Greetings, Your Majesty.

- Rise. - Thank you, Your Majesty.

Bai Yue, what is this all about?

Please forgive my presumption, Your Majesty.

I have advised you several times

about the Witch Queen.

Today, I had to bring the people

into the palace

to let you hear the voice of the people.

Kill the Witch Queen! Cleanse the court!

Bai Yue,

I do not believe the rumors that the Witch Queen is a demon.

Do not bring this up again.

Your Majesty,

today I performed a ritual.

Our ancestor's spirit appeared

and told us

that the floods in Nanzhao are caused by a snake demon,

and that snake demon

is the Witch Queen.

I am not lying.

Everyone present saw it with their own eyes.

- We saw it. - Yes, we all saw it.

- The Witch Queen is a demon. - Yes, she is.

She is a demoness!

Your Majesty,

the idea

of the Witch Queen being a snake demon is absurd.

The Witch Queen is the Sacred Lady of our Witch Moon Sect.

She can't be a demon.

Please discern loyalty and truth,

and do not let villains spew nonsense here.

- Bai Yue! - Mr. Shi.

Bai Yue,

what is this?

Please, Your Majesty, punish me.

If it could save Nanzhao

and the people from flooding,

I am willing to give my life.

Please, Your Majesty,

depose the Witch Queen, eliminate the demon,

and save Nanzhao.

Your Majesty,

please decide now.

What do you all think?

Shouldn't the King decide now?

This...

Speak!

Your Majesty, please decide now.

This...

Kill the Witch Queen! Cleanse the court!

Your Majesty.

Your Majesty,

I am not a demon.

Qing'er,

I believe you.

You keep saying you are not a demon.

In front of the King and all the officials,

you should answer truthfully.

What do you really look like?

Are you half-human, half-snake?

Yes or no?

Yes.

Your Majesty,

I am indeed different from ordinary people,

as I am a descendant of Nuwa.

I am not a snake demon.

The floods in Nanzhao are not caused by me.

But before this,

the Witch Queen never mentioned she was a descendant of Nuwa.

This is clearly deceiving the King

and the people.

Your Majesty,

do not trust the words of a demoness.

Your Majesty, please

decide now.

Your Majesty, please decide now.

Your Majesty, please decide now.

In my opinion,

the union of the Witch Queen and the Witch King

is part of the Witch Moon Sect's sinister plan

to control Nanzhao.

That's not necessarily true.

For hundreds of years,

the Witch Moon Sect and the Moon Worship Sect have been at odds.

The Witch Queen might have been wrongly accused.

Right?

Exactly, young man. You are very sensible.

Of course.

Who are you?

Looks quite good.

This smell is too foul.

Don't fuss over this. Let's hurry and leave.

Go, go, go!

Depose the Witch Queen! Eliminate the demon!

Depose the Witch Queen!

- Father, Mother. - Eliminate the demon! Depose the Witch Queen!

- Eliminate the demon! - Ling'er.

Are you alright?

Father, why are you treating Mother this way?

Ling'er, let me explain.

Father,

my mother is not a demon.

I don't believe it, and you shouldn't either.

They...

They are all bad people,

all wanting to harm my mother.

Ling'er,

your father does not believe them,

and I will be fine.

Go to the harem and find your grandmother.

I'm not going anywhere.

I want to stay with you.

I want to protect you.

Depose the Witch Queen! Eliminate the demon!

- Your Majesty. - Depose the Witch Queen! Eliminate the demon!

Please make a decision.

Depose the Witch Queen! Eliminate the demon!

Someone,

take the Witch Queen to the dungeon.

Your Majesty, how can a mere dungeon

hold a demoness?

The demoness should be executed immediately.

Depose the Witch Queen! Eliminate the demon!

By my command, lock up the Witch Queen.

I respectfully obey Your Majesty's command.

I respectfully obey Your Majesty's command.

Bai Yue, any objections?

I

obey the command.

Someone!

Here!

Father, don't!

Mother, don't!

Mother, don't go!

Mr. Shi,

escort the Princess back to her palace.

Yes.

Your Highness,

please come with me.

I don't want to.

Ling'er.

I won't.

Ling'er, be good.

I won't listen.

- I want to stay with you. - Mr. Shi,

please take care of her.

I...

