Luojiao. Luojiao.

- A'nu. - Here.

How are you feeling?

I'm fine now.

I said before that our master is miraculous at reviving the dying.

There's no poison she can't neutralize.

Last night, Master and I went to the Sacred Woods

and collected Dragon's Saliva Grass.

She's preparing it for you right now.

Once Tang Yu's wounds heal,

we'll head back to Nanzhao to settle accounts with Bai Yue.

Luojiao,

have you seen Tang Yu?

I can't find him anywhere.

I...

I haven't seen him.

In that case, you should rest here.

I'll go look for him.

Tang Yu has left.

He has left?

Where did he go?

He

No, that can't be.

That can't be.

He promised he wouldn't leave me.

A'nu,

come here.

I gave the Golden Silkworm King

to Tang Yu,

and it required the blood from his heart

to create the Golden Silkworm Venom.

At that time,

you were close to death.

Only the Golden Silkworm Venom could save your life,

but this Golden Silkworm Venom

has no cure in the world.

Tang Yu...

He didn't want you to see him suffer and die.

That's why he left.

It can't be true.

It can't be true.

Master said she could cure it.

A'nu,

there's only one person in this world who can cure the Golden Silkworm Venom,

and it's not me.

Master,

tell me who it is.

I'll go find him.

Bai Yue.

Bai Yue?

Tang Yu is a good person.

He sacrificed his life

for you,

and he would die in agony.

No, that can't be true.

That can't be true.

Luojiao, please wake up.

Your Majesty,

I just received news

that General Gai Luojiao has been killed.

What did you say?

Who killed General Gai?

It's said to be someone named Tang Yu.

Impossible.

Who is Tang Yu?

Your Majesty, Tang Yu

is a disciple of the Witch Moon Sect and the guard of the young master.

Is it really the doing of your sect?

I shall return to investigate the truth.

Capture Tang Yu now.

Once the truth is known,

behead him in public.

Yes.

Your Majesty,

General Gai was highly esteemed.

The soldiers may not be easily calmed.

For prudence,

it's best to have them return to the frontier soon.

Later, someone of high standing

should go on your behalf to properly appease them.

You speak wisely.

I'll leave it to you then.

Yes.

We've almost turned everything over.

These jars are all empty.

There isn't the Demon-Locking Jar, right?

Right. We can't continue this.

Could someone actually be pickling vegetables here?

Who is it?

Disturbing my peace.

What is this thing?

You're the thing.

Sir,

I see you possess an aura of wisdom

and the demeanor of a scholar,

you surely are versed in both ancient and modern knowledge,

well-read, and learned.

You boy, you're so good at flattering.

Indeed,

I have perused the classics and histories throughout my life,

studied the works of many philosophers.

In terms of the depth

and broadness of knowledge,

even the gods and Buddhas of heaven

might not match me.

You do me justice

by calling me Book Immortal.

I apologize for my oversight,

Mr. Book Immortal.

That's more like it.

I like the sound of that.

Mr. Book Immortal,

do you know

where the new girl captured in the Demon-Locking Tower

is being held?

You think you can just ask me questions

and I must answer?

What do we do now?

Well...

Sir,

how about I make a bet with you?

I'll pose a question,

and if you can't answer it,

you must tell us where Ling'er is.

How could I not answer your question?

This foolish Book Immortal

is likely to fall into the trap.

It's an object that can't be turned into anything.

It comes before guests arrive.

When guests arrive, it leaves,

while it comes when guests leave.

What is it?

What is it, then?

Can't answer, can you?

Don't tell me.

Let me think.

What could it be?

Which book mentions this?

This...

It's a rag.

It comes before guests arrive...

Indeed.

- That's right. - Indeed.

Give me another. One more.

This truly shows a fondness for the new and boredom with the old,

change upon seeing different girls,

fickleness

capriciousness

and lust.

Your ability to stump me

doesn't mean

that you can answer the question I pose.

