=Episode 26=

This has exhausted me completely.

I wonder if I owed you in the past life.

No, no.

I'm already like this. Please don't rain.

(Xingtang Temple) Is there anyone here?

Is there anyone here?

Is there anyone here?

Could someone please open the door?

Is there anyone here?

(Xingtang Temple) Hang in there a bit longer.

Sir,

could you let us in to shelter from the rain?

We need a place to stay for the night.

You may come in,

but it's not very convenient

for this lady to stay in the temple.

Sir, my friend is sick and got caught in the rain.

Please make an exception. Please.

Amitabha Buddha.

Then come in.

Thank you, sir.

A'nu,

I'm sorry.

Tang Yu,

you've finally returned.

A'nu,

how are you?

I'm fine. It's good that you're back.

You...

Don't cry.

Look, I'm really fine.

Master miraculously healed me

with the Golden Silkworm King,

otherwise, I would have been dead.

A'nu,

it's all my fault.

What does it have to do with you?

It's all because of that ruthless Bai Yue.

That old man Mr. Shi...

Alright.

Drink your medicine.

No.

It's so bitter.

You can have orange peel candy after you take the medicine.

It's really sweet.

Drink your medicine.

You traitor.

I thought you came to see me,

but it turns out you're my master's envoy.

The Sacred Maid had no choice,

so...

Put down the medicine. I have something to ask you.

What is it?

Are you

keeping something from me?

Thank you, Master, for granting me spiritual power.

I am willing to search for the other Spiritual Beads for you.

Please let me out of the tower.

Master,

searching for the Spiritual Beads is crucial.

I dare not delay.

Please guide me on how to leave the tower.

By accepting my magical power,

you will become half-human and half-demon.

No demon

can leave this Demon-Locking Tower.

This was your choice.

From now on,

you will stay with me,

guarding this Demon-Locking Tower.

What?

Master!

Master!

Master!

(Xingtang Temple)

I'm going to kill you!

I'm going to kill you!

This poison shows no signs of weakening.

What should I do?

Water...

Water...

You were just now shouting to kill,

and now you've got a fever?

Water...

Hot water.

- Hot water. - Water...

I'm turning into your maid.

Water.

Water.

Alright, alright.

This water is very hot.

Be careful that it's hot.

- Careful. - No more. No more.

No more.

You're the one asking for water,

and you're the one who's refusing it.

It saves you from making a fuss later.

Why do I always feel

like something's missing?

A'nu,

I...

If you can't remember,

then let me help you recall.

You once said

that a girl about six or seven years old saved you.

How could such a small girl

save you?

Are you making it up?

A'nu,

that was ten years ago.

- Ten years ago? - At that time...

I thought I would never find her again.

Isn't she now about sixteen or seventeen?

Definitely a liar.

You're still laughing.

Alright then, go find her.

Go find your beloved,

and play the leaf whistle to her every day.

A'nu,

that girl I've been thinking about

is right in front of me now.

What now? What in front of you?

What are you saying?

That girl I've been thinking about

is you.

Me?

You're not just

saying this to make me

take my medicine, are you?

When you saved me back then,

you hummed a little tune.

Only you know that tune.

What's wrong?

Nothing.

Tang Yu, come help me prepare the medicine.

Alright.

You haven't finished it.

A'nu,

you rest well for now.

Tang Yu...

(Xingtang Temple)

Miss!

- Stop! - Amitabha Buddha.

- Amitabha Buddha. - I'm going to kill you!

Miss! Miss!

I'm going to kill you!

- I'm going to kill you! - Amitabha Buddha.

I'm going to kill you!

Savage girl, why are you...

Kill you!

Sir! Sir! Get out of the way!

- Savage girl, are you ever going to stop? - Come back here!

- Sir, what's wrong with your friend? - Stop!

- I'm going to kill you! - That's right.

I'm going to kill you!

Amitabha Buddha.

We have to do this.

Sir,

is there a skilled physician nearby?

May I ask

what illness has she contracted?

She's not ill.

She's been poisoned

by someone.

If it's poison,

then perhaps Master Juewu can detoxify her.

Who is Master Juewu?

Could you please introduce us to him?

Master.

Master,

please save my friend.

Tell me. What happened?

My friend has been poisoned by Purple Poppy.

Purple Poppy, huh?

How many days has it been?

Three days.

Three days?

Then there's no need to treat it.

Master, please think of something...

There must be a way.

What's going on?

It's all my fault for not protecting you well,

letting you get poisoned by that despicable Taoist priest.