I don't want to. I just want to stay with you.

- Let's go. - Your Highness, hurry up.

- Hurry up. - Mother!

Mother!

Don't!

Mother!

Don't! Don't!

Mother!

Mother!

Let's go.

(Cangling Gate)

Very spirited.

Walk this way, this way.

Hurry. The Witch King has summoned us to the grand hall.

Let's go.

Just now in the grand hall, these two ministers

merely rebutted the Chief of the Moon Worship Sect

and he killed them right in front of the Witch King.

The other ministers dared not say a word.

In my opinion, Chief is quite popular with the people.

Not just these ministers,

but even the Witch King has to give him some respect.

The Witch Queen is so beautiful.

I didn't expect her to be a demoness.

Now that the Witch King has imprisoned her,

it seems like the floods will soon recede.

Hopefully, that's the case.

- Sorry. - You two, watch where you're going.

Sorry, sorry, sorry.

What are you doing?

Exactly.

They say the Witch Queen has been imprisoned.

I'm going to find the Witch Queen now.

I feel the Imperial Palace is heavily laden with demonic energy,

but it seems not to originate from the dungeon.

Could it be that the Witch Queen has really been framed?

Here's what we'll do.

You go to the dungeon,

and I'll check out the location of the demon.

This outfit really stinks.

I have to take it off.

Your Highness.

You are...

I...

I'm an old acquaintance of Li Sansi.

I'm here to save you.

Li Sansi?

I heard that Li Sansi and his wife came to Nanzhao not long ago.

I specifically came to inquire about their whereabouts.

You bear such a resemblance to him.

Please tell me

what happened to Li Sansi and his wife.

It's my fault.

What?

The demonic presence is so strong.

It seems the demon is hiding here.

Demon!

Months ago,

I met Li Sansi and his wife sneaking into the Imperial Palace.

They came looking for the poisonous dragon's gall

to cure the severely poisoned constable,

Huangfu Ying.

What happened next?

At that time, Bai Yue was searching everywhere for the Five Spiritual Beads,

intending to use their power to control the demon

and conquer the world.

I didn't want him to succeed,

so I gave my Water Spiritual Bead

to Li Sansi and his wife.

Then why is it rumored everywhere

that the Lis stole the Water Spiritual Bead?

After they left,

Bai Yue spread the news

that they sneaked into the Imperial Palace

and stole Nanzhao's treasure, the Water Spiritual Bead,

bringing floods to Nanzhao,

and petitioned the Witch King to pursue and capture them relentlessly.

Were they then

killed by the Shadowless Poison?

Your Highness,

I wish to know

if the Shadowless Poison

could only be made by you.

The Shadowless Poison

was indeed my unique creation.

But it was later stolen.

Only after learning that Mr. and Mrs. Li were poisoned by Shadowless Poison

did I realize

it was Bai Yue's plan to kill two birds with one stone.

I also secretly investigated,

but afterward, there was no further news of them.

The whereabouts of the Water Spiritual Bead

are also unknown.

It seems

they might still be alive.

Why didn't you reveal everything at that time?

Bai Yue has been plotting for years,

well-entrenched in Nanzhao's court and society.

Even if I told the truth,

no one would believe me.

It was my fault.

My selfishness

implicated them.

They are not thieves.

They are not thieves.

Sir,

Li Sansi and his wife are benefactors to me

and to Nanzhao.

If you can find them,

please convey my apologies to them.

They are heroes.

Yes.

They are true heroes.

Sir,

I have an unreasonable request,

and I hope you will grant it.

Your Highness, please get up.

I, Li Xiaoyao, will surely help you.

What did you say your name was?

Little demon,

quite impressive.

It seems you are not ordinary.

No.

I need to find a way.

I am Li Xiaoyao.

Li Sansi

is my father.

The Lis told me

they have a son named Li Xiaoyao,

but he's about nine years old.

Well...

This is a long story.

I can only tell you

that it was Goddess Nuwa who guided me here.

I will explain the details to you later.

Let's get out of here first.

Whether I leave now or not isn't important.

What's most important now

is that I have a favor

to ask of you.

Your Highness, please tell me.

It concerns my daughter.

I ask you to save her.

Goddess Nuwa sent me back to the world ten years ago,

perhaps because she wanted me to change Ling'er's fate

so she could escape the destiny of a Nuwa descendant.

