>> Sally: But, then again, I did think back to our dinner party

and the way they bonded.

He called and he asked to come over.

Hope and Liam have been going through a really difficult time.

>> Wyatt: Well, losing Beth was devastating for them.

>> Wyatt: Yeah, and, of course, they love each other and Liam's

committed to Hope and everything, but...

>> Sally: Yeah, and Hope feels the same way about Liam.

>> Wyatt: Mm.

Look, I'm not questioning their commitment.

I'm just -- I don't know.

I'm worried.

You know, I don't mean to be negative about this situation,

'cause that's the last thing they need right now.

But it just -- I-It feels like Hope is...

stuck.

And I don't know.

I mean, I'm -- I wonder if it's beginning to take a toll on

their relationship.

[ Knock on door ] >> Hope: It's open!

Oh, my goodness! Is that for me?

[ Gasps ] Oh, my.

My mom knows how much fresh flowers cheer me up.

>> Liam: I know, I know -- that Flo's dad is Hope's

uncle Storm.

That's insane.

>> Sally: [ Sighs ] I mean, yeah, but when you think

about it, it actually does make sense that they're related --

the way that Hope and Flo hit it off and, you know, the way Hope

feels this connection to Phoebe.

>> Wyatt: [ Clears throat ] >> Sally: Phoebe's birth mother

is Hope's cousin.

>> Wyatt: H-How are you and Hope handling all of this?

>> Liam: Um...

same as anything else, I guess.

>> Sally: You know, if you guys need some time to talk, I can

take off for a little bit.

>> Liam: No. Actually, it would be great if you stayed.

I wouldn't mind a woman's perspective on this.

>> Sally: I mean, yeah, if I can help out at all.

>> Liam: I don't know what Wyatt's told you, but, um...

I'm a little worried about Hope and our marriage.

I mean, she's -- she's going through a lot right now, and I'm

totally sympathetic to that.

Losing a child -- it's not something you just get over,

but...

you know, there are supposed to be ways to cope, you know, and

to move forward, and I've been trying to help Hope with that,

and -- and...

no matter what I do, it's just not -- it's not getting any

better, and, in fact, some days...

it, um...

kind of feels like it's getting worse.

>> Wyatt: How?

>> Liam: Well, you know, I mean, I know Hope and I love each

other very much, but -- but there's this wall between us,

obviously, and -- and it's...

just getting higher and higher.

>> Sally: So, you're not getting through to her?

>> Liam: [ Chuckles ] Hope and I are -- are not...

really together on any level -- like, emotionally or...

physically.

>> Wyatt: Mm-hmm. So...

>> Sally: Oh. So, you guys aren't...

>> Liam: No. No.

Not since Beth, no.

>> Wyatt: But that's like -- Grief will do that.

Grief -- it's g-- you know...

>> Liam: Yes, yes, and -- and, you know, I'm -- I'm being

understanding and supportive, and I wouldn't push her into

anything, but I-I just -- I don't know what to do, and...

we've already been through so much, and I just don't want this

to be, like, another thing that comes between us, you know?

>> Thomas: Ahh. Yeah.

>> Hope: I think this flower belongs in a special place, just

like you, Douglas, have a very special place in my heart.

Hey, and you know what?

You bring me the coolest, most wonderful little presents when

you come to visit me.

>> Douglas: Daddy knew you'd like the flower.

>> Thomas: [ Chuckles ] Yeah.

You know what she would also like?

One of those cool rocks you found out by the tree.

>> Hope: [ Gasps ] Ooh, I really like the sparkly ones.

>> Douglas: Okay. I'll find one.

>> Hope: [ Chuckles ] >> Thomas: Okay, but stay close

to the house, where we can see you.

[ Sighs ] The flowers really were his

idea.

>> Hope: No, I know.

He told me that his mommy liked to bring gifts when she visited

people.

>> Thomas: Yeah. Sometimes, uh, when he wakes up after he's

dreamed about her, he, uh, looks around the room to see if she

left him something.

>> Hope: That's really sweet.

>> Thomas: Yeah. Those dreams used to upset him, but they

don't anymore...

thanks to you.

