=Episode 21=

General Gai,

when exactly did you

find my mother's statue?

Your Highness, ten years ago, after learning about the changes in Nanzhao,

the Lady of the South and I started searching for your whereabouts.

Unfortunately,

we didn't find you.

Later, we heard about the Queen's statue

appearing in Yunmeng Marsh,

so we came here to investigate carefully.

Upon inspection, it was indeed true,

so we decided to stay.

Then,

could the disappearance of Yunmeng Marsh's waterways

be related to my mother's statue?

It's very likely.

When the water here disappeared,

a magical zone appeared around the Queen's statue,

preventing anyone from approaching.

However, I believe you might be an exception.

General Gai, have you heard about how to revive my mother?

Revive the Queen?

Your Highness, who told you about this?

General Gai,

my people obtained this information after much investigation.

Only the Princess

can revive the Queen.

The Witch King did what he did back then

out of necessity.

He has missed the Witch Queen

and the Princess greatly over the past ten years.

If the Queen could indeed be revived,

it would not only be a fortune for the Witch King

but also a blessing for Nanzhao.

General Gai,

I beg of you.

If it's

really possible to revive my mother,

I have very important questions to ask her.

Alright, I'll take you.

We will set off early tomorrow morning.

Now, everyone should return to their rooms to rest.

Thank you, General Gai.

Is there anyone there?

Could you let us stay for the night?

In this desert,

why is there an inn?

Be careful.

This inn

looks a bit strange.

Go behind me.

This...

My dear guests,

are you stopping to dine or stay?

It really is an inn.

Put away the sword.

Sir,

we are passing by

and wondering if there are any rooms available.

Come in.

Please, come inside.

Please, take a seat inside.

Sir,

it seems your inn doesn't do much business.

This place is remote,

and indeed, not many guests stay over.

Business is just getting by.

Please, have a seat, have a seat.

Given this,

you must have a good memory

of the guests who do stay.

You two

made quite an impression on me.

Nonsense.

Sir,

may I ask

if there was an odd-looking old man

with two young ladies and some men

staying here?

I'm a friend of theirs.

No.

In the past few days, it's only been you two.

We're a bit hungry.

Do you have anything to eat?

What would you like to eat?

Two bowls of noodles without toppings will do.

Wouldn't you want some wine and side dishes

to warm up and relieve the fatigue?

- No need. - Alright then.

We've indeed been tired from traveling these days.

Please serve it quickly.

Coming right up.

Don't you have any experience traveling the martial world?

In this wild and desolate place,

aren't you afraid this is a trap, yet you still want wine?

Let's make peace with being here.

Besides, we neither have wealth nor looks.

What's there to fear?

Ling'er,

I told you Li Xiaoyao would catch up to find you.

Don't avoid him anymore. Go meet him.

Your Highness,

don't forget

that Li Xiaoyao can't go to Nanzhao.

Why can't he go to Nanzhao?

General Gai,

have you heard

my mother

used the Shadowless Poison

to kill Li Sansi and his wife?

What?

That's impossible.

Though the Shadowless Poison is unique to the Queen,

she would never use it to harm others.

You can trust her in this matter.

Your Highness,

you care so much about the Li couple.

Could it be

related to Li Xiaoyao?

They

are Xiaoyao's parents.

Ling'er,

I finally understand why you left.

A'nu, on this matter,

Mr. Shi is right.

Many in Nanzhao's court

still despise

the Li couple.

Your Highness,

if you really care about Li Xiaoyao,

it's better not to let him go to Nanzhao.

But we can't stop him.

Even if you avoid him,

he will continue to find you.

Look.

Don't worry.

I've already instructed Panzi.

Here it comes.

The wine and dishes are here.

Enjoy your meal.

Please enjoy.

Sir,

I see your inn is built against the mountain.

May I ask if there are other places to rest within this mountain?

No, no, no.

That's just a barren hill.

Then, please enjoy your meal.

I'll go and prepare the rooms.

Thank you for your trouble.

Thank you.

You better not drink for now.

Then I'll eat the noodles.

Landlord.

Landlord.

The dishes and wine are served,

with lots of drugs.

General Gai...

Your Highness, don't worry.

It'll just make them sleep for a day,

harmless to their health.

After they fall asleep,

have someone help them back to their rooms to rest properly.

Understood.

