- Are you gonna be like this all day?

Like freaked out because we're
in the middle of nowhere,

and some crazy family of mutants
is probably gonna kill us.

Like that, you mean?

- Crazy family of mutants.

- Could happen.

- Well, I guess I shouldn't
tell you the other reason

why we picked this spot
to have the party, then.

- See, when you say something like that,

I know you'd better just tell me.

- Well, it's not exactly a secret.

Back in the 50's,

the Whitmores were the
richest family in town.

They had this huge, old estate

in the middle of nowhere, right?

They had this swanky masquerade
ball in a manor house.

At about midnight, the
constable gets a call.

It's from eight-year-old Whitmore boy.

- And?

- And the kid's freak out.

He tells the constable that some guy

wearing some kind of a bird
mask came into the manor house

and kills everybody at
the masquerade ball.

And he made the kid watch.

- Christ.

- Yeah.

So the cops showed up,

the whole place is a bloodbath,

the kid is in shock.

They don't know who this bird mask guy,

they don't know where he
came from, and most of all,

they don't know how he could have killed

50 people at this ball.

Well, the only clue they have is this

written message the killer left behind.

- You mean like he left
a note or something?

- No, like he'd written it in blood.

Nevermore.

- I heard this story.

I thought it was just a bunch of hooey.

- No, it really happened.

They boarded up the place after that

and sent little Whitmore boy off

to an orphanage or something.

- No, seriously.

You're kidding me, right?

We're we having some half-ass soiree

in the same spot as
the Ravenwood Massacre?

That's sick, mate.

- Hey, don't take it up with
me, take it up with Roderick.

- Oh, yeah, I'm really gonna
take it up with Roderick.

- Well, it was his idea.

This place is an historic landmark.

Why do you think we
picked it for the party?

Anyway, doesn't this place
still belong to the Whitmores?

- Well, I guess the town got it

after the bank foreclosed on it.

- It's a masquerade ball, remember?

- Yeah.

- [Danny] I don't know
where the generator is.

- Danny?

- I'm the Raven, and I've
killed a bunch of rich girls

at some softcore party.

- Bugger!

- Hey, don't get mad at me.

It was Roderick's idea.

- Yeah, Roderick.

Great guy, Danny.

He's like a walking horror novel.

I mean, I'm all up for having

one last flim before university,

- Hey.

Okay, see, now these are the
kinds of decorations I like.

blow-by-blow description,

and if everything works out okay,

- [Record Narrator] Open
here I flung the shutter,

when, with many a flirt and flutter,

in there stepped a stately raven

of the saintly days of yore.

Not the least obeisance made he,

not a minute stopped or stayed he,

with mien of lord or lady,
perched above my chamber door,

perched upon a bust of Pallas
just above my chamber door.

- [Voicemail Recording] Roderick here.

After the beep, leave me all your secrets.

- Yeah, hi Roderick, this is Ray.

Your message is lame.

Anyway, I just thought I'd let you know

that I figured out yours
and Danny's whole plan

to drag me out here into
the middle of nowhere

and scare the piss out of me.

kicking both of your asses.

(footsteps approaching)

- [Record Narrator] Then

thought I'd let you know

that I figured out yours
and Danny's whole plan

to drag me out here

into the middle of nowhere
- Terrific.

Ray and Danny were supposed to set up

for the party last night.

Seems that they got pissed

and decided to prank call me instead.

- [Ray] I mean it,
Roderick, this isn't funny.

- From what I could tell,

haven't even sobered up yet.

while they were setting up.

- So that means we're going
to have to do all the work

- [Chandler] It doesn't affect the taste.

- Well, as much as I dig standing around

in front of this creepy old house all day,

I think we should just probably break in.

(foreboding music)

- Hello, party people!

We come bearing gifts.

- [Chandler] Terrance, nice hat.

- It's my party hat.

- Look, guys, we have a problem.

- Ray and Danny were supposed
to drive out here last night

and put up the rest of
the items for the party.

I gave them my set of keys.

- So, where are they?

- Damned if I know.

Ray left a really weird message
on my mobile last night.

He sounded pretty messed up.

I figured they'd be here, sleeping it off.

- They called from here?

- I don't know where they called from.

It was Ray's phone, though.

- Here's mine.

After this, we'll have all
the liquor moved in anyway.

- Okay, you and Terrance
get all the booze unloaded,

and we'll take care of setting
up the rest of the manor.

(dance music)

(foreboding music)

- Great, well we know Ray
and Danny were here, anyway.

- Well, they couldn't have been here long.

There's still booze left.

- Well, it ain't strawberry jam.

- Well, if I had to guess,

it was the fake blood
we used to paint that.

