And I try my best to instill in them

what life is truly about.

I want this film to reach and bridge the generational gap

between our younger adults

and the generation before them.

I would like to see a better community with great harmony.

You see, "Magic" is the title of this film

because I witnessed a once beautiful community

metamorph into something that is now looked down on.

And it seems to be forgotten.

Englewood, I grew up there.

And to this day I frequent it on the regular.

I've seen entire neighborhood blocks degenerate

from four blocks to just one or two livable buildings.

With that being said, our, my community,

is looked upon as a place of no hope,

talent, faith, dreams.

And the challenge in educational structure,

there are no real programs for the youth

and very little employment programs.

But the violence is very high.

I filmed this movie to reach out to the community

in order to gain a better structure.

Make it known that there is hope,

there is faith, there are dreams,

there is talent.

There are some well educated youth as well as adults.

I am Englewood.

I would like to see the structure of my community

grow strong with peace and inspiration and foundation.

Put programs there where the youth can learn

a craft like filmmaking, creative writing,

production, self motivation.

Bring back the afterschool homework programs.

And not just in one area,

make them accessible to everyone.

There's an Englewood in almost every big city in America.

And I would like for the film, "Magic."

to reach out and touch someone

to make them get up and make it happen.

As a man, I apologize for my part

that I played in neglecting the lost generation.

The youth that has become so morally out of touch
