so she wasn't really able

to be there, and it wasn't her fault.

his mom got him studio time.

SOBANDE: I had the pleasure of helping Jahseh

get his ideas out

while he was here with us.

It was a rock kind of persona in it.

He had this really cult fan base,

and it really, really grew after that.

Fans of a popular South Florida rapper

are gathering at a vigil to remember him.

and robbed him at gunpoint.

At this point in the investigation,

the wrong place to commit their crime.

Their video system was very good,

normally given.

I run digital forensics

for the Broward Sheriff's Office

in Fort Lauderdale, Florida,

and I was one of the examiners

on the Onfroy case.

The video, it really tells a story.

MARTINEZ: The surveillance video shows us

Jahseh and his step uncle.

They park their vehicle.

They went inside to shop.

They went inside to shop.

20 minutes later, they exit Riva Motorsports.

And when they try to leave the parking lot,

they are blocked by a dark SUV.

One suspect has a long gun,

the other suspect has a short gun.

The suspects were wearing masks.

They approach the driver's side of the vehicle,

they get into a back-and-forth with Jahseh.

At that point,

the uncle, Mr. Kerr, runs out of the vehicle.

That's when the second armed man

goes around the front passenger seat,

grabs the satchel, which has the money

that he retrieved from Bank of America.

The individual who remained on the driver's side is the one

that ends up shooting the three rounds

into the victim.

And once the three shots were fired,

both gunmen retreat to their vehicle

and flee the scene.

CONCEPTION: When investigators analyze

the footage of the murder,

they're able to see that there are four people--

two shooters and two accomplices

The surveillance footage is

a key piece of evidence in this case.

Investigators can now

clearly see that Jahseh was targeted.

So there was definitely an identifiable

with Broward County, and I was

where Jahseh Onfroy was murdered.

As his celebrity grew,

he got into a few well-documented

social media beefs with

other well-known artists,

one being Drake.

There were talks of a collaboration.

The feud escalated to the point

on social media between

other rappers that were part of the feud

who were known to be part of Drake's crew.

Like 600 Breezy, whose real name is Antonio King,

made a statement stating that he was in Miami

looking for Triple X,

and that he was armed.

started looking at the possibility,

This is something that has

really stunned fans of XXXTentacion,

a rising star here in South Florida.

Fans began to gather here

right after learning about the shooting

that claimed his life.

MARTINEZ: You're dealing with

a lot of speculation.

You're dealing with people trying to show up to the scene,

'cause everybody wants to be involved.

Celebrity is always going to be more difficult in that sense,

but not from a forensic perspective.

While looking at the surveillance footage

from outside of the store at the crime scene,

you could see the same blue Dodge Journey

that was at the crime scene,

The same vehicle that they used to flee in

immediately after the murder.

And this is a huge break for the case, because

approximately two minutes after

Jahseh walks into the store

And this is extremely important because

we assume that the vehicle is occupied

by the individuals who committed this crime.

while his partner is

They walk around the store,

and then they exit Riva Motorsports.

four people involved in this crime.

And they drove a dark blue Dodge Journey.

If we don't find the offender's vehicle,

it's going to be very difficult

to try to put someone at the crime scene.

chances are that they will find the murderers.

SOBANDE: When Jahseh was taken from us,

the world lost an amazing, amazing, amazing artist.

And in addition to that,

when gunfire erupted this afternoon.

ELLIS: The Parkland shooting

interrupted the nation, but it was definitely personal.

It was right down the street

locating that getaway vehicle,

which is a dark blue Dodge Journey.

On surveillance, the suspect's vehicle's license plate

was not visible.

In the event that a vehicle like this

the tools really would be

what we call BOLOs, which stand for "be on the lookout"

for the officers in that area to

pull over any vehicles that may match that description

and then try to figure out

if they match who they're looking for.

had a surveillance camera directly aiming at the vehicle.

The video not only captured the crash,

but it also showed them leaving the vehicle.

in and of itself, is fairly suspicious.

we only had a dark SUV.

Basically took a shot in the dark of

The investigators were able to retrieve a VIN number

of the vehicle that was involved,

and once they ran that,

they found out that the owner of the vehicle

is a female named Tanisha Clark.

The owner of the vehicle stated that she rented

her vehicle through an app called Turo.

This is a person just, you know, renting their car,

trying to make some money on the side.

CONCEPTION: She stated that she rented it to

an individual named Tony Robinson.

for Dedrick Williams and his friends.

my suspect very quickly.

CONCEPTION: Detectives were able to capture still images

of the two individuals that go inside Riva Motorsports.

When they distribute these

images to the employees there,

they identify one of the subjects

as Dedrick Williams.

ACHILLE: Dedrick had gone somewhere

where he was known. He'd been to Riva before,

and so even the salespeople knew him.

MARTINEZ: The employees were able to confirm that

they purchased a face mask.

CONCEPTION: So, very quickly, detectives

get enough information and probable cause

to get a warrant for the arrest of Dedrick Williams.

He was subsequently arrested and taken into custody.

During the interrogation,

he displayed a calm, relaxed demeanor.

Dedrick was not forthcoming during the questions.

His main purpose, his main goal in the interview

was to throw them off.

Dedrick also, in the interview,

tried to throw off his involvement

and put it on the rap feud.

