[19th Floor]

[Episode 7]

[No. 188, East Tianhe Road]

[Tianji Science and Technology]

But if we don't go, we will never know the truth.

[Unparalleled Real Experience] Miss Chun Yu, Mr. Gao Xuan, hello.

You know us?

I received the signed players' information early on.

Please come with me.

This way.

This way, please.

[Classical Chinese Writing]

Please take a short rest here.

Feel free to enjoy the drinks and desserts in the self-service area.

A staff member will guide you

through the signing process later.

Thank you.

You must have noticed it too.

The game content in the promotional video

is completely different from the version we actually experienced.

It's like an embellished version.

And generally, a signing event

is usually made to be very grand.

This one is very low-key.

Hello, please take a look at our flyer.

Why did you still come in?

Hello.

It is all fluff.

What's the matter, Chun Yu?

- It's nothing? - Hello.

Please come with me.

Please.

There will be our company's secrets involved,

so before you enter the room,

please place your phones in the small basket at the entrance.

Please.

Please take a seat.

Both of you rank quite high

in our comprehensive evaluation.

And you're surprisingly friends in private.

As good friends in the game,

you actually have a great advantage.

Sorry, but let's make it short.

You called us here to sign a contract, right?

Yes, you've survived in the game

for over 20 hours,

which qualifies you for the opportunity to become our contract experience officers.

As contract experience officers,

you can unlock

even more exciting levels in the game.

And another fantastic thing is

that players who clear the game can receive a substantial cash prize.

Who wants your damn prize money? I want my buddy back!

Sir, take it easy. We can talk this over.

We can discuss this matter.

Does what you say matter? Get your leader over here.

I've already told our manager.

He said he'd be here soon. Please stay calm.

- Back off! - Mr. Zhang.

OK.

Mr. Zhang Tianqiang, right?

I am the manager here. My name is Zhang Yunfeng.

You can tell me if you have any demands.

I just want to ask you one question.

What a crappy game it is!

If one dies in the game, they'll also faint in reality, right?

Where did you hear such rumors?

It's none of your business where I heard it.

Besides, this isn't a rumor.

Listen, my demand today is very simple.

First of all, return my buddy Hei Er to me.

Then wake up my brother Yong.

And then pay us compensation.

[Tianji Science and Technology] You two can rest assured.

We are a company that follows the rules very closely.

If you're okay with the agreement,

please sign it.

[Tianji Player Experience Agreement] Next--

I have a question to ask.

I'm listening.

What happens to people who die in the game?

Nothing.

They just log off and lose player status.

Just like the players just now.

It's just that they found the game very exciting

and wanted to strive for another opportunity.

Then why is it that some people die in the game

and remain comatose in reality?

We have never had such a situation.

Could it be caused by other reasons?

You know, if the game had caused comas,

we would have halted it long ago.

We would not continue with the tests.

Then where is Hei Er exactly?

If you can't handle this little thing today…

A call.

Hello?

Mr. Qiang.

Hei Er? Where did you go?

You don't care about your phone left at the hospital?

I bought a new phone.

That piece of junk wasn't useful, so I threw it away.

I knew it. So where are you now?

I'm in Linshui.

What are you doing there?

I got into some trouble recently and came to hide for a few days.

I wanted to tell you, but when I left that day,

you two were sleeping so soundly

and I couldn't wake you up.

What the heck is the urgent matter?

Now you leave without even telling me!

I can't tell anyone.

Also, keep it a secret from my brother for now.

I'll hide for a few more days. I'll talk to you in detail when I'm back.

Your brother is sick now. He--

I have to hang up. Bye.

Hello?

This brat, always in a rush.

Mr. Zhang Tianqiang.

Put down the knife first. Let's have a good chat, okay?

You can't solve the problem this way.

He's the same. He lost his player qualifications.

As for where he is,

you'll have to ask your friend, Zhang Tianqiang.

That's Mr. Qiang. I think he knows better.

