[Episode 14]

[12 years ago] You made sure to silence the physician, correct?

If this gets out, both of us will be done for.

There is nothing some gold cannot silence.

There is no way.

By chance, did you also record the bribery for the physician?

Of course not.

Your obsession over the ledger is like an illness.

Stuff like that ends up hurting you later.

You worry too much.

Do you think this is a joke right now?

This is about changing the leader of the country.

I already got rid of all of it.

Do not worry.

Aigoo, you came, Your Majesty.

You will be the king once today is over.

Did you receive the approval for the transfer of power?

Everything is going according to the plan.

Please do not worry.

Where will my older brother live once he leaves the palace?

You said you will find him a place, Cheon.

Yes.

I prepared a comfortable place for him.

Everything was decided by the Heavens.

There is no turning back now.

Make a decision for the sake of the country and Prince Eun Seong.

Delaying will not be good for either of us.

How about Prince Eun Seong-

I will take good care of him.

Here ye, His Majesty fainted!

Is anyone out there?

Your Majesty!

You said you would get approval for the transfer of power from him.

But you used poison.

We have the same result.

Your Majesty,

it is now time to think of the country.

Have you not heard from the Royal Guard yet?

No, Your Majesty.

Behave properly.

Lift up your head.

Cheon Jun Hwa,

take Hong Deok Su with you.

Lee Eun Ho,

you were...

Prince Mu Yeong?

We will return to the palace.

Guard him.

Do you not know she could be in danger by being by your side?

You should...

leave now.

He told you to kill everyone here?

You taught me one should not use the sword against

those who do not know how to use it, Teacher.

I only carry out the King's order.

Let us go back, Hong Deok Su.

Hong Deok Su.

Hong Deok Su.

Yes.

It is nothing.

Let us go in.

You should be treated.

Does it hurt a lot?

I am fine as long as you are.

You are not okay.

How did you know I was there?

How about you?

What were you doing there with Prince Mu Yeong?

Did you know...

Lee Eun Ho was Prince Mu Yeong?

Yes.

How...

How could that be?

We exist in a different world than him, Hong Deok Su.

You will get hurt if you stay with someone you should not be with.

It is not too late to move on.

That is the right thing to do.

I heard their families were enemies.

Just like how my father died unjustly,

Lee Eun Ho's family also...

was wronged by Cheon.

And he needed to take revenge.

Cheon did what?

That is why the two of us...

No, let us stop.

It has nothing to do with you.

A soldier came from the palace?

Yes. Although he was not in uniform,

he was highly skilled in martial arts.

He must be the royal guard.

He has dispatched the Royal Guard, whom he has been hiding.

The King must feel desperately cornered.

All right.

It is more fun to attack when they fight back.

How about the ledger?

The fight was already happening when I arrived.

So I could not acquire it.

Where is Hong Deok Su right now?

I heard you were injured.

It is nothing.

Hong Deok Su.

I mean, Hong Jae On's father. I heard he was your old friend.

He was my only friend.

How...

did he pass away?

Why are you asking me about that?

You said Hong Jae On and I were meant to be.

Of course, I want to know about her father.

Hong Jae On's father, Hong Min Shik...

By chance,

did you really...

was killed by Seol Mae Hwa.

Pardon?

Master Innkeeper Seol Mae Hwa?

Twelve years ago that day,

after the incident,

a lot of complicated things happened.

Hong Jae On is well aware of it, too.

She witnessed Seol Mae Hwa stabbing her father.

By the time I ran to him to help,

everything was already over.

I was too late.

You knew Seol Mae Hwa was the culprit.

So, why did you keep her at Yongcheonru?

I did not know until Jae On told me.

However, after I learned about everything,

I could not just let go of it.

That is why...

you got rid of Seol Mae Hwa.

I need your support.

I will be responsible for Hong Jae On from now on.

All right.

What do you want?

Your Majesty.

You are late.

How about the ledger?

Did you find it?

Go on and tell me.

What did you...

hide from me?

Why...

is your name in the ledger?

Hand me the ledger.

I need to check something first.

What are you trying to check?

Twelve years ago,

the former king did not die from a disease.

He was poisoned. Is that what you want to check?

The former king's physician and attendant court lady's names were on the ledger.