During the interview,

a search warrant was issued

for the contents

of Dedrick Williams's cell phone.

KEMPVANNEE: So, with Mr. Williams, there was

a lot of good information that came out of his phone.

Probably the most significant was the location data.

not just a GPS signal,

but it also looks at cell towers,

and as the phones

are traveling, they're picking up Wi-Fi locations

around the community.

The phone doesn't even have to connect

So, with Mr. Williams' phone,

we could plot the whole path

from his house to Riva Motorsports.

Then after the murder, again,

location data from the phone,

we could plot them at the crash.

Also, there was evidence on his phone

of things that he wore.

For example, the orange slides,

uh, which were very distinct

because they were very bright, they stood out.

So, we knew, okay, this has to be the right person wearing

this particular item of clothing

because that's who we saw

on surveillance and confirmed

by eyewitness testimony.

CONCEPTION: With all the evidence

pointing to Dedrick Williams' involvement

in this investigation,

And Dedrick throws up a nickname.

And the nickname he says is "Fatboy."

MARTINEZ: With access to

Dedrick Williams' cell phone,

a phone number to Fatboy,

whose legal name is Robert Allen.

CONCEPTION: Because Robert Allen had a history of charges

related to identity fraud,

he had a mug shot on file with the police database.

the same two individuals

who exit the blue Dodge Journey...

...and walked into the store.

He was seen on surveillance video

shortly before the rapper was gunned down.

to finding these other two perpetrators.

fans gathered for Jahseh's memorial.

if you open up your phone and you take a picture,

there's metadata within that picture,

and it can tell me when the picture was taken.

So, with that extraction of Mr. Boatwright's

cell phone, they were able to capture

and Trayvon Newsome fanning out the $100 bills,

but also just photographs of him

really celebrating his newfound wealth.

They're creating these videos just a few hours,

uh, after Mr. Onfroy is murdered.

and the sad thing about it is these guys know it,

getting arrested and charged for the same thing,

Look at this. This was hours

after Triple X was murdered.

They don't care who gets hurt.

They just want to take.

We were asking for the assistance of the public

to help locate Robert Allen and Trayvon Newsome.

CONCEPTION: Authorities got a tip

from Crime Stoppers that Robert Allen

was at his sister's place of residence.

They followed up on the tip, found him there,

and took him into custody.

Even without Mr. Allen's phone,

there was a lot of good information that came out

of Mr. Boatwright and Mr. Williams' phones.

So, with Mr. Boatwright's phone, using advanced GPS,

we can see when he gets in the car.

We can see that Mr. Williams is setting up at his house.

His phone is pinging there. Then we see them meet.

You can see them drive directly to Riva Motorsports,

uh, and you can see that they're there

uh, and you can see that they're there

for the entire time together.

ACHILLE: In addition to that, Michael Boatwright's phone

had data in it that showed that it was connected

via Bluetooth to the suspect car

during the time of the homicide.

So, just before the homicide,

it connected at somewhere around 3:20,

and then it didn't disconnect until after the homicide,

somewhere around 4:30.

KEMPVANNEE: And then, after the murder, with the advanced GPS,

you can clearly see that they're still traveling together

Then we see them crash.

I was able to take the location information

that was found in the phone,

and it perfectly matched

the video from the Driftwood Apartments.

Based on information obtained through the extraction

of the data on the cell phones, detectives were able

to file a search warrant for the residence

of Dedrick Williams,

and Michael Boatwright.

When the search warrant was executed

there were a couple things that were found

that had evidentiary value to the homicide investigation.

So that connected and confirmed

that he was, in fact, the person that was there that day.

there was a live cartridge found in his home.

And it matched the same caliber as the bullet casings

we knew had killed the victim.

found at the crime scene, but it was the same manufacturer.

The live round that was found in Dedrick Williams' home

was extremely important.

Because although it wasn't fired,

a firearm cycled that live round,

possibly due to a misfire,

and, in the process, created those fingerprint

markings on the casings that could be compared

to the casings that were located on the crime scene.

and we would be turning each and rotating

which is exactly what happened here.

So we can confidently say

was cycled through the same weapon that was

used to kill Jahseh Onfroy.

The warrant that was served on the home

of Michael Boatwright also provided investigators

with a couple pieces of evidence that were of value.

ACHILLE: Just in front of Michael Boatwright's home

was an inoperable car.

Hidden in the trunk, under the wheel well of the car,

was a backpack that contained

a treasure trove of evidence connected to this homicide.

Within that backpack was

the two neoprene masks

that were worn by the suspects.

Investigators also found a box of .22 caliber ammo,

which was the same manufacture and caliber

from inside of that package.

ACHILLE: And so when you just do the math,

were, at that point, together and that they had

And I think that that was the mindset of the defendants

from the beginning.

ACHILLE: I asked Robert Allen

you know, what they deemed as a wealthy victim,

whether it was for a car or their belongings,

In August of 2022,

Robert Allen formally pled guilty

Being in the courtroom during the trial

was definitely overwhelming.

that doesn't change your loss.

Jahseh was not spared in his final moments,

and I hope the court finds it appropriate

to not spare any of the lives of the defendants.

SOBANDE: We all had to bear this terrible loss,