The person who died at the same time as Hei Er in the game is…

He? He's Li, our engineer.

He played a tragic character

who only lived for three seconds

at the start of the game

just to give everyone a sense of crisis.

Oh, right, he's outside. Shall I call him in

to verify what I've said?

No need. I've seen him already.

[Unparalleled Real Experience] As for the words you heard,

that person has some grudges with our company.

That's why he said those things.

Actually, the matter is quite simple.

Just wait for a couple of days until Yong wakes up

and you'll know all of this has nothing to do with our game.

Qiang.

Lin, why are you here?

Alright, we can discuss the contract details now.

- Okay. - Please follow me.

Be smart and don't just sign the contract.

Sir, due to confidentiality,

please put your cell phone in this small basket before entering.

Thank you for your cooperation.

[No.1 in the World]

If there are no questions,

please sign here.

Sorry, I have a question.

How exactly did we enter this game?

At the start when you tried on the helmets,

the system recorded your player identities.

Then you automatically entered when the game started.

Automatically?

We did not wear helmets when we entered the game.

Yes, this is our latest technology.

It's about giving players a fully immersive experience.

So there's no need to wear a helmet

when entering the game.

The latest technology? What's the principle behind it?

If we go by what you just said,

the technology should be hard to realize now.

Yes, it's very difficult, but not impossible.

That's what's unique about our game.

Our R&D team has overcome the technological bottleneck

and completed this epoch-making work.

As beta testers,

you have also witnessed the birth of this creation with us.

Of course, the specific technique

is our company's patent which needs to be kept confidential.

As players,

you just need to enjoy the game.

What if we don't sign?

I'll sign. Why not sign?

Won't you reconsider?

After all, this game is quite difficult.

I don't care about the difficulty.

I just want to know when I can get this.

Rest assured. You will get a bonus as long as you pass.

That's right. You should have said it earlier.

Just this one copy? C-C-Can't I get one?

Yes, it's the company's policy.

Give me some time to look it over.

Sure, feel free to do it.

Sir, could you get me some water?

Okay.

Of course, this is your right.

But I sincerely hope you'll reconsider it.

I bet you play games usually.

You do know the meaning of this game.

The excitement and the immersion.

Aren't they enough to attract you?

Our staff have watched the recordings.

Chun Yu, your reactions in the game,

your timing, wit and courage.

All prove that you are most suitable for this game.

Don't you think that in 19th Floor,

you could achieve a greater self?

Moreover, passing the game can also make you earn a substantial bonus.

Thank you, but I won't sign.

I won't sign either.

Then your game experience ends now.

I'm sorry.

Qing You.

Chun Yu.

Why are you here?

I'm here to sign a contract.

You've signed?

Miss Qing You, have you made up your mind

to sign or not to sign?

So the strong like to join forces with the stronger.

So you mean I should become stronger

instead of holding her back?

I must become stronger.

Only then can I be her one and only best friend.

Yes, I'll sign.

Let's go.

What are you doing?

Let's get the agreement back.

Don't you know this game is so dangerous? You can't sign.

Let go.

This is my own choice. I decide for myself.

Is the friendship between women really this superficial?

Not exactly.

What's wrong?

I'll sign.

Okay, here.

It's a win-win situation.

You can play the game and win a prize at the same time.

I'm signing too.

Actually, you didn't have to sign just now.

Then you didn't need to sign either.

I didn't do it for Qing You.

I just want to know the truth behind it.

Me too. It's just my curiosity.

Yu.

Granny.

I was wondering when you'd be back.

I've prepared all your favorite dishes today.

Let me show them off to you. Look.

Well… Granny, I'm sorry. I forgot it.

I have some things to take care of, so I won't be back for now.

W-W-What's going on? You're going to stand me up again?

Whose car are you in?

I'm in a taxi.

Granny, I really have got something to do. I…

Yu, I'm done!

- Granny. - Yu.

Granny!

- Make a U-turn, please. - Shannan Road.