- Why in the world did you
pour fake blood everywhere?

- I didn't do it.

- Looks like somebody's
been slid across the floor.

- (sighs) I'll clean it up, I guess.

I want you guys to look around

and see if Ray and Danny are still here.

- I suppose I should wipe this off.

- I think the kitchen's through there.

- Bloody terrific.

(shouts)

- I suggest that, unless you think

that I'm a piece of toast,

that you put that butter knife down.

- Of course, you snuck
in through the back door

because you're one of
those friendly psychos.

Excuse me while I squeeze through here.

- My name is Whitmore.

- Bollocks.

- Oh, you mean like on
the restraining order

that says you have to stay
500 meters from this estate?

- It's the town's property.

We have a permit to be here, you don't.

I was there when it first
came out of the moors,

50 years ago tonight.

- Oh, I totally think I scared
him with my butter knife.

- So that was Whitmore?

- Every time we petitioned
town hall for a permit

to have the party on this property,

he would show up and cause a scene.

- Jesus, who could blame him?

- They foreclosed on this
place like 20 years ago.

He probably hasn't even been
here since he was a kid.

- Wait, the Whitmore kid?

Jesus, Roderick, how many people

are you planning on pissing off today?

- Just find Ray and Danny, okay?

I'll clean up the mess out there

and make sure nobody
else decides to sneak in.

- You forgot to tell us about that part.

decided to have this party,

in this house, on the 50th anniversary

of the Ravenwood Massacre.

- That's the whole point.

We're reenacting the
exact same masquerade ball

they had here, 50 years ago tonight.

That's what makes it so much fun!

- What about the other part?

50 years before that.

The Twiney sisters get
murdered out on the moors.

The old man's head they found

at the manor gates back in the 1800s.

You know about these stories.

The Ravenwood curse.

- Oh, the Ravenwood curse?

- Don't play coy, Roderick.

Every 50 years, somebody
dies out on these grounds.

- Those are ghost stories.

Local legends.

Come on, Whitmore's been
milking this thing for decades.

Nobody believes in the Ravenwood curse,

and nobody believes that shite
about a guy in a raven mask.

- Whitmore does.

- We're definitely
going to have to hustle.

I think Roderick said the party

was supposed to start around nine.

- Well, how about Roderick
gets his ass out here

and helps us a bit?

- What happened to the paint?

I still have to shower and
put on my tuxedo, okay?

Now can we move this along?

- (sighs) Fine.

(squawks)

is Ray and Danny's car.

- Hmm, so there's blood all
over the bar downstairs,

You were right the whole time.

- No, seriously, you're kidding, right?

Helen?

- Yes, I'm just kidding.

- Then what's the blood doing
all over the floor like that?

- I don't know, it's all
part of the show, isn't it?

It was a bit much, though, if you ask me.

(phone ringing)

It's Ray.

- He must have heard you.

- Hello, sleeping beauty.

Did you and Danny forget about
the masquerade ball today?

- Ghastly grim and ancient Raven

wandering from the nightly shore,

tell me what thy lordly name is.

- Who is this?

- I'll make a formal
introduction at a later time.

All you need to know right
now is that I'm a friend.

- Look, Ray, this is cute and everything,

but if you and Danny
don't make an appearance

in the next five minutes,

Roderick's gonna be a
wee bit off about it.

- I'm very concerned about you, Helen.

Check the nursery.

- Why's that?

(phone beeps)

(phone rings)

He's not answering.

- What did it say?

- Well, firstly, he was doing
some kind of scary voice,

and then he said something
about checking the nursery.

(suspenseful music)

(generator hums)

Do you think this was
baby Whitmore's crib?

- God, imagine the therapy

Whitmore had to go through as a child.

- This is bad.

- Oh, my.

These are Roderick's
invitations to the party.

He had them packed up

so he could bulk-mail
them out to everybody.

Royal mail was supposed to pick these up

from his house last week.

The idea was, nobody was even gonna know

where the party was without an invitation.

- Who the hell could have done this?

- Well, we found their clothes, anyway.

Think I'd recognize Danny's
huge trainers anywhere.

- Do you think they changed
into costumes or something?

- Nevermind the costumes,
what are their clothes doing

in a crib full of ruined invites?

More fake blood, I suppose.

- Well, they could've gotten
it all over their clothes

and maybe taken them off.

- It's a hell of a place to
stash your dirty laundry.

- You think Ray and Danny
sabotaged the masquerade ball?

- Let's see, you get a strange
phone call from Ray's mobile,

telling us to come look up in the nursery,

where we find A, a crib
full of ruined invites,

and B, two sets of bloody clothes.

Who do you think it is?

