- We got a call about an argument that's escalating.

It has not yet been physical

but it looks like it's escalating.

The only person that's on scene right now

is Officer Glascock.

[siren wailing]

and they were gonna leave.

She then asked if she could still stay in the room.

Then it turned into this whole big dispute.

I was trying to deescalate the situation.

She was like banging on the glass and stuff like that.

He left. When I said we were calling the cops,

he bailed on her very quickly.

- [Deputy Glascock] I just want to drop you off somewhere.

- What would you like to see happen?

- Okay.

- So you guys are good, safe right now over there?

- [Kordula] All right, thank you.

- Camden County Sheriff's Office requested our assistance

because this female here and her other half

were supposedly involved in a verbal argument.

Nothing physical had taken place at the time,

so she continued to cause issues in the lobby of the hotel,

creating a disturbance with the hotel staff

and I guess their security.

- So, when-

[Detainee hiting window]

- Really?

So we were here for a disturbance

to begin with, like 30 minutes ago,

and she left with her boyfriend.

It was a verbal disturbance.

They wanted to leave together.

They left, apparently they just circled right back

into the parking lot.

And then he left her here

and she was in there causing a disturbance again.

- [Detainee] [whimpering] What have I done?

Okay, now I'm getting out of here.

- Camden County deputy decided

to put her on what's called a 12-hour hold.

We usually do that with someone that's highly intoxicated

or extremely high and they're a danger to themselves

or to the general public.

In this case, the young lady

was able to slip her handcuffs in front of her

and around her legs and go to the front.

It happens.

It's just when people are drunk,

they don't feel pain as much as somebody that's sober,

so they're able to put their body

through a little bit more stress

than somebody that is in their right state of mind.

[upbeat music]

- We are headed down to the Bagnell Dam Strip

for an event called Hot Summer Nights.

And they invite show cars to come into the area

[upbeat music]

and they kind of take over the strip for a Friday evening.

Tonight the weather's beautiful

and we have a pretty good crowd.

[car horn honking]

So we want to make sure it's adequately staffed.

These are events that most towns our size don't get.

- [Boren] Good, how you doing?

- You guys having a good night?

- It's beautiful.

We approach this type of event with down-to-earth attitude.

We talk to these folks and brush shoulders with them.

- To me, it's so important that our officers maintain

that level of being personable with folks.

It's a treat to be able to work at these events.

It's about now in the evening show cars start heading out

and the folks that are coming down here

to enjoy the nightlife are starting to show up.

But when you have this many people down here at the bars

and only a few officers, you have to be very vigilant

and ready to respond to whatever the night may bring.

[upbeat music]

- We're gonna walk around.

We're hanging out here in this area

because occasionally some of the underage folks

can slide in through this side of the bar.

- We were just talking and then he just swung on me

and just punched me in the face.

- Did you see which door he left?

- Do you want medics or anything to check that out?

- The suspect was hanging on him and his friends.

They told him to, "Quit touching us,"

and then out of nowhere

he just sucker punched him in the face.

We got in there,

we had to figure out if he was the victim or the suspect.

Coming to find out he was the victim.

- I'm standing over here across the street

after that last fight, and I look over,

I see these two are going down to the ground.

Somebody who was on top of them trying to break them up.

She tells me they're best friends

and she doesn't even know why they were fighting.

It does seem like most of these people

have a high level of intoxication of this hour.

And typically, once you get one or two fights,

it's just in the air at that point.

Neither of you want to prosecute each other?

- A warning and this doesn't happen again down here.

- We got plenty to deal with, okay.

I think we have everybody identified.

Really nobody wants to press charges

and once we get all this settled down,

we're gonna determine if there's any further action

that needs to be taken.

- The brawl broke out inside

we're gonna have sidewalks full of people with nowhere to go

- We want to get them into their Ubers

and get them out of here.

My husband's actually a deputy with Miller County.

He actually got into law enforcement prior to me,

by I believe a year, a year and a half.

We both love our jobs.

It's a nice schedule that we have.

One week I only work two days

and then the next week I work five days.

It's almost like having a mini vacation every other week.

Lots of family time.

We can go do more things.

We like riding dirt bikes together

and hunting and fishing.

So yeah, our family,

I feel like we have more bonding time this way

because we get to do more adventures together.

If he goes back for his vehicle

to have somebody that isn't intoxicated to move it,

we'll have to arrest for trespassing.