Even the receipt for the poison was there.

I will explain it gradually.

Hand me the ledger now.

I know you are aware of...

how evil the Defense Minister and Cheon are.

By chance,

were you and the Defense Minister...

involved in the former king's death?

No, right?

Father, please...

No.

That is not true.

I was going to convince my brother and get the approval for the power transfer.

I did not know they would poison my brother, either.

That is when...

That is when you should have stopped them.

I first wanted to get the approval, be on the throne,

and stop them from disrespecting the royal family ever again.

Therefore,

did you work with those wicked people?

You do not know what it is like to be a powerless king.

You are not allowed to do anything of your own volition.

Father.

But that will change now.

I have the ledger now.

It is my chance to eliminate the Defense Minister.

A family was destroyed because of that ledger.

A family?

Do you mean Hong Min Shik's?

Do you know how his daughter has been living?

She lived in torment every day while waiting to take revenge for her father.

Do you only see...

that woman's pain,

but not your father's?

- Father. - Hand me the ledger now.

I will take care of everything else.

The ledger...

is not with me.

- What? - Countless innocent people

died because of that ledger.

How could I bring it here knowing that?

- Prince Mu Yeong! - Father!

Father,

you cannot cover a mistake with another mistake.

I have already been told that you were doing useless things,

but I did not know you would ruin the important task over a woman.

How...

How come you left the ledger?

Important task?

Maybe you lied to yourself, calling it an important task.

What do you know?

Do you think I am doing this only to save myself?

Insolent bastard.

Father, Prince Eun Seong, the royal family, and everything.

I will turn all of it back to their own place.

I will make a different decision than you

and prove myself.

Royal Guard!

Imprison him in his residence immediately.

Make sure he cannot take a step outside.

- Father. - Imprison him...

and go to Yongcheonru.

Go and bring me the ledger.

I do not care who has it. If someone tries to stop you,

kill them.

I will carry out the order.

You cannot, Father.

- Let us go. - You cannot.

- Father. - Look!

You must stop, Father!

Father!

You must stop, Father!

Father!

I promise.

No matter what happens,

I will try my best to protect you.

Whether you are Hong Deok Su or Hong Jae On,

I decided to keep only you...

in my heart...

no matter which one you are.

You are right, Hong Deok Su.

It is much better to rely on each other.

I have never lived as a woman.

Things would be awkward and difficult,

but I will still try, Lee Eun Ho.

[Uiju Merchant]

Open the door.

Tell them Master Innkeeper Seol Mae Hwa of Yongcheonru is here.

I am Seol Mae Hwa of Yongcheonru in Hanyang.

I know.

This is also where you will die tonight.

Let me meet the merchant leader.

What is this wound? Did you get hurt?

I am okay.

What is going on?

You were bringing Deok Su back. Why did you get hurt?

Go Su Ra,

I need to know what Hong Deok Su is doing and where,

whom she meets, and what she thinks about.

That is the only way for me to protect her.

- What? - You said...

you will help me, right?

From now on, report to me about Hong Deok Su every day.

Cheon Jun Hwa,

you really are just like your father.

- What? - What exactly happened?

Where is Lee Eun Ho now?

That man went back to where he belonged. That is all.

"That man"?

- Do you not care about your friend anymore? - Lee Eun Ho is actually...

Prince Mu Yeong.

We were not friends from the beginning.

He is a royal.

He went back to where he was meant to be,

so everything will get sorted out.

- But Cheon Jun Hwa- - Please do as I say.

I beg you.

Please go to the back gate in the north.

Hyungnim.

Leave through here.

- Why- - I removed the guards outside the gate for now.

You need to take the path you chose.

Hyungnim.

There is no time. Let us talk later.

Hurry.

Go and bring me the ledger.

I do not care who has it. If someone tries to stop you,

kill them.

Was that the only reason?

It was...

all for the ledger?

No.

- This is- - You should have just asked for it.

How...

My father sent an assassin.

It is dangerous for you to have this ledger.

Do not get involved.

It is my business.

Do not show up in front of me again,

Prince Mu Yeong.

Leave now.

If so, let me join you, Hong Deok Su.

It is dangerous for you to be alone.