Mr. Li,

right now,

no one can protect Ling'er.

If she

stays in Nanzhao,

I fear Bai Yue

will harm her.

Your Majesty, rest assured.

I will do everything in my power to ensure the Princess's safety

and prevent any harm from coming to her.

I'll take you both out of here.

No.

My escape

is exactly what Bai Yue wants

and turns me into the so-called traitorous demoness

they claim I am.

Bai Yue is prudent,

cunning,

and most importantly, ambitious.

I cannot leave Nanzhao at this critical time,

or the nation

might face great peril.

They have already abandoned you,

yet you still think of them.

Perhaps this is our destiny.

There's a demon! A demon!

A demon! There's a demon!

What demon are you talking about?

It's the demon that's been causing chaos in Nanzhao.

The one in the water deep in the dungeon.

Oh, no.

It's the Water Demon Beast.

Water Demon Beast?

The demon I met just now.

The Water Demon Beast is a beast from ancient times,

sealed by the Goddess Nuwa.

It can summon floods

and control minds,

a power beyond ordinary humans.

Only descendants of Nuwa can seal it again.

I'm heading to the dungeon now

to calm the Water Demon Beast.

My Heavenly Snake Cane is still in the Imperial Palace.

Please fetch it for me.

I'll go. I'll go.

If you meet Mr. Shi

guarding the inner palace, tell him

that Qing'er has come to pick a lotus flower.

Okay, okay.

Show Ling'er this,

and she will go with you.

Ling'er.

You're bad.

- Don't come any closer! - Ling'er...

Your Highness,

rest assured.

I'm not a bad person.

- I am... - You're all bad people!

You're bad!

You all want to harm my mother!

Your Highness, listen to me.

It was your mother who sent me to get you out.

Liar! The people who just took me out

said the same.

But...

You're all bad people!

- Bad people! - Okay, okay.

Go!

- You go! - I'll keep my distance.

Don't be nervous.

Grandmother.

Grandmother?

Grandmother,

Bai Yue has revived the Water Demon Beast, wreaking havoc on Nanzhao.

To ensure the Princess's safety,

I am tasked by the Witch Queen

to take the Princess away.

Her Highness said,

if you see this hairpin,

you'll understand.

Okay.

We'll go with you.

Your Highness,

let's go.

Grandma, are we going to see Mother?

Your Highness,

we are...

That is right.

We are going to see your mother.

Alright.

Then let's hurry.

I miss my mother so much.

Good.

Let's go.

Order from the Chief!

Capture the Princess alive

to force the demon queen to comply.

Quickly! Hurry!

- Order from the Chief! - Hurry up!

- Sir, where is my mother? - Capture the Princess alive!

Your Highness, rest assured. I will make sure you see your mother.

Quickly! Hurry!

Look over there!

Order from the Chief!

- Capture the Princess! - Hurry!

Hurry!

Stop! Who are you?

Chase them!

Catch them!

Grandma!

Hurry! Get them!

Get on the phoenix!

- Get on the phoenix now! - Hurry!

Grandma,

I don't want to leave Nanzhao.

I want my mother.

It's okay, Your Highness.

I'm here. It's okay.

Sir, where are we going?

We need to leave Nanzhao.

The further, the better.

I don't want to leave Nanzhao.

I want my mother.

Grandma.

Your Highness, don't be afraid.

Don't be afraid, Your Highness.

Sir,

didn't you say you were taking me to see my mother?

Where is she?

I...

Your Highness...

What's that?

That's...

That's...

That's a huge firework.

Ling'er,

listen to me,

this phoenix was sent by your mother to pick you up.

She said it would take you to a place first,

and she would come

to find you very soon.

Really?

Yes.

Your Highness,

it's true.

Rest assured. No matter what,

I will always be by your side.

Ling'er,

she also told me to tell you

not to cry

when she's not around.

Be happy,

or she'll be sad too.

Okay.

I won't cry.

I'll listen to Mother.

I don't want her to be sad.

No.

I don't know where the Witch Queen

wants this phoenix to take them.

Although I don't know where it goes,

there's one place it definitely can't go.

Quick, quick!

Hurry! Hurry!

Grandma.

Let's go. Let's go.

- Go. - I'm okay.