How soon can we get there at the fastest?

In five minutes.

Granny?

Are you surprised?

Hello, Ma'am.

Yu, you got a boyfriend in such a short time.

That's really something.

- Ma'am, it's good to see you're okay. - Good.

If there's nothing else, we'll be leaving.

What are you talking about?

You came back just in time.

I just finished cooking and you arrived.

Gluttons, that's you two.

Be careful.

Come sit.

- Okay. - Have a seat.

I don't cook very well. I hope you'll like it.

It looks delicious.

You're quite sweet.

Now that you're here, have a meal with your Grandma.

It won't take too long.

What are you standing there for?

Hurry up and bring the bowls and chopsticks.

G-G-Go.

Oh, man. Come sit.

- Sit. - Okay.

Kid, what's your name?

Ma'am, my name is Gao Xuan. I am Chun Yu's senior

and a substitute for her computer class.

You can call me Gao.

Senior, Gao.

- The soup must be ready soon. I'll go check. - Alright.

- You stay there. - Okay.

Yu, let me tell you.

I think this kid is really good.

If you like him,

I'll fully support you.

What are you dawdling for?

Go there.

Don't keep him waiting. How awkward. Don't you think?

It's been several days now.

If you still can't get back the renovation money from Yang,

you three don't even think about getting your wages.

Hey!

Yang, I'm telling you.

No matter what, you have to pay me back the money today.

Do you hear me?

No way. Yang is too scary.

Being kicked out like that last time was too embarrassing.

Eight of bamboos, come on.

It's bad. Come on, whose turn is it?

Five of bamboos.

No, I need a good plan.

- I'll win. - You'll win?

I'll change it. Seven dots.

Pung.

Hurry, wait.

A bottle of mineral water.

Three yuan.

Pung.

Two characters.

Dad.

Why are you not at school?

Dad, it is Sunday.

Is it Sunday today?

- Yes, it is. - Is it?

Sunday, just go home and have fun.

Don't hang around here. Go back.

Dad, about my living allowance for last week, you haven't--

- Eight characters. - I won.

I got your eight characters.

You're asking me for money when I'm playing mahjong?

Don't you know doing it would make me gift my opponent?

You're afraid that I won't give you the living expenses?

Then go home and wait.

I'll head back after I win a few hands by self-draw.

Get out of my sight!

It's his dad! There is a God.

Don't be angry.

Can't you just transfer through WeChat or Alipay?

Making your son take the trouble.

Those are all frivolous things. I don't use them.

Yang Bawan.

Boss, how come you're here?

What's the matter?

Boss, slow down. How did you find this place?

There's no place I don't know about.

Be gentle.

What's wrong?

Let me tell you.

From now on, every night,

you will be dragged into a game called 19th Floor

and you can't escape from it.

Of course. I'm going to see her.

To see who?

Wait, what are you so happy about? Don't you think it's quite dangerous?

Right, it is quite thrilling.

Bullshit!

You are simply a fool.

You probably don't know

what will happen to you in reality if you die in the game.

In reality, you would go offline,

You'd become a vegetable

lying in the hospital, unable to move, only breathing.

You don't believe it?

Bro, let me use your photo to deceive this naive man.

If I get back the money, we'll share the credit.

Look, this is my buddy, Yong.

He died in the previous level of the game

and is still lying in the hospital in a coma.

If you don't believe me, you can go ask Chun Yu.

H-H-How could this be? They all know.

No wonder they kept reminding me to be careful.

I won't beat around the bush with you.

Your dad owes me money. I need you to help me.

O-O-Okay, he's at the mahjong parlor.

I'll go get him for you.

Did I ever ask you for this kind of help?

What if I can't help you?

Then I will kill you in the game.

Are you done eating? Then, let's clear it up.

I will make some tea for you.

Ma'am, let me help you.

No need, it's hot.

Let me do it.

Take a seat.

Okay.

Ma'am, Chun Yu used to laugh so happily when she was a child.