Alright.

Then you ask.

If I can answer,

then you respond to my earlier question.

Okay.

Mencius once said,

"Fish is what I desire.

Bear's paw is also what I desire.

Since I can't have both,

I give up fish and take bear's paw."

How would you choose?

There's no answer to this.

I knew you couldn't answer.

What kind of question is this?

If fish comes first, I choose fish,

If the bear's paw comes first, I choose the bear's paw.

Be careful.

It's you again!

Truly a sweet couple.

Go to the underworld and become a pair of ghostly lovers.

Go.

Why are there so many corpses?

Li Xiaoyao,

you can't escape.

Give me the Spiritual Beads now.

Stop this futile struggle.

Li Xiaoyao!

Why is there a magical zone from Mount Shu

in this Demon-Locking Tower?

Li Xiaoyao,

are you alright?

How are you?

If you keep your voice down, I'll be fine.

You're hurt like this, yet still arguing with me?

Li Xiaoyao!

I have unmatched martial skills,

how could there be...

Li Xiaoyao, Li Xiaoyao, what's wrong?

Wake up, Li Xiaoyao.

Wan'er.

Wan'er,

did you find a way

to get Xiaoyao to leave?

Not yet,

but we don't need to anymore.

What are you saying?

What's wrong with him?

A despicable Taoist fallen into the demonic path

is chasing him.

I'm going to save him.

Ling'er!

Ling'er,

Wan'er,

I beg you.

Please save Xiaoyao.

I beg you.

Is this worth it?

All I want

Absurd!

Have you ever considered

that your blindly impulsive love

is also a type of selfishness?

To love someone

is to be selfless.

Fine.

Since you like Li Xiaoyao so much,

I'll make sure he stays by your side forever.

Wan'er,

what are you going to do?

Wan'er!

Wan'er!

Li Xiaoyao,

We still need to find Ling'er.

Ling'er.

Ling'er, is that you? Ling'er?

Li Xiaoyao, it's Ling'er.

Li Xiaoyao, wake up!

Ling'er, we are here.

Ling'er.

You're not Ling'er.

Who are you?

Of course, a demon in the Demon-Locking Tower.

You imitated Ling'er's voice to deceive me here.

What do you want?

What have you done with Ling'er?

Don't talk nonsense.

I'm a friend of Ling'er's.

I wouldn't harm her.

Little girl,

I'm also a friend of Ling'er's.

My name is Lin Yueru.

Where is Ling'er now?

You'd better worry about yourself

Don't go.

Ling'er!

You...

Who are you?

Are you Li Xiaoyao?

You know me?

Ling'er asked me to find you.

She's nearby.

Really? You know where Ling'er is?

Take me to her now.

Did you just see another girl?

No.

She must have gone to find water for you.

After all, you just fainted.

This is the Sword Tomb.

Demons cannot enter here.

It's very safe.

You don't have to worry about her.

Miss.

You must have been taking care

of Ling'er all this time.

Stop talking.

You'll know everything once you see Ling'er.

Miss.

Come with me.

Book Immortal?

Why are you here?

I was afraid you'd wander aimlessly

and never find your way out of here.

Book Immortal,

you must know how to leave this place, right?

Follow me.

Wait.

You just gave us a riddle

and didn't tell us where Ling'er is,

but now you suddenly want to help?

Are you planning a trap

like that girl?

Miss Lin, you misunderstand me.

I just want you to stop Wan'er

from making a grave mistake.

You know the girl who deceived me?

I watched her grow up.

She lost her parents at birth

and grew up alone in this Demon-Locking Tower.

Another lie.

If she lost her parents at birth,

how did she grow up by herself as an infant?

Wan'er's mother, Yue Rouxia,

was the daughter of the Demon King.

Wan'er is thus a half-demon.

Wan'er's father, Jiang Che,

was the most outstanding disciple of Mount Shu at that time.

So, they were the ones mentioned

by the Drunken Sword Immortal.

