right way.
Hey, I'm fresh off a win in my first season.
So, you think I didn't learn from a whole season
with Reba McEntire?
It's nice to meet you. I'm Mike.
Dirty! So dirty, so dirty.
You wouldn't use a block in that way. Y'all starting to play dirty.
Who would do such a thing?
Michael.
Michael. Michael. Michael.
[ Cheers and applause ]
Michael, using your block is not very Canadian of you.
I'm so sorry. Did I block you?
Again? Not again.
So, who has a block left? You and me.
Game on, Michael.
One thing that you should know about southern women
via our music is revenge is best served...
[ Crickets chirp ]
...loud with fire?
Uh, I don't know.
I'll send you some songs.
In a trunk? "Goodbye, Earl."
[ Laughs ]
Not in a trunk.
I want to talk to you about producing my rap record.
I would love a rap record to come from you.
Oh, dude. Don't make me.
The world is waiting for the Bublé hip-hop album.
[ Laughter ]
You just got a little taste of it tonight.
No, no.
I've been underestimated too many times.
I got a sick flow, dude. Oh, my God.
* This is "The Voice" *
Daly: Welcome back to the blind auditions.
Hi, Mom!
Woman: Look at you! Are you having fun?
I am. It's day two.
Adam: Hi, Mom. This is my friend Adam.
Hey, Adam. Hi.
You have a lovely daughter.
Who is it? Kelsea: This is my mama.
This is Michael.
Mom, she is so --
She is so amazing.
You should be so proud.
I know you're proud.
They're being very nice to me.
Announcer: 30 seconds out. 30 seconds.
Kelsea: Okay, I'll call you later.
Love you, sweetie. Love you, Mom. Bye.
Carmela: I love rock music.
I love the energy. I love the attitude.
The first rock concert I ever went to,
I feel like that's when my life totally changed.
It was like, I could do that.
I'm Carmela.
I'm 29, and I'm from Los Angeles, California.
I always knew I was going to find some kind of
untraditional path for myself.
In our stream, we tend to go from 0 to 100 a lot.
A few years ago, I started live streaming
and I was able to start building this community of people
who love my music, which has been nuts.
I love live streaming.
It's changed my life in so many ways,
but every time my band gets to play live,
I just think to myself,
what a dream it would be to just get to travel the world
and play stadiums.
"The Voice" is such a huge opportunity to grow.
Announcer: Our next artist is entering now.
Carmela: I've done everything myself up until this point,
and so I'm ready to have some coaching.
You ready, buddy?
Are you ready?
[ Laughter ]

Wow!
* Alone *
Wow.
Sorry, guys.
What's your name?
Carmela.
What a pretty name.
You have a really cool voice that's distinct and unique.
The truth is, I've never heard that song before.
And I felt like maybe
I might not be the best coach for that.
But you have a really great range.
And thank you for coming to "The Voice."
Thank you so much.
Carmela, I have to applaud your ambition, though,
because Chris Cornell was an animal.
He was taken too early from us.
You have a good voice, man.
Like, I wouldn't put as much pressure on yourself
to do something that is that drag out.
So, come back again and give it another shot.
Thanks so much.
I feel like as much as it's about your voice,
to have this big career as an artist,
you also have to have audacity.
And you do.
And the fact that you did that, it's really bad ass.
Thank you so much again.
Amazing. Thank you.
Adam: It's hard when no chairs turn around.
It's never fun, but I think if you can give them
a constructive idea to go home with,
it's really helpful to them.
That was great. Thanks.
I don't think I pushed my button in a while.
I have to be inspired.
She did one run and I was like, that's a Kelly run. Yeah.
My dream voice, I like when there's enough versatility
to do different things.
What do you listen to? Everybody.
But also it's contained enough
so that it's not too over the top.
I guess that's what I'm looking for.
If you could just put me right above the "Voice" sign,
that's ideal. We could spread them out.
Yeah, we could just squeeze me in there somewhere.
