=Episode 12=

Young Master Xi,

don't you want to impress your father?

Alright,

you got it.

But you have to agree to one condition.

Please go ahead.

It's simple for you.

You make Xuan Lie lose the first contest,

and I'll do business with you.

Otherwise, tomorrow I'll sign contracts

with others.

I'm just a merchant.

I can't get involved in Beixuan's internal affairs.

Miss, please don't joke.

You can be Xuan Lie's strategist,

so he trusts you.

You can also assist the Xi Clan.

And you just said it yourself,

there are no permanent friends

or enemies in business.

Besides, who's going to be

Beixuan's Wolf Lord?

Does it even matter to you,

a Yannan merchant?

Miss,

you're finally back.

Are you hurt?

I'm perfectly fine, see?

I knew the General would find you.

Miss,

what are you doing?

Someone tampered with the General's bow and arrows.

I'm fixing them for him.

You care so much about the General,

but he...

Miss, do you know

once the General becomes the Wolf Lord,

he'll choose a wife from the noble ladies?

I know.

Miss, aren't you upset?

Why should I be upset?

You're doing everything for the general,

but he's planning to marry someone else.

I'm just working with him.

Who he marries

has nothing to do with me.

In my eyes,

the General's recent attitude shows

you're the only one he wants to marry.

He'll marry you sooner or later.

I don't think the General and I will get there.

Your Majesty, Princess went to the northern forest

to find a slave named Qingming.

Qingming?

Do you know his background?

Since she returned from the Uncontrollable,

he has always been by her side.

This is all I know.

Investigate the background of this slave thoroughly.

Yes.

Not dressed yet?

Quite dashing!

You're now

the most handsome eunuch in Beixuan.

Where are you going?

What now?

As my eunuch, you'll go wherever I go,

protect me, and follow my orders.

From now on, you'll be with me all the time.

Father,

we tampered with Xuan Lie's Wushao Bow,

but now he's using another one.

Our plan might be ruined.

Your archery's good,

and he won't use Wushao Bow.

We might still have a chance.

Don't worry, Father.

Jun Qiluo will help us.

That woman is full of schemes.

How can you trust her words?

Father, don't worry.

Now that the mine is in our hands,

and she wants it,

she'll help us.

Never mind.

Let's see her choice.

Proceed as planned.

Yes.

I knew Miss Jun is still upset.

Otherwise, why wouldn't she return the Wushao Bow?

Young Master,

the contest comes first.

We'd better handle it later.

General,

here's your bow.

This safety knot is for you.

You must win.

Don't miss it.

Lie's archery is

top-notch in Beixuan.

The Hunting Event consists of three rounds:

training, hunting, and territory exercises.

The winners can place their clan's plaque on the podium.

Each winning team in the contest

(Su, Sun, Luo, Xi, Xuan) gets five plaques,

and so forth.

The one with the most plaques

at the end of the contests wins

and becomes the Beixuan Wolf Lord,

holding the Five Clans' Military Token

and commanding their armies.

Yes.

Yes.

The first round of the training exercise begins now.

Leaders, please take eight warriors each

into the withered woods.

Anyone hit by a colored arrow

is out.

If the Leader is hit,

the whole team is out.

The last Leader in the woods

will light a signal flare in their clan's color,

marking the end of the first round.

Let's go!

Zhaomin,

you are impressive.

I'm here to protect you.

Shameless!

Zhaomin, wait for me!

Leave me alone.

Father.

Xi Mo!

How dare you set a trap!

This doesn't count.

There's no rule against traps.

Princess,

don't be a sore loser.

You...

You got him out too.

It's not that bad for us.

Not bad? Seriously?

You're the Leader.

He hit you,

which means our entire Sun Clan is out.

The Xi and Sun are related by blood.

We should unite,

but you chose to support Xuan.

So I couldn't hold back.

Mr. Sun, please don't blame me.

The Xi Clan uses strategy wisely,

and the Sun Clan learned that today.

But bad intentions won't

make strategy last.

The Xi Clan should

be careful in the next rounds.

Father...

Why are you so down?

Just because he eliminated me?

I'm upset that he won unfairly,

but I can't report him.

Everything in the contests should be respected.

Victory and defeat must be fair and square.

Today, he had the advantage

but still needed two arrows to hit us.

You took him out with one.

That shows your archery is way beyond his.

Just stay alert and cautious

in future contests,

and you'll definitely win with ease.