I will find a way to cure you.

Even if you remain like this,

I won't leave you.

Silly rat,

who needs your care?

Why are you panicking?

You...

You're alright?

I'm fine, yeah.

Just let me go.

That's not right.

You savage girl,

you're never this polite.

Am I usually harsh to you?

Of course.

You think you're gentle?

If it weren't for me tying you up,

you'd be biting people.

Li Xiaoyao!

It was you who tied me up.

Let me go now, or I'll break your legs.

This tone.

This attitude.

You're really okay?

Hurry up.

So, when the master said no need for treatment,

it meant the Purple Poppy would heal by itself after three days.

What are you muttering?

Let me untie you.

What have you done to me?

What have I done to you?

Ever since you were poisoned by the Purple Poppy,

your temperament changed drastically, attacking anyone you see.

I am the real victim here.

Nonsense.

Pretending to be mad before, now acting dumb.

Your tricks really are endless.

Say that again.

I'll say it again,

so what?

Nothing.

Li Xiaoyao!

(Buddha)

Li Xiaoyao, stop right there!

Are you okay now or still ill?

Move!

Move aside!

Madam, are you alright?

Auntie?

Mrs. Liu?

Yueru.

What are you doing here?

Mr. Li, how come you're here?

Auntie,

did you come here to pray for blessings?

What's going on? What happened?

Yueru,

your cousin...

He's sick.

Auntie, don't panic.

What illness does my cousin have?

Miss Yueru, you may not know

ever since Mr. Liu returned to the capital, he's contracted a strange illness.

Mr. and Mrs. Liu have sought all the famous physicians

but to no avail.

The young master's condition worsens by the day.

Madam has prayed

in every temple in the capital,

hoping for his early recovery.

How is my cousin now?

His wife is taking care of him.

His wife?

Scholar got married?

That's enough.

Let's not talk about that.

Jinyuan would be so happy

to know you're here.

Maybe seeing you

will help him recover faster.

Yueru, will you come back with me now?

Okay.

Let's go.

It's only been a few days,

and Scholar got married.

What?

Are you jealous?

Of course, I'm jealous.

Being as smart as he is,

he must have found a virtuous and good girl,

not like some people.

Who are you calling "some people"?

Don't do this.

Save yourself the heartache.

Okay, okay, okay.

Do you still remember

what you said in the room before?

I didn't say anything.

You did.

You said you wouldn't leave me.

I heard it all.

When Master Juewu said you didn't need treatment,

I thought you were going to be crazy forever.

When I get the chance,

I'll definitely go to Mount Shu

to have a word with those Taoist priests.

The Wind Spiritual Bead is still in that Taoist priest's possession.

What should we do next?

First, let's go to the capital to see Scholar,

and then we'll go to Mount Shu to retrieve the Wind Spiritual Bead.

Do you know how to get to Mount Shu?

Let's find my master and ask him to take us to Mount Shu.

The Drunken Sword Immortal?

Right.

That's as good as not saying anything.

He's like a roaming immortal.

Finding him is even harder than going to Mount Shu.

That might not be true.

We might find him in the capital this time.

The capital?

Right.

The capital.

Greetings, Lady of the South.

Here's your subordinate, Gai Luojiao.

General Gai, please rise.

These ten years,

you've worked hard.

I am at fault.

I failed to protect the Queen's statue

and also caused the young master to be injured.

Please punish me.

General Gai, you need not blame yourself.

We all fell into Bai Yue's trap.

He used Mr. Shi

and the rumor of reviving the Queen

to lure the Princess to break the magical barrier,

and then took the opportunity to destroy the statue.

Bai Yue has spies all over the court.

The Nanzhao court

is under his control.

This is why

we are meeting here.

We should meet with the Witch King

to expose Bai Yue's conspiracy

and ask the Witch King to order

the eradication of the Moon Worship Sect.

By the way,

how is A'nu?

After being treated by the Sacred Maid,

A'nu is fine now.

My Lady,

won't you go and see A'nu?

No.

A'nu is mischievous.

If she sees me,

she will definitely want to return with us to Nanzhao.

Nanzhao is fraught with crises.

A'nu is the only hope of the Witch Moon Sect.

We cannot endanger her again.

Understood.

Chief.

Gui Ying.

Yes.

Come look.

Yes.

This...

(Water Demon Beast) This is...

This is the Water Demon Beast

ten years ago.

Chief.

The Water Demon Beast was sealed by the demon queen back then.

May it now be reborn?

You are the only one

who has seen this little creature.

