Original subtitles

Ms. Schwarz is suspected of

to have committed a crime.

Her mother was murdered.

Where were you at the time mentioned? - We were all here.

She lied. She was not in Possenhofen at the time of the crime.

I got the opportunity to become Minister of Justice.

Ludwig suggests to me

that I would marry the Prime Minister's daughter.

Marry her.

I still have one request.

Don't ride.

(Georg) You can't win against me.

You want to take away my family's home, why?

That's none of your business.

Ludwig has a dark side to him.

He won't make you happy.

I haven't received an answer from you yet.

I don't know what you're talking about.

You asked me to check on your mother.

This morning she was at the cemetery.

But not at your father's grave.

(Sisi) I want to know what kind of grave this is.

Give me back our race.

*rolling thunder*

*Music*

*rolling thunder*

*rolling thunder*

I would like to change clothes.

(Georg) An anchor?

Have you ever been to the sea?

I always want to.

Once across, to America.

Why are you never?

I don't know.

Maybe it's too far from home.

*rolling thunder*

It must have been hard for Losing you, Possenhofen.

I felt for years after we moved out

kept secretly sneaking back into the castle.

At some point it got me Your father caught.

And? Did he stretch your ears?

No. Not your father. On the contrary.

From then on he always left the washhouse door open for me.

I miss him.

I understand that.

If that's how you feel about him...

...why did you take the lock from him?

He legally acquired it from your family.

My father had no choice, than to sell,

and your father took advantage of that.

*Music*

My father was different than yours.

He was a chamberlain for the princes in the area.

A dutiful, ambitious man.

His greatest happiness was probably

that he met my mother.

She never cared about wealth or titles.

When she was doing well, she charmed the whole family.

And if she wasn't feeling well?

What did she have?

A heavy heart.

Sometimes from now on.

It was like a light suddenly going out.

My father bought Possenhofen for them.

The light there, the trees, the water.

She loved it.

It protects them from their demons, she once said.

(Georg as a child) Mom, we're back.

Guess what I brought you.

(Georg) But her grief was stronger,

and one day it pulled her heart to the depths.

*Music*

I'm sorry, what you had to experience.

I hid something in the castle back then,

to protect her from her demons.

What?

Oh, just a boy's play.

Where did you hide it?

Up in the hallway, between the 2 stairs.

There was a panel loose back then.

But it has definitely been renovated long ago.

What is?

Possenhofen also means a lot to me.

Since my father died,

The demons seem to be back.

*Music*

Do you want to go?

I can understand that you don't want to compete against me,

but I can't accept that.

(sighs)

Do you really want to ride this race against me?

Yes!

Then that's how it should be.

*Music*

*Music*

Good morning

Where is Sophie Charlotte?

She locked herself in again.

What is that?

This, mother, is a personal letter.

From?

By Katharina Maillinger, Daughter of the Prime Minister.

You know her from the opera.

I'm going to propose to her today.

I know how you feel.

But sometimes we can let go of

ours Don't let feelings deceive you.

Yes, you are very good at that.

As a young girl...

...I met a man at your aunt's

wedding, who meant the world to me.

Dom Miguel. From Portugal.

He asked for my hand in marriage while he was still in Vienna.

But you didn't let your feelings deceive you?

On the contrary: I was head over heels in love with him.

But my father rejected his request.

Because Dom Miguel started a rebellion against his father, the king,

instigated.

4 years later, Dom Miguel himself was crowned king

and immediately renewed his application.

But you refused?

I would never have done that.

But...

His letter came in 4 days,

after I said yes to your father.

At first I didn't have any big feelings for Max.

But our love has been able to grow steadily over the years

and therefore kept until the end.

I am very grateful for that.

To your father.

*Music*

*distant conversations*

He was certainly smaller than dad, or?

A little smaller.

A wonderful dancer...

Your Highness, where... - Shh.

Where were you then? - Stroll.

At this time?

Why not?

Count Grünne asked about you. He awaits you in the stables.

Don't you want to take another bath?

* horse neighing *

*Music*

Stop!

Stop!

The stagecoach doesn't stop on the way.

Next in 4 hours. - Damn, stop!

Damned.

*Music*

Stop!

Ho.

What is a pretty girl doing alone in the forest early in the morning?