General Lie,

how can you do without your weapon?

Lie,

you all go first.

Okay.

Mr. Luo,

what are you doing?

Don't you want to become the Wolf Lord?

Xuan Lie will lose this contest for sure.

Just wait and see.

Mr. Xi,

have you done

something shady again?

Xuan Lie got the wrong read on people.

The broken bowstring is proof.

Your Majesty,

the Sun was eliminated before the Su.

And Young Master Xi Mo was hit by Princess Zhaomin,

so he's out too.

Princess Zhaomin is no less inferior to men.

What about Lie?

General Lie's bowstring broke.

Deputy He is out.

Deputy Luo is protecting him now.

What? How did his bowstring break?

Is the bow

the one Jun Qiluo gave to Lie?

I knew she had bad intentions.

Enough.

Don't stir things up.

We'll deal with it after the contest.

See? Jun Qiluo

is evil and spiteful.

Young Master, take my bow.

Take it and keep Xuan's hope alive.

Young Master!

Keep up with me!

General Lie's bowstring broke.

Will he be alright?

As long as he finishes in the top three

and wins two more rounds,

he can still become the Wolf Lord.

Yi,

don't run around everywhere.

- Greetings, Consort Li. - Greetings, Consort Li.

Please rise.

Are you the Yannan woman

General Lie brought back?

Your hat is coming apart.

Let me have a look.

Xin, take it back and mend it.

- It can still last another year. - Yes.

Consort Li, why not give it to me?

I'll mend it and return it to you.

Sounds good.

Miss Qiluo, I heard you come from the Juns in Yannan.

You must be very skilled.

Your efforts to open trade between the Juns and Sun Clan

have already spread across the Royal City.

Who brought real weapons to the woods?

There's an ambush! Run!

Luo Qi!

Retreat!

Luo Qi.

Young Master, don't worry about me.

There's an ambush. You should go.

Let's go.

General Lie.

If you leave now,

the second place will not be yours.

Mr. Xi, you've set this ambush,

and if I lose to you,

people will laugh at you.

If Xuan ranks third,

will you be at ease?

Let's go.

Mr. Luo has won!

Your Majesty,

Mr. Luo hit Mr. Xi and won this round.

Both Mr. Xi and General Lie fired arrows

at each other

and were both hit.

General Lie gave up second place.

Alright.

Now, for Lie,

Luo Qi's life

is more important than the contest.

Announce the result.

Yes.

The first round is over.

Xuan Clan earned three plaques.

Xi Clan earned four plaques.

Luo Clan earned five plaques.

Sun Clan earned one plaque.

Su Clan earned two plaques.

(Chiyan Pass)

Mr. Jun,

we came to this Chiyan Gorge as they told us,

but where is everyone?

Let's wait and see.

Yes.

Are you the Jun Manager?

Yes, I'm.

Greetings, sirs.

I received a letter from your Leader

stating a hostage exchange here,

but why don't I see the hostage?

Fellows, listen to my order!

Whoever kills him today,

- will berewarded 1,000 silver taels! - You...

How can you go back on your word?

Get him!

Mr. Jun, hurry!

Mr. Jun.

I'm afraid we've fallen into a trap.

We need to leave now.

Qi, shall we go back now?

General Lie and the others are here.

How did Luo Qi get injured?

How is he?

Luckily, the arrow missed by a cun,

so it didn't hit a vital spot.

But it was coated with anesthetic powder,

which knocked the Deputy unconscious.

What do you want to say?

Jun Qiluo gave you that bowstring, didn't she?

Yes, she did.

What's the matter?

Xi Changkun said

that Xi Mo met Jun Qiluo today.

Impossible.

Maybe I'm overthinking it.

General Lie!

How is Luo Qi?

What did you do to the bowstring?

What do you mean?

You met Xi Mo this afternoon? What for?

I told you, just tell me what you want.

Why won't you trust me?

Xuan Lie,

they are about to sell the mine

and sign the contract with someone else.

I can't wait any longer.

So you betrayed me.

I thought that by now,

we could trust each other,

but I was just fooling myself.

Do you know how close

Luo Qi came to dying?

Xuan Lie,

you have your duty

to become the Wolf Lord and protect Beixuan.

But I have my mission too.

To safeguard the Juns' legacy for Jun Feifan,

I must find the black iron crystal.