The noodles are fine.

You can eat them.

Today we have wine and shall be merry.

Tomorrow's worries are for tomorrow.

Got them.

Savage girl,

if Ling'er isn't in Yunmeng Marsh,

you should go back first.

Why should I?

Ling'er is my friend too,

I'm looking for her. What's it to you?

It's the noodles.

Savage girl?

Savage girl?

Xiaoyao.

Ling'er.

Aren't you...

Ling'er,

it's really you, Ling'er.

I've finally found you.

Ling'er.

Ling'er.

Xiaoyao, there are many Nanzhao people here.

It's too dangerous. You must leave.

Come with me.

Mr. Huangfu Ying

already told me

what happened to my parents.

Ling'er,

since no one can explain my parents' death,

I should investigate further to find the truth.

Xiaoyao,

now in Nanzhao,

many people

still hate your parents

to the bone.

They

might harm you.

Ling'er,

now I believe in my parents,

and you believe in your mother.

We should investigate together

to clear their names.

- But I'm still worried. - What joy is there in living,

and what fear in dying?

Ling'er,

if I can't be with you,

being alive

is no different from being dead.

Xiaoyao.

We must face

what we have to face eventually.

At this point,

we have no choice anymore.

We can't back down.

Even if we have to die,

we must make things clear.

Greetings, Chief.

You're back.

It's been three years.

You've done well.

Thank you, Chief.

You may rise.

Yes.

Tang Yu,

what are you thinking?

I just

have some doubts.

Doubts?

For three years,

I ordered you to infiltrate the Witch Moon Sect.

Did I ever ask you to kill or set fires?

No.

You just asked me to pay attention

to whether they had rebellious intentions.

I asked you to secretly monitor Li Xiaoyao and others,

but did I ask you to harm them?

No.

Then your doubts do not exist.

Go back.

Yes.

Chief,

there's one more thing.

Tell me.

Will those people

be harmed tomorrow?

What I mean is

that they aren't bad people.

Am I a bad person?

You're obviously a good person.

What is good?

What is bad?

Those mundane feelings

and simple emotions,

they are the laws of the mortal world.

With these laws,

can we conquer Nanzhao?

Can we rule the masses?

Ten years ago, the Witch Queen stopped me.

Now,

Li Xiaoyao and others

think they can oppose me with just a few beads.

It's utterly delusional.

No one

can stop me from ruling the world.

Whoever dares to be an enemy

of the Moon Worship Sect

will die without a place for burial.

Mr. Shi.

Tang Yu,

where have you just been?

I heard some disturbances outside

and went to check.

What disturbance?

A hawk's cry.

What's unusual about that?

Besides the hawk's cry,

nothing unusual.

Tang Yu,

is what you said true?

Of course, it's true.

The hawk cried so loudly that I heard it too,

so I let him check.

Is there a problem?

Mr. Shi,

Tang Yu has been working tirelessly

for us all this way, without any complaints.

Why are you pressing him here? What are your intentions?

I didn't mean anything by it.

I was just passing by and noticed Tang Yu was missing,

so I asked a few questions.

It concerns the Queen's stone statue.

Being extra cautious is necessary.

You can be cautious,

but you shouldn't be so cautious as to doubt my people.

If you want to doubt someone, doubt your own people.

- My people are trustworthy. - So are mine.

Good then.

- I'm furious. - A'nu.

Why are you here?

I couldn't sleep, so I came to ask you a question.

Come here.

A'nu,

what question do you want to ask me?

The leaf whistle

you always blew before,

was it because of a girl?

A'nu,

she's no longer important to me.

Who exactly is she?

A little girl who once saved my life.

A little girl?

About

six or seven years old.

Then you must not think about her.

I am your young master.

You belong to me.

From now on,

you must only think about me in your heart.

Understood?

A'nu,

no matter what happens tomorrow,

you must take care of yourself.

Tomorrow?

Aren't we all setting off together tomorrow

to find the statue?

With you by my side,

what could happen to me?

A'nu.

A'nu,

if one day,

I...

Are you worried about me?

Fine.

Then let me tell you.

Whether it's tomorrow or every day after,

with you by my side, I'll be safe and sound.

A'nu,

I'm sorry.

Xiaoyao,

why didn't the sleeping drug affect you?

I ate the Five Poison Bead, which neutralizes all poisons.