You -- You told him about how you -- you dream about Beth...

and it makes you happy to see her laughing and smiling.

>> Hope: Well, it's true.

>> Thomas: [ Chuckles softly ] You're so good with him.

I can't thank you enough.

I mean, kids are smart.

They know when people genuinely care about them, and you do.

You're exactly what he needs right now.

>> Hope: Well, Douglas is a very special little boy, and, on some

level, he's [Chuckles] exactly what I need.

I'm sorry. I don't -- I don't want to lay all this on you.

>> Thomas: You can talk to me about anything.

You know that.

>> Hope: I just -- I keep expecting this hole in my heart

to get smaller, but it doesn't.

You know, I miss Beth so much, and, um...

you know, when Steffy was here with the girls, it helped a

little, especially Phoebe.

I-I felt peace when I was able to hold her, but I also felt a

tremendous amount of guilt.

>> Thomas: Guilt?

>> Hope: For keeping Liam away from his daughters, and, yes, I

know that Phoebe isn't biologically his own, but she's

still Kelly's little sister, and they both should have a father,

and I'm keeping him apart from them, and I just --

I don't know.

That's why I told -- >> Thomas: What?

>> Hope: I told Liam that he should be with Steffy and the

girls -- you know, be a family.

I even tried to give Liam his wedding ring back, but he

assured me that his place is here with me.

But I still can't help feeling selfish.

I don't know. Is that crazy?

>> Thomas: No.

I think you're right.

>> Liam: I mean, I don't want Hope to feel pressured, but I

don't want to, like, pull back too much, either.

>> Wyatt: Hey, dude, it's okay.

>> Liam: I can't believe I'm talking to you guys about this.

>> Sally: Hey, look, you're giving Hope the respect and

space that she deserves.

>> Wyatt: Hope probably just needs a little more time.

>> Liam: Ugh. I'm trying.

I'm trying to give her that and I'm trying to be open and honest

about my feelings.

>> Wyatt: You guys are obviously talking about stuff.

>> Liam: We talk about Beth, obviously, and our loss and our

grief, but we also talk about Phoebe and Kelly.

We -- We -- We even talk about Flo, but at this point, it just

feels like we're -- I don't know -- filling in the space

between us or something.

>> Wyatt: Maybe what you need is a break.

>> Liam: Well, Hope needs a break.

I mean, that's one of the reasons that Steffy took Phoebe

and Kelly away.

I mean...

Hope was kind of getting a little attached, and -- and I

think Steffy thought that maybe Hope would be able to move

forward easier if -- if she and the girls were out of the

picture.

>> Wyatt: Right.

>> Sally: Yeah. Look, I mean, that's a really nice thought,

doing what's best for Hope, but what about you?

>> Wyatt: Mm.

>> Sally: I mean, your daughter is an ocean away.

Don't you miss her?

>> Liam: Yeah, I do.

>> Sally: Well, have you ever thought about going to see her?

>> Liam: I need to -- I need to be with Hope.

>> Sally: Hope doesn't want you to go?

>> Liam: [ Chuckling ] Believe me, Hope wants me to go.

>> Sally: Okay.

Then what's stopping you?

>> Wyatt: Yeah.

>> Sally: I mean, look, I don't -- I don't mean to be

insensitive, but there was a time when...

you loved Steffy.

You know?

I mean, you guys had Kelly, and then she adopted Phoebe.

They're your family, too.

>> Liam: Yeah, they are.

>> Sally: So maybe Hope has a point.

Maybe you should go see them.

>> Thomas: Let me clarify.

I-I don't think you're being selfish, but I understand why

you feel that way.

>> Hope: But you agree, though, that Liam should be with Steffy?

>> Thomas: I don't want to seem like I'm just defending my

sister.

>> Hope: [ Chuckles ] Well, I wouldn't blame you for it.

>> Thomas: Look...

Steffy is a force.

If anyone can be a single mom and raise two kids on their own,

she can.

And she's got Amelia and Mom to help.

But...

I remember when she was expecting Kelly...

and the plans that they made and...

how excited they were.

I don't know if I should be telling you this.

>> Hope: No. No. No.

I want you to be honest with me.

