Like my parents divorce,
there was abuse in the home.

I have a picture of me,
like, when I'm 3.

That picture and knowing, like,

what was going to come
for, like, me...

emotionally and sexually.

And that's, like,
what triggered the divorce.

It's hard for me to comprehend

that I had a dad
that looked at me

and still made the choices
that he made.

As I was sitting there,
memories, like, just started

to click in,

I think my body
had blocked out a lot of, like,

not just, like, the bad
memories, but like...

-Like, some of the good.

-That was a very
weird experience.

So, my dad passed away in 2020.

It was a closing of a chapter
of a lot of hurt.

I would never
go as far as to say

that I'm thankful for
the divorce and the situation

because of the hell
that it brought into my life.

But I will say, [ Sniffles ]

it's really helped me to become

a better man
and a better husband

and a better father,

and more so now than,
probably ever.

-I actually have done that, too.

-What was it for you?

-Um...

I was sexually abused as a kid.

And so, a lot of, like...

a lot of my happy memories,
too, I block out.

And for me, it's more
a feeling of unworthiness, like,

and it doesn't make sense
to, like, the outside world,

but to me, I'm like, "okay,
so I was sexually abused,

I must have
done something wrong."

So, the good memories
that I do have...

or didhave that I block out,
I didn't deserve those,

if that makes sense.