Anyone else would surely have been killed without question.

Yes, Chief.

Right, Chief,

I've learned

that Gai Luojiao, along with Tang Yu and the Lady of the South's daughter,

has already returned to Nanzhao.

Now, there is no one from our side with them.

Just in case,

shall we send someone to follow them?

I need them to return to Nanzhao.

They can help me complete my great cause.

Chief,

I have contacted Tang Yu.

Should I ask him...

He will return.

(Lizhao Residence)

Auntie,

what exactly is wrong with Jinyuan?

After you left,

he fell ill and has not recovered.

Your uncle invited famous physicians,

even summoned imperial physicians from the palace,

but...

But the cause of the illness remains undiscovered.

How could this be?

Some say he's been cursed.

Just at that time,

Jinyuan met Cai Yi,

and they were quite taken with each other,

so we thought

perhaps getting married

might benefit him.

Did that help?

Though Jinyuan is not getting better,

Cai Yi

is truly devoted to Jinyuan.

Lately, with many affairs at the border,

your uncle is rarely home due to being summoned to the palace.

I have to go to many temples to pray for blessings.

Fortunately, she's taking good care of Jinyuan,

so I can be a bit relieved.

Mrs. Liu,

where is Scholar now?

Ever since they got married,

Cai Yi said

Jinyuan should rest in a quiet place.

They moved to the chamber in the back garden.

Can we go see him now?

Go ahead.

Your cousin loves flowers?

Maybe.

Look.

(Cai Yi)

This is...

Miss Yueru,

this is Mrs. Cai.

Nice to meet you, Yi.

You must be Yueru.

Jinyuan often talks about you.

I always wondered

what kind of woman would be worthy of my cousin.

You're indeed as beautiful as they say.

Yueru,

I often hear Jinyuan speak of you,

saying you're brave and yet charming.

Now I've seen you today,

and you're just as I imagined.

Oh no, Yi, you're flattering me.

Just call me Cai Yi.

That won't do. You're my sister-in-law after all.

It's late. Where are you going?

The Forest of Toxic Herbs in the back mountain.

I was just about to go there to pick some fresh herbs for Jinyuan.

Picking herbs?

Mrs. Cai is familiar with plants and herbs.

Some herbs in the medicine for the young master

need to be picked at night.

These days,

Mrs. Cai goes to pick them every evening herself.

That's a lot of work.

This garden full of peonies

was also planted by Mrs. Cai herself,

just to add some vitality for the young master

while he recuperates.

Yi,

you're really good to Jinyuan.

I haven't done much.

I just hope that Jinyuan

can recover soon.

This must be Mr. Li, right?

Mrs. Cai, nice to meet you.

Mr. Li,

Jinyuan also often mentions you,

calling you a great hero

with formidable martial skills.

Scholar really has an eye

for people.

Stop flattering yourself.

Exactly as Jinyuan said.

What did he say?

He said you two

are a pair of handsome and beautiful lovers.

Don't listen to his nonsense.

Let's go see him now.

Yi,

if you go to the back mountain to pick herbs,

tell me. I can protect you.

Okay.

Next time I go, I will definitely tell you.

Jinyuan.

Jinyuan.

You guys...

What are you doing here?

Take it slow.

Jinyuan, you...

Jinyuan,

I'll let you talk.

- I'll go prepare the medicine. - Alright.

Please, sit down.

Come here.

Sit down, so we can have a chat.

Come.

Come, come.

Jinyuan,

how did you suddenly become so ill?

It's not serious.

Ever since we parted,

somehow,

my body has become weaker.

Scholar,

I remember on our last trip back,

we didn't encounter any evil beings.

It's alright.

Ever since I started taking the medicine Yi prepares,

I've been better.

Yi is really good to you.

How come it's just you guys who came back?

Did you find Miss Ling'er?

Who are you talking about?

Indeed, you're a descendant of Nuwa.

With the power of Nuwa,

combined with the Spiritual Bead containing the essence of heaven and earth,

great things can be achieved.

The power of Nuwa truly has such strength?

The power of Nuwa?

It's you.

How did you become like this?

It's all because of you.

Your name Bao Pu indicates living plainly and embracing simplicity

with fewer personal desires.

It was your own greed that has harmed you.

Detestable!

If I absorb the power of Nuwa,

even King of Prison would have to respect me.

You can't escape.

I...

Maybe it's because

I've been bedridden for so long.

I remembered the wrong person.

Tang Yu...

Have Tang Yu and A'nu returned to Nanzhao?