The sleeping drug has no effect on me.

It stinks.

Li Xiaoyao,

let's go.

This is a trap.

Still not awake,

Miss Lin?

Ling'er.

Ling'er,

we've finally found you.

Yueru,

I'm sorry

for making you worry.

Ling'er,

promise me.

No matter what happens,

never leave us again.

Everything can be solved.

Yueru,

so much has happened

in a moment,

pushing me forward.

Sometimes,

I don't even know what to do.

I'm sorry.

What are you saying?

No matter what misunderstandings

you and Li Xiaoyao encounter,

we can investigate and solve them together.

It is we who will investigate and solve them.

While you, an experienced wanderer, were knocked out,

Ling'er and I have agreed

that from now on, we won't be separated again.

Everyone,

the entrance down here

leads to the underground city towards the Witch Queen's Temple.

General Gai,

let's set off.

This is the underground city.

The path is not easy to navigate.

Everyone, watch your step.

The statue of the Queen is within this magical zone.

A'nu!

A'nu.

Are you alright?

I'm fine.

Luojiao, why is it like this?

Ten years ago,

the Lady of the South and I found the Witch Queen's statue

in this underground city.

We then built a temple for her.

Afterward, Yunmeng Marsh suddenly dried up,

and this magical barrier appeared.

We also tried to pass through,

but touching it

would cause a backlash by its force.

However, it's strange

that the candles in this temple have never gone out.

Maybe,

it's the Queen manifesting her power, waiting for the Princess.

Your Highness,

if what General Gai said is true,

and this magical barrier is set by the Witch Queen's consciousness,

then with your connection with your mother,

this magical barrier should not affect you.

Ling'er.

Xiaoyao,

that's my mother's statue inside.

It should be safe.

Your Highness,

be careful on your own.

Mother,

how can I revive you?

Can you tell me

how I can revive you?

Mother,

what exactly should I do?

How can I revive you?

Mother.

Chief, unexpectedly,

after searching for so many years,

Gai Luojiao was hiding here.

They just left.

The air still carries their scent.

Chief,

all of them have already headed

to the Witch Queen's Temple.

The Witch Queen's temple?

Ling'er has been inside for so long.

Why is it so quiet?

Could something have happened to her?

Since the Princess could pass through the magical barrier,

the previous speculation should be right.

She won't be harmed?

Then I'll look around elsewhere.

Let's go.

Ling'er.

Ling'er!

Ling'er.

Ling'er.

Mother.

Mother.

Mother, where are you, Mother?

Ling'er.

Mother.

Ling'er,

are you my Ling'er?

You're really my Ling'er?

Ling'er, you've grown so much.

Ling'er,

you must have suffered a lot

in these ten years.

No.

I...

I didn't suffer.

Mother, it's okay now.

You've finally been revived.

I'll take you away from here.

Ling'er,

you are now within my consciousness.

My last bit of spiritual power is about to dissipate.

I'll return to the embrace of Nuwa.

Seeing you one last time

leaves me without regrets.

No.

That can't be true.

You won't leave me.

You won't.

You won't.

Ling'er!

There's not much time left.

Listen to me.

Mother, there must be a way.

There must be a way.

There must be a way to prevent you from leaving me.

Ling'er!

Protecting the world's people

is the duty of us,

the descendants of Nuwa.

As for the suffering of the common people,

you must do your utmost to help them.

Mother,

I...

Can I really do it?

Ling'er,

I know

this is a path filled with thorns

and sufferings without returns.

I wish you could escape it.

But we, the descendants of Nuwa,

must face it.

Mother,

I'll try my best.

I beg you.

Please don't leave me.

Ling'er...

No.

Don't.

Don't!

Ling'er, don't be afraid.

I will protect you from the heaven.

No!

Mother?

Mother.

Mother!

Mother!

Ling'er, what happened?

Xiaoyao,

I couldn't revive my mother.

She's gone forever.

Ling'er,

don't worry.

You still have me.

You still have me.

Your Highness,

you just said the Witch Queen has left?

My mother couldn't be revived at all.

Inside the statue,

only her consciousness remained,

but upon seeing me,

it also dissipated.

Could it be

the rumors we heard were false?

Everyone,

now that the magical zone has dissipated,

we must find a way

to transfer or hide

the Queen's statue now.

That's right.

The timing

is just right.