No matter who becomes the Wolf Lord,

it won't be good for Yannan.

So why should I help you

achieve your goal

while risking the future of the Juns?

I've said that once I become the Wolf Lord,

I will never allow war to happen.

Why won't you trust me?

Fine.

I've trusted the wrong person these days.

From now on, we part ways.

As you wish.

Father,

that Qiluo girl is pretty impressive.

I can't believe she set up Xuan Lie

to get the black iron crystal.

Now they have parted ways.

Is she really the one behind Luo Qi's injury?

I'm afraid so.

To sever Xuan Lie's wings,

Luo Qi and He Jiyao should be taken out first.

That woman is truly clever.

We can't let our guard down.

She's been with Xuan Lie for so long,

and now she's betrayed him for a business deal.

Who knows if she will

turn against us in the future?

Yes, Father.

I'll be extra careful.

But there's no need to fear her just yet.

As long as we delay signing the mine contract,

she'll keep working for us.

Although she's crafty,

she's also very capable.

If we can keep her on our side forever,

it could be a good thing.

You want to tame her?

That's not going to be easy.

Today, though Luo Zhizhou made a gain,

at least Xuan Lie didn't win.

You've done well with it.

But remember, stay alert

for the next two rounds.

Lie has only earned three plaques for now.

If he loses another round,

he might lose his chance of becoming the Wolf Lord.

It's all his own fault

for trusting that Jun Qiluo!

You,

pick that up for me!

Don't you understand what I'm saying?

You're now my eunuch.

Do as I say!

Pick it up again.

Since when did you become so obedient?

When Princess is upset,

it's the servants' job to calm her down.

If Princess's anger affects others,

it's a failure on our part.

So, are you worried I'll blame Jun Qiluo?

Are you worried I'll hurt her?

With me here, you won't be able to.

Don't worry.

As long as you follow my orders,

I won't hurt her.

Qingming knows the merchant woman with Xuan Lie?

Yes, Princess was furious.

She said Qingming listened to her for the sake

of that Yannan woman.

Princess doesn't allow us servants near her tent,

so that's all we could find out.

Could he also be from Yannan?

Whoever he is,

I can't let such a dangerous person

stay by Qingkou's side.

- General. - General.

Miss Qiluo,

have you had breakfast?

Mr. Xi, I've done

what you asked.

Isn't it time for me to get the black iron crystals?

No rush.

I'll keep the mine for you.

Since you chose Xi's side,

I'll certainly help you all the way.

Everyone knows I've parted ways

with Xuan Lie, but still,

you don't trust me.

My father and I both see

your sincerity, Miss Qiluo.

But as you said,

people know you've parted ways,

not that you're with us.

For the next hunting exercise,

the Wild Forest is treacherous.

The King has promised

that tomorrow, warriors from all clans can enter the Wild Forest

to familiarize themselves with the terrain.

Miss Qiluo, you'll accompany me

so everyone knows

you're under my command.

What do you think?

Do you have any other conditions?

Go ahead and state them all.

Miss Qiluo, you're truly impressive.

You managed to craft such a meticulous plan

in such a short time yesterday.

You made Xuan Lie lose his Wushao Bow

and got Luo Qi injured.

I'm no match for you.

With your incredible abilities,

why not help my father become the Wolf Lord?

That way, you can have as many

black iron crystals as you want,

and the Juns won't have to pay double.

It's a great deal.

Don't you think it's worth considering, Miss Qiluo?

(The one who injured Luo Qi wasn't one of Xi Mo's men.)

I'm afraid you don't have time to think, Miss Qiluo.

In business, integrity is most important.

We haven't signed any contract,

but you're asking me to act.

It doesn't work like that.

The mine is in our Xi Clan's hands.

Do you have any other choice?

Yesterday, I made Xuan Lie lose,

and tomorrow, I can make Xi lose

without anyone knowing.

No wonder

Xuan Lie would let a woman

be his strategist.

I'll go to the Wild Forest with you,

but before the next round begins,

the first batch of black iron crystals

must be sent to Yannan.

My request isn't too much, is it?

Mo,

you can't agree to her terms.

Since she betrayed General Lie,

she could betray you too.

Don't be deceived by her.

This isn't your concern.

Princess,

you like General Lie, don't you?

That's right.

I do like General Lie.

So, if you dare hurt him,

I won't let you off.

That's enough!

Yu...

I shouldn't meddle in your family matters.