You know about this?

I know a bit.

What happened then?

The King of Prison coveted Yue Rouxia's demonic powers,

and injured her in an attack.

Jiang Che fought to protect his wife and child

and sustained serious injuries.

After giving birth to Wan'er,

Yue Rouxia transferred

all her demonic powers to Wan'er

and then died from exhaustion.

Jiang Che, to protect his daughter,

left Tiangang Will

around her.

Later,

he fell

into the demonic path.

Even if they would die,

they still want

to be with their beloved.

Wan'er doesn't understand these things.

Though protected by her parents' powers,

she lost them young

and spent her days in the Demon-Locking Tower,

hiding amongst demons

and living a lonely

and fearful life.

I took her

under my wing

and taught her to read and write.

When she read about parental love in books and asked me,

I hardly dared to tell her much.

I only hinted at her origins.

Unexpectedly,

Wan'er resented her parents.

She hated them

for bringing her into this world

of suffering.

In that case,

why not persuade the girl

and tell her everything?

I've tried

over and over.

I treat her like my own granddaughter,

quite indulgently.

How could she listen to me?

She's quite pitiful.

Miss,

maybe you could reason with her.

Miss, you should leave through the front.

This is the way out.

Miss,

where is Ling'er?

Just over there.

If you pull out that sword,

you can break the illusion in front of you,

and you'll be able to see Ling'er.

Don't dawdle.

Go and save him.

Wan'er wants to use Jiang Che, who fell into the demonic path,

to kill Li Xiaoyao.

What?

Remember to never pull out that sword.

What sword?

Jiang Che's old sword,

the Seven-Star Sword.

Pulling out the sword will break the seal,

and you'll see Ling'er.

What are you doing?

Ling'er isn't here at all.

Who are you really?

I was asked by Ling'er to find you.

Where is my friend?

You're so worried about her.

I knew there was something special between you two.

Enough talk.

Where is she?

I know where she is,

and I know where Ling'er is too.

But you can only

save one of them.

Which one would that be?

"I can't have both."

So, the Book Immortal

was with you on this.

So what?

Just pull out this sword,

and I'll tell you where they are.

Where are they, exactly?

You fickle heartbreaker!

You don't deserve Ling'er's affection.

She's so worried about you,

yet your heart is all for that girl.

You don't deserve to know Ling'er's whereabouts.

As for that savage girl,

you can find her in the underworld.

Don't run!

This is the Mount Shu Swordsmanship.

Those who hurt Wan'er will die.

Those who trespass on the forbidden area will die.

Wan'er wants to lead Li Xiaoyao deep into the Sword Tomb,

not just to have the demonic Jiang Che

kill him,

but also to let Li Xiaoyao

pull out that sword.

That is a divine weapon

that demons cannot touch.

Only a human can pull it out.

Once the Seven-Star Sword is drawn,

Jiang Che's soul

will dissipate.

She wants to kill her own father?

Exactly.

Wan'er

resents her parents.

Her mother has long departed,

so she channels all her resentment

towards her demonic father.

Book Immortal, where are you?

Book Immortal!

Wan'er.

You dare to betray me?

Wan'er, you can't keep making mistakes.

I don't need you to manage my affairs.

Fine.

Fine, fine.

Where's Li Xiaoyao?

That heartless man is already dead.

But

you'll soon see him again.

He'd be waiting for you on the road to the underworld.

I know why you want to kill us.

It's for Ling'er.

Not entirely foolish.

But you better not harm Li Xiaoyao.

If he dies,

Ling'er will be devastated,

just like your parents.

Shut up.

You smooth talker.

Look at you,

trying to steal Ling'er's beloved.

I didn't come here for Li Xiaoyao.

Don't tell me it's for Ling'er.

You can hardly believe your own lies.

You've lived in the Tower your whole life,

so you don't understand

that besides romantic love,

there's also parental love

and friendship among friends.

Enough.

