underneath our feet.

Rick is now a Yukon landowner

with 2,000 acres of
prime gold-rich ground,

enough to mine for 50 years.

Once I decided that I was
in this for the long haul,

it was really important for me to
own it rather than just leasing it.

Hopefully, now I can start making a profit

and put money in my bank account.

I mean, it feels good
but it's also a gamble.

I may not get a water license next year.

You know, this is gonna be our
last year here in Duncan creek.

I wanna make it the best year yet.

Gotta keep the gold coming in.

Less than halfway through the season,

Rick's already two-thirds of the way

towards his 1,500-ounce gold.

But his biggest gold-producing cut,

rally valley, is mined out.

We did 900 ounces out of rally valley

in three weeks.

Sad to see it go but we gotta move on.

I just have to focus on
getting the most gold

I can out of the ground.

At least, 1,500 ounces.

Going upstream a little bit.

We got some good pans
out of some ground up there.

We call it the crew cut.

We just gotta get rocky put together.

We're already stockpiling pay,

and we just gotta keep it going

and hope for the best.

One mile north of rally valley

lies the 5.5-acre crew cut.

For the last two weeks,
Rick's crew have been

stripping and digging up pay dirt.

Then they're hauling it 900 feet

to stockpile next to
Rick's second wash plant,

rocky, which has sat
idle for nearly a year.

I think it's time to put some gold in it.

Hopefully, rocky's ready to rock and roll.

Test results indicate the crew cut

should produce the 40 ounces a week.

so we can finish off our pad.

Before Kevin can get sluicing,

his crew needs to dig out
coarse material from a nearby

hillside on his plain,

truck it to his links cut,

and finish building a massive

400-foot-long, 30-foot-high pad.

He will then bring in his new wash plant

to sit on top.

Install the conveyor and hopper feeder

next to a mountain
of stockpiled pay ready

to fire up by the end of the week.

Brennan now faces a herculean task

to finish the wash plant pad.

The heat has just got turned way up.

But we're here to mine gold.

This is the first time
that we've tried to run

three plants at once.

And really the success
of the season depends

on us being able to do it
and keep three running.

But it's a pretty tall order.

Nearly halfway through the season,

Parker schnabel is
hoping to turn a corner

with three wash plants

set to run nonstop for a full week.

This place has gotten pretty hectic.

There's just a lot going on everywhere,

you know, managers and operators

and mechanics and
Chris in the gold room.

They're all doing their part to try to keep

the wheels under it but it's tough.

Parker needs his three-plant blitz

to get him out of a massive hole,

having banked just a tenth

of his 10,000-ounce season gold.

In the long cut,

Roxanne is racing through prime pay dirt.

At the bridge cut,

big red is sluicing top layer pay gravels.

And down at Ken and Stewart's,

wash plant Bob is churning
through reliable ground.

It's a lot of moving parts trying to keep all

the rock trucks running
and wash plants maintained,

and now it's just a matter

of how long can we sustain this?

We're here at the bridge cut.

We're hopefully getting
into some better pay.

And Tatiana and Michael
are trucking it to me to sluice.

I'm hoping it's got some better gold.

It hasn't really been
looking too good this year.

To supercharge his production

at the bridge cut... Keep

Parker's brought in the big guns,

two a60s,

the biggest rock trucks on his mine site.

With being so behind,
there's a lot of pressure

coming from Parker, and definitely

having the 60s out here
make a huge difference.

The amount of dirt we
can move during the day

is almost double, the a40s.

So they're very, very handy.

The a60s hold 20 tons more dirt

than their little sister, the a40.

Over a thousand tons more pay a day.

- Just at big red.
- Just dumping.

We really gotta hurry
up and get things done.

hanging over a 50-foot drop.

We just got a soft
bank and the dump body

flipped over on its side.

Making Taylor's mission tougher,

the a60 weighs a colossal 50 tons.

The problem right
now is we've got the box

slightly elevated.

I don't want the excavator
pulling on the box with the...

With the cylinders extended.

We're just kind of at
risk of bending a cylinder

or snapping a bolt off at the base of it

which will destroy the cylinder anyway.

So we're gonna just try
and make some clearance

by pulling on the frame a little bit

and, lower the box.

You can fire it up.

Yup.

It's just a bit more rigid with
the box all the way down.

The a60 has two hydraulic cylinders,

which extend to tip
the box and dump dirt.

All right. We good?

Okay. Watch yourselves,
guys, just be careful.

If Taylor destroys one,

the a60 will be out for weeks.

Okay. That didn't work.

The tires are buried pretty hard

into the one side there,

so there's quite a bit of resistance.

I'm just gonna see if I can
get the forks in the box here

and start to get this
machine rolled over a little bit.

So it might be okay.

Yeah, we're lowering the box.

It looks like we've got the box down,

which is a huge bonus.

So I'm gonna get John to just grab on

and he should be able

just to pull it over now safely.

after the only excavator
with a bucket small enough

to feed it blew a turbo.

not having gold coming in right now.

I mean, we're not making money,

we're just burning fuel.

So he needs to get something
figured out here fairly quick.

This 250 is gonna take place of our 330.

We will end up fixing it, I'm sure,

If red gets in that groove,

we'll have a chance of getting caught up

to where we should be.