- I think we should go and
have a talk with Roderick.

- Roderick, we've got problems.

What are you doing?

- It's Roderick's mobile.

There's a message waiting on it.

- So, like you said, it's
his mobile, put it down.

- I thought so.

It was Ray, five minutes ago.

- So Ray's just prank-calling
everybody he knows.

I'm not even gonna ask

how you know the password
to Roderick's voicemail.

- I set it up for him.

He's technically challenged.

- [Raven] Hello, Roderick.

I see you decided not to
wait for me to call you back.

No matter, I've taken care
of a few loose ends for you.

The rest of your friends will follow.

Soon it's just going to be you and me.

Then we're going to see
how much you like my joke.

- It's that same scary voice
that was on my phone earlier.

- Let me hear, I don't think scary voices

are quite Ray's style.

- [Voicemail] First message.

- What are you doing with my phone?

- The little flashy thing was on...

It was her idea.
- My idea?

- I don't care whose idea it was.

Under no circumstances

to touch my mobile.

- Anyway, where have you
been this whole time?

- After I cleaned up the mess,

I went to help Stone and Terrance.

- Probably snuck off somewhere
to go smoke a reefer.

- Great, is there anybody
besides us who isn't missing?

Did you try and start the generator?

The door's padlocked.

Stone has the keys, he must have tried.

- [Voicemail] Message deleted.

- Why did you do that?

Look, when somebody's
calling us from Ray's number,

whoever it is, they called
me a short while ago, too,

while we were upstairs.

- It was Ray.

- That was not Ray.

It was somebody with a deep, scary voice,

saying something about loose ends

and how all your friends
were gonna follow.

- Fine, I'll call him back.

- I've tried already, he's not answering.

- Okay.

- Look, whoever it was that
called us from Ray's phone,

they told us to go check the nursery.

- We went upstairs and
we found all the invites.

They never went out.

And somebody's shredded them all up.

- They got picked up
from my house a week ago.

- Nobody's coming to the
masquerade ball, Roderick.

- How did this happen?

- We also found Ray and Danny's clothes.

They were covered in blood.

Something's up, maybe we
should call the constable.

- We're not calling anyone

until I get to the bottom of this.

- I don't think Ray and Danny
would've sabotaged the party.

- They didn't.

Somebody else must have
been pulling their strings.

- And who could that be?

(clanking)

- [Roderick] Drake.

- So how's the party going, yeah?

- We were on our way here

when Drake decided to jump out of the car.

- We don't know how
much he's been drinking.

- He's been wandering around
in the moors for a while,

we just found him--

- I think you made a mistake.

- You didn't tell us about this being

I just wanted to throw a

gonna sabotage those invites

(phone beeps)

- I'll call some of my old drama buddies.

If there's one thing
an actor won't pass up,

it's free alcohol.

- I can call a tow.

- Hold on.

Let me find out where everybody is first.

I need to round up Ray,
Danny, Stone, Terrance--

- Drake?

- There's probably some massive orgy

happening out in the moors
and we're missing out.

- Look, for all we know,
Drake could've come out here

last night and did
something to Ray and Danny.

I mean, why put those bloody
clothes with the invites?

- I knew it was blood.

- Let's be reasonable, I doubt even Drake

has it in him to murder anybody.

- Come on, you saw the
knife, he's out of his gourd.

- Chandler, drink more, think less.

- Give me your keys.

- What do you need them for?

- While I'm out there,
I'll walk up to a car

and see if Drake messed with it.

If he didn't, I'll just drive right back.

- Don't you think we should go with you?

I mean, it's a lot of people to look for.

- The last thing I want you
guys to do is go anywhere.

There's enough people missing already.

house for whatever reason,

and if anybody should
come back, try calling me.

- What about calling some people?

- I need to find out where
everybody else is first.

We'll start calling as soon as I get back.

- And if you should
happen to run into Drake?

- I'll deal with it.

(phone ringing)

- [Raven] It looks like you
finally got to the phone

when no one was looking.

I find it interesting that you're lying

to your friends about me.

Of course, you've been
lying to your friends

about a lot of things.

Like prep school, for example.

Oh, if they only knew the truth.

You can't bury me any longer, Roderick.

I promised you the jokes would
end tonight, and they will.

Everyone in that house is going to die.

Just like the last time,

and then you're finally going

to see what I look like under the mask.

- [Chandler] Okay, now it's a party.

- So all those people really
died here, 50 years ago?

- So they say.

You know, a whole masquerade
ball of well-to-do elites dead.

Throats slit, like so many
pigs to the slaughter.

You know, Scotland Yard
went over the whole estate

with a fine-toothed comb,

who knows what really happened here?