What romantic love? Parental love? Friendship?

These are all selfish desires

that disregard others' feelings.

If all emotions

are selfish desires

as you say,

then why are you helping Ling'er like this?

Because Ling'er is different.

She doesn't think of herself.

She's the only selfless one I've ever seen.

Then what about your parents?

They were the most selfish people in the world,

not worthy of being parents at all!

Miss Wan'er,

I can understand why you resent your parents,

but you must know

that nothing in life is certain,

especially emotions.

When you truly fall in love with someone,

it's uncontrollable.

If it harms others,

all you can do is try to fix it,

because there are no "ifs" in this world.

What's done is done,

and there's no room for regrets.

So,

once you involve yourself in emotions,

you must be prepared to pay the price.

You've said so much.

Now, are you willing

to pay your price?

If I die,

will you spare Li Xiaoyao?

For Ling'er,

I can.

Will you help them leave the Tower?

Fine.

I'll do everything I can.

If they can't leave,

they can spend their lives together here,

which isn't the worst outcome.

Fine.

I agree.

Aren't you afraid of death?

If my life

can save my friends,

it's worth it.

Why are you so foolish,

just like Ling'er?

This isn't worth it at all.

Like water to a drinker,

one knows best whether it's cold or warm.

Only I know

if it is worth it or not

Back then,

someone sacrificed their life to save you.

Why do you think

they did it?

You know the Immortal Cloud Technique?

There's a disciple named Jiang Che

at Mount Shu.

Mr. Jiang!

Drunken Immortal Gazing at the Moon Step.

Who are you to Situ Zhong?

The Drunken Sword Immortal taught me the Step.

The Drunken Sword Immortal?

Situ Zhong?

That's right, he's your fellow at Mount Shu.

Right.

That's right.

I'm Jiang Che.

Jiang Che.

That's right. I'm Jiang Che.

Jiang Che.

Sir, your consciousness still exists.

Mr. Situ would be delighted to know.

Delighted?

I betrayed Mount Shu,

killed my fellow disciples,

caused my wife's death,

and implicated my daughter.

She's alone in the world because of me.

I am truly deserving of death.

Deserving of death!

Deserving of death!

Deserving of death!

Li Xiaoyao, are you alright?

Savage girl, how about you?

I'm fine.

Jiang Che,

since you've harmed so many people,

why are they no longer here,

while you're still clinging to life?

Wan'er.

Wan'er!

It's my fault.

That's right.

It's all

your fault!

Wan'er,

it's my fault,

not your mother's.

You left after her.

You never once considered me.

As parents,

you gave birth to me but didn't raise me.

It means you don't love me at all.

Why bring me into this world

to suffer all the misfortunes?

Yes.

Wan'er,

it's my fault.

It's me who wronged you.

You...

You're just selfish!

Miss Wan'er,

you said your father didn't love you,

but do you know

you're protected by the Tiangang Will of Mount Shu?

Impossible!

Only the Tiangang Will of Mount Shu

can protect you

from the King of Prison.

The Book Immortal told me

your mother was hurt by the King of Prison.

To protect you,

your mother exhausted her demonic power inherited from the Demon King,

and your father fell into the demonic path

before he left the Tiangang Will at the Sword Tomb.

Impossible!

That can't be.

I don't believe you.

Miss Wan'er,

we all have parents.

Perhaps we never met them

from birth

and never experienced their love firsthand.

But as you grow older, you'll understand

that for parents,

from the moment their child is born,

it becomes the most important part of their lives.

I never had parents since childhood,

but I always believed

that since they couldn't be with me,

there must have been reasons and difficulties.

You've told me enough,

but still, all parents are the same in the world.

Ever since I was little,

what I wanted

was never any demonic power,

nor the Tiangang Will.

You forced those upon me,

and I'm giving them all back to you.

Wan'er,

don't!

If the Sword Tomb loses its magical barrier,

I won't be able to protect you anymore.