I'll take my leave now.

Don't hurt General Lie!

Did you hear me?

Stop it.

You...

How is Luo Qi's injury?

Luo Qi wasn't fatally injured.

He'll be fine in a few days.

The following rounds will get tougher.

Can you handle it?

I'm fine now.

It's just that I lost the first round yesterday.

Please forgive me, Xu.

The result is settled,

so don't dwell on it.

But from now on,

you must win every round.

Yesterday, you had a big fight with that Yannan merchant woman,

and everyone knows about it.

That was inappropriate.

I warned you early on

that woman came from Yannan

and can't be fully trusted.

Now, not only did she cost you the contest,

but she also got Luo Qi injured.

Maybe we should deal with her for good.

Xu,

no.

Why not?

She's just Jun Feifan's maid.

Moreover, ever since she came to Beixuan,

she has been causing trouble.

And now, you haven't found

any solid evidence on her.

We should've never let her live.

Xu,

she is not Jun Feifan's maid.

She's Jun Qiluo, his eldest sister.

Jun Qiluo?

Exactly. She wasn't the one behind the ambush

in the woods yesterday.

At this point,

do you still trust her?

She returned with me yesterday.

She has no power in Beixuan,

so she couldn't have set this up.

Do you know who those people were?

Their method was similar to the ones who ambushed me

in the forest.

I suspect they are from the Five Clans.

But without concrete proof,

I can't speak up for you.

So now,

give your all to win the contests.

Only by winning and becoming the Wolf Lord

can you protect yourself from others.

Yes, Xu.

"Where do you gather the white mugwort?"

"On the sandbar by the marsh."

"What's it for?"

- "For rituals..." - Your Ladyship,

Miss Qiluo requests an audience.

Let her in.

Yes, Your Ladyship.

- Continue. - "For rituals in noble houses."

"Where do you gather the white mugwort?"

- "By the mountain stream." - "By the..."

Greetings, Your Ladyship.

Please rise.

I've mended Prince Yi's hat.

The craftsmanship of the Juns is incredible.

No signs of mending at all.

It looks as good as new.

Thank you, Your Ladyship.

Here you go, Yi.

You're sharp.

Yi, why don't you go play outside for a while?

Are you doing well with General Lie?

Foreign women in Beixuan

must learn to read the room.

If a girl marries into royalty or nobility,

there will be many hardships and sorrows,

and she'll have to

endure them in silence.

Your Ladyship, the King bringing you to the Hunting Event,

shows how important you are to him.

Why say such gloomy things?

These are just temporary.

All I hope for now is that Yi stays safe and sound.

Everything else

doesn't matter much to me.

Miss Qiluo, I heard you

went to the Xi Clan's tent early this morning.

Is there really no chance

for you and General Lie to make up?

Yi has always been naughty,

and he's growing so fast that many of

his clothes don't fit before he even wears them.

If you have some time,

perhaps you could teach me.

That way, as Yi's mother,

I can mend his clothes myself.

You're too kind.

It is my honor.

Open the door!

- Coming. - Open the door!

Who's knocking? Why the rush?

Bad news, Uncle Ling.

Mr. Jun has had an accident.

Mr. Jun! Mr. Jun!

Help! Someone, help!

Mr. Jun!

Mr. Jun!

Physician, how is my father?

Mr. Jun is gravely injured.

Though he survived,

I'm afraid he may never walk again.

When will he wake up?

It depends on his luck.

It could be a few days,

or several years.

Father!

Father...

Uncle Ling.

Yes, Miss.

Please bring in other physicians,

the best ones in the Royal Capital.

I refuse to believe no one can heal Father.

Yes.

Uncle Ling, bring the most expensive ones!

Bring the best ones.

The best in the Royal Capital!

Bring them all here!

- Please wake up. - Bring them all here!

(Miss Qiluo will go to the Wild Forest with the Xi Clan tomorrow.)

Jun Qiluo switched allegiance to Xi Changkun

for black iron crystals.

She can easily make the Xuan Clan lose the contest,

which could later

jeopardize my plans.

We should get rid of her.

She'll go to the Wild Forest.

It's time for you to act tomorrow.

Yes, Mr. Luo.

Mr. Luo,

it's getting cold.

Your old ailment might flare up again.

Please take your medicine on time.

Just do what you need to do.

You may leave now.

Yes, I understand.

Mr. Luo, please rest early.