>> Thomas: Kelly and Phoebe will have a great life with Steffy,

uh...

but growing up without a dad -- it's not the same.

I mean, our families were fractured at times.

I didn't want that for Douglas.

That's why I went to New York, to be with Caroline, and we

weren't a couple.

We were a team.

And it sounds like that's what you want with Kelly and Phoebe.

>> Hope: Yes. Yes, I do.

I mean, that is -- That's exactly what I want.

>> Thomas: Hope, that's not selfish at all.

You're -- You're the opposite of that.

You're -- You're generous -- with your time and with your

heart.

I've seen that firsthand...

not just how you've been there for Douglas but how you've been

there for me.

>> Liam: I mean, I can't -- I can't just, like, jump on a

plane and go.

Hope needs me.

>> Sally: Is that what she said?

>> Liam: Well, no.

She said -- She said I should go, but that's -- that's not

what she really needs.

>> Sally: I feel like Hope knows herself pretty well.

>> Wyatt: Mm-hmm.

>> Liam: But...

I love Hope.

I'm -- I'm committed to her.

>> Sally: Yes, but you also have a commitment to Steffy.

She's the mother of your child.

>> Liam: And I love her, too, obviously, you know?

Like, I always will.

But I'm trying to do the right thing here, and -- and, more and

more, I don't know what that looks like.

I want Hope to get better.

I also want to see my girls.

I know...

Phoebe is not really my girl, but...

you know, I do miss her, and...

God, I mean, even when Steffy just put her in my arms for the

first time, it was like -- [ Imitates explosion ]

It was like this instant connection.

I mean, I was looking down at her, and I just -- I wanted to

say, "Hey, you, I love you.

You're my daughter."

Like, that -- Like, that's what I wanted to say.

So -- So, yeah, I guess I do kind of feel like I'm father to

both Kelly and Phoebe, and I miss them a lot.

But -- But the problem is, no matter what I do, I'm letting

someone down, you know?

Steffy, Hope, Kelly, Phoebe -- someone.

>> Wyatt: [ Sighs ] I'm sorry, man.

I-I had no idea that you were struggling like this.

>> Sally: But none of this is a secret to Hope, is it?

She sees all these feelings churning inside of you, and

that's why she told you to go.

>> Liam: I know...

our love is strong...

and yet you hear stories about what a tragedy like this can do

to a couple.

But I'm gonna fight it, and I'm not gonna give up.

>> Thomas: You've been dealing with so much, Hope.

>> Hope: Please don't tell me that I need to focus on myself

more.

>> Thomas: No.

[ Chuckles ] No, that's not you.

Your focus is always on other people, bringing good to the

world, which you've done for me, for Douglas,

for Hope for the Future.

Actually, I've -- I've been meaning to talk to you about

that.

Since Thorne left, your -- your line hasn't really had a

designer.

I've been working on some sketches, and I thought maybe --

>> Hope: I'd love to see them.

>> Thomas: Well, I know you're just easing back into work.

>> Hope: Well, it was crazy of me to think that I could just

pick right back up where I left off, so...

>> Thomas: But you're trying, and that's inspiring.

Hope, I want to see you happy and fulfilled in your life.

I want that for myself.

Maybe we can help each other.

>> Hope: Well, I do have some ideas and things I'd like to do,

and I've -- I've been trying to go to the office more, although,

obviously, I'm not back full-time yet, but I-I really do

appreciate you thinking of me.

>> Thomas: I'm always thinking of you, Hope.

After all you've done for Douglas [Chuckles] how could I

not?

You find something cool out there?

>> Douglas: No.

>> Hope: Did something happen?

>> Douglas: I remembered, um, that time I-I thought I saw Mom.

>> Hope: Yeah. You were outside playing, and you felt like you

saw her?

>> Thomas: Did remembering it make you sad?

I'm sorry, bud.

>> Douglas: Mommy's in Heaven.

>> Thomas: Yes, she is.

And she's looking down and watching over you.

Mommy will always love you, okay?

And I know it's not the same.

I know that you wish that she was here, that -- that she could

hold your hand and read you stories, tuck you in at night.

Maybe someday there will be another woman in our lives,

someone who can look after you like you remember.