- They never found the person who did it?

- They never found Jack
the Ripper, either.

- Anyways, the legend of the Raven's

a lot older than this place.

- I don't follow.

- Haven't you ever heard the story?

They say this place was the burial grounds

for druid high priests 4,000 years ago.

When they founded this
place back in the 1400s,

they found burial mounds everywhere.

- Of course, those burial mounds
were on prime real estate,

so they dug them up, and all the remains

and all the ceremonial
rubbish was all burned.

- Oh, my.

(suspenseful music)

(film projector whirs)

- [Raven] Pembroke.

- Who's there?

Stone?

Danny?

Drake?

Hello?

Who's there?

- Supposedly, some old
religious bloke comes along

and warns all the villagers
that the mounds are protected

by an elemental, a demon
in the form of a raven.

And sure enough, 50 years later--

- 50 years later,
something starts coming in

out of the moors late at night.

and claim its next victim,
a villager, a small child.

- They went looking
for it, never found it.

Finally, the killings just stopped.

For another 50 years,
then it happened again.

- Yeah, and again after
that, every 50 years,

until this night, so the legend says,

'till the ravens come home to roost.

That is how Ravenwood Manor got its name.

- You guys are messing with me, right?

Anyway, that's probably how Whitmore

got the idea in the '50s.

- You think Whitmore killed
62 grown men and women?

Wasn't he like 50 or
something when it happened?

- Just think it's a little strange

that they never found the Raven.

I mean, come on, the guy running around

with the raven mask on,
killing people around here.

(heart beating)

- You know, not to change
the subject or anything,

but I'm kind of worried about Roderick.

He's been acting a bit strange.

- Who knows why Roderick does

the craziness that Roderick does?

But he has been acting a bit weird,

especially about wanting to
set up this masquerade ball.

It's a bit morbid, if you ask me.

- What's the big secret
between Roderick and Drake?

- It's not really a big secret.

It was prep school, and there's
always drama at prep school.

- Roderick and Drake
used to be best friends.

You see, our Mr. Roderick
wasn't always the geeky,

misfit we know and love today.

Back in prep school, he was the geeky,

and I think he had a hard
time carrying himself

with the rich kids, which is
exactly where he wanted to be.

Needless to say, Drake and
Roderick became fast friends.

Then one day, Drake drops a bombshell.

That soul-destroying
teenage popularity machine

had claimed another victim.

- Hey.

- You didn't call last night.

- I finally made the team,
can you believe that?

- Oh.

- You coming with us to
Tommy's dorm after lessons?

Word is he snuck out two
bottles of communion wine

out of the rec tree.

- Hey mate, who does she think she is?

it's so last century.

- No, you mean the century before that.

(laughs)
- Drake!

- Who are you waiting for, darling?

Drake?

- Nobody.

- [Chandler] It was,
well, the first big love

of Roderick's life, and then it was over,

and he was unable to move on,

but Drake, I think, had already moved on.

He met another guy.

His name was Ned Bicksley or something.

- Sad story.

You know, Bicksley vanished a month later,

I think he was transferred
to another school.

Who knows?

At any rate, the damage had been done.

- That still doesn't explain
what went down today.

- Well see, Roderick had the last say,

one day, when Drake
was least expecting it.

- You bloody bitch!

This isn't over, Roderick!

- Congrats on making the team.
- Farmer Drake.

(both laugh)

After that, Drake started drinking,

or getting into a decent university.

- Ah, and Roderick comes out
on top, makes new friends,

becomes popular, and he just
gets entire more college.

- And his family's money
finances a swanky masquerade ball

at Ravenwood Manor to celebrate.

Granted, the last party's a bit morbid.

- So everybody missing, the
invites getting shredded,

Ray or whoever it is
prank-calling everybody?

- Revenge, maybe?

You know, the heart does make
you do some crazy things.

(dance music)

(film projector whirs)
(suspenseful music)

(screams)

- I have to tell you something.

- Drake's not drunk.

It's an act.

- I don't follow.

- He set this whole thing up,

where Pembroke and I were
supposed to drive him out here

and make like he went
berserk or something.

It was all just a big ploy
to get Roderick by himself.

can't just let him walk around

out there like that, you know.

- I'm sorry.

I don't think Drake's gonna

whole thing for one reason,

to get drunken, belligerent

out from under his rock.

with some elaborate
ploy to ruin the party!

Everything went exactly
as we planned, Drake.

Oh hell, you even managed to kill me,

as evident in this defensive wound.

And all those calls you kept making

from your victim's mobile?

Thankfully, after the last attack,

I was somehow able to call the police

and tell them all about you.

You got away with one murder, Drake.