What you are trying to do going forward. I will help you, no matter what it is.

- Lee Eun Ho- - I will never...

I will never leave you behind.

I will never give up or stop.

Do you know what that means?

I might end up pointing a sword at your father.

Will you still help me?

So that I could stop him.

Helping you...

is the only way to prevent my father from committing further wrongdoings.

Is that so?

Could you be a bait for my trap, then?

Gosh, the new master innkeeper is being appointed.

Why are you so happy about it?

The master innkeeper position is vacant. It is probably time.

Head Host, by chance...

Of course, I will be appointed because I am exceptional.

What should I do first once I get appointed?

Should I put together some people from Uiju?

What do you think, Head Manager?

- Head Manager. - W-What?

What thoughts are you so consumed by?

You seem to be going out every night.

You are very busy these days.

What do you mean I am busy? My goodness.

Well, I am busy.

Excuse me, then.

My gosh. My gosh. My gosh.

How suspicious.

By chance, is the Head Manager also trying to become the master innkeeper?

Aigoo...

We have not heard from Seol Mae Hwa at all.

I wonder if something bad happened to her.

Aigoo.

So,

did you have a nice visit to your father's house?

Did you find the safe?

Why are you so shocked?

My apologies.

I was going to find the ledger and bring it to you last night,

but I had no choice but to leave it there.

Lead the way.

I should finally go and get it.

So, that was the spot.

It was just here, but I did not know.

Move.

It was definitely here.

Did you open this with Prince Mu Yeong last night?

Yes.

Jo Seung Ryang, find Prince Mu Yeong.

That bastard took the ledger.

Yes, sir.

Let us go.

The three people...

who killed my father 12 years ago are after this ledger.

I will make sure they end up dying while fighting each other.

Lee Eun Ho, you should be the bait

and reveal that this ledger is with the Defense Minister.

Whether the King's assassin or Cheon,

I will make them suspect the Defense Minister.

We are not close enough to face each other like this.

I brought you a gift today.

Would you not be happy about that?

A gift?

For me, do you mean?

What is this?

This...

This ledger.

[Money from Oh Yeong Rak, Lee Hyeon Wi, Slush Funds...]

Where did you get this?

Why... Why... Why...

Why did you...

bring this to me?

I need to...

get rid of Cheon.

Pardon?

I need to protect my father and the royal family.

Your grandson, Prince Seon Yang, is also an offspring of the royal family.

So,

you will...

use me as a weapon to kill Cheon?

The ones with noble blood should work together at times like this.

You should not have worked with a low-class person like Cheon to achieve a great task.

He ended up creating this ledger.

I suppose that is true.

If you promise you will get rid of Cheon,

I will give you this ledger.

Sound good.

We have the evidence now.

We should catch the traitor and bring order to the country.

Many people are after the ledger.

You had better keep it safe.

Your father and I were friends even before you were born.

At one point,

we believed we could conquer the world together.

Jae On,

Hong Jae On,

you cannot be thinking of doing something else.

You are the only child my friend, Hong Min Shik, had.

That ledger is a dangerous object.

If you try to have it, you will definitely die.

That is why I sent Jun Hwa last night.

To protect you, Jae On.

Cheon Jun Hwa?

Yes.

Cheon Jun Hwa is my son.

Jun Hwa...

Jun Hwa is your son, Master Cheon?

Your father shared a name with Jun Hwa.

Jun Hwa and Jae On.

I believe you two share one fate.

Although your father and I failed to achieve a dream together,

I believe you two would be different.

Jae On,

could you achieve that dream?

Hong Deok Su.

We were told to come to Chinyeongrae now. Come with us.

Okay. Let us.

Where have you been this time?

Do not go around freely anymore.

There will be a lot to do from now on.

Was that an order just now?

Can you not tell I am doing this for you?

Do as I say.

That would be in your best interest.

Hey, what are you doing first thing in the morning?

Let us go. Hurry up.

The notice was posted!

It is finally here, Master Innkeeper Yu Su In.

Welcome. Congratulations.

Why are you all out here?

Senior Seong Jin,

the Uiju family should get together sometime.

To celebrate Head Host Yu's appointment as the master innkeeper.

We should have a grand celebration.

Come on now.