I've wanted to be on "The Voice" since I was really young.
The way that music touches people's hearts
is what pulls me to do music.
My name is Britton Moore.
I am 21 years old and I'm from San Antonio, Texas.
I always wanted this.
I started playing sports when I was 4 years old.
Baseball was honestly everything.
[ Bat cracks, people shouting ]
I went to the Little League World Series.
I was on varsity as a freshman.
Sports was my main priority all throughout high school,
but in the background, I was singing.
So my senior year, I had signed up
and I was getting ready to come out here to be on "The Voice,"
but my team ended up going to the Texas 6A State Championship.
So I had decided not to come out.
And even though it was incredible
and that's all I've ever known, music holds my heart.
So I decided to switch paths.
And now it's my time to do this.
Alright, babe, you ready?
I'm more than ready.
I know. Long time coming.
Britton: For my blind audition,
I'm gonna be singing "Yellow" by Coldplay.
The lyrics within the song,
I like to look at it as the blessings that we've been given.
And along with those blessings is this audition
and this amazing opportunity to get to sing
in front of these incredible four coaches.
I have shared my voice on social media,
but this is the biggest stage I've ever been on,
and [Breathes deeply] I'm nervous.
I think that making a team
would just validate my change from baseball to music.
It's kind of all on the line right now.
* This is "The Voice" *
Daly: Welcome back.
Kelsea, what notes are you doing right now?
If I'm being so honest with you,
I'm doing tallies so I can keep up.
[ Laughter ] That's hilarious.
Man: Okay, here we go.
It's really funny, the only thing I've used this for
was throwing papers at Kelsea,
and she didn't realize it the whole time.
And I've been doing it over and over and over...
Ah! ...like that, and that's the first time you saw it.
[ Laughs ] Your aim needs to get better.
[ Laughs ]
Good luck, guys. Thank you.
Hi.
[ "Yellow" playing ]
Ooh, good song.
* Look at the stars *
* Look how they shine for you *
[ Cheers and applause ]
* And everything you do *
Wow, that was fast. Congratulations.
That's awesome. * Well, they were all yellow *
* I came along *
Ooh. * Alo-o-o-ng * * I wrote a song for you *
* And all the things you do *
Mm!
* And it was called "Yellow" *
Kind of a cool voice, eh, character voice.
Mm-hmm.
I want to know what happens now.
* Oh *
* Your skin *
* Oh, yeah, your skin and bones *
* Turn into *
Why not? * Something beautiful *
* You know *
Whoo! * For you I'd bleed myself dry *
* For you I'd bleed myself dry *
Yeah!
* Look how they shine for you *
* Look how they shine for you *
* Look how they shine *
Wow.
* Look at the stars *
* Look how they shine for you *
Whoo!
Oh, God! * And all the things that you do *
[ Cheers and applause ]
Oh, God.
John: Four chairs. Wow!
Four chairs. Yeah!
Well done.
What is your name?
My name is Britton Moore.
I'm from San Antonio, Texas, and I'm 21 years old.
Hey, Britton. You're 21? He's a baby.
[ Laughter ] Adam: Wow, man.
When I turned around way before everybody else...
Mm. I saw that, I saw that.
...when I heard you go into your falsetto,
I was like, "Okay, I need to coach this guy,"
'cause there was definitely something in your voice
that reminded me a little bit of how I do it.
I just felt, like, an instant connection with you,
and I pushed really early because I thought that,
"Man, this kid's gonna be special."
And I was right. You were amazing, dude.
Thank you so much.
Singing falsetto is actually really hard in a live setting.
I always tell my artists,
"Your falsetto will betray you when you need it most."
And it did not betray you.
And you sounded so effortless.
And you, like, really took some creative leaps, I thought.
I think nobody sounds like you on the show.
For sure. And that will be exciting,
and it would be so fun to coach you.
It's exciting. [ Laughs ]
Hey, Brit, I turned last,
partly because I wanted to be sure,
and also because I have terrible FOMO.