Grandma, you'll be okay.

(Shanshen Temple) Grandma.

(Shanshen Temple)

Come in, come in.

- Over there. - This way.

Slow down, slow down.

You're bleeding nonstop.

I'll go find some hemostatic herbs, and be right back.

Thank you.

Sir,

I don't know what to call you.

I am...

I'm Li Xiaoyao.

Good.

Good.

Thank you, Xiaoyao.

You're welcome.

Ling'er.

Grandma.

I'm fine.

Ling'er.

Ling'er, don't cry.

I'll make something for you.

Cherry candy.

Thank you, Xiaoyao.

Xiaoyao.

(When Ling'er was on Fairy Island,)

(the cherry candy she recognized)

(was indeed given by me.)

This is...

Thank you.

Sir, what was that seal just now?

What you saw

was the sealing technique

left by the descendants of Goddess Nuwa.

The Witch Queen

used her life

to suppress the Water Demon Beast.

Could it be that the descendants of Nuwa

really cannot escape their fate?

Ling'er...

What about Ling'er?

I promised her

I would take her to see her mother,

but now...

Xiaoyao.

Xiaoyao,

Grandma is asking for you.

Okay.

Okay.

You go in first.

I'll check if anyone followed us.

Mr. Li,

thank you for your rescue.

Please do me a favor.

Grandmother, please tell me.

You take this handkerchief

to the riverbank.

If someone recognizes it,

tell her

I'm bringing Qing'er...

I'm bringing Qing'er's daughter

to meet Lady Lingyue.

Lady Lingyue?

The Water Moon Palace.

Mr. Li,

you know the Water Moon Palace?

I've heard of it.

But what if

I can't find Lady Lingyue?

Mr. Li, don't worry.

This handkerchief

is marked by Lady Lingyue.

As long as it's near a waterway,

Lady Lingyue will sense it.

It really is you, Xiaoyao.

It's time to fulfill the promise you made to the Princess back then.

Ling'er!

Grandma.

Grandma!

If I deliver this handkerchief

to Lady Lingyue,

then Ling'er and Grandmother

will surely go with Lady Lingyue to Fairy Island.

No.

I've already missed one opportunity to save the Witch Queen.

I can't let Ling'er go to Fairy Island this time.

I can't let the tragedy happen again.

How can there be a handkerchief?

(Li Xiaoyao, nine years old)

This handkerchief is quite pretty.

Auntie would surely like it.

Next time she beats me,

I'll give this to her,

and she surely won't hit me anymore.

Uncle Zhang, give me a fish.

Xiaoyao,

look at what time it is.

They've all been sold out.

Really?

Auntie is going to beat me again.

Uncle Zhang, please look again.

Even a small one will do.

You go ask him.

He's been fishing all day.

Though the fish aren't big,

they're enough

to save your bottom.

Go on.

Uncle,

could you sell me one of your fish?

My fish are not for sale,

only for trade.

Let's see what you have

that might trade for my fish.

My treasure is in a far, far away place.

How about this handkerchief?

Does it work?

Okay.

I really like this handkerchief.

I'll trade a fish for it.

Here you go.

Little kid,

tell me.

Where did you get this handkerchief?

You little devil.

I'll give you another one.

I found it in the woods next to the Shanshen Temple.

I see.

Little kid, you better go home.

Mr. Li,

you came back so soon?

Grandmother,

I'm sorry.

I threw away

- that handkerchief. - What...

What did you say?

I did it for Ling'er's good.

Mr. Li,

I don't understand what you mean.

You can't go to the Water Moon Palace,

and you can't go to Fairy Island,

because it's not good for Ling'er,

you, and the Water Moon Palace.

Mr. Li,

how do you know?

Well...

Moon Worshippers

will soon follow you to Fairy Island.

I can't explain in detail,

but you must trust me.

I won't harm you.

Mr. Li,

I believe you.

But now,

the world is so vast,

yet where is there a place for us?

Anyway, you can go anywhere.

Just don't go to Fairy Island.

I will find you a new place,

a safer place.

Grandmother,

I'm begging you. Please promise me.

Please promise me.

Okay.

I promise you.

Good.

Thank you, Grandmother.

Thank you.

I will definitely find

a safer place for you.

Fairy Island is that safer place.