Should we?

I cannot bear to see this.

Head Host Yu, I will leave now.

Enjoy. Enjoy.

Hyungnim, where are you going?

Once Head Host Yu becomes the master innkeeper,

I will destroy all the Bottom-tier bastards first.

We should completely destroy them, Hyungnim.

Who says you could?

Gosh.

You would get kicked out first if you blabber your mouth, Kim Myeong Ho.

Aigoo, Bottom-tier bastards.

You still have not come to your senses and blabber your mouth.

Just wait and see, you bastards.

Okay, okay! Here it comes!

The new master innkeeper, Yu Su In...

No.

[Master Innkeeper Cheon Jun Hwa]

Cheon Jun Hwa?

[Master Innkeeper Cheon Jun Hwa]

The master innkeeper's assistants are...

Hong Deok Su and G-Go Su Ra?

Huh?

Everyone, greet him.

He is Master Cheon's only son and the new master innkeeper.

He studied in the Qing dynasty and...

took the innkeeper exam like you for hands-on training,

but treat him as the master innkeeper from now on.

My gosh. My gosh.

Geez!

Damn it.

I wanted to tell you sooner.

Are you shocked?

From now on, as the master innkeeper,

I will make the best decision for you.

You, Cheon Jun Hwa?

Master Cheon's son, Cheon Jun Hwa?

You...

are mistaken about my father, Hong Deok Su.

Go Su Ra,

you knew everything, did you not?

You sucked up to Cheon Jun Hwa because you knew from the beginning.

What a sly bastard.

Move.

Why?

Did you prefer crawling between Cheon Jun Hwa's legs than my legs?

Kim Myeong Ho!

Hyungnim! Hyungnim! Are you okay?

Go Su Ra, you bastard!

Move!

How dare an innkeeper punch the master innkeeper?

Are you out of your mind?

Well, Go Su Ra punched first.

Yes!

Yes, he did, sir.

Crawl.

If you crawl between Go Su Ra's legs,

I will let you avoid getting fired.

W-What did you say?

- Gosh, Master Innkeeper. - Master Innkeeper.

Do you not want to?

Du Shik, you crawl instead.

Pardon?

Are you telling me to crawl, then?

Stop, Cheon Jun Hwa.

You bastard!

How dare you call the master innkeeper "Cheon Jun Hwa"?

I-I know.

How dare you call the new master innkeeper by his name?

You should just leave.

I will not forgive you if you treat my assistant badly.

Get out of my sight.

- Let us go, Hyungnim. - Let us go.

Let go.

I wanted to see them crawling between your legs.

I will be fair and make them pay for what they have done.

Fair?

Is what you did just now fair?

Why are you getting angry?

I did that for you-

That was for me?

What makes you any different than Kim Myeong Ho?

You are the same.

You think I am the same as Kim Myeong Ho?

Does making them submit to your power mean justice?

You told me to watch Hong Deok Su and report to you every day.

Fine.

I will do it.

Instead, you will have to pay a lot for it.

I need money.

Justifying your actions and being tormented by love and friendship.

Is that not what powerful people do for fun?

I cannot afford to do that.

That makes you the master innkeeper...

and me, the master innkeeper's assistant.

Go Su Ra.

Those Bottom-tier bastards.

I am not Kim Myeong Ho of Uiju if I just let them be.

I will destroy all of you.

Hyungnim!

Prince Mu Yeong gave the ledger to the Defense Minister?

I followed three soldiers who left the Defense Minister's residence,

but all they had were blank ledgers. Forgive me.

What is he up to, anyway?

Your Majesty, the Defense Minister is here.

I did not allow your entry yet.

How dare you come in here?

Since it was such an urgent matter,

I could not bear to wait, Your Majesty.

Defense Minister.

You have a very filial son, Your Majesty.

Prince Mu Yeong brought Cheon's ledger...

to me in person, if you can believe it.

The ledger that proves that the former king was poisoned.

Cheon recorded every little detail.

So?

So, what are you suggesting right now?

Since we have the proof of Cheon's treason,

I will arrest and execute him.

Instead,

declare the power of transfer to Prince Seon Yang immediately.

How dare you!

Transfer of power?

Royal Guard!

Your Majesty.