And the truth is, Britton, I love character voices.
Not everybody has to sound like a Celine Dion or Whitney Houston
doing runs and all that stuff.
I'm glad I turned, man. I'm glad I'm part of the party.
Thank you so much. Thank you.
Can I call you Brit?
That's totally okay. Perfect.
We go way back. You're from Texas.
I'm from Tennessee. Similar.
You're 21.
I respect my elders.
[ Laughter ]
Kelsea Ballerini is coming today.
Ouch!
In all seriousness,
you can kind of tap into whatever genre you feel like,
and that's what I'm looking for on my team.
I know that I'm a country artist,
but I want to continue to always evolve
and to be more than one thing, and I see that in you.
I also just feel like, like, I'm on TikTok.
Have you guys heard of that?
Yes. I'm also on TikTok.
I get some good views. No, I never heard of the TikTok.
What's a TikTok? I get some views on TikTok.
Just so, you know, "tick tock" is the sound
that the tap shoes make when they're dancing to jazz music.
Kelsea: Exactly. Yeah.
I don't know about your TikTok'ing.
Anyway, there was a purity to your voice
and there was a uniqueness to your voice,
and I think we haven't really talked about that enough.
* Yeah, I'm calling dibs*
[ Laughter ] Oh!
You have a button with your own song.
She's got tricks, folks. She's got tricks up her sleeve.
And it's her song, "I'm calling dibs."
Anyway, I don't have a button with my song on it, but... Calling dibs.
She's calling dibs on Brit.
Michael: It's fun. * Yeah, I'm calling dibs*
I don't even know what that means, but it's awesome.
Britton, you are so beloved.
That was a song of mine from like eight years ago.
[ Laughs ]
But I need it to work today, right now.
Nah, nah.
I actually -- I want to say one more thing.
Don't let it woo you. I'm gonna lay it on thick.
You get the last word. Thank you.
It's yours. * She's calling dibs *
You're being very nice. It's because I --
It's really scary. I'm being really nice
because I genuinely think you're a wonderful human being.
Oh, my gosh.
I feel the same way. It is totally true.
But -- But?
But...
But do you want a coach that is going to coach you
to have a voice similar to his voice?
That's not -- Don't -- She -- Ba-ba-da.
* Hey, she's calling dibs *
Wouldn't it be wild if you just went and picked someone
that's totally not either of them?
Yeah. Kelsea: No.
[ Cheers and applause ] Don't applaud.
Don't you dare applaud that.
Alright, it's time. It's time.
Britton: It's time. Britton, who do you pick as your coach?
[ Audience shouting ]
[ Laughs ]
Please.
Texas. I'm not bribing you.
Alright.
I choose...
...Team Adam. Yes.
[ Cheers and applause ]
Bye!
Let's go!
* Get up, get up, get up *
Adam: I feel really, really good.
At this point, almost half my team is four-chair turns.
Kelsea, her learning curve is frightening.
She's -- She's getting good at this thing.
I love Britton's voice. It's different.
His ability to transition into a falsetto is, like,
something that I really love and hold dear.
Awesome. And I rarely get voices that are,
in certain ways, connected to mine.
It didn't work. My "Dibs" didn't work.
They were made for each other.
I can't even talk about Britton. It still hurts.
I tried everything. I loved you.
I'm sorry, guys. I'm sorry.
[ Sighs ] I get it.
That is so sick. Right on.
Adam just wants a bunch of little clones running around,
I guess.
Kelsea Ballerini. Look at that.
And you know what I really like?
That you can also drink out of them.
Yeah. Shoey.
[ Cheers and applause ]
Adam has not lost a step.
Adam has lost nothing.
John: You know, Adam's gonna be tough competition.
He has a lot of experience on this show,
but he's been away for a while.
So I'm gonna fight for every four-chair
and try to retain my title as the four-chair king.
That hurt. Adam: I love beating everybody.
Ego stroke. Feels good.
She said we were old.
[ Laughter ]
