An Archaeological Discovery

In The Castle Above
That May Settle The Question

The Fortress Is Too New
To Be Arthur's.

It Was Built

Or What's Left Of It.

Today, It's Really
Just A Skeleton

Of What Was One Of The Richest
And Most Powerful Monasteries

In All Of England.

And In The Very Late
12Th Century,

The Monks Here Claimed To Make
An Incredible Discovery.

They Claimed To Find The Bones

Of King Arthur And His Wife,
Guinevere.

In The 12Th Century, King Arthur
Was Already A Celebrity.

So The Discovery Of His Grave

Turned Glastonbury Into
A Medieval Tourist Attraction.

The Monks Claimed To Discover
Two Skeletons In A Coffin

And A Cross Identifying Them
As Arthur And Guinevere.

There's Just One Problem --

It's Almost Certainly A Hoax.

After All, The Monastery
Had Just Suffered A Major Fire

And Was On Hard Times.

The Monks' Suspiciously
Well-Timed Discovery

Of Arthur's Bones Ensured
They'd Have All The Donations

They Needed To Rebuild.

And As For The So-Called
Glastonbury Cross,

It Was Lost To History.