Do you think

Yu is a little eccentric?

Not at all. She is quite nice.

Nice? She was much nicer when she was young.

Enthusiastic, generous and so sensible.

My name is Chun Yu. What's yours?

She was laughing every day.

I met her before.

What did you say?

Nothing. I mean she is a nice person now, too.

Actually,

her change is related to the car accident that happened when she was 11.

She injured her head back then.

Furthermore, her mother died in that accident.

It was a huge shock to her.

Since then, I have never mentioned

her childhood,

afraid of unsettling her.

So that's how it is.

And her dad isn't a good father.

After her mom passed away, her dad didn't take care of her.

It's been another two or three months without providing living expenses.

He didn't even pay for her college tuition. Really shameful.

Right. I have to call her father.

Okay.

- Y-Y-You stay seated. - Okay.

Her father was absent even when his daughter attended university.

What's wrong, Chun Yu?

How could a pen from Tianji be here?

Grandma.

Where did this pen come from?

I saw it when I was cleaning your room for you.

It ran out of ink. I thought it was useless so I threw it away.

You sit here.

Is anything not right?

Someone has been in my room.

Who would do that?

Tianji, why? This pen looks so familiar.

[Guangming Hospital] Apart from Tianji, where else have I seen it?

Dr. Jia took me

to sit in his office for a while.

[Guangming Hospital]

Dr. Jia.

Dr. Jia?

He was my primary doctor after I had a car accident.

He also had such a pen on him.

Boss, no information related to him was found.

Come back.

Yes.

Your condition isn't serious. The prescription has been made out.

Remember to take your medicine on time, and come back for a check every month.

Okay, thank you, Dr. Jia.

Dr. Jia, please come with me to the nurse's station.

[Neurosurgery] OK.

What could a neurosurgeon

have to do with Tianji?

Even if there is a connection,

why would they plant a doctor here?

Could it be that the players' coma is really related to Tianji?

They need a doctor's assistance

to get that matter smoothed over.

Sir, don't stop yet.

The prescription has been made out. Take your medicine on time,

and come back for a check every month.

I've been exposed.

[BOSS]

Got it. Wrap it up as soon as possible.

Then afterwards?

Don't worry. I have plans.

You take a rest for a while.

[Bright and burning like the stars, you're everything I want.]

[Girls' Apartment]

Hey, what are you doing? This is the girls' dormitory.

[Student Apartments] Ma'am, I need Chun Yu and Qing You urgently.

Could you please get them for me?

You're here for them? Why didn't you call them?

I did call. One isn't answering, and the other's phone is turned off.

Which room?

W-W-Which one?

Which major?

Security?

A male student here is trying to force his way into the girls' dormitory.

No, don't. Ma'am, I am wrong.

Wrong. I'm leaving.

You think you can fool me? You're still too green.

Kitty.

Such a good kid.

You know too.

If I treat you well, you'd treat me well too.

If I could be a bit stronger,

would she then be a bit nicer to me?

Qing You, you're here.

How come you are here?

I came for you guys.

Long story short, do you know who Doudou is?

Doudou in the game?

Right, do you know her? Is she from our school?

I don't know her. Why are you looking for her?

Tell her dying in the game will result in a coma in real life.

Who told you that?

See, you knew about it, right?

You all know. You just didn't tell me.

Mr. Qiang told me about it.

Isn't it because of this that his good buddy, Yong,

is still in a coma in the hospital?

So, I need to hurry and tell Doudou

to stop playing the game.

We should choose the weakest.

Dying in the game will result in a coma in real life.

Let me out.

Let me out.

You don't deserve to be with them.

Are you okay? Why do you look so pale?

I don't know Doudou. I've got something else to do. I'm leaving.

No, d-d-don't go.

Does Chun Yu know her? Can you ask her for me?

[Passenger Door, Mind Your Safety]

Chun Yu.

So, I am like that injured kitten.

Both of us can be abandoned, right?

No.