If you kill me now,

the ledger that I am protecting safely

will be spread everywhere in the capital.

If you do not declare the transfer of power tomorrow,

instead of Cheon, Your Majesty will...

be taken down for treason for murdering the former king.

What brings you to the royal bedchamber at this hour, Defense Minister?

Probably to discuss an urgent matter with His Majesty. Do you not think so?

The whole world will be upside down tomorrow.

Do not be too shocked.

I am...

letting you know in advance in case it overwhelms

your poor health and weak mind.

You need to be healthy.

If you live long,

you may see a good day at some point.

[We need to discuss the future urgently. Come to the Special Guest Room. - Lee Eun Ho]

Lee Eun Ho.

You came indeed.

What do we do?

What are you doing?

Where is Lee Eun Ho?

Look how you came running at once for Lee Eun Ho.

What relationship do you have?

You two are so close, like lovers.

You two...

are homosexuals, are you not?

Kim Myeong Ho,

do not do what you would regret.

Or Hong Deok Su,

are you a woman?

Seriously.

Tell me.

No.

I can just check myself.

There is no need to complicate things.

How did you hide it so well at Jakyakjae?

I will reveal your identity, Hong Deok Su!

Get away!

You were attached to Lee Eun Ho.

Have you already changed sides because Cheon Jun Hwa became the master innkeeper?

Kim Myeong Ho!

Cheon Jun Hwa. Cheon Jun Hwa.

Let go.

I will kill him.

Cheon Jun Hwa, that is enough.

How dare you do that to him?

You are being fooled by Hong Deok Su!

Cheon Jun Hwa,

you are being fooled right now.

Do you know who Hong Deok Su fools around with?

Shut up, Kim Myeong Ho!

Lee Eun Ho!

She already has affection for Lee Eun Ho.

I saw everything!

Shut up!

Die! Die! Die!

You said we should not mingle with the lowly ones.

I suppose it was hard to turn down Yongcheonru's invitation.

You are the same, are you not?

You said we have to abandon Cheon Mak Dong.

Did you change your mind overnight?

By the way, is the Defense Minister not here?

Not sure...

Who are you?

I am the new master innkeeper, Cheon Jun Hwa.

Cheon Jun Hwa?

Your Excellency, if he is a Cheon...

We received high-quality beef.

So I thought I should invite you to introduce myself.

Eat all you want and take the gifts I prepared for you as well.

What is all this?

What is the problem?

Do you not like the cow tongue?

Cow tongue?

Are you telling us to eat this cow tongue right now?

What is the problem?

It was so hard for me to get this.

Come on now!

You do not know manners since you are still so young.

Cheon...

Mak...

Dong.

Those tongues of yours you use so rudely.

Should I put your tongues on this platter instead?

It is an incredibly expensive dish. Will you not eat it?

Right.

I forgot to tell you about the gifts.

Go ahead and open it.

It is very delicious.

Absolutely.

Very nice!

Watch your tongues, my lords.

I am begging you right now.

I am almost there.

Tomorrow, this Oh Yeong Rak's offspring will be on the throne!

Where is the ledger?

Oh Yeong Rak!

Welcome to Yongcheonru,

Uiju Merchant Leader.

Is this that high and mighty Yongcheonru?

It is shiny but nothing special.

Where is my baby, Myeong Ho?

I want to see his handsome face.

Let us go.

[Check in Hanyang]

♫ Reignite the fire in the cold night ♫

♫ Fight the cold night that is overtaking me ♫

♫ Even if the world challenges me endlessly ♫

♫ I will burn even more vigorously ♫

♫ Fight the darkness with the red burning sun ♫

Everything ended up in Cheon's hands.

After the Defense Minister, it is Cheon's turn.

Hong Deok Su, do not put blood on your hand anymore.

I already made up my mind.

Marry my son.

Use me, Hong Deok Su. Marry me.

Do not tempt Hong Deok Su anymore.

I am ready to give up everything I have.

Do you love Jae On?

I love Hong Deok Su.

There will be an uprising soon.

An uprising?

We will change the king.

Let us clean everything up and start a new world.

We need to prevent a war.

Bring that girl to me.

Everything is ready.

I just...

need to witness...

his death for myself.