A'nu was injured.

Tang Yu accompanied her back to Nanzhao to heal.

Li Xiaoyao and I continued to search for the Spiritual Beads.

I see.

Then I understand.

Scholar,

the person you just mentioned...

Sir,

Mrs. Liu asked Miss Lin and Mr. Li to come for a meal.

Then you should go.

My mother will be worried if you don't.

Jinyuan, you should rest well.

Alright.

- Rest well, okay? - Alright.

Come out.

Little Stone.

What exactly is going on with those two?

When I asked earlier,

why did they have no recollection of Miss Ling'er?

If it wasn't for your hint just now,

I might have pressed on.

How come it's just you guys who came back?

Did you find Miss Ling'er?

Who are you talking about?

Mr. Liu, please don't mention Miss Fairy.

I'll explain more to you later.

Maybe it's because I've been bedridden for so long.

I remembered the wrong person.

Mr. Liu,

you seem deeply poisoned.

Your condition looks quite serious.

I'm fine.

What exactly is going on?

Miss Fairy asked me to use the Jade Buddha Magical Formation

to erase all their memories related to her.

Why is that?

That's right.

Miss Ling'er

has always been worried

that she might

burden everyone.

After leaving twice before,

Li and Yueru

both went after her.

It seems this time,

she's made up her mind.

Where is Miss Ling'er now?

Miss Fairy...

She returned to Nanzhao.

She asked me to tell you

that she's glad to have known you

and thank you for your help.

She said you should not worry about her,

that she would take good care of herself,

and that she would be alright.

She...

She...

She hopes Xiaoyao

and Yueru can be together.

It's also the best outcome for everyone.

So,

please,

don't mention Miss Fairy

in front of them.

Too much of anything

is harmful.

Destiny must

run its course naturally.

Whether it's meant to be or not,

there is always a reason.

I understand

Miss Ling'er's decision.

Thank you, Mr. Liu.

Miss Ling'er,

you're too considerate.

Your Majesty,

the Lady of the South is asking to meet you.

What is she doing here?

I don't know.

She has brought someone with her.

It seems to be General Gai Luojiao.

General Gai? Let them in.

Yes.

Greetings, Your Majesty.

No need for formalities.

General Gai,

where have you been these ten years?

I've been guarding the Queen's statue.

Did you see Mr. Shi?

Mr. Shi

was killed by Bai Yue.

Is that true?

Absolutely true.

I guarded the Queen's statue for ten years,

never to think

now it would be destroyed by the traitor Bai Yue.

He also harmed the Princess

and killed Mr. Shi.

Bai Yue's treacherous purpose is clear for all to see.

Ling'er?

Is it really my Ling'er?

- It is. - Where is Ling'er now?

Your Majesty,

after the battle at Yunmeng Marsh,

there were heavy casualties.

Fortunately, with your protection,

Princess Ling'er, although injured by Bai Yue,

was not seriously harmed.

Unfortunately, Lady of the South's daughter was seriously injured.

Princess Ling'er, concerned about Nanzhao,

took A'nu's place

and continued on her journey to find the Spiritual Beads,

to pray for rain and blessings for Nanzhao.

Lady of the South, how is A'nu now?

Your Majesty, thank you for your concern.

A'nu, under the care of the Sacred Maid of the Witch Moon Sect,

has recovered considerably.

A'nu is loyal and devoted.

Once she returns to Nanzhao,

I will surely reward her generously.

Thank you, Your Majesty.

Send someone to the Central Plains immediately

to find the Princess.

I cannot afford to lose Ling'er again.

- Hurry! - Yes.

However, Your Majesty,

this incident proves

that the news that the Princess

could revive the Queen through her statue

was concocted by Bai Yue.

His aim was to use Mr. Shi

to find Princess Ling'er and the Queen's statue,

to destroy the statue.

Bai Yue's actions

surely have a bigger conspiracy behind them.

Your Majesty,

we must be cautious.

Your Majesty,

please order the capture of Bai Yue

and the eradication of his sect.

The Moon Worship Sect is deep-rooted and widespread.

This matter requires further discussion.

The urgent task is to find Princess Ling'er.

I am tired.

You may all leave now.

Yes.

My Lady,

please forgive my frankness.

Bai Yue's treason

and his myriad misdeeds are clear for all to see.

Why does His Majesty not punish him?

His Majesty's evident hesitation towards Bai Yue

suggests that this is far more complex than we imagined.

My Lady,

I have a vague feeling

that there's an unspeakable secret hidden within this palace.