The pretty girl wants to go to Munich.

Something needs to be clarified.

Then it's probably important.

Come on.

And come on, you two, let's go. Hua.

*Music*

This was added to the grave.

It is the grave of a small child.

What kind of child was that?

It could be a child to have been your mother.

But why didn't she ever tell us about it?

Maybe she didn't want to share her pain.

I should have left it alone.

Your mother won't find out anything.

Your Highness, I know You are the first to share

your mother's pain, losing a child understands.

But she may be involved

deeper than the police know.

This shoe print was next to the

Body of Adele Schwarz found, size 39.

Does a stable master wear such fine shoes?

What stands out is this Notch on back left heel.

This should allow us to identify the owner.

And I spoke to the coachman.

He dropped your mother off at Adele's house shortly before the crime.

Maybe she was blackmailed by Adele Schwarz?

That would give her a motive.

I can't believe my mother would do something like that.

Max wouldn't be the 1st Duke, the...

I suspect Your mother had frayed nerves.

Who knows what happened between the two women?

Linda's mother was shot at close range.

* rumble *

Do you want me to investigate this further?

No.

Please look for the best lawyer you can find in Bavaria.

He should help you, to get Linda out of this.

As you wish, Your Highness.

*Music*

*Music*

(Wilhelmine) You called for me, your highness?

I would like to set up a telegram.

It's supposed to go to Vienna today.

Of course, Your Highness. I'll get the writing materials.

"Dear sister, you once warned me

every intrigue has its price.

In the last few days I have had to learn

how right you were about that.

Even if it means betraying my daughter,

I don't see any other way,

than to write you the truth about what Sisi is doing."

*Music*

If you would please wait, Duchess.

I'll inform the king.

Can you take me to him straight away?

King Ludwig is busy Duchess.

I'll see what I can do.

*Peacock screech*

*Music*

Duke?

Your Excellency.

What are the flowers for? - For your daughter.

(Katharina) Father, who is there?

I'm sorry, your honor,

that I am only now accepting your invitation.

I hope you've thought about what you want.

I have that.

(grumbles)

(sighs)

*Peacock screech*

What are you doing, if I walk through here?

The king is certainly proud of you,

how you guard him so speechless.

*Music*

You guys are really tough guys.

Don't swallow.

What? - This is chewing gum.

The latest invention from America.

It's better not to swallow it.

Rather?

Chew.

There is a being of flesh and blood living within you.

I wait in vain,

the servant won't take me to the king, right?

(clears throat)

(quiet) down stairs, 2nd door on the left, down the portico.

The window outside is usually ajar.

You didn't get it from us.

(he clears his throat)

(he clears his throat) A coat.

*Music*

(Ludovika) Wilhelmine? (Wilhelmine) Yes, ma'am?

Did Sophie Charlotte show up?

Sorry, your room door is still locked.

*Music*

*Music*

"I am strong omnipotent Ruler by the grace of God.

Pure power flows in my veins."

"I am the sun and the light and the victory over the darkness."

*Music*

*Footsteps approaching*

(King Ludwig) I can't deal with it,

that's too much, far too much.

(sighs)

Your Majesty, this Duchess has been waiting for hours.

Yes, you've already told me that 5 times.

Your Highness, this poor young lady.

Can't I at least tell her something?

How obtuse can you be?

This naive, stupid thing!

(Servant) Then should I keep them waiting?

Yes, hopefully she will give up at some point.

Yes, your majesty.

Stop! - Yes, your highness?

Was anyone in my chambers?

(Servant) But no, Your Highness.

*Music*

I can't explain this, Your Highness.

You know full well that no one is allowed to enter this room without me!

Yes, Your Highness.

You don't have to show up for work tomorrow!

Your Highness, I beg you...

Disappear! - Yes, Your Highness.

The servant is not to blame.

Her?

Did you really mean it like that?

What?

What did you just say? About me?

No. What did I say?

Why are you keeping me waiting? - Because I'm very busy.

So busy that you have forgotten me?

What do you want, Duchess?

An answer.

On what? - You know that exactly.

You have no idea how many people meet me every day

ask any questions and want to have answers to that.

You will have to be patient like everyone else.

Because I mean nothing to you like everyone else?

Don't forget, who stands before you, Duchess.

I don't owe you an answer.

*Music*

*Door is closed*

*Music*

Sisi, are you okay? - Yes. It's all ok.

You rode again.

May I ask why?

The race is canceled after all.

Mom, this Friday afternoon, when Linda's mother was murdered,

where were you?

I was at the cemetery.

Can anyone attest to this?

No. That's why I didn't tell the police.

*Music*

Your Highness, a message from Possenhofen.

Thanks.

(Ludovika) "Dear sister, you once warned me

Every intrigue has its price."

*Music*

Message from Possenhofen.

*Music*

(Henriette) Louis, what are you up to? (Louis) See what?

How come?

Wait, carefully.

Stand still.

Here.

Slow.

Louis, tell me what you're up to, I hate surprises.

Yes I know.

Stand here.

Voila.

Where are we? - In your new apartment.

As a married public figure

I will no longer simply be with the most beautiful and greatest

and most famous singer in Munich can come and go.

That's why we'll meet here from now on.

This is the salon, but we can

always set it up differently.

As you like.

And this...

...is the bedroom.

You're well on your way, to do all honor to your father.

Yes, you're right.

Thanks.

Gladly.

The Council has scheduled my election as Minister for next week.

You will win this election, Mr. Minister.

And this...

This will be our wicked secret.

*Music*

I found these in my mother's room.

I want you to secure them for me.

Nobody is allowed to find her.

Should I destroy them for you?

These shoes are proof that your mother was at the crime scene.

And they could exonerate Linda.

I have to think about it.

But not for too long.

A stable hand testified,

that your father gave Linda a pistol.

The caliber corresponds exactly to that that stuck in Adele's head.

The weapon has disappeared without a trace.

Your Highness, Avalon would be ready.

Give me some more time.

(Stable boy) We have shod the irons for sandy ground.

Then let's see

whether Avalon can compete with the times of Pastorius.

(Avalon snorts)

*Music*

* bell ringing *

(Avalon neighs)

*Music*

(Esterhazy) What a start.

*Music*

Go ahead, Avalon.

(Avalon neighs)

You promised me never to get on a horse again!

It's my responsibility.

You are no longer in your senses, Sisi.

Did you want to get into a saddle at the Oktoberfest race?

If I don't ride this race, I'm losing my home.

You are the Empress of Austria!

What about my family?

Your family? Are you talking about your husband and children?

Prepare everything.

The Empress and I are traveling back to Vienna as quickly as possible!

*Music*

Have you betrayed me?

How could you?

I fight for our family, for our home,

and you stab me in the back.

What are you hiding? What are you afraid of?

I know you were with Adele that day

and that it is your footprint that the police found in the blood.

What weighs so heavy that you are ready

to sacrifice our home?

I didn't kill that woman.

You don't need to know anything more.

What about Linda?

She lost her mother and is innocently in prison.

How can you be responsible for that?

I didn't kill that woman.

*Music*

Good.

I will now return to Vienna with Franz.

Against my will.

Do the right thing. Otherwise my sister will pay the price.

Maybe even with her life.

*Music*

(George) “Dear Lord Jesus, please protect this house

and all its inhabitants from the demons.

This soldier will help you with that.

May no misfortune ever happen here. Amen."

*Music*

I'm sorry, that I have to leave you alone.

Do not worry.

I will find us a new home. Somehow.

You will make the right decision. Also for you.

But first you win the election.

Yes.

Don't let it get you down, okay?

Neither do you.

You always have a place in Vienna.

I'll miss you.

Same to you.

*Music*

*Music*

(Sisi) "Georg Basselet, if you read these lines,

I'm on my way back to Vienna.

The corset, which you have sworn off,

closes tightly around me again.

And I'm afraid I don't have the courage to do it

to free myself from it.

The only consolation what remains to me is

that my homeland falls into the hands of someone,

who cares about her as much as she does to me."

(Louis) "Henriette Mendel shines in the Munich opera."

What are you doing?

Nothing for the first time in days.

And why all dressed up in your dress uniform?

My election as Minister of Justice is coming up.

I have sorted the men in order of preference.

*Music*

(Fists) Gentlemen, we have gathered today,

to vote on it, whether Duke Ludwig Wilhelm in Bavaria

can succeed me as Minister of Justice.

will agree.
